Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@thefishthatcouldwish that’s wonderful news! Fingers crossed for more great news tomorrow x

@Rumtopf good luck for tomorrow!x

@ivfjourney5 when is your next scan? I’ve been willing your lining along!x

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/09/2020 10:06

@Eggling totally get why you would cry. It is very emotional and a bloody hard journey to get to this point.

JandL2020 · 08/09/2020 10:11
@Rumtopf hope your scan tomorrow goes ok.

So clinic have rang. Out of 9. eggs 7 have fertilised. They will ring me again tomorrow with and update to see quality.
That’s fab! 🙌

Just had a scan to check my lining and it was 5mm. Not amazing but I’m only on day 6 of my cycle so I guess it can still grow a bit. I’m getting at least another 3 days of Gonal F and then another scan. My doctor wants the lining to get to 8mm at least... Some days I just get so annoyed with the whole process! The reason I have a thin lining is because I had an IUD for a couple of years and it destroyed my uterine lining. I would give anything to be able to go back in time and not have that IUD put in...or I could sue the bloody company making them! Not very helpful to be thinking like that but can’t help being really mad!

Rumtopf · 08/09/2020 11:12

@Tarsette my nurse said yesterday that lining tends to grow at 1mm per day so being 5mm on cd6 would hopefully be fine.

@thefishthatcouldwish that's amazing!

@Eggling I'm not surprised you had a little tear, all these steps are bringing you closer to where you want to be so very much.

Sian7919 · 08/09/2020 12:50

Just had the egg collection and there were only 3 eggs :( she said it looked like there were more on the scan but in reality no. All I can do is see what happens now. I wish there had been more. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all your messages today, really helped xxx

JandL2020 · 08/09/2020 12:58

@Sian7919 fingers and toes crossed you only need one and it’s quality over quantity. How do you feel after the sedation? X

HavingFaith · 08/09/2020 13:01

@Sian7919 try not to feel disheartened - those three could be the best quality and bring you all the success!xx

Sian7919 · 08/09/2020 13:02

@JandL2020 I feel fine. But just had a little cry, thinking of how the odds are stacked up against me. I’m just hoping for the best. But deep down I was hoping they’d retrieve at least 5. Nothing I can do now except wait. The staff have been very nice though.

JandL2020 · 08/09/2020 13:11

@Sian7919 sending a virtual hug. So much of this is beyond our control which absolutely sucks. I’m sure I’ll have a cry tomorrow as well it doesn’t take much to be fair. Do you have some chocolate? Xx

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/09/2020 13:15

Oh gosh @Sian7919 remember it only takes one good egg. Fingers crossed for the three eggs.

Sian7919 · 08/09/2020 13:22

I’ve just spoken to my partner, whilst waiting for the embryologist to come and speak to me. He said he managed to produce, but there wasn’t that much sperm :( I hope the embryologist comes with good news. It’s such a process all of this.

ivfjourney5 · 08/09/2020 13:24

@thefishthatcouldwish great fertilisation rate!

@Eggling glad you got good news at your scan

@HavingFaith my scan isn't until Thursday, just hoping and praying all the things I'm doing are helping

@Tarsette that lining is okay for day 6. My googling the other day said years on the pill can affect future lining, I was on the pill for nearly 11 years, doctors always say it won't affect future fertility 😭 it's so frustrating isn't it

@Sian7919 lower numbers can sometimes mean better quality so try to remain hopeful, I know it'll seem like a long wait until the update tomorrow morning. Rest up this afternoon and take care of yourself

ivfjourney5 · 08/09/2020 13:27

@Sian7919 they can swap to ICSI on the day if need be, so they will look at his sample and switch if it's needed x

Eggling · 08/09/2020 13:28

@Sian7919 well done for getting through ec! It's so stressful I know. Keeping everything crossed for your three eggs.

HavingFaith · 08/09/2020 13:29

@Sian7919 my husband got into a panic too thinking he hadn’t produced a lot - the embryologist explained that all men thank that and his volume was completely normal! She said Every other patient she sees has a similar panic so hopefully all is ok for you too!

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/09/2020 13:50

@Sian7919 men always thing it isn’t a lot they have produced.

Rumtopf · 08/09/2020 14:06

@Sian7919 don't be disheartened, you may have fewer eggs than you'd hoped for but they might be brilliant quality. Hope you've got a nice relaxed evening planned?

Hi everyone, hoping I can join for some support. Starting a long cycle, FET (not sure of the right lingo!) End of this month following a failed fresh cycle in July. Starting with proset on 1st day of cycle the of all goes well lots of cyclogest. Opted for additional lubion. Not sure what to expect or what I can do to try and improve implantation. Any tips on how to cope and what to expect would be great. wishing us all luck!

Sian7919 · 08/09/2020 15:53

Hi everyone, thanks for your messages. What a crazy day. I spoke with the embryologist and she said that there was less quantity than the previous sample, but they checked it, also to test it because I told them we had abstained for a while. She said that sample had a higher number than average of good quality sperm and that they had good motility so wanted to go ahead with IVF and not ISCI. When I saw my partner he was like, ‘oh my it was such an ordeal, likened the event to the film Apocalypse Now, as in deeply traumatic, I won’t go into the details lol and then he ran from where he parked to the hospital because he was late for his slot and said he nearly knocked a man down whilst running. Jesus. What would they do if they had to go through what we do? Unbelievable 😆 anyways, I should know tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Is it ok to have a bath now do you think? I would like to sleep but don’t want to be awake tonight, just bed rest and tv for me I think! Thanks for all your kind wishes and comments x x

That’s great news about the sperm quality. I don’t think you can have a bath unfortunately because of the infection risk. Anyone else correct me if I’m wrong X
79andnotout · 08/09/2020 16:59

Congrats @Sian7919 on getting eggs harvested! Hopefully a nice quality crop. I was disappointed with my low numbers too, but it probably didn't make much difference in the end, I was never likely to have enough to get frosties and I got to transfer, which was the main goal. Fingers crossed the next couple of days go smoothly for you too.

And yeah guys think they jizz pints of the stuff but it really isn't much. Maybe he was dehydrated? I made OH drink a litre of water before I left the car on the morning of collection as he's always dehydrated.

79andnotout · 08/09/2020 17:04

And yeah don't think you can have a bath, unfortunately. I'm not sure when we can. I'm desperate for one myself.

Sian7919 · 08/09/2020 18:01

Oops I may have had a bath... I seem to be doing everything wrong 🙄 well I didn’t put any products in the water and didn’t stay in for long. I’ve just hoovered the house. I draw the line at mopping... think I’ll go for a short walk... it’s going to be a long night. apparently two of my eggs went over, as in ripened over. I only had a scan at day 10.. maybe I would have had a different result had I had a day 8 scan. I think some places do that if I am not wrong? Anyway, what will be will be now. There were three eggs but the embryologist said one was smaller and darker, which did not sound promising. Hoping that I have some good news tomorrow. Hoping everyone else is doing ok xx

Koalabear23 · 08/09/2020 19:38

@Sian7919 my husband said the same thing so we googled it and it said the average is only a table spoon or something (must be true if google said it!). I think it looks like less in the pot. They also only need a couple of sperms. Glad it turned out ok.
Well done everyone for getting through today. I’ve got my lining scan tomorrow morning (FET), hoping it’s all going OK in there!
