Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@ChicaXS I was a slow responder too. And never had my meds upped due to OHSS risk so I just stimmed for longer. 16 days both times. And they came good. Just took a little longer

HavingFaith · 07/09/2020 13:06

@ChicaXS the same thing happened to me - risk of OHSS because of PCOS so I was on a really low dose of stims but that meant I responded really slowly at first. I ended up stimming for 12days, but they upped my dose really slowly from about day 6ish, I think. My clinic really did a slow and steady approach which was a little frustrating but it worked. I’m sure it’ll all work out for you too!
Are they planning to keep you on the same dose until you trigger?

HavingFaith · 07/09/2020 13:13

@thefishthatcouldwish so glad your EC went well!! Rest up now xx

UnicornPuff · 07/09/2020 13:13

@HavingFaith it went fine. Didn't need a full bladder and it is safely in place! It just needs to stick and grow 🤞
Did you clinic say why you are one 2 different types of progesterone and not just a larger dose? I would call and ask about the timing.

@ChicaXS sorry I missed your post. 23 sounds good to me. I have found they dont seem to show too much enthusiasm about anything. I dont think they want to get us over excited/ hopes up!
When is your next scan? They seem to just jump when they are ready so I wouldn't worry too much as long as they are growing.

UnicornPuff · 07/09/2020 13:15

@thefishthatcouldwish thats brilliant news. Rest well and sending positive thoughts for good fertilisation.

JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 13:16

Had my final scan - the nurse said “these are the busiest ovaries I have seen in a while and lots of little ones” oh no I was thinking! But luckily I have a few larger ones so I’m ready to trigger! Just awaiting timings but egg collection planned for a Wednesday. My partner hates medical things/hospitals and doesn’t want to come in with me but I’ve been told he needs to be there during the procedure. He’s gutted lol x

ChicaXS · 07/09/2020 13:16

@AutumnHoping @HavingFaith thanks! Yes I have PCOS and am on day 7 of stims but I never saw a doctor, just a nurse as my doctor was sick. She didn’t up my dose and said she preferred the slow and steady approach which is fine. I have another scan on Wednesday which will be with my doctor and I may push for an increase dosage? I’m on GONAL f at 225. They never mentioned yet my trigger date at all, their just cruising on this cycle which is annoying. I don’t mind stimming for 16 days, just concerned with egg quality. Also is an AFC of 23 terrible? She didn’t seem optimistic at all which was odd?

ChicaXS · 07/09/2020 13:19

@UnicornPuff thanks hun. My scan is weds now and another one prebooked for Friday. The other issue was my right ovary was in an awkward north position but the nurse seems to think it will fall once it gets heavier.

zebra80 · 07/09/2020 13:23

@thefishthatcouldwish that's great news, congratulations! Hope you manage to get a sigh of relief and relax before the next round of nervousness kicks in :-)

@ChicaXS sounds like slow and steady might be better than risking overstimulating? Frustrating and stressful though :-(

My first scan today was fine, they didn't give me any numbers but said there were a few follicles over 10mm and I've just to keep up with the same dosage of menopur and back on Wednesday for another scan. I was really nervous this morning too even though I wasn't really expecting anything to happen! Another wee nap this afternoon I think :-)

zebra80 · 07/09/2020 13:31

@JandL2020 That's great, how exciting! Ha, it's the least your partner can do, hope you (both!) don't have too much anxiety in the next couple of days x

@ChicaXS no idea about the numbers but hope someone else helps and you get more clarity from the doctor on Wednesday. I have a left ovary which is wandered away off somewhere and also a retroverted uterus so the scans always take a bit longer while they figure out the lie of the land! She had trouble getting a clear visualisation of my left ovary today; trying not to get concerned about whether that will make EC difficult, one day at a time...

Sian7919 · 07/09/2020 13:32

@JandL2020 yes I stayed awake, gave them all correctly and on time, phew 😅 no double doses this time ;) and good news about the scan!

@UnicornPuff That’s super news. Hope the transfer went ok and you can rest now.

@thefishthatcouldwish hope everything went ok x

@zebra80
how did the scan go?

Good news about the trigger shot @Alexm06
I have my EC tomorrow 🙄 feeling a bit nervous.

@ChicaXS I’m sure they’ll get there, hang in there x

AutumnHoping · 07/09/2020 13:33

@ChicaXS yea I was frustrated too - I don’t have PCOS just a high AMH I think which is why they worried about overstimulating. They never mentioned trigger at all until it actually came to it - I think just to avoid any miscommunications. And they never said much at my scans - just ‘we will see what the bloods show and take it from there’ and then phoned to say continue stimming. I can’t recall my numbers - but lots of smaller ones too but quality was good also. Last one ended in 7 fertilised.
Don’t even know what AFC means - sorry x

Evey43 · 07/09/2020 14:44

Is anyone else in the 2ww, I’m 5 days in and I forgot how nervous I was last time!

JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 15:20

So my trigger shot is 9pm tonight and EC 9am on Wednesday. Does this sound right? I will call the clinic to check x

JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 15:22

Just realised it is correct. Nurse must think I’m annoying idiot 😂

79andnotout · 07/09/2020 15:24

There's so much action on this thread now! Glad everything is pretty much going well for everyone.

Congrats on the 9 eggs @thefishthatcouldwish! That's a great number.

@ChicaXS sounds like they have a good plan, I'm sure the follicles will kick into action soon.

Congrats on being PUPO @UnicornPuff ! Sounds like it went very smoothly (I'm jealous).

Great you are ready to trigger @JandL2020! That's surprising they want your partner in there, mine was expressly banned from all appointments except for his five minutes of fame jizzing into a cup. I was quite happy for him not to be present as he is also crap with anything medical and would probably faint at the slightest sign of trouble.

Sounds like things are progressing nicely @zebra80.

@Evey43 I'm in the TWW, I had a 2dt yesterday. Testing on 19th.

I've got exams next week and work is really busy so I don't think I will start to get stressed for a while yet. I tend to plan for the worst so I will start prepping for a negative and make sure I have some nice things lined up. And try to decide whether I can bother pursue this privately if it is a negative. I had such a poor response to the drugs I don't know if it would be worth it.

HavingFaith · 07/09/2020 15:30

Glad all the scans etc are going well.

@ChicaXS sorry I don’t know much about AFC either. Mine is similar to yours, just not sure what that actually means.

@Evey43 if all goes to plan my transfer is this Friday so I’ll soon be in the tww. This will be my first transfer so no idea what it’s like but I can imagine the nerves and anxiety are off the scale! Until I know otherwise I’m hoping a mantra of “today, I am pregnant” will help take the edge off my anxiety...I hope!

It looks like there will be a few transfers this weekend and next week! We’re getting there 🎉

@JandL2020 exciting times! Roll on 9pm

Evey43 · 07/09/2020 15:46

@79andnotout that did make me laugh. My husband isn’t allowed into any appointments either apart from his 5 mins of fame 😅.

Yes I’ve booked a couple of days off work which I didn’t last time after BFN and it was awful, especially as my job can be quite emotionally demanding at times. Good luck to you for the 19th, mines the 15th but my period came before OTD last time despite the pessaries. And good luck with your exams 😊.

@HavingFaith good luck for Friday! That’s a really nice way to think of it and has definitely made me feel better today.

Xx

79andnotout · 07/09/2020 15:55

@Evey43 - good luck for the 15th! I didn't even consider my period might come beforehand. Hmm, maybe I will temp this month so I can see if it falls and anticipate the disappointment.

Evey43 · 07/09/2020 16:09

@79andnotout it was about 4 days before OTD, initially the nurse said it could be nothing but it just got heavier each day. My understanding is usually the pessaries will delay the period anyway 🤷‍♀️, but I guess not always. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for us both (and everybody!) xx

Sian7919 · 07/09/2020 17:01

EC tomorrow. Has anyone else had cold feet / feeling anxious about the whole thing? I feel really worried x

JandL2020 · 07/09/2020 17:10

@Sian7919

EC tomorrow. Has anyone else had cold feet / feeling anxious about the whole thing? I feel really worried x
Normal to feel anxious it’s a big deal. Have a bath tonight and completely switch off. That’s my plan for the next 2 nights. Also sending OH out to get food etc and just walking now is uncomfortable 😣 I’m feeling calm at the moment but I’m sure tomorrow I’ll feel more anxious and certainly a sleepless night for sure xx
Sian7919 · 07/09/2020 20:26

Guys I’m really stressing. During this whole time the clinic didn’t really tell us much about the sperm collection and we haven’t had sex since before I started stims. I’ve just realised that for the best sperm quality your partner should abstain for 2-5 days. Have we blown it? Will he just be full of duds now? I darent say anything to him as don’t want to put him off. Why didn’t the clinic stress this to us more? :( he had a normal analysis btw

Alexm06 · 07/09/2020 20:35

@Sian7919 our clinic told us today! Meaning today was the day. It’s a bit ridiculous that they don’t tell you before hand rather then last minute so you can prepare for it as I doubt many people are having sex whilst stemming as well. I would think it would be better keeping it rather then not having enough (if that makes sense) even if they are old ones

Sian7919 · 07/09/2020 20:39

I wondered whether it might be best for him to ejaculate tonight but then as you say may not have anything for tomorrow! The nurse did not tell me this when she told me that I could take my trigger. Tbh the communication had been really shoddy, just given a leaflet to show me how to do the injections etc. I hope all is not lost. We haven’t had sexual since before stims!
