Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@ChicaXS essentially they can stimulate you up to day 16 and i think there are people that have been stimulating for longer than that. It might mean that it will be an all freeze but it wont be completely wasted. And some people take longer to get where they should be! Increase your protein intake as well and light exercise for the blood to flow! Best of luck

poupou · 09/09/2020 21:33

@JandL2020 enjoy it!!!

I'm new but interested in what you mean by 'all freeze'?

Birdladybird · 09/09/2020 22:00

@Rumtopf I am In France. Lucky as we get 3 IVF attempts covered on the healthcare here. Everyone does regardless of whether you already have children up to age 43.

Thanks for the welcome, rubbish at tagging people but have taken note of your suggestion to write down my questions!

@Sian7919 I’m so sorry for your sad news Sad

ivfjourney5 · 09/09/2020 22:02

@monsterad 'all freeze' is when any embryos that are created and good quality will get frozen and there isn't a fresh transfer. If the number of eggs that are collected is high the clinic won't allow a fresh transfer 3-5 days later due to OHSS (over stimulation) risk which can be quite serious. Then a FET (frozen embryo transfer) will take place about 8 weeks after egg collection. You'll get the hang of the basic lingo soon x

monsterad · 09/09/2020 22:06

Thanks @ivfjourney5

Can anyone tell me about egg collection? Is it bad? I'm no wimp, just wondering really

JandL2020 · 09/09/2020 22:07

@ChicaXS my clinic stimmed me longer but kept me on the same dose because my amh was high. I’m not sure how many eggs which were retrieved today were of decent size. I guess I find out tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you xx

ivfjourney5 · 09/09/2020 22:14

Thanks @poupou it's safe to say I'm crapping myself. I've done all that I can do the last few days so I'm just praying it's enough 🤞🏼

zebra80 · 09/09/2020 22:15

Hi all

Just catching up as I felt I needed a couple of days not thinking about the process at all. Feel like the last 3 years have been building up to this process and now it's finally here I almost don't want things to progress, because as long as I'm still in limbo it's still a possibility it'll work... Had another scan today (day 10 stims) and only one follicle really big enough so I've to keep on the menopur for another 2 days, scan again on Friday and probably EC Monday.

@Sian7919 so sorry to hear your outcome - I hope your partner has got over his initial shock a bit and is being more helpful and supportive. Take as much time as you need to feel however you feel xx

@ChicaXS here's hoping the follicle development picks up now with the increased dose, how frustrating.

@monsterad welcome :-) AIUI sometimes after fertilisation the clinic will make the decision not to transfer any straight away, and instead to freeze them all for future frozen cycles - I think this is usually if OHSS happens. Dummy run sounds a great idea - I have insides like a picasso apparently so am a bit nervous about EC & ET.

@Rumtopf sounds like we're on the same schedule probably, fingers crossed for Friday's scan. Totally know what you mean about feeling disillusioned at points - it's such a difficult process even without the added ups and downs of the hormones.

@thefishthatcouldwish that's great news on your embryos but sorry you're having to faff around with the travel to the clinic - not ideal :-( I'm sure you feel very keen not to let people down at work but they will cope without you, please take the time if you need it.

@Birdladybird hello! Hope things go well for you - how are the covid restrictions where you are?

@JenniferRo28 sorry your mood's been affected - my anxiety's been worse on the stims too. Although I'm not 100% comfortable I've found it helpful to go for a very slow walk and do some easy exercises since exercise is my usual way of managing it. Is that feasible for you? Is there a nice park or something nearby? I am usually really conscientious about work (healthcare) but have really managed to just say 'no I can't' to a lot of stuff for a couple of weeks which has helped. Hope you get a good sleep tonight and feel better tomorrow.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, good luck to everyone with procedures/news tomorrow x

@monsterad I had mine today. I found it really helpful to read “get a life his and hers survival guide to ivf” and the chapter on egg collection. It’s a very strange sensation of lying down - not being aware you are asleep then waking up in the recovery room. I don’t even remember them putting the sedation in, and I’ve never had an operation or anything but I found it fine! I didnt have any blood pressure or issues with feeling tired etc.so I went home quite quickly - in fact I asked to leave as my partner hates hospitals etc Only thing I’ve found today is the pain so make sure you have a hot water bottle and pain relief to hand once you’re home. Also drink plenty of water for the rest of the day. I’ve also felt a bit constipated but that’s probably because I’ve eaten crap today. Good luck Xx

Glad it went smoothly today for you! I shall buy a hot water bottle at some point this week in preparation

poupou · 09/09/2020 23:03

@ivfjourney5 ! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

KassT · 09/09/2020 23:32

@Sian7919 so sorry for the news, I wish you all the best for your next round. Sending you hugs.

Sorry I can't keep up with everyone's progress but hope we have more good news on this thread tomorrow, good luck all ❤️

I've just had my last dose of norethisterone, whoop whoop 🙌🏻 can't wait for the next stage.

