Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Sian7919

Guys I’m really stressing. During this whole time the clinic didn’t really tell us much about the sperm collection and we haven’t had sex since before I started stims. I’ve just realised that for the best sperm quality your partner should abstain for 2-5 days. Have we blown it? Will he just be full of duds now? I darent say anything to him as don’t want to put him off. Why didn’t the clinic stress this to us more? :( he had a normal analysis btw
@Sian7919 I wouldn’t worry too much especially with normal analysis before. My clinic also hasn’t mentioned it and I think the guys bit is forgotten about. I think it was mentioned briefly during zoom call and on my egg collection details sent today it says abstain from intercourse not anything to do with ejaculation time’s. I know some clinics ask for last ejaculation to be day of trigger but my partners best sample was 4 days before last time, so we’ve gone with the same strategy xx
JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 20:47

@Sian7919

I wondered whether it might be best for him to ejaculate tonight but then as you say may not have anything for tomorrow! The nurse did not tell me this when she told me that I could take my trigger. Tbh the communication had been really shoddy, just given a leaflet to show me how to do the injections etc. I hope all is not lost. We haven’t had sexual since before stims!
That is really poor of them! I’m sure it will be fine don’t worry xx
Sian7919 · 07/09/2020 20:54

Trying not to panic. Thanks everyone.

Alexm06 · 07/09/2020 21:01

Yeah try not to stress I can’t imagine it’s the worst thing in the world if other clinics aren’t making it a big thing. I really wouldn’t worry

JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 21:04

@Alexm06

Yeah try not to stress I can’t imagine it’s the worst thing in the world if other clinics aren’t making it a big thing. I really wouldn’t worry
Yeah I was thinking the same thing x
JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 21:07

Well I’ve pulled the trigger 🙌 there looked like a bit was still left but most of it went in I think! Again not going to panic over a tiny bit! I can do no more now - hot water bottles all the way until Wednesday morning. Bring it on!! Xx

Alexm06 · 07/09/2020 21:31

@Sian7919 good luck for tomorrow!!
@JandL2020 exciting! That will be me tomorrow eve. Good luck for Wednesday!

ivfjourney5 · 07/09/2020 22:26

Sorry I've missed a load of messages but quickly scrolled through... I'm glad the triggers went well this evening, good luck to those with egg collections tomorrow
I'm still acting like a mad lady trying all the things google says might help to bulk up my lining, just finished the evening off with a self administered femoral massage before bed!

Lemongrass1 · 07/09/2020 22:37

@Sian7919 we weren’t told anything about this during our cycle. Definitely weren’t DTD during stims!! Probably was a load of ‘old’ sperm and it was fine anyway. If your partner had a normal analysis then there will be plenty of good sperm in that sample regardless. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know) X

Good luck to everyone for tmr with scans and egg collections!
@ivfjourney5 i completely fee you! Its the way i was trying to make my eggs get bigger! Be positive and with the increased dosage and the additional tricks the lining will increase. When is your next scan?

Sian7919 · 07/09/2020 23:07

Thanks everyone. Anxiety is really kicking in. Can feel my heart going. Other half is asleep, we’re up at 6.30. Keeping my fingers crossed. @JandL2020 well done with The trigger. It was a big relief when I did it. Night everyone x

UnicornPuff · 08/09/2020 07:15

@Sian7919 I am sorry you have had this added stress. Hope you are feeling a little bit better. I dont have any experience with this so can't really say either way. What i do know is men are constantly producing new sperm and it takes around 3 months for them to be fully formed. So he will have sperm it just might not be the freshest bunch. If there were no issues with his previous sample I cant imagine it will make too much of a difference as like I said the sperm is there.
Hope it all goes well today.

UnicornPuff · 08/09/2020 07:22

I cant keep up with this thread! Good luck to everyone having scans or EC or ET today!

