After a few set backs, I have finally been given a transfer date (Thursday). And was wondering if anyone else is about to enter the tww. This is my first FET after my fresh failed. Last month my cycle got cancelled and the same nearly happen again. Now I’ve got a date I’m so excited and would love to chat to others going through the same.Xx

Hi @Needtotalkivf19, I’ve been given a transfer date of Thursday too. I’m doing a fresh cycle though, so fingers crossed everything beforehand goes to plan!

Why did your cycle get cancelled last month?

Needtotalkivf19 · 02/08/2020 23:12

Hi @Ro198, looks like we will be in the tww together 🙂 did you have egg collection yesterday?? How did you get on and how did you find the progress???
My FET got cancelled last month due to my lining to thicken, the same happen this month but was able to add patches in time to save the cycle. I hope Thursday hurry’s up for us both. Sending lots of luck xx

Good luck to you too! Hopefully the next 2 and a bit weeks doesn’t drag too much for us.

Yes I had egg collection on Saturday. I’m still a bit sore but think the bloating is starting to go down now.

So glad for you that you managed to use the patches in time to save your cycle, that must have been a worry!

Have you decided when you’ll test? Are you going to wait for the blood test at the clinic or do it at home beforehand?

K670 · 03/08/2020 14:29

Hello! Could I join? I have my transfer on Wednesday. It's my first FET. I had to do a freeze all due to OHSS and had just started the medication for my FET when everything stopped due to Coronavirus so this will be my first transfer. Can't quite believe I've finally got here!

How are you both getting on/feeling about everything? Hope you are doing okay! Smile

K670 · 03/08/2020 14:32

Ps. I am new to mumsnet so I hope I have done this right! Grin

Ro198 · 03/08/2020 15:33

Hi @K670! I’m quite new as well so I don’t really know what I’m doing either and just hope for the best each time I click post!

I’m at the point now where I just want it done, I’m getting fed up of all the appointments and stress of waiting. If this doesn’t work I was planning on doing another cycle straight away, but now I think I’ll wait.

How are you feeling about it?

Needtotalkivf19 · 03/08/2020 15:40

Afternoon ladies, hope your having a good day!!
@Ro198 glad you are feeling abit better now, I was the same very bloated for a few days after, I think is the progesterone which causes it for me. Is this your first cycle?? How many eggs did you manage to get?? Regarding testing, I don’t think I will test early this time as last time I got very faint before test day and nothing on test day so made the situation worst. My clinic likes to do a blood test but I love so far away I prefer home test, but if I lived closer I’d definitely have a blood test as it tell you exactly want you level are.
@K670 welcome!! I feel the same I can’t believe I am finically here. I had a fresh cycle in February which failed but was lucky enough to have two frozen. We was getting ready to start a FET when Covid hit. We then try again last month but the progynova didn’t seem to be doing the job so it got cancelled, we tried agin this cycle on higher dose but things still didn’t seem to be working, I was lucky has they decided to add patches as well and they seem to have done the job. I was so happy to be given a date as I thought it was over again.
What is everyone else planning on doing about testing?? Will you test early or wait for OTD. I’m going to find it tricky because I haven’t even had transfer yet and it all I can think of. Xx

Yes it’s my first cycle. I got 13 eggs but 8 fertilised. The clinic are calling me with a day 3 update tomorrow morning.
How many did you manage to freeze from your previous cycle?
That testing situation sounds awful for you, it’s stressful enough waiting as it is.

Needtotalkivf19 · 03/08/2020 16:13

Good luck for tomorrow’s update, I have two frozen and had one put back last time. At collection we got 7 eggs, all 7 fertilised and day 3 5 was grade one and 2 grade two, but anything can happen xx

Hi @Ro198! I'm the same I just hit post and keep my fingers crossed!

I know what you mean, it's such a long slow process with so many stop/starts. My IUI was last June so it's been over a year since any chance of getting pregnant and it just seems so long. Doesn't seem real that transfer is two days away now! Have you done any other treatments before IVF? Is this your first round?

I wouldn't blame you for wanting to take a break, it's such a hard process to go through. Fingers crossed you won't need to do it again though! Good luck for tomorrow!

Hi @Needtotalkivf19! I'm so sorry to hear your fresh round failed. That's good you have two embryos. I've read of a few people having problems with their lining thickening on progynova. You must be so relieved they managed to save this cycle, it's a horrible disappointment when things are cancelled. I felt so deflated when I didn't get my fresh transfer. I felt like I'd been through it all for nothing!

Are you on progesterone tablets and pessaries now? I have been feeling so exhausted doing the FET and have started to feel really queasy and horrible. How have you found it? I actually find this harder than the fresh!

I am going to try and hold out for my otd (I say that now!). My clinic don't do bloods, you just have to do a home one unfortunately.

Let's hope the next few days go quickly for the three of us!

Ro198 · 03/08/2020 20:37

I haven’t tried any other treatments, we were ttc for 3 years and went to the nhs a year ago but the appointment kept coming through for the incorrect thing, so went straight for ivf privately.

Have either of you planned anything during the 2 weeks to keep yourselves busy, or just chilling at home? I’ll be working during the day and not doing much other than that!

K670 · 03/08/2020 22:52

My clinic is an NHS clinic and it has been a long and slow process (with plenty of mistakes) so I don't blame you for going private. My biggest regret is that we didn't just go private when we started fertility treatment as it's taken so long to get to this point!

I am off work at the moment but don't have anything planned for 2ww. It's just so difficult just now with the whole Coronavirus situation. I'm going to try and relax as much as I can but I don't think it'll be easy somehow!

