November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

@SpyroC woooooooooooo 🎉🎉🥰🥰🥬 xx

Gardenlady543 · 21/11/2020 09:25

Well done @SpyroC you must be thrilled!

unknownscot · 21/11/2020 09:33

@MF1981 How did you get on? Mine was fine, but I felt the need to sit down after walking down the stairs. Terrified it would fall out or something. All in my head I'm sure!

@SpyroC Congratulations!! That is amazing news. ❤️

@Gardenlady543 Well done, take it easy the rest of the day. I'd recommend not eating a lot for the first while. I was adamant I was hungry and then just threw it all up! Cosy PJs and movie day for you. 😘

I feel a lot happier today, think I was stressing in my mind about transfer day and the logistics of it all. My husband works away and won't be here for transfer so trying to work out who could come with me, who is best for my own mentality and who is safest in terms of COVID risk. It's a headache but getting there!

YEEEESSSSSS @SpyroC!! 🤩 🥳 🤩 🥳 I was thinking of you and sending you positive vibes when I got up to do my 6am pessary! 💓 😂 I guess we can put 3am horniness into the 'positive sign' list then?! 🤪 Massive commiserations on the kale though! 🥬🤣🥬🤣 Are you intending on sticking to the healthy eating all the way through? I was dreaming about high-end all you can eat buffets last night, which I wasn't allowed to go in to - I'm still blaming your BFN plan being embedded in my subconscious! 😂

Welcome back @Melissa1983 🙂 You are at an exciting stage! Good luck for your scan this week 🍀

Try not to over think it @ChicaXS ❤️ I was completely convinced that my fresh cycle was a BFN because my boobs had stopped being tender, like they always do pre-AF. Was difficult to tell about the CM because of the pessary gunk, but that had taken on a yellow tinge (😳), which my CM always does pre-AF too... but it was still a BFP, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'd give your clinic a buzz this week and ask about the meds - you don't want to be stressing about that unnecessarily if it comes to it next weekend (which it hopefully won't! 🍀).

Excellent egg haul @Gardenlady543 🥚😊 I was in pain as soon as I came round from EC, so hopefully you've dodged it 🤞🤞🤞 I hope you have a relaxing rest of the day 🛋️📺🎬

Glad you're feeling better about things @unknownscot and are on the road to working out who to take with you. I was worrying about the exact same thing (DP works 12 hour continental shifts), but we've been very lucky and everything has fallen on his off day so far 🤞 Good luck for next week 🍀

Excellent that your hCG has doubled and you're scan date is all sorted @TheGlitterFairy 😁 Is it starting to sink in yet?

It's definitely the countdown to ET at casa bambi 🕒 Last day of work for 2 weeks yesterday (nothing beats putting that out of office on, does it?! 😁) and I'm all good intentions for this weekend 💪 Going to start with a 10k run (although not sure how the pessary gunk is going to get on with that 😳), then going to start mission 'clean absolutely everything' 🧴🧹🧽😏 I normally can't get enthusiastic about cleaning, but it'll be nice to sit on the sofa post-ET on Tuesday and not have to worry about that kind of thing 🧘‍♀️

Happy weekend ladies 💖

YES @SpyroC !!! Brilliant news! Let's keep the BFP bus rolling! Thrilled for you - reading this made me cry a little (think the progesterone must be working 😂). Enjoy the happy bubble you're in 🥰

We had good news today too. Day 3 update was 1 excellent embryo, 1 very good but slightly behind and 3 others looking less good but not out of the running. I'm feeling pretty relieved - if we can have 1 to transfer and 1 to freeze I would be thrilled!

Will catch up on the rest of the thread a bit later x

MF1981 · 21/11/2020 12:13

Well done @Gardenlady543! And congrats @SpyroC!

@unknownscot well these pessaries are just delightful aren’t they? Including the chalky discharge! Did your clinic not tell you to lie down after? Mine said to lie down for 20-30 mins.

I’m feeling awful today. This constipation has got me really bad. The pain this morning was off the scale and I was sweating and feeling sick with it. We rang the clinic and they sent my fiancé out to the pharmacy to get some lactulose and they seem to think that once that works I’ll get some instant relief from the pain and pressure. She also said today and tomorrow are usually peak symptom days so that made me feel a little better.

MF1981 · 21/11/2020 12:16

Great news @MGee123!