@Evey43 and @79andnotout I am between you both and OTD is the 18th. I am already trying to stop myself symptom spotting 😂 its going to be a long couple of weeks! I have also taken the 18th as A/L last time I didn't think about it and thought I would be ok either way. I was not and cried a lot. So a learning curve!

JandL2020 · 08/09/2020 07:26

@Sian7919 good luck this morning xx

Evey43 · 08/09/2020 07:31

@UnicornPuff 😅, I feel like I need to keep a notepad to keep up with everyone.

Good luck for the 18th, I find symptom spotting gets worse the closer to OTD. I broke and tested early last time, but it didn’t really provide any reassurance so going to try and wait it out this time and keep my sanity!

ivfjourney5 · 08/09/2020 07:36

@Sian7919 hope it didn't take too long for you to fall asleep last night. Best of luck this morning x

HavingFaith · 08/09/2020 07:41

@Sian7919 good luck this morning! Thinking of you x

Think today is another busy one for scans, EC and ET! Hope all goes well for everyone xx

I can’t remember who, but someone asked me why I was on progesterone pessaries and injections - I honestly have no idea, seems like this is standard at my clinic.

79andnotout · 08/09/2020 07:46

Good luck @Sian7919 - if you're worried about the procedure itself there's nothing really to worry about, I found it the easiest part of the whole process, and the girls I was sharing a ward with had done it multiple times previously and they were very happy and relaxed too. And yeah as everyone says, if your partners sample was normal there's no need to worry about it being fresh. There will be millions of sperm itching to go in there, even if there's a few dead ones in the tubes themselves. I think that's the only difference it makes. We didn't time it right either as I triggered much earlier than I thought, although I had asked him to service himself every few days throughout the process. I don't know if he did, though, I didn't think it important enough to police it! And it was hard enough to get him to take some vitamins.

Sian7919 · 08/09/2020 07:54

Hi everyone, I’m on the ward. It’s boiling! But here and everything ok. Partner is back home waiting for his slot. I didn’t mention my worries to him, didn’t think it was fair. I’m sure it will be ok. However could have done with a reminder about the guy stuff, they are just forgotten here it seems. I managed to get some sleep, slightly broken but at least some. Thanks for all your kind words. They are much appreciated. Lol @79andnotout about the vitamins, I know right? Haha
There are just four women this morning and we are two per ward bay with curtains closed, so no talking, but hey will just close my eyes and wait. Felt a little bit uncomfortable walking in, so will be glad to have everything removed. Fingers crossed some are eggs and fertilize! Xx

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/09/2020 08:00

@Sian7919 good luck today. 👍

Good luck everyone who has stuff on today.

ivfjourney5 · 08/09/2020 08:35

@79andnotout I wish the hardest thing for us ladies was some vitamins! My husband started taking wellman back in Jan which gave him really bad pins and needles in his legs and feet, he used to moan so much!

79andnotout · 08/09/2020 09:09

@ivfjourney5 - yeah I know. I bought mine a pack of Wellman about three years ago when we started all this palaver and he's only just finished the packet!

Rumtopf · 08/09/2020 09:22

Good luck to everyone today! Hope all the collections go well.

The lack of advice for timings for our oh's is rubbish. I think our clinic said 4 days before when we had our first round but no mention of it this round. Although their communication generally this time round hasn't been as good. If I didn't feel so vulnerable I'd complain.

I've another scan tomorrow so they can advise when collection will be as I've got 2 eggs growing well and another 6 being a little slow. I'm cd10 today so a little concerned they won't catch up.

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/09/2020 09:39

@Rumtopf hope your scan tomorrow goes ok.

So clinic have rang. Out of 9. eggs 7 have fertilised. They will ring me again tomorrow with and update to see quality.

Eggling · 08/09/2020 09:54

@Sian7919 good luck!

@thefishthatcouldwish that's fantastic! Great numbers.

Just back from my second scan. Lining is at 7.8 so I start progesterone on Friday with transfer weds 16th. Had a little cry in the car - not sure why really! I can't believe we're finally nearly at that point.
