Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

I’m not on norethisterone, I just start buserelin tomorrow morning and usually bleed day 11/12 of injections. My last bleed wasn’t really a period though (it was a withdrawal bleed from failed medicated FET) so I don’t know if bleed will actually come later! I hope not as I’ve (optimistically) booked a day off for the downreg scan 😬

Sorry that last response was for @HavingFaith

@Lemongrass1 sorry your last FET didn’t result in a BFP, but fingers, toes and everything crossed that this one does! Hope your injection goes well tomorrow.

Just had a read back so I could remind myself where everyone is at!

@Evey43 were you able to start your meds this weekend? Hope all is ok and going to plan

@ivfjourney5 how are you getting on with the buseralin?

Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday evening! I’m currently having a meltdown because the hairdresser cut my hair about two inches shorter than I wanted 😩😩 but this makes a change from my usual IVF related meltdowns ha!

ivfjourney5 · 14/08/2020 21:32

@HavingFaith it's going alright thanks, I'm 8 days I'm now, having some side effects but I'm coping with it. I'm having my injections in the evening. Im looking forward to finishing norethistertone on Sunday though! One less thing to worry about forgetting to take. I'm sorry to hear about your hair, must be really frustrating!

HavingFaith · 14/08/2020 22:26

@ivfjourney5 glad it’s all going well for you! Roll on Sunday and saying goodbye to norethisterone!

Lemongrass1 · 15/08/2020 08:17

@ivfjourney5 glad you’re managing to cope with the buserelin. I’ve just taken my first injection! Not sure what/ if I’ll get any side effects. It’s never quite the same with each use. Feels odd to be starting treatment again! When are you expecting AF? X

@HavingFaith annoying about the hair, but it will grow back soon 😁

@JandL2020 I haven't been prescribed antisickness for IVF drugs but I take various antisickness for migraines and my immunotherapy treatment so I take metaclopramide & domperadine & ondanestron depending on what it's for. All safe during IVF & pregnancy

@thefishthatcouldwish I also missed about your dad I'm sorry 😞sending hugs

@HavingFaith so annoying about your hair!! I hate that!! I'm not that keen on my hair either after my first hairdressing trip after lockdown but meh

Hi everyone, exciting to see some people have started!

I have been really suffering with sciatica and DH and me have been debating putting it off till next cycle so I can keep taking naproxen. Clinic said I would need to stop NSAIDs on CD1. However almost as soon as I was resigned that this month was a no go I feel it is starting to improve! I am suddenly in the very odd situation of wanting AF to be a couple of days late (due on Tuesday) so I can continue with stretches, pain relief and moving and potentially go ahead this month!

Does anyone have any experience of PICSI? We are going to use this this time round due to poor sperm quality and after the last 7 months of being very pessimistic I am starting to feel a little optimistic that changing this might help. I have also been taking every supplement under the sun and have read that egg quality can repair sperm damage.

HavingFaith · 15/08/2020 21:29

@UnicornPuff glad the pain is beginning to ease - really, really hope it continues to get better

I’ve never heard of PICSI! Just googled it though and it sounds great and hopefully means anyone using this method has the best possible chance at good fertilisation rates. We had ICSI because of very low sperm count (all other parameters were good) and that worked well for us.

As much as I get a little frustrated with the process, I’m amazed at the science of it all

HavingFaith · 15/08/2020 21:34

@UnicornPuff did you do ICSI last time? x

UnicornPuff · 15/08/2020 21:38

@HavingFaith yes we did ICSI last time and 7 out of 9 fertilised but unfortunately after day 3 they went downhill pretty fast!

poupou · 15/08/2020 22:16

Hello to all! I was wondering any side effects from norethisterone and buserelin?
I was taking norethisterone for my fresh cycle and had obvious water retention and very bloated! A bit of headache as well but was drinking lots of water! I never took buserelin before but i will be taking this with norethisterone for about a week! Starting next saturday and i am already anxious!
I bled after 3 days on norethisterone @ivfjourney5 but it can be between 3 to 10 they said this time! Dont know why it might be longer!

