Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

Hello all, I'm new here, may I join please?

TTC for 3 years and my first round of IVF should start in Sept. Now just waiting for the appointment to sign the content forms and we are good to go.

Hi @kassT welcome.

JandL2020 · 18/08/2020 08:16

Welcome 😊 xx
Got my schedule through yesterday - baseline next Tuesday 😃 progress 🙌

79andnotout · 18/08/2020 12:12

Welcome @KassT!

I had my baseline scan yesterday and my covid test. The baseline scan was good - he could see that I'd not long finished ovulating from my left ovary (I'd felt it twinge so good to know that was correct). Everything looked pretty normal. He counted 7 follicles on each ovary. I got 18 a year ago, but that seemed high to me then, so I'm happy with 14. I hope they're not all crap quality! I'm going refined carb free for the duration of my cycle. I'm a sugar addict but it needs to be done. Especially if I can't do all the exercise I usually do to burn it off.

The covid test wasn't too bad, didn't mind the throat one at all, but the nostril ones go quite far up! My nose was running and tingling for the rest of the day. I think I have to do it every time I go in, which I'm not looking forward to.

ivfjourney5 · 18/08/2020 13:28

@79andnotout 14 follicles is great! I also try to cut down on sugar and pack in the fruit and veg, as soon as AF arrives I'll do an IVF food shop 😂

@JandL2020 good to hear you've had your schedule, gives you done dates to focus on

@KassT wishing you all the best for your first round. There's a good bunch of people on here if you have any questions

I've had to book a last minute day off work today, the side effects have hit a peak. Just need to wait for AF over the next couple of days then I can start progynova which will thankfully help the side effects from the buserelin!

79andnotout · 18/08/2020 14:00

That's a good idea @ivfjourney5 - I'll put and fruit and veg and fish order in. I can just about eat completely healthily for a month, I think, before the chocolate calls out to me again!

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 14:40

@79andnotout 14 follicles is amazing! Glad you’re off to a great start!

@KassT welcome! Hope your appt for consents comes through quickly 😊

@JandL2020 yay how exciting! Roll on next Tuesday!!

@ivfjourney5 sorry you’re not feeling great today - glad you were able to take the day off. Hope the side effects ease up. Are you still on buseralin?

I’m off work today too but the lack of normal routine meant I completely forgot to take my norethisterone tablet this morning! I remembered a couple of hours later but does anyone know if there are any issues in not taking it at exactly the same time each day?! I usually take one at 10am and one at 10pm xx

KassT · 18/08/2020 14:49

Thank you everyone for welcoming me.

I just found out I've a phone appointment booked for next week, I'm not sure what is that for, was told the next appointment should be to see the nurse and sign the consent form. Emailed the front desk they couldn't tell me anything useful......

@Lemongrass1 hello, I read your post that you did the signing over the phone? Did you have to post the form afterwards?

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 14:56

@KassT my consent signing was over the phone - the nurse emailed me the forms ahead of the call and then we discussed them. I printed and signed them and brought them in at my next scan x

KassT · 18/08/2020 15:03

@HavingFaith that's great to know, thank you!! I have everything crossed that the next week appointment will be it Grin do my hubby need to be on the phone to sign together then?

poupou · 18/08/2020 15:03

Welcome @KassT and excellent start @79andnotout!

I am also trying to be healthier but i think the anxiety and stress of the upcoming fet is not helping. And i didnt handle all the side effects from the drugs very well last time as also the no exercise part as its the only thing that calms me down.

I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well @ivfjourney5. I hope it gets slightly better and i read that once you stopped it the side effects are gone very fast!

@HavingFaith ! It doesnt have to be exactly the same time but do not take it twice if you missed a dose completely. If you missed it by a few hours take the pill and the next one around 10 to 12 h and continue as before with your schedule. This is what i know at least.

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 15:30

@poupou thank you! Hopefully it’ll be ok as I took it about 2hours later than I normally would.

@KassT my hubs was on the phone too but I don’t think it would have made a difference if he wasn’t. We didn’t sign them while on the call, just discussed them. We then signed it in our own time and I took them in a couple of days later at my scan appt.

