Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

Hi all, I haven’t been very active on here as I was just waiting for my period to start. But I’ve been following everyone’s journey and it looks like everyone is moving forward swiftly now! I’m on day 3 of my cycle so started Gonal F 200 ui yesterday and am due for a scan on Tuesday to see how my lining is doing. I’m doing FET but since I suffer from chronically thin lining, I get stims to thicken it up.

Speaking of which, @ivfjourney5 I really hope upping the dose will work for you but if it doesn’t, don’t despair. I’ve been on a long journey of thin lining and had to try multiple treatments (including taking Viagra vaginally!) before I found out what worked for me. The good news is that in the end I did find a solution and you will find one too. Taking Progynova orally or vaginally never did anything for my lining, even at very high doses, as my body only seems to react to natural estrogen. But with Gonal f, my lining went from its usual 5mm to 8.5mm on day 14 and i went on to have a beautiful daughter. You can also add in exercise for blood flow, raspberry leaf tea, Coq10 or vitamin e and Brazil nuts.

Wow! So much is going on here, happy to know things are moving forward for all of us! Hope everyone is doing great, sending you all positive thoughts. 😊

I'm still on norethisterone, so slowly getting there. Been having rubbish sleep, not sure if that was the cause of it, or it could just be the weather. Who knows.

Have a lovely weekend.x

JenniferRo28 · 05/09/2020 21:23

Evening all, had my baseline scan this morning and just done my first ever injection. The journey has officially begun 😊 I’m on meriofert, anyone else using this?

unknownscot · 05/09/2020 23:02

Sounds like everyone's getting going now :)

I had an absolute melt down today. Tears. I was meant to meet at my friends house for dinner but I was so torn about going. Was it right? Covid risk? Shattered too.
In the end I went along for an hour and a bit and I'm so thankful my friend encouraged me to come. It was needed.

I'm freaking out about everything right now. Any one else? X

Evey43 · 05/09/2020 23:29

@unknownscot absolutely! I’m glad you’re feeling better now. I got a cold/cough before FET and was freaking out! Had to postpone my scan by a few days while we waited for Covid test result. Luckily negative.

@JenniferRo28 that amazing! How exciting. Wishing you all the best

thefishthatcouldwish · 06/09/2020 07:53

@unknownscot yes everything is stressy! Glad you went to see your friend. Sometimes you just need a distraction.

thefishthatcouldwish · 06/09/2020 07:57

@JenniferRo28 well done on injection. I actually found the injections ok.

Did my trigger shot and was ok. Straight after had odd ache in my legs. Now got intermittent cramping.

JenniferRo28 · 06/09/2020 08:57

@unknownscot I am having exactly the same issue right now, I’m meant to be going to a Macmillan coffee morning to support a close friend who just lost a relative but I’m a tad nervous about how many people will be there, it seems half of Facebook are attending. Think I’m going to pop along right at the start for an hour before it gets too busy then sneak away.

@Evey43 thank you 😊

@thefishthatcouldwish thanks, the build up was a lot worse than the injection itself, I got myself in a state about nothing haha, adding another one in on Wednesday morning which supposedly nips a bit more so got that to look forward to. Well done on making it to your trigger, hope the cramps calm down for you soon x

HavingFaith · 06/09/2020 09:16

@79andnotout good luck to you today! Hope transfer day goes smoothly!xx

@unknownscot glad you’re feeling better after spending time with friends - it’s definitely needed ☺️

@Minster2012 @JenniferRo28 @Tarsette So exciting you’re all getting started! Hope all is going well so far xx

@thefishthatcouldwish enjoy your day of no injections! Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I’ve just done my first Lubion injection - it really bloody stings! I’m on cyclogest too so just added the first pessary. For anyone on cyclogest, did your clinics tell you whether to take it vaginally or rectally?! I’m seen across two clinics and each one gave me different advice 🙃

Sian7919 · 06/09/2020 09:23

Hi everyone, I’ve just had my 10 day scan and it showed 5 follicles the right size, two smaller. They want me to take my trigger injection tonight. I feel a bit disappointed. But hey, it’s where I am. Just had another Covid swab... fingers crossed all ok. Hope everyone else is doing ok x

79andnotout · 06/09/2020 09:23

@HavingFaith my clinic said either. I started rectally but then developed the worst constipation! So have moved onto vaginally. I can already feel the first twinges of irritation though, so reckon it will give me thrush.

Just received my call from the embryologist and my one embryo is looking good! Split into four equal sized cells and no fragmentation. Hallelujah! No I just need to juggle the correct ratio of water in my bladder to stop me wetting myself/vs poor transfer.

HavingFaith · 06/09/2020 09:29

@79andnotout amazing news about your embryo!! What time are you in for transfer?
I’ve been manically googling how much water a bladder can hold 🤣 my clinic said to drink 2litres on the journey to the clinic but that seems like so much!

@Sian7919 5 decent sized follicles is a good result and could well mean you end up with some to freeze. Hope all goes well with your trigger this evening xx

79andnotout · 06/09/2020 09:52

@HavingFaith the clinic told me to drink a pint. They said don't have too much as it will be a really uncomfortable experience otherwise. They said I can always top up if need be.

@Sian7919 5 isn't bad! When I expressed disappointment at 3 they said anything is good at this age, it only takes one, blah blah. Fingers crossed you have some good ones in there!

ivfjourney5 · 06/09/2020 09:56

Good luck @79andnotout!