Birdladybird · 10/09/2020 06:01

@zebra80 fingers crossed for those stims to do their job!

Restrictions here are good. Masks wearing is compulsory everywhere as is 1 meter distancing but that’s it really. The only thing that affected us really was that they changed the ivf requirements due to covid so it’s delayed us. We were ready to go in May/June but the max BMI lowered by 5 points which took me over Hmm so I’ve been loosing weight. I’ve lost 10kgs over summer but recently the weight limit has been raised back to normal.

HavingFaith · 10/09/2020 07:59

Morning ☺️

@ivfjourney5 good luck for your scan today! I really, really, really hope your lining is nice and thick! x

@J1984 & @JandL2020 fingers crossed for positive embryologist calls x

@thefishthatcouldwish if you do have ET today, I hope it all goes perfectly to plan! If not, I hope your clinic call you before you start the journey! x

@poupou so glad to hear your scan went well! And yay for starting progynova! When’s your next scan?x

@Evey43 how are you feeling today?

I hope everyone has lovely Thursdays, filled with good news and few side effects! x

poupou · 10/09/2020 08:15

@HavingFaith ! Thank you! Started progynova and didnt have any effects but its still day one. Next scan is next thursday! I am very worried about lining and if it will go above 8. Do you know your baseline thickness? How was the blood thinning injection?

HavingFaith · 10/09/2020 08:23

@poupou fingers crossed the progynova does its job and you’re all goof next Thursday 🤞 I don’t know what my baseline lining was - I didn’t even think to ask. I was so worried I’d have a cyst, that when they said everything looked good I jumped up and got dressed so quickly before they could change their mind ha!

The nurses warned me the blood thinner would hurt, you guys warned me it would hurt....but it really bloody hurt! It actually brought a tear to my eye. But it is definitely the simplest injection - no mixing or changing needles. My DH does all my injections and he was impressed by the pre-filled syringe 🤣

poupou · 10/09/2020 08:42

@HavingFaith! Thank youu! Haha i completely get you with heating the good news and rushing out! And i am so impressed with your husband! I am doing my own injections as i find it easier if the pain is self inflicted and i and iam in control! Haha! We tried with my husband doing it and he was weirdly very good despite a needle phobia! But he will be back in duty with the progesterone injections! Best of luck and lots of positive vibes for tmr!

JenniferRo28 · 10/09/2020 09:04

Morning everyone :-)

Thank you for your kind words yesterday, I am feeling much better today, had a good long walk last night and cleared my head. I think I’m putting myself under a lot of pressure because I was recently promoted to a manager at work and don’t want to fail cause it took me a while to get to where I am. I work in an office and there’s only me and one other female and like 60 odd men 🙈 although my boss knows the script with me I’ve made it clear I don’t want it public knowledge so unfortunately there are some individuals who have clicked onto the fact I’m not my usual self and a bit distracted and they are deliberately making my life more difficult. I like to be in control and I’m struggling to let go for a while. Anyway, I’m done moaning now, my husband managed to talk me into taking today off so I plan to go for another walk and cuddle the dog and watch crap television all day.

Good luck to anyone who has scans, Ec’s or ET’s today - hope everything goes well x

ivfjourney5 · 10/09/2020 09:17

@HavingFaith thanks! Nervous wait this morning! I'm sorry the injection hurt, silver lining if it doesn't need preparing though

@KassT hopefully it won't be long before AF arrives

@thefishthatcouldwish hopefully today is the day! 🤞🏼

@JenniferRo28 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today, enjoy your day relaxing. Congrats on the promotion, I have a similar background, I already felt an added pressure to prove myself as I'm young for my role, but this emotional strain on top makes things so much harder. It's good that you've told your manager though to help ease the pressure

Good luck to everyone else today x

JandL2020 · 10/09/2020 09:19

@HavingFaith thank you. The embryologist called nice and early - some have fertilised and some have not made it but that’s to be expected. The next phone call won’t be until Saturday now X

HavingFaith · 10/09/2020 09:32

@JandL2020 that’s good news! The drop off is horrible but definitely to be expected ☺️ Will you have a fresh transfer on Monday?

@JenniferRo28 glad you’re feeling better and are having a self-care day! Very necessary as your work sounds really stressful but I’m always glad to hear of women bossing it!!

JandL2020 · 10/09/2020 09:45

@HavingFaith yeah looks like it will be fresh. If they had pumped me with more drugs I think it could have been a different outcome so I’m grateful xx

J1984 · 10/09/2020 10:16

Thabks for all the good wishes. We should find out today whether our 2 eggs fertilised or not. Finding myself refreshing the webpage as our clinic will update the client portal to which we have a password for. Tried to stay positive and hide the fact that I am shitting myself from the wife. Fingers crossed 🤞

thefishthatcouldwish · 10/09/2020 10:18

@JandL2020 hope all good for Monday.

On route to clinic for two embryo transfer. Accident on way so had to do detour!