Does anyone get hot flushes on buseralin? Trying to figure out if it’s that or just me!

poupou · 18/08/2020 15:36

@HavingFaith! Its fine after 2 hours. Dont worry about this!
I heard that hot flashes is a very common side effect! But i am starting to get very anxious about the side effects of buseralin as it appears they are not mild!
I hope its not bad for you.

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 15:49

@poupou oh really!! They’re so intense that my hubs has been shoving a thermometer in my mouth about 10times a day because we’re so paranoid about Covid 🤣🤣

Lemongrass1 · 18/08/2020 17:28

@KassT welcome to the group! We did the consents signing on video call and I just take them in when we have our downreg scan in a few weeks. You’re OH will need to be on the call to do the signing as it has to be witnessed

@JandL2020 great news on the date for baseline scan!

@79andnotout great news on the scan, 14 follicles sounds brilliant! I’m doing a low carb diet (for ages now) and I’m really craving carbs and all things unhealthy 😂 think I’ll take a break this weekend

@ivfjourney5 sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. I hope the symptoms improve with the progynova

@havingfaith I wouldn’t worry about a slightly late dose of the norethisterone. It’s highly unlikely to cause problems. Sorry about the hot flushes, I understand it’s a common side effect. Essentially you’ve been put into a ‘mini menopause’ 😬

@poupou try not to get worried, you don’t know what/ if you will have any side effects with the buserelin until you take it

Hugs to everyone having side effects with down reg. I feel really bad that I’ve got no symptoms this time. Starting to wonder if it’s working now 😅

JandL2020 · 18/08/2020 17:43

Paid for my meds today - I was surprised it only coming to £500 ish would have imagined it was more? I’m on short protocol so maybe that’s why?

poupou · 18/08/2020 17:52

thanks @Lemongrass1! And its great that you dodnt get any side effects! Some people
Dont get any and doesnt mean that it didnt work! Just different people

@HavingFaith! Oh dear! You made me laugh so thanks! But on a serious note maybe cold water would Help! I hope this ends soon for you! If i recall correct you are on the same protocol as me so maybe the dose now is higher but will be reduced or stopped after AF.

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 17:59

@Lemongrass1 I second what @poupou said, no side effects doesn’t mean it isn’t all working perfectly 😊 I didn’t get a single side effect during down reg and stimming last time.

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 18:00

@poupou yes, I’m currently on 0.5 of buseralin and then that’ll drop to 0.2 if all goes well at the scan. Is that the same for you?

poupou · 18/08/2020 18:09

@HavingFaith exactly the same yes! Sooo i think side effects will be better with lower dose! I am 2 weeks behind you essentially!
Starting norethisterone this saturday! You are almost there! Sending lots of positivity!

Lemongrass1 · 18/08/2020 18:48

@HavingFaith that’s interesting they drop the dose. I stay on 0.5 until they start progesterone. And then I swap the buserelin injections for lubion injections so no respite from the jabs!

OP posts:
HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 21:42

@Lemongrass1 I wish I understood all the reasonings for starting/stopping meds! I think my dose gets lowered at the same time as starting progesterone tablets and then when I introduce the progesterone injections, that’s when I stop the buseralin. So ours are similar-ish!

HavingFaith · 18/08/2020 21:43

@poupou not long till you’re starting! Hope the norethisterone is kind to you!

poupou · 18/08/2020 22:12

@HavingFaith @Lemongrass1. The day of the scan after the AF (scan 1-4 days after AF) they will adjust the buserelin dose depending on whether there is complete suppression of the ovaries. If there are still producing hormones they keep the 0.5 ml dose to achieve complete suppression before starting oestrogen. If they find that they are completely suppressed they will adjust the dose usually reducing it to 0.2 mo and start preparation of the lining with oestrogen. I think as they want to still not have ovulation they are continuing the buserelin but as they want to see preparation of the lining they reduce the dose to maybe a maintenance dose? This is what i understand at least.

poupou · 18/08/2020 22:46

@HavingFaith ! Fingers crossed for noretheristone! Thank you