@HavingFaith oh my 2 litres is loadsss, I'd read to drink 500ml 30 mins before hand and that should be fine

79andnotout · 06/09/2020 11:05

I've only had 300mls and I'm already dying for the loo. This is going to be a difficult hour!

Eggling · 06/09/2020 11:08

@79andnotout great news on your embryo!

@Sian7919 5 is great, try not to get too hung up on numbers - easier said than done I know!

I've just had a bit of a meltdown. Relative has just messaged to say she's pregnant with her second. I'd actually kind of guessed - I seem to have a pregnancy radar at the moment, which is not the superpower I would have chosen. It's her second time conceiving first try too. It's obviously lovely news and I'm happy for them but feeling a bit hard done by and wondering why I have to go through all of this to have a baby when other people just decide they might want one and that's that. I'm sick of having to congratulate people and also feeling bad when people feel they have to tiptoe around me. Bleurgh.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday and managing to relax a bit!

UnicornPuff · 06/09/2020 12:17

@unknownscot I am glad getting out was the right decision for you and that you are feeling a little better.

@HavingFaith mine said either absorbs exactly the same. I mix it up because also found it make me constipated so if I am at home vaginally (gets really messy!) And if I am out rectally as no mess!

@Sian7919 it sounds good. Try not to get fixated on numbers it really only takes one little sticky one!

@79andnotout thats amazing news. I bet you are thrilled. How did your transfer go. Did you manage to hold your bladder? My clinic have never said anything about needing a full bladder and I had a wee moments before my last transfer. What is it meant to do?

@Eggling really sorry you have had a baby bomb. Try not too feel guilty, it is really normal to feel how you are. My last baby bomb was awful and I got exceptionally drunk and cried for hours. And was horrible for days after! I hope you are feeling a little better. And that you can be the next baby bomb for someone else!!

79andnotout · 06/09/2020 13:21

@UnicornPuff my transfer was brutal! I thought it might be as my hsg was too. I have a closed cervix (maybe that's why I've not got pregnant?). They had to dilate it and force their way in. Also my ovaries were too swollen to see the embryo go in (as it's only 2 days post collection) but they were confident it had. Lining was looking good and they said everything looked healthy. I'm glad I got my DP to drive me in as my legs were still shaking a good while after. They were very confused as to why it was so sealed shut in there, ive never had any surgery or abnormal smears and my periods get out so it's strange. The full bladder is to help with the visualisation, I think. You can see it as a big black mass on the image - so I think it's to make it obvious that's the bladder, if it was empty it would look pretty similar to uterine tissue.

79andnotout · 06/09/2020 13:27

@Eggling yeah you can be happy for them and hate them at the same time. My little brother had his first child last week (an accident with his ex!) and my little sister is due imminently with her much tried for first. I was wondering if I'd feel jealous but I'm glad to say I just feel happy for them both, hopefully I'll feel the same way if this turns out to be a BFN. Give yourself some time and space to deal with it.

HavingFaith · 06/09/2020 13:34

@Eggling sorry you’ve had to deal with a baby bomb. They can be awful so don’t feel bad for feeling bad! With everything we’re going through I think it’s completely normal to feel happy for others but at the same time feel so, so sad for ourselves.

@UnicornPuff I think my clinic said a full bladder changes the angle of the uterus and makes it easier to see/access? But I’m not certain.

@79andnotout oh gosh that sounds like it was a horrible process but you did it and gave your embryo on board! Well done you! Sending you all the good vibes for it to be a sticky one!

Thanks everyone - I thought 2litres sounded insane! When I did iui I drank way too much and it was horribly uncomfortable.

Sian7919 · 06/09/2020 15:56

Thanks everyone, trying to remain positive. Good news on the embryo and your transfer todaY @79andnotout, Hope you can just put a film on now and just relax with your feet up. I had a lovely walk with a friend this afternoon which helped take my mind off things. I’m taking the trigger shot at 11.30pm tonight and need to be at the clinic for 7.30am Tues morning. They said I would possibly be done for lunchtime on Tues, does that sound about right? I will be glad when I don’t have to do anymore injections. They said they might have to do spinal instead of sedation Because of Covid risk, which I do not prefer, what are other clinics doing? X

AutumnHoping · 06/09/2020 16:11

Good news @79andnotout - shame about the uncomfortable transfer but fingers crossed for you now in the 2ww

Tarsette · 06/09/2020 16:47

@79andnotout Congrats on the transfer! I have everything crossed for you! Try and have lots of nice activities scheduled during the 2WW to take your mind off it!

@Eggling Sorry you’re having to deal with this. I agree it’s totally fine to feel both happy and resentful. It IS incredibly unfair that we’re having to go through this awful process when so many women seem to get pregnant so easily.

@Sian7919 you definitely want to focus on quality rather than numbers. When I had my EC I was completely overstimulated because they somehow overlooked the fact that I have poly cystic ovaries so ended up with 52 eggs which sounds great, except many were of very poor quality. I did end up with some embryos but could have had a better result with less stims and less eggs so I reckon 5 of a good size sounds great!

ivfjourney5 · 06/09/2020 17:02

@Sian7919 I've always heard it should be 36 hours apart from trigger to collection, so 11.30pm trigger and 11.30am trigger, but we all know all clinics do different things! Maybe wait for a couple of others on here to answer and then give your clinic a quick call to double check?

ivfjourney5 · 06/09/2020 17:14

*11.30pm trigger and 11.30am collection