tryingtostaypostive · 15/08/2020 22:22

@all hi do you mind if I jump on.. I had a transfer back in June BFP.. then lots of things happening went for a 6 weeks scan the heart was very slow.. then went for 7 weeks scan they wasn't happy with the size, had to go back 8 weeks it hadn't grown in 2weeks, doctor said this isn't going to proceed, stopped medication had to wait for heartbeat to stop. Then was send to ERPC last week. Had my review this week, an been told I can do a natural cycle using a trigger shot. I have 3 still frozen.. I was on a group before an found it a lot easier and helpful when going through ivf again.. that was my second attempt,
I'm not sure about the natural cycle I'm
A little worried. Actually I'm really worried about it all again..
so I have to wait for this period to start, then on day 11 have a scan to get ovulation then they will say when to do the trigger shot. No meds not even pesseries..
please would you mind if I stay on the group, hubby is lovely but sometimes don't think they understand how hard it is emotionally

Sorry I went into so much detail
Hope you all have a lovely weekend

UnicornPuff · 15/08/2020 22:31

@tryingtostaypostive I am so sorry to hear you went through this. These groups are really good like you said. You can never go into too much detail, if you need to offload this is the place. I have everything crossed for you that this time ends in a happy and healthy pregnancy.

tryingtostaypostive · 15/08/2020 22:37

@UnicornPuff thank you.. these groups are amazing especially the 2WW which I didn't think I was going to do again.. thank you for letting me join..
I'm so scared this time round.. I don't think I could go though all that again..
an I know a lot of people are doing medicated cycles, so wasn't sure if I would be able to join the group. This is my first natural cycle.. not sure why we're doing it this way now..
An I feel like I'm being a bit judged rushing back into it again after just gone through all of what happened

HavingFaith · 15/08/2020 22:46

@tryingtostaypostive welcome to the group 😊 I’m so sorry to hear what you went through.
As for you feeling judged - only you know how you feel and what’s right for you xx

@poupou I’m on norethisterone and just did my first buseralin injection this evening. So far, the norethisterone (this is day 8 on it) has been giving me bad cramping and slight nausea. But I only took buseralin as part of my trigger last time so I have no idea how I’ll feel being on both.

poupou · 15/08/2020 22:47

@tryingtostaypostive i am
So so sorry for what you went through. And i completely understand when you say that you dont know whether you can go through this again. I found that one step at the time helps me a lot as well as these amazing groups! Take it a day at the time and be positive! Iam sending positive energy and thoughts! Lastly, please never feel judged about your choices and how to choose to proceed! This is the right thing for you and you know best!

poupou · 15/08/2020 22:50

Thanks @HavingFaith! I hope buserelin wont have major effects for you either! And i hope noretheristone"s one will get better!

HavingFaith · 15/08/2020 23:01

@poupou same to you! Norethisterone can be hit and miss with its side effects so hope it’s kind to you this time round!

Lemongrass1 · 16/08/2020 00:07

@poupou this is my fourth go at buserelin. I haven’t taken norethisterone together with buserelin though but have had norethisterone loads before holidays etc to delay period with no side effects. With buserelin the first two times I had vivid dreams and headaches. Last time no physical symptoms but felt depressed. But I’m not sure if that was actually the buserelin or if I just felt depressed and stressed by the whole process! Just taken my first buserelin this am and no effects so far 🤞

@tryingtostaypostive that sounds incredibly hard, so glad you are able to try again. Please don’t think people here will judge you. And it doesn’t matter what kind of cycle you are on in terms of joining in, I think some people are doing FETs (of various different types) and fresh cycles (of various types!). It’s all different means to the same end 😁

@HavingFaith yay to having the first injection down 👍

@UnicornPuff glad to hear pain is getting better, hope you don’t have to delay the cycle x

OP posts:
HavingFaith · 16/08/2020 00:41

@Lemongrass1 yay to you too! Glad your first injection went well x

poupou · 16/08/2020 00:44

Thank you both @Lemongrass1 and @HavingFaith ! Fingers crossed side effects wont be major!

tryingtostaypostive · 16/08/2020 07:48

Thank you all for welcoming me..
as for burcerlin, when I was on them I found I had mood swings, an emotional, an headaches. my partner when we went for the consultation this time an they said we didn't have to have it his face lol..
I found if I used it just at the side of my belly button it didn't hurt, pinch it.
I phoned the nurses once an said about it an they said it can be, plus the added stress of having to do it, an then emotional of the transfers or egg collection.

Hope your all being kind to yourself :)

Lemongrass1 · 16/08/2020 09:36

@tryingtostaypostive haha, my partner hates it when I’m taking meds. I think I’m emotionally a lot more labile than I realise when I’m on treatment 🤣 Hopefully natural cycle is kinder on your body. I can’t do it as ovulation is pretty unpredictable for me. Don’t think our clinic is offering it at the moment anyway as they want to control all the cycle appt timings during the pandemic
