Sept IVF/FET

Lemongrass1 · 28/07/2020 14:10

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Lemongrass1 ! Yayyy! Best of luck with the lining!
@ivfjourney5 best of luck for tmr!
@UnicornPuff! Excellent news for the 6 fertilised!

JandL2020 · 03/09/2020 14:03
**@pattaz2711* have you asked how long they would expect you to still have hCG in your urine? I cant see any reason anyone would not want your to stay in the thread. Its all about supporting each other through an s*t process!

@AllySC welcome. I am sorry you have to start a fresh cycle. At least you have a plan to improve your outcome.

@ivfjourney5 I wouldn't worry too much. Before you start stims you have a scan that confirms the buserelin has done its job.

@Rumtopf at least it wasn't a completely wasted journey! Hope the brain fog is clearing!

@JandL2020 when will they decide if it will be a freeze all? And how do you feel about it?

@Sian7919 the haramaki looks amazing. How did youbhear about them? I always feel the cold and it just suddenly seems to have gotten really cold!
I stimmed for 9 days both cycles. I think it can be variable from cycle to cycle though.

@Lemongrass1 thats brilliant news. Plus no swab! I get one weekly at work and it is not pleasant. Working from home has been quite nice to not have to be swabbed all the time!

@zebra80 thats good you can keep your diary light. I have been working from home through stims so not full hours as I can only do a small percentage of my role and have really benefitted from naps and lie ins. Back in tomorrow and I am really not looking forward to the alarm at 5.30 tomorrow 🤣

@AutumnHoping yay! When do you think your scan will be?

@misty20 welcome. I think I have read somewhere that the success rates after a IVF pregnancy are really good. I have everything crossed for you.

@79andnotout thats amazing. A pay rise is a very good way to start the day! How are you feeling being injection free today! I felt really odd and like I was missing something the day before collection! Good luck for tomorrow. What time do you think you are scheduled for?

@Eggling sorry you are stressing about your scan tomorrow. I have been taking all the supplements from it starts with an egg and one of the supplements is melatonin before bed. I can honestly say even if it didn't improve my egg quality I have been able to sleep rather than lie awake worrying! I hope the scan shows everything as it should be and you can have a couple of days off worrying.

Sorry if I have missed anybody. We seem to be in the stage where everyone is doing something!

We are lucky and get an update everyday except day 4 when they can't really see much. The 7th egg with a potential to mature didn't mature. All 6 of the mature eggs have fertilised. They were able to use spermslow although due to the concentration of sperm it was not an easy procedure. I dont really mind how hard it was just that it happened 🤣 Then tomorrow they should be able to tell us a little bit more about quality and a decision on a day 3 or day 5 transfer.
That sounds very promising. How many will you transfer? I had a call from nurse this morning and blood test came back normal. I think it was for estrogen? I’m hoping it means I’m not over stimulating. Feeling hopeful for a fresh transfer but a lot will be down to luck I think! I hate the waiting xx

AutumnHoping · 03/09/2020 14:13

That all sounds great @UnicornPuff long may the good news continue!!

I’m not sure; they initially had said it would be on Day 10 or 12. I have asked for Day 12 if possible as I’m actually going away for 5 nights next week (not abroad but far enough away I couldn’t come home for appointment). Obv I can cancel or cut short my holiday but would be good if they could do a 12 day scan. Hopefully they contact me soon

UnicornPuff · 03/09/2020 14:14

@JandL2020 thats good news if your estrogen is normal. Have they said when they will make the final decision? I think its completely normal to want to get on with a fresh transfer. If anything because we have all had to wait so long to even get to this point!
At our appointment before this cycle the consultant said that they will put 2 back on transfer because of the poor quality. Unless something dramatically changes in the quality in which case they only replace 1. So I am hoping for a dramatic increase in quality and a single transfer!