Gardenlady543 · 21/11/2020 12:41

So the embryologist just called me to have a ICSI/no ICSI conversation, my husband sperm numbers are ok on today’s sample except the progressive motility is not great. She recommended no ICSI so I’ve gone with that. Hopefully they fertilize, because if I’ve gone through all this pain for nothing I’ll be so upset. She said the rate of fertilization with ICSI is 60-70% and without 60%, so it doesn’t seem that different.

ChicaXS · 21/11/2020 13:57

@SpyroC congratulations darling I’m so happy for you!! Well done!
Like @MGee123 I cried too reading your news, it gives us hope! I also feel a bit down coz I’m bit of a nerd and work on percentages so I feel like I’ll be the one with the BFN. But I’m so so happy for you! @Mgee123 those are great results. I had two trail behind and they made it fine. One is actually frozen as I got PGS testing done (the other one was abnormal)

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 @TheGlitterFairy I’ll try to remain optimistic. I had a cry and my DH was supportive.
@MF1981 so sorry about the constipation- tonic water is very good if you can take it and lots of fibre. Tonic water always works for me (IBS Sufferer).
@unknownscot my clinic never told me anything about pessaries (just to take them!) last night it slid out 20 secs after washing my hands 🤣 ran back to the bathroom and it was too late! I hate them!

unknownscot · 21/11/2020 14:30

@MF1981 Ah, no i wasn't told that but it makes complete sense. I'll follow your advise and do that from tonight!!

@Gardenlady543 we ended up being ICSI too. Somehow we were upset but we still had a great fertilisation rate

X

MGee123 · 21/11/2020 16:52

Just catching up properly now!

@Gardenlady543 11 is eggsellent! 🥚 hope you get a positive update tomorrow

@unknownscot glad you're feeling a bit better today. I can understand your worry. I'm going to my ET on my own as my husband is a teacher and we're trying to minimise the number of days off he's having in case we have to do this again next year. I think you can go alone? Totally understand wanting a handhold though!

2 weeks off sounds a dream @BambiOnIce80 and good job on the cleaning! I love a relaxed day in a spic and span house - I'm going to do a blitz tomorrow so I can come home Monday and chill 😎

@MF1981 im sorry you're feeling so rubbish. You poor thing. Constipation definitely won't be helping - hopefully once you've been properly you might start to feel a bit better?

Thank you for the reassurance @ChicaXS 😊 I'm feeling positive and to be honest the dream scenario would be one for transfer and one in the freezer. We knew we would never get big numbers because of my rubbish AMH and AFC. Keeping 🤞 the two leaders keep it up!

Gardenlady543 · 21/11/2020 17:51

@MGee123 @unknownscot she said not to do ICSI for us, the embryologist actually called me up and said she’d read out the wrong number on the phone and the progressive motility was ok. She said they’d mixed the eggs and sperm and the sperm were looking good, I’ll get an update tomo and then nothing until the planned day of transfer! They’ll be in a embryoscope incubator.

I had discussed a double transfer with the consultant who said that it’s my choice basically, but the embryologist said protocols changed with Covid (although I can’t think why), and with lockdown 2.0 they have been told only to do single transfers. I found this quite strange as I thought that it was the consultants decision! I asked if it could be rediscussed when we know about the blasts and she said yes. So who know as

I’m a bit crampy, missed the some paracetamol intake as I was having a nap, DH just got me up for a couple of hours though. I’ve requested some paupers pizza (pizza made out of bread) and chips, only eaten toast all day and this is the only thing I fancy for some reason!

unknownscot · 21/11/2020 19:02

@Gardenlady543 Oh that's good. Hope you have a relaxing evening and a quick update tomorrow.

Strange that they can't transfer two just because of lockdown?! Haven't heard that one!

I'm quite sore today after my first progesterone injection - lubion. Anyone got any tips? I'm usually okay with injections but this is tender and the liquid itself is so thick!

X

Gardenlady543 · 21/11/2020 19:24

@unknownscot thanks! Seems very strange to me as well, my husband joked that even the embryos need to socially distance!

I don’t know much about progesterone injections, I feel for you, because after this cycle even images of needles make me queasy (and there are a lot in the press right now with coverage on the Covid vaccine).

It sounds like it’s painful at the injection site? I guess the only way around that would be to rotate the site as much as you can, so you’re not injecting into the same area all the time. You could ask the clinic if you can inject in other areas like safe areas of the bum and thigh?

Gardenlady543 · 21/11/2020 19:27

@unknownscot oh and gently massage the site after to try and help the liquid absorb.

SpyroC · 21/11/2020 19:30

Thanks so much everyone 😊. This is such a lovely thread. Xx

@ChicaXS @MGee123 I have definitely got emotional over Mumsnet good and bad news posts over the past few years. Empathy is a powerful thing, infertility is so horrible, only those of us unlucky enough to experience it truly understand.

