... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Hi everyone. I need your help, please. I got a call from the embryologist that 7 of my eggs fertilised but also that they're considering a day 3 transfer of 2 embryos.

I have a hard decision to make before Monday. I'm mainly worried about all the risks and complications you read about everywhere with multiple pregnancies so I can't decide shall I go for 1 or 2 embryos? Confused

huffleclaw · 14/11/2020 14:25

Hi everyone!

I have been following this thread for a few weeks, I remember some names from the January thread (before the world went crazy)

At that point I was at risk of OHSS so they did a freeze all (two embryos)

In March we had our planning appointment and were ready to go at my next period...then lockdown hit and everything stopped.

We finally went back in September, 9 months to the day since our previous planning appointment.

All went well and I had 1 embryo transferred on Thursday 5th.

OTD not until 19th, but I'm home alone today and couldn't resist...

I did the test twice....

Can't tell anyone in Real Life (I've told them all we can't test until at least the 20th so we can absorbs the news ourselves first) and husband is in work, and probably would tell me I was being silly testing early!!

@BambiOnIce80 @MGee123 Thanks, ladies! I'm feeling pretty normal except for the sudden onset of a rather voracious appetite. This morning, I had oatmeal, minestrone soup and a mushroom dish - and that was before 8:30 (!) to say nothing of all the other stuff I ate before lunchtime. These progesterone pessaries are taking my appetite in very odd directions haha!

@BambiOnIce80 I've been taking it easy with work lately but had to finish a book ahead of today's (online) book club gathering so good to stay busy ;)

@MGee123 Glad that they allowed for more time so more follicles could stand a chance. :) Next week's going to be a good week x

BonTon · 14/11/2020 14:54

Amazing news @huffleclaw ! Congrats.

@EasterBunny7, sorry you’ve got a tough decision coming up. The way I would look at it is they wouldn’t recommend two if the risks outweighed the benefits so there must be valid reasons why they may go that way in your case. I think clinics are also judged (negatively) on the number of multiple pregnancies. Could you speak to your consultant to discuss before transfer? I feel for you - I absolute hate decisions! ❤️

SpyroC · 14/11/2020 15:38

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 i think your counsellor is right. It's just a massive guilt free off load isn't it! 🤞🏻 your dreams sound awful! I hope they settle for you. Mine were just surreal! 🤔🤪

@ivfjourney5 I hope they were able to help you out today. X

@MGee123 and @BonTon great news on the scans.

If I'm honest @MGee123 sex is just not on the agenda at all during treatment. For me the ivf process is a turn off, my DH is actually the same too! I think it's the emotional drain. We brought condoms for during treatment but never used them.

@EasterBunny7 I've had 2 put back this cycle and last. I just go with the clinic. They must think there's a low chance of twins as the HFEA monitor twin pregnancy rates. I am also conscious of the risks but on the flip side I know someone who had ivf twins after almost 10 years of trying and it completed their family in one so in the unlikely event of me being pregnant with twins I'd be fearful but would also be able to see the upside. It's a personal choice though so do what you feel comfortable with. It's odd that they dropped it on you like this, perhaps they didn't anticipate your response. Best of luck whatever you decide x

Congratulations @huffleclaw 🙌🏻

I here you on the appetite @indigocloud ! I can't really indulge though as I'm off inflammatory foods 😒

EasterBunny7 · 14/11/2020 16:09

@SpyroC

Hi, thanks for the support. The two you've put back in, when do you expect news? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Yes, I'm reading contradictory material about why they'd suggest 2 embryos and a day 3 transfer. Is it because they anticipate not that great embryos? I just want to get a grasp on it before Monday rather than making a spontaneous decision there and then.

EasterBunny7 · 14/11/2020 16:14

@BonTon

Thanks for your support.

Extremely nerve wracking decision. They will have a detailed conversation with us on Monday but I don't want to make a decision on the spot and therefore trying to gather my thoughts.

This is a hard one...

I know that my clinic try to avoid transferring more that 1 embryo...so seems like they would only recommend it if they were sure it's the best chance for you?

There is an increased chance of multiples with IVF anyways - I didn't find out that until I was about to have transfer and had to sign to say I understood the risks!