Sian7919 · 03/09/2020 14:14

Hi everyone, I have had a major boo boo today. I woke up around 4.30am and decided to get up and get something to eat as couldn't go back to sleep. Then I woke up late as my alarm had been set to 8pm instead of am and the Virgin installer was outside waiting to be let in, my builder had been and left, late for work and so I quickly got dressed and let the installer in and then got my meds out. I went upstairs and because I was half asleep and panicked I accidentally gave myself a double dose of Menopur. So I've had 900IU today. I rang the clinic and they said not to worry, just take normal dose tomorrow, but I just can't believe it. I feel like my head is completely up my arse. Can't believe I can't even get simple things like the injs right. Feeling a bit :( Has anyone else ever done anything similar? They said slight risk of over stimulation, but not really that much at risk as I'm only day 7.. the nurse said I would still be recruiting follicles.. :(

79andnotout · 03/09/2020 14:38

Hi @Sian7919 - my guess would be as far as mistakes go, that's not a bad one. At least you didn't miss a day. And as far as I understand it, as you're already on max dose menopur, doubling up probably doesn't make much difference. There are only so many receptors in your ovaries, and they will be fully occupied anyway. I've not fact checked any of this, but I am a biochemist so it's an educated guess.

I may find out more tomorrow after my final scan but apparently the consultant can make a decision as late as egg collection 😔 I think I’ve signed something that says to only transfer one so I’m not sure they would transfer 2 anyway xx

Oh no sounds like something I would do! Don’t beat yourself up the whole process is exhausting xx
HavingFaith · 03/09/2020 15:52

@UnicornPuff 6 fertilised is amazing!!

@Sian7919 oh gosh that sounds like you’ve had a crazy day! As difficult as it will be, try not to worry about the menopur dose, as the clinic said, it shouldn’t negatively impact this cycle. Sending you hugs as I’m sure you’ll still be worried xx

Looks like lots of us have scans tomorrow - me, @ivfjourney5 @Eggling @JandL2020 and @Rumtopf I thinks that’s everyone scanning tomorrow!

Also @JandL2020 that’s great news about your oestrogen levels!!

HavingFaith · 03/09/2020 15:53

@Lemongrass1 glad your scan went well! So exciting to have your potential dates all lined up!

HavingFaith · 03/09/2020 15:57

I’m a little nervous about the Covid swab me and DH have to do tomorrow morning. I just read the instructions and it basically says if you aren’t gagging then you aren’t doing it properly 🙃 and it says the swab can’t touch your cheeks or tongue, just the very back of your throat! Has anyone had to the the swab themselves?

Also, I’ve got a dull ache and kind of heaviness today in the bottom of my stomach, it doesn’t feel like period cramps but it’s a little worrying - I’m just hoping the progynova is working and this isn’t a bad sign

UnicornPuff · 03/09/2020 18:54

@HavingFaith try not to worry. I do a self swab once a week at work. Its not particularly pleasant but it really isn't too bad either. You just run it about 5 times over the back of your throat. It will make your eyes water and gag slightly but then its over. I actually find it more unpleasant doing my nostrils. It makes me feel really sneezy for ages after!
With all the drugs I think anything cam be normal. Plus we are so focused on anything lower abdo that it might be something that you normally wouldn't even notice where as now it feels like they only thing you can feel!

Eggling · 03/09/2020 19:34

@JandL2020 I was in the exact same position as you back in June, I did end up being freeze all, they told me after bloods at my last scan which was the Friday and the consultant confirmed it again after egg collection on the Monday. I'll be honest, I was really upset at the time but I guess we just have to trust the process and the experts to know what's best! The uncertainty is hard though so I hope you get some answers soon.

Thank you that must have been hard. Hopefully I’ll have more of an idea tomorrow what they are thinking. I know it’s out of my hands. I’ll just have to take the positives out of it although it will be really disappointing 😔 Are you having a FET soon? X

Sian7919 · 03/09/2020 20:09

Thanks for the messages. I feel like a complete fool, but hopefully it won’t have done anything bad to the cycle. Fingers crossed anyway. Glad everyone’s scans have gone well... I’ve had a really off day today. Brain up my arse and emotions off the radar! Anyways going to get a bath and an early night.... for those that asked about the haramaki, I saw it on someone’s blog and thought I’d give it a go. It’s nice and I’ll probably use it in winter as I run a bit cold anyway. It’s nice and comfy.

