October IVF

Hi ladies, I’ve been through all of my fertility screening tests etc and am due to start my first and hopefully only round of IVF (positive vibes ) soon. I’m looking to share my hopes, experiences and tips and provide support to anyone else expecting to start a cycle soon. The more the merrier!

Just back from my day 10 scan, currently got 25 follicles between 8-17mm so they’re going to rescan on Mon with a view to collecting on Weds. No wonder we’re all feeling bloated!

Yes, my work are aware of treatment and had put me in a non-patient facing role, however, it's not my job and I think now that previous shielding staff are back at work then I'd stick out like a sore thumb if not doing my duties.

Oh I don't know! I'll speak to the clinic at EC and see what they advise.
My managers have been great though so maybe a discussion with them too.

It's just so much less stressful being at home! But I know that can't go on forever.

I also had a scan a blood test today, day 6 of menopur. They want me to start fyremadel as well as menopur tonight. I have 14 follicles with one at 16mm and the others around 12mm I think she said, to be honest I'm really not sure if that's good or bad? I told the nurse that I was worried nothing was happening as I've had no side effects or anything and have continued to run and work every day, but she seemed pleased with my progress and said to carry on as I am. So I'll go back again Monday for more scans and blood.

@unknownscot good luck with the work conversation and also keep us posted re how you're getting on with stims. Hopefully that trigger shot will come soon!

@Lightningrain that sounds similar to me. Today is day 4 of stims for me and from tomorrow morning I add in Cetrotide at 7am and a table beginning with D at 8am and then ongoing Meriofert / Fostimon in the evenings. It's quite the cocktail. Good luck with the additional meds.

YEY! Egg Collection officially booked for Tuesday morning. So trigger on Sunday night.

So nervous that it's all actually happening now. 🙈

Had my bloods and scan. Left side there is 5 follicles measureing l0mm, right side 6 but they are "plussses" and hadn't really changed since the first scan🤷🏻‍♀️Back on Monday for another scan. This is day 7 of stims. When I asked the nurse if that was good/bad or indifferent she said that it was fine and nothing to worry about. They expect them to grow 1/2 mm per day. So I was headed in the right direction and will keep stimming until I'm at the size they want xx

Hi all, sorry been a bit MIA on here I’ve had a really stressful week. Good stressful as I was promoted, but it’s just been a lot going on!

This is day 7 today for me injection wise. I had a scan today and she counted I think 7 follicles on one side and 10 on the other, she didn’t tell me sizes but she did say some of those 17 are very small. I have always had a high antral follicle count when they’ve scanned me in the past (most recently 26) so I can’t help but feel slightly disappointed as I know that not all of those 17 will have eggs in. I know it’s early days yet but I’ve no idea what the chances of that 17 increasing is or whether they will just some of them continue to grow. I’m back on Sunday for a day 9 scan.

@ThePurpleFairy congratulations on our promotion. Ohhh sounds like we are at the same stage. What protocol are you doing?

@Mrsmch123 I’m on short protocol 150iu Meriofert and Fyremadel in the mornings. Initial estimate of EC was Wed-Sat next week.

I know I might sound really ungrateful for that number, but because I’m doing genetic testing for a condition with a 50:50 chance that can wipe a good number of my embryos out, so was hoping for at least 15 eggs, particularly as they seem so concerned that I am high risk for OHSS!

@unknownscot I have a job that puts at risk too and they have been very supportive. I'm working from home throughout stims through to embryo transfer. I could have longer but I know I'll go crazy during the tww if I'm sat twiddling my thumbs. You have to do what's right for you.

Lots of scans today all sounding very good.

I'm worried I may have a Uti 😬. I'm due to start DR on Wednesday. Has anybody ever had this during a cycle before? I'm not sure if I can take antibiotics with the DR drugs. I'll have to check with my clinic I guess.

@ThePurpleFairy I totally get where you are coming from. I'm on the long protocol. Started the nasal spray today....it's horrid!

@Mrsmch123 ah I can imagine, I don’t think I would like nasal spray at all!

@unknownscot wow I just scrolled back and saw you had 14 and 18 on your first scan, that’s like double mine! If you don’t mind me asking did your total number of follicles change between your first and second scan? Or did they stay at 14 and 18

@mayihavesomecakeplease I've just done my 2nd injection and it stung more than the first as well....not sure why. 🤷‍♀️

@Lightningrain I'm not getting scanned until day 9 either but you could be right about them not being worried about OHSS as they've said that's unlikely for me too. Let us know how the Fyremadel goes, I start that on Tuesday.

@ThePurpleFairy They changed slightly - although I've got a high number size wise there 9 in total that were a really good size today.

Did any of you have bad side effects from norethisterone? I'm having the most painful period after taking it and its a lot heavier than normal too. I was up in the night in agony 😬

@Lolly2020 I found my period after Norethisterone to be one of my worst. I felt physically achy before my period started and then it was heavy and painful when it started. All I can recommend is that you take it easy and grab a hot water bottle if you can xx

@Lolly2020 yes I had the exact same for about 2 days, night and day, and then it got a lot better. Sorry to hear you've also suffered but hopefully it will get better for you throughout today. As some of the ladies here advised me when I asked last week, if it doesnt get better best to contact your clinic or GP. I found a nice warm bath helped. Take care of yourself

@Lolly2020 yes it's usually worse after unfortunately. I'm awaiting mine tomorrow/Monday after recently finishing my norethistertone, I'm not looking forward to it :(