Only you know if your support network etc is in place to help if it was twins. As a teacher I see lots of twins and most are not adversely effected, (not scientific evidence I know!)

EasterBunny7 · 14/11/2020 17:15

@huffleclaw

Thanks for your support. The more I read about risks with twin pregnancies, the more apprehensive I'm getting.

MGee123 · 14/11/2020 19:52

Congrats @huffleclaw! What exciting news! Have you told your husband now? I don't think there is any doubting those lines!

@EasterBunny7 that is a tricky one and I can't offer any insights having not been in anything close to resembling your situation yet. That said, I am sure the clinic are recommending that for a reason, so perhaps go with whatever they advise? That way, the decision isn't on you? I guess there are no guarantees either way, so best to go with what the experts think is the right thing to do? (So long as you're prepared that twins is one possible outcome!).

@SpyroC our sex life is definitely not thriving at the moment and I can already tell I won't want to be doing it post collection for quite a while, positive or negative outcome I think!

@indigocloud that is an odd mix of meals! I get a bit like that pre-AF so guess it is a progesterone thing along with the brain fog! I'm still so thirsty all the time, and more hungry than usual too. My boobs have got really sore today as well. Feeling like I'm ready to stop the stims soon with that and some bloating 😂 funny as I really hadn't noticed much at all up until today. Hopefully tomorrow will be the last day of stims 🤞

ivfjourney5 · 14/11/2020 21:02

@BonTon yey for starting the oestrogen and having a tentative transfer date!

@MGee123 I'm glad your scan went well yesterday and the follicles are on their way to being ready 😊 I agree with the condoms, haven't used them for about 12 years previously to this and we had to order a box 😂

@EasterBunny7 good news that 7 fertilised! I can't help with your decision about transferring two sorry, but I understand how difficult it must be x

@huffleclaw congratulations!! And that's a brilliant idea about telling others your OTD is the day after. I'll definitely use that tactic if I get to transfer

@indigocloud your diet gave me a good laugh, as long as your happy eat everything in sight!

The nurse rang me today to say they hadn't been able to speak to the consultant and that he'll phone me on Monday... we'll see 🤷🏻‍♀️

unknownscot · 15/11/2020 08:54

Hi guys.
I've been on a million different threads but FINALLY im started on meds for my FET - I'm on day 4 of fyremadel and progynova.

We had EC at the start of October.
22 eggs
14 fertilised
7 day 3
Only 1 day 5 😢

That one was frozen and is sitting waiting for us!
🤞🏼

The progynova is making me so nauseous but other than that I'm okay.

I'm in for an endometrial lining scan on Friday 20th, that will be CD11.
Roughly what CD was your day 5 FET?

X

BambiOnIce80 · 15/11/2020 12:01

Happy progynova day @BonTon! 🥳💊 🥳💊 It's nice to have a more solid time line in place, isn't it? If my time line stays the same then I think my OTD will be the same as your ET 🔮 Lining scan day for me is Tuesday, so finally getting there 🤞 I think your husband could be onto something with the weird dreams being lockdown related - it's my third week of working from home (I'd normally be going out to work). Maybe the cabin fever is infiltrating my dreams 🤔

Glad to hear your follicles are coming along nicely @MGee123 👍 I'm with @Birdladybird that I preferred injecting into my thighs after I'd ran out of sites on my stomach - couldn't feel a thing in my thighs and didn't go back to my stomach. I'm also with @SpyroC on the not bothering with sex during the cycle 🙈 We bought condoms for the fresh cycle and then neither of us felt like it between the feeling like a pin cushion/full of hormones/gazillion appointments with dildo cam! 😳 Normal service will be resumed once this cycle is out the way 😁

That's a tough one @EasterBunny7 and I feel for you ❤️ I agree with everyone in that the clinic would not suggest putting 2 back at day 3 lightly - they must be expecting that it's your best chance at getting a BFP. I know a couple of people who had two put back (1 at day 3 and 1 at day 5) and both of them had singleton pregnancies. I must say I think I would consider putting 2 back next time, if this cycle is a BFN. Purely because I'm not getting any younger and I don't want to be going through this process for another 2 years (we'll have 4 frosties left after this cycle, barring any curve balls with thawing). Good luck with your decision 🍀

I remember you @huffleclaw! Congratulations! 🤩 How did your OH take the news?