Lemongrass1 · 03/09/2020 20:14

@JandL2020 I had a fresh transfer after borderline over stimulating. Half way thru the cycle they managed to drop the rising osetrogen levels down by coasting me a few days and I squeezed under the threshold. I don’t think they were expecting me to respond as I did as was 38 with a good but not super high AMH and on lowish dose of stims. In hindsight it probably should have been a freeze all but I don’t think I quite met their criteria for that. They collected 22 eggs and my ovaries were so huge that they pressed on my bladder and holding a full bladder for ET was awful. They really struggled with the ET and I was in so much pain that I thought about jumping off the table and telling them to stop. That cycle ended as an ectopic which was probably just bad luck but treatment was complicated as my ovaries were in such a state they struggled to locate where it was on scan. Have had two ETs since then with FET and they have been nothing like that first awful experience. It is hugely disappointing to be told to wait but it really is best not to push on if your body isn’t in the right place. Sounds like your oestrogen levels are ok though so hopefully you won’t have the same experience I did! X

@misty20 welcome to the group

@AllySC great news on AF starting!

@79andnotout that’s great news on the pay rise! Sounds like you are a very valued member of the team 😁 If I was a bit off at work I don’t think that the reaction I would get 🤣

@Eggling good luck with your scan tomorrow, hopefully they will give you a date for ET soon? X

@Unicornpuff great news on 100% fertilization!! Out of interest what is spermslow and what does it do?

@Rumtopf hope scan goes well

@poupou @Havingfaith thanks! I’m onto the Pom juice now 😂

@Sian7919 hope you feel better soon. I’m sure the clinic would have said if they were worried that it would affect the cycle x

JandL2020 · 03/09/2020 20:33

@Lemongrass1 the symptoms you describe at ET are similar to what I had at the endo scratch. I’m definitely more worried about the transfer than the egg collection x

UnicornPuff · 03/09/2020 20:36

@Lemongrass1 spermslow is essentially the same as PICSI so they use hyaluronic acid to select the 'best sperm'. It is a red add on the HEFA website but only as it doesn't increase live births it will not negatively impact the outcome. Apparently the sperm with the least DNA fragmentation bind to the hyaluronic acid so they select the immobile sperm to inject into the egg. I am just clinging to a different outcome before we book an appointment to see Dr Ramsey!

Koalabear23 · 03/09/2020 20:42

Hi, sorry haven’t posted in a while but reading and trying to keep up. Hope everyone is doing OK this evening.
@Sian7919 that sounds like an easy mistake I’m sure lots of people make. Hope the scan goes Ok.

I just wondered if others out there doing FET we’re getting much side effects from Progynova? I’m on 5x2mg a day and starting to feel pretty tired and nauseous. Not sure if that’s normal or not. I don’t have a scan until day 12 (6 more days) so no idea what’s going on in there. Wondered if others were the same.

UnicornPuff · 03/09/2020 20:42

@Sian7919 I have just ordered a haramaki as I run really cold! How long did yours take to arrive? I went with first class. I couldn't face £10 extra for next day delivery!

unknownscot · 03/09/2020 20:46

Sorry I've been so quiet - I don't start meds until Tuesday so feel like I'm way behind all of you.

It's great the most people seem to be doing well so far. Wishing everyone luck over the next few days.
X

ivfjourney5 · 03/09/2020 21:17

@Koalabear23 I'm only only 3x2mg of progynova, and it's my first lining scan tomorrow at day 15, I wish I had a scan sooner as I'm really worried about my lining, I'm sure the transfer is going to be delayed for at least a few days. Is 5x2mg your clinics standard dose?

Sian7919 · 03/09/2020 21:28

@UnicornPuff it was quick, just a couple of days x

Thanks for the messages everyone. Glad everyone is doing ok x

Lemongrass1 · 03/09/2020 22:15

@Koalabear23 @ivfjourney5 it’s odd how all the clinics use different doses! I’m on 4x2mg a day and increase to 6x2mg a day after 7 days.

@Koalabear23 I’ve only been on it one day so far but last time I had lots of cramping and was totally zonked! It was better when they had the patches but I think they’re still hard to come by.
