Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Sian7919 I am so so sorry that you didn’t get the news you hoped for, sending you a virtual hug, don’t blame yourself lovely, people blame one another when they’re hurting, men aren’t as good as dealing with their feelings. Remember it’s ok to cry and feel sad! And I’m wishing you the best of luck for what’s to come x

@Evey43 the nurse told me FET can take a little longer to implant than a fresh cycle so I would hold off testing too early🤞🏼

Rumtopf · 09/09/2020 16:17

@Sian7919 I'm so sorry to read your news. Hopefully they can look further into it for you and come up with positive steps for your next round when you feel strong enough. Your dh sounds like he's grieving too, I hope he can come round from saying such unhelpful comments and support you, you've really been through the mill.

@Evey43 when we had our FET in July I was told to test 10 days after transfer as it was a 5 day blast. Fingers crossed for you!

@JenniferRo28 sorry to hear you're having a bad day, I hope work eases for you a bit. Can you access any counselling through your clinic to help with your anxiety?

@J1984 good luck for your two eggs! I hope you and your wife enjoyed that cake. Here's hoping for a brilliant update from the embryologist.

@ChicaXS I hope the increased dose gives you a good result at your scan on Friday. It's all so frustrating.

My scan was ok today. 2 eggs doing well, 1 catching up, another 4 on the small side so I've got to keep on til another scan on Friday and then EC scheduled on Monday. Lining looked good so that's one thing. I'm feeling a bit jaded about it all today tbh but it's probably just all the meds causing low mood.

monsterad · 09/09/2020 16:30

Can I jump on here? I'm not sure if I'm September or October actually. This cycle we're doing some drugs to thicken my lining to ensure a good bleed before IVF next cycle.

This cycle I'll also be having a dummy transfer between days 6-13.

I'm currently waiting for my period after a failed IUI cycle.

In limbo! As I'm sure a lot of us are x

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/09/2020 16:34

@Sian7919 please don’t blame yourself. It is not your fault.

@JenniferRo28 oh no Sorry they are causing you problems.

I had 5 eggs make it overnight. The one is top grade the other two are B grades and one is a low B grade and one a C grade.

They have told me transfer could be tomorrow or Saturday or Sunday.

They told me to come straight to clinic but they may call and delay transfer that mornings. That said it is a 2 hour journey to clinic.

Birdladybird · 09/09/2020 16:36

Hello, hope you don't mind me joining. I've just had all my tests completed and have my appointment on 13th October when i'll get the prescriptions for all the drugs i'll need. I'm not in the UK so slightly different but i've absolutely no idea what to expect.

Rumtopf · 09/09/2020 16:55

@thefishthatcouldwish that's good news! How many are you having transferred back?

Hi @monsterad I'd not heard of a dummy run transfer, I think that's a brilliant idea as I was very anxious about it last time. Hope all goes well for you.

@Birdladybird hi and good luck for your cycle. Whereabouts are you? Hope you can keep busy and not be too impatient waiting.

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/09/2020 16:58

@Rumtopf if tomorrow then the one top grade one if Saturday I can choose one or two. I am nervous now stressed I can’t get cover for work.

HavingFaith · 09/09/2020 17:06

@Sian7919 oh love, I’m so sorry you’re not getting the support you need from your partner. As others have said, I’m sure it was said out of a moment of grief. Really hope you’re doing whatever you can to look after yourself (which I hope includes some chocolate and alcohol) xx

@Evey43 you must be feeling so anxious but I’m hoping the cramps are a positive sign of pregnancy!xx

@Rumtopf glad your scan went well! Roll on EC and the smaller ones catching up xx

@thefishthatcouldwish yay, great news!! Eeek how exciting ET is so soon! But still a bit of limbo about the actual day - this whole process is just a constant emotional rollercoaster!

Welcome @Birdladybird and @monsterad

I’m feeling totally normal today - no cramping which is a good thing but making me wander what my lining is up to! I have a blood test the morning of ET so they can check progesterone levels, so hopefully if they’re low we can give it a boost quickly.

Evey43 · 09/09/2020 17:29

@monsterad @Birdladybird good luck starting your journeys, these forums can be a great help.

@thefishthatcouldwish Hope transfer goes well, tricky not knowing the day

@Rumtopf thanks that has made me feel a bit better that it’s no too early. I hope Monday goes well. @LKSF she did say to test again Monday and continue with meds if it’s negative.