@indigocloud my voracious appetite kicked in on day 2 of progynova and has shown no sign of dissipating yet! 😳 I should have shares in Ben and Jerry's! 😳 At least your binge sounds pretty healthy! 😂

Urgh, that's annoying @ivfjourney5 😕 I hope they come back to you with the plan tomorrow 🤞

Welcome @unknownscot 👋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Sorry to hear the progynova is making you nauseous 💐 My clinic did warn me that it could do that, but I've been lucky so far 🤞 My lining scan is on day 18 of progynova (which is CD21 - yes, my clinic seems to take faaaaarrrr longer than everyone else's to get the lining scan done 🙄). If everything is OK with that, then I'll be starting progesterone (utrogestan) and after 5 ish days it'll be ET. Tentatively hoping that'll be the week after next, depending on how Tuesdays scan goes 🔮🤞🔮🤞

I hope everyone's managing to have a nice weekend? I went to get my roots sorted out yesterday (1 and a bit weeks before ET was a stroke of luck! 💇‍♀️) and I walked past a high end shop that I normally wouldn't go in and there was this beeeeaautiful dress in the window that completely grabbed my attention 👗😍 I googled it when I got home and it's not as wallet busting as I suspected, so I've promised myself that if it's a BFN in a few weeks time I'm going straight to that shop as soon as I get off the phone and trying it on! 😁 Always good to have a plan in place for bad news, right?! 🤪

Hi @unknownscot my ET is tomorrow at CD18.

I had my scan at CD12 and was ready. Pepped for 5 days of shots and pessaries. I warn you the moods aren’t nice, I have been feeling crappy and low for a week now. Just want the transfer done now.

@BambiOnIce80 good for you girl prepping yourself for the dress. I must say how did you get your roots done lol it’s lockdown? I need a cut so badly! X

BambiOnIce80 · 15/11/2020 14:49

All you need to do @ChicaXS is move to Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 😂 No lockdown here yet (tier 3 and hopefully heading towards tier 2, based on our numbers), so business as usual for the hairdressers and beauticians (long may it continue! 🔮🤞). Sorry to hear you're feeling down - the hormones really put us through it 😔 Good luck for tomorrow 🍀 I'll be thinking of you 💓

OP posts:
indigocloud · 15/11/2020 15:05

@BambiOnIce80 Well, at least you're getting loads of protein and calcium - all of which we need more of during pregnancy, right? So consider it "doing your duty" and enjoy ;)

@EasterBunny7 Whilst the situation may seem scary for you as it's the first time you've been faced with this daunting choice, chances are, your clinic has seen similar situations before in their patients so they've got a lot of more experience in this regard. I'm guessing that they are suggesting this with your best interest in mind so hopefully that puts your mind at ease somewhat xx

EasterBunny7 · 15/11/2020 16:54

@indigocloud

Thank you for your support.

We'll have to see what tomorrow holds. Confused

EasterBunny7 · 15/11/2020 16:57

@BambiOnIce80

Thanks! It is actually reassuring to hear that both ended up with singleton pregnancies.

SpyroC · 15/11/2020 19:23

@EasterBunny7 my otd is the 21st 🤞🏻. The day 3 v 5 varies by clinics, I was wandering if mine would suggest it being as I only had 2 however, it was never mentioned. Did they say why day 3 if you had 7 fertilise? Have you decided what to do? I hope it all goes well tomorrow x

@huffleclaw it's terrible really, as I always ponder whether my non identical twin students may have been a product of ivf. 🙈 only somebody in our position would think about that!

@ivfjourney5 🤞🏻 they help you out tomorrow! X

@MGee123 @BambiOnIce80 I wander when I finally get a bfp if I'll be off sex for a further 8 months! I think I'll be nervous of doing anything to upset things down there. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Welcome @unknownscot 👋🏻 I've no experience of fet I'm afraid.

@BambiOnIce80 I haven't had my hair cut since August. 🙈🙈 it's was the ectopic saga and then in to isolating for this round. Thankfully it looks alright at the moment. Nice idea with the dress 👗 🙌🏻. My bfn plan is to indulge in all the foods that I've barely touched for almost an entire year with a particular focus on Christmas food 🤤.