@ChicaXS remember last Friday, my boobs deflated and I felt down. It's the drop in estrogen following on from having so many follicles pumping it out. I knew this and it still made me worry 🙈 the tww is 🤪 for sure but stay strong 👊🏻 you have every chance still. Oh and I've also felt the same about stats on threads but having been on a few now, some are just luckier than others. It's a tiny sample of everyone going through ivf right now. X

@unknownscot glad you're feeling better. I have a number of people who'd love to be at a transfer 😂 it is fascinating. I hope you sort somebody. The lubion is a pain isn't it although I suspect it's massively significant in my success so I have a love hate relationship with it. My top tips are to inject it as slowly as you can and to give the area a little rub afterwards. Some say to ice the area first too but I've never tried that.

@BambiOnIce80 I did my 6am pessary too so I definitely caught your vibes through the gunk 😂 I googled the 3am arousal and it's a symptom alright! It's not been back thankfully! My bfn plan was embedded too I've had to have a chippy tonight to celebrate! (2 in 3 weeks 🙊. I will be back on the healthy stuff tomorrow until cravings get in my way. I need to do some research but I think it'll be safe to reintroduce gluten and dairy in smaller amounts after 12 weeks. Sounds like everything is getting exciting your end now😀. I hope your pants survived the gunk on the run! 😂

@MGee123 excellent news on your update. Come on little embies! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@MF1981 the 30 minute pessary lie downs are when I catch up with this thread! I hope your feeling better. X

@Gardenlady543 good job on your eggs. The nurse told me to go for stodgy after ec (the 1st chippy)

@TheGlitterFairy did you do more tests? I have a few left over from my last crazy cycle but I'm thinking to just leave it and try to stay in my happy bubble for as long as possible.

MGee123 · 22/11/2020 05:44

Has anyone else experienced sleeping issues on the progesterone? I haven't been able to sleep past 5am since Thursday which was my first full day of the pessaries. Have tossed and turned for the last hour trying to get back to sleep and now given up 🙈💤😴 this could be a very long 2 weeks!!

Gardenlady543 · 22/11/2020 09:15

Got a good update this morning, all 12 of my eggs were mature and all fertilized! So I’m glad we went without the ICSI, the sperm obviously did their job. The embryologist said they’ll be in the embryoscope incubator and I won’t get an update until Thursday morning (the day of ET), she said expect a 50% drop off. So 🤞. I start the progesterone pessaries tomo so I suspect I’ll be talking about gunk soon!!

MF1981 · 22/11/2020 09:42

Great news @Gardenlady543!

MGee123 · 22/11/2020 10:25

Brilliant news @Gardenlady543 ! And welcome to the gunk club! 🤢

ivfjourney5 · 22/11/2020 23:35

I hope everyone's had a good weekend!

@Gardenlady543 that's such a great result!! Well done little eggs 🥚

@MGee123 and @Birdladybird good luck for transfer tomorrow!!

@MF1981 I think you've got an update due in the morning so I'll keep my fingers crossed🤞🏼 Are you feeling a bit better now?

@ChicaXS I hope you're getting ok okay 💐

@BambiOnIce80 how did the cleaning go? 🧽

MGee123 · 23/11/2020 06:42

Thank you @ivfjourney5 🙏 I'm feeling really nervous - mostly about getting through the morning without the clinic calling me to say all the embryos have given up the ghost! I know in my head we only need 1 but with such small starting numbers it feels like we're on the back foot!

Keeping positive though and looking forward to this afternoon. I'm going to go for my last run for a while and make the most of it 🏃‍♀️😊 I've decided I'm not going to run again until after OTD. I know some clinics say you can, but it just doesn't seem worth the risk. Lots of walking instead I think 👍

MGee123 · 23/11/2020 06:44

Good luck @Birdladybird ! Hope your transfer goes well too 🤞🤞🤞

Are you feeling any better @MF1981? I'm sorry you feel so rubbish 🤗

Birdladybird · 23/11/2020 07:47

@ivfjourney5 @MGee123 thank you. We only have 3 in the running so i'm dreading the phone ringing to tell us not to go in :( Hopefully my transfer is at 2pm! Thank you for the luck! Hope all goes well for you too @MGee123 XX

Gardenlady543 · 23/11/2020 08:19

@MGee123 @Birdladybird Good luck to the both of you, I have my fingers crossed for both of you! Keep us updated with how you get on!