Xx

Evey43 · 09/09/2020 17:31

@HavingFaith thank you, I hoping so. I hope all goes well with your progesterone levels and transfer xx

LKSF · 09/09/2020 17:33

@Evey43 hopefully you have a high level of hcg and them two lines appear straight away 🤞🏼X

monsterad · 09/09/2020 17:35

It's apparently so they get an idea of placement, cervix height and shape etc etc before dealing with embryos on the day

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/09/2020 18:23

Was in work today now have tummy pain think I pushed myself too much.

Feel the most stressed I have on whole journey. Have convinced myself it’s not gunna happen,

ivfjourney5 · 09/09/2020 19:25

@thefishthatcouldwish that must be annoying not knowing what day so you can plan for it. Do they know you have a 2 hour journey? You could speak to your GP about getting signed off for a bit if you feel it'll help. Rest yourself this evening and I hope the belly pain eases, do you have a manual job?

@Birdladybird good luck! It's a good idea to write any questions down for your appointment, I know if I hadn't wrote them down I would have missed a few

JandL2020 · 09/09/2020 19:25

@thefishthatcouldwish Have you got a hot water bottle? Been a god send for me today. The doctor told me strict rest until transfer which seems a bit extreme. I’m going to go for a walk tomorrow or Friday if feel up to it. The cramps are shit at the moment though xx

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/09/2020 19:35

@Birdladybird I second take a pen and paper and any questions as my mind always goes blank.

@ivfjourney5 I’m a pre school manager and lead. Been busy day with children not lifted anybody but haven’t stopped all day.

@JandL2020 no hot water bottle but have one of those microwave teddies which I might use. My dr said just do what you can and no weight lifting or using machinery for the week.

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/09/2020 19:41

Also clinic know I’m two hours away but they said just come anyway and if they don’t need me they will let me know either on the way or when I get there! Wasn’t impressed by that.

JandL2020 · 09/09/2020 19:49

@thefishthatcouldwish sounds like you’ve been rushed off your feet. I’m finding it hurts just to walk I’m such a wimp! My job ordinarily involves a lot of heavy manual handling but since moved jobs and working from home - It’s boring as hell but I definitely couldn’t be working in a busy hospital right now. There was a post on instragram earlier which really resonated with me -about infertility and boredom like you’re stuck in this wave of boredom and I completely get that. You can’t move forward and your life is just on hold...it sucks xx

poupou · 09/09/2020 19:59

@JandL2020 i totally agree with you! Everything is about ivf and i constantly thinking worrying about it and it feels like i am stuck and can not do much else.
My scan today was good no activity or cysts and lining very suppressed at 2.8 cm. Starting progynova tonight as they told me to only take one instead of 3 together at night as nausea will be too much! Fingers crossed for thick lining. Also told me to exercise if i want to as its fine.
@ivfjourney5 best of luck for tmr!

JandL2020 · 09/09/2020 20:04

@poupou that’s good news. I’m not allowed to swim for a while which sucks as it’s my favourite sport. Think I need to start baking a Christmas cake or something else to distract me X

poupou · 09/09/2020 20:30

@JandL2020 it sucks to not be able to do much. Sorry for asking but i i am a bit lost with the updates here. Why no exercise at all?

ChicaXS · 09/09/2020 20:38

Thanks ladies for all your responses! Great news for some of you and so sorry again to Sian :( I hope your partner gets his act together btw!

I have follicles but the biggest is now 11mm which really at this stage should be much larger. The doctor today seems to think I was on a low dose due to my PCOS hence the increase. You are all right - it’s always a tester and they predict what our bodies would react too yet sometimes unfortunately there’s always a wrong protocol. I have good news where I can start a cycle with the nhs as soon as October. I think it’s too soon but I have a feeling that this cycle may not work anyway. I asked the doctor and she said go for it as long as I have two bleeds (6-8 weeks break).

poupou · 09/09/2020 20:42

@ChicaXS so sorry for the not great news. On which day stimulation are you? Maybe they can continue for a bit longer at a higher dose?

JandL2020 · 09/09/2020 20:59

He just told me to rest until transfer. I guess light exercise is fine and it depends on your exercise level prior and how you feel. At the moment I’m quite happy to be lazy bum on the sofa xx

ChicaXS · 09/09/2020 21:13

@poupou thanks! I’m on day 9 stimulation-so pretty immature for the stage oi should be at. I was like this ovulation induction too - took 21 days to ovulate. When I explain this to the doctors, they do tend to dismiss it and still keep me on low dose anyway!