I'm posting from my cyclogest lie down again. We've baked a gluten free Christmas cake today 😊 if it's bad news on Saturday I'll probably do a gluten one too! 😂 I had a panic yesterday as I had a tiny bit of pink stained cm on wiping yesterday afternoon. It upset me as on my last 2 rounds that has been the start of progressively worsening bleeding that leads to my period. But fortunately it hasn't been back since. 🤞🏻 for implantation! Tomorrow is the point that in the cycle where I go 🤪. Wish me luck! X

TheGlitterFairy · 15/11/2020 20:27

Good luck @ChicaXS for tomorrow. The meds can be tough - just do a day at a time and try to keep busy. This has been my mantra.

@BonTon great to have a timeframe and date of ET to work towards. 👍 Good news!

@MGee123 good luck for your scan tomorrow. Hopefully the extra days stims over the weekend will have worked it’s magic and you can move forward to Wednesday. 🙏

@EasterBunny7 hello 👋- hope that the weekend brought some clarity for your decision tomorrow. As others have said, the clinic will recommend what they think will give you the best outcome but it’s ultimately your decision. We opted for 2 this time but only 1 thawed out ok so transferred 1 and have 1 on ice still. Sure they can talk you through it all tomorrow

TheGlitterFairy · 15/11/2020 20:49

@huffleclaw hello 👋 - amazing news and congrats!! 🙌🙌🙌 Great news to hear!

@unknownscot hello 👋- sorry you’ve been feeling queasy. I felt the same with the progesterone injection for the first 3 days then it settled. My FET ET was on CD 25 though it took 3 weeks for me to downreg so prob should have been the week before if my body had been behaving!!

@ivfjourney5 hope the consultant gets back to you tomorrow.

@BambiOnIce80 your dreams sound super scary!!!! Hope you’ve not had too many more!! I seem to have developed a pattern of sleeping and dreaming vividly one night and then not sleeping at all the next night and tossing and turning. Tonight is the night to sleep I hope! Last dream I had I was attending a church service in the village I lived in as a child. Goodness knows what that means!!
Great idea on the dress btw in case of a BFN. Will have to think of something in case of the same. New bag perhaps 🤔🙌🙈 hmmmmm!! How’ve you found the wait over the weekend? I’ve been trying to keep busy, while googling all sorts of things again 😂 2 more sleeps to go!! 💪🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Haircut sounds good too! I’ve an appt booked mid December so hoping we’ll be out of lockdown then (London) to go!

@SpyroC fingers crossed 🤞 for implantation. Really hope that it doesn’t mean the start of anything else. Good luck for this stage of the wait. I’ve def been going out of my mind this last half of the tortuous wait!!!

Oh - and on the sex thing - no, there’s been none of that going on for the last few weeks. Think we’re both exhausted emotionally with it. I’m also not feeling sexy or glam esp with DH having to do my ass injection each morning 😂😂😂 I figure there’s plenty of time for that when we’re through this one way or another!!!

indigocloud · 15/11/2020 21:28

@TheGlitterFairy "ass injection" I had a good laugh at that description 😂 At least you've kept your sense of humour about you amidst all the crazy, which is a great asset to have :D

@SpyroC All the very best for your implantation! x

ivfjourney5 · 16/11/2020 08:33

@ChicaXS good luck today 🍀

Also good luck to anyone else that has appointments/scans/EC/ET... sorry I'm struggling to keep up with everyone 😂 x

TheGlitterFairy · 16/11/2020 09:44

@indigocloud it's the only way - though there have been a few tears along the journey too but I figure laughing is better for your mascara!!

Hope you're doing ok on your 2ww too.

@ivfjourney5 likewise!!!

MGee123 · 16/11/2020 10:09

It seems to have hit crunch time for a lot of us! I'm struggling to keep up too 😂

Good luck @ChicaXS! Thinking of you 🤞🤞🤞

I'm here for another scan at the moment - hoping they will confirm EC for Wed 🤞

Happy Monday everyone, hope you have a good week and hope the days start to go a bit quicker for those waiting for test dates!