Lt2020 · 04/08/2020 02:53

Im doing my first FET cycle. Mine is on Monday.
Wishing you all the best

Ro198 · 04/08/2020 08:29

Welcome @Lt2020, how are you feeling about Monday? Not long now!

@K670 how long did the process take on the nhs? I went for my first blood test in June 2019. I am still on the waiting list for an appointment which I should get back in September, so will still try and go down that route if this doesn’t work.

K670 · 04/08/2020 11:01

Hi @Lt2020! Hope you are getting on okay. Not long for you then! Is this your first FET?

@Ro198 We were referred for investigation about 3.5 years ago. We had to go through other treatment to get to the point of being offered IVF. I think it depends on what the issue is. We also did IUI prior to IVF (though looking back and with what the Consultant told use afterwards I wish we'd skipped that step) so that delayed things. We were finally put on the waiting list in July last year and I had my fresh round in January. You also need to have a hycosy on the NHS before IVF so it would depend if you have already done that privately.

K670 · 04/08/2020 11:02

@Lt2020 Ooops, sorry I just noticed you said it was your first FET! How have you found it so far?

Ro198 · 04/08/2020 11:08

@K670 that is so long!! I read about some people who get the referral and start 6 months later, it seems to vary so much for people. I haven’t had a hycosy so I guess I would be looking at a very long wait still.

K670 · 04/08/2020 11:16

@Ro198 It has felt like forever! I think if we'd known how long it would take we would have gone private. We did have a 4/5 month delay due to an unrelated medical issue.

If you are referred straight for IVF it might not be too bad. They may do the hycosy while you are on the waiting list. I'm not sure of the rules re that but it might not delay things. Really from going on the IVF waiting list and starting we were about 6 months and we happened to be due to start when the clinic have their shut down for maintenance so that delayed it a bit as well! It might not be as bad as you think but fingers crossed you won't ever need to find out! 🤞

Ro198 · 04/08/2020 11:30

Hopefully not but I feel like I need to plan as much as possible! I hate that this process puts lives on hold so much and you never know the outcome.

I’m still waiting for the embryologist to call with the day 3 update, did you hear first thing in the morning? I’m tempted to call the clinic at 12 if I haven’t heard, although I doubt that will make much difference!

K670 · 04/08/2020 15:16

@Ro198 I know what you mean, I like plan ahead and know what my next steps will be. I think one of the hardest things about this is your life constantly being on hold ☹

Have you had an update yet? I hope everything is okay. I don't remember getting a day 3 call. I got a call on day 5 and 6.

Ro198 · 04/08/2020 15:34

@K670 yes they called me! The call was a bit unclear but I think I’ve got 3 embryos at top grade, 3 okay ones, 1 that is developing too fast and 1 too slow - so 6 possible ones left in total. I don’t think I’ll get a call on day 5 though, it sounds like I just get the update in person before the transfer is done!

Lt2020 · 04/08/2020 17:07

@K670 It almost seems surreal. It seems Ive been waiting so long and now its almost here. Im excited yet nervous. I did the egg retrieval in March and froze all embryos. I had 13 eggs retrieved and 11 fertilized. Sent them off for genetic testing and now have 6 frozen embroys. Crazy how they can look at the embroys and see which ones are good. The medications have their ups and downs but taking it one day at a time. Hoping and praying for the best on Monday. What about you?

K670 · 04/08/2020 19:19

@Ro198 That's great news, six is a good number to be going on with! Hopefully you will have some to freeze then. I probably didn't get a day 3 update as I was doing a freeze all and they have to make it to day 5 for freezing. Keeping everything crossed that all six of them keep going until Thursday for you! 🤞

@Lt2020 I know exactly what you mean! I can't quite believe I'm finally here, doesn't feel real at all. Just praying now that they call in the morning and say there's been no issues with the thawing 🙏 Not feeling great on the medication. Have felt so exhausted/emotional and lately also quite queasy. I've found the FET harder going than the fresh if I'm honest!

Did you have to freeze due to Coronavirus? Six is amazing! You must be so pleased! I am with an NHS clinic so we never got offered the option of genetic testing. It's amazing what they can do these days! Lol Hopefully they can get us all pregnant!!! 🤞 You would think that would be simpler than genetically testing embryos!

Lt2020 · 04/08/2020 19:30

@K670
My clinic didnt really give the option to do a fresh transfer. Said the better option is to give uterus time to be back to normal after all those medications. Maybe its because of my age...who knows. They also really pushed for the genetic testing which was great because out of the 11 testing 5 had abnormalities. Just praying and hoping it works. Its so hard to think of going through all this again. Its all a waiting game. Ive been feeling just crummy. Headaches and nausea, just never know right. Hopefully in the end we can say it was worth it. Are you taking estrace to grow the uterine lining? How have the progesterone shots been?

K670 · 05/08/2020 17:41

@Lt2020 A consultant at my clinic did say that some clinics are moving to freeze all as there is evidence that it produces better outcomes. She said she thought it was only a matter of time before most clinics go that way. It's frustrating at the time but I think it probably is best to give your body a chance to recover before transfer. If we had the chance to do genetic testing I definitely would have. I've read of quite a few people who have had some abnormal embryos so I definitely think it's a good thing to do if you have the opportunity!

Yeah, I've been feeling rotten, especially the longer it goes on. I think all the medications really mess you up! I've been taking progynova tablets and cyclogest pessaries, I've not had to do injections this time. It's crazy how clinics all do everything so differently!
