Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Sian7919 yes, that’s great news!! So happy for you!

thefishthatcouldwish · 28/08/2020 18:08

I know I sound insane but my MIL said that she is going to be a great grandma.

Normally this would knock me sideways but I feel like it’s ok I have no idea why.

Sorry for ramble

ivfjourney5 · 28/08/2020 18:20

@Sian7919 yessss I'm so happy for you! I'd definitely recommend acupuncture, I do notice that it has an effect on my body, but if nothing else it relaxes me and makes me feel as if I'm doing something to help. If you do try it make sure you find one that knows about fertility acupuncture, there's a list on the Zita West website of fertility ones around the UK

@thefishthatcouldwish I'm glad you're feeling okay with her saying that... you're stronger than me, I'd struggle with it. My in laws don't know that I'm having treatment. My MIL has 4 step grand children but acts like they don't exist 😔 but my FIL is good with them as they are his blood.

thefishthatcouldwish · 28/08/2020 20:25

@ivfjourney5

Usually I would be in pieces but for some reason I feel very very calm about it. I never feel like this.

How can you ignore your step grandchildren?

ivfjourney5 · 28/08/2020 20:35

@thefishthatcouldwish unbelievable isn't it! But I won't bring any of that negatively into this thread... I could go on all day 😂

Does anybody have any nice plans for the bank holiday weekend?

KassT · 28/08/2020 22:32

@Sian7919 this is fantastic news, so happy for you!! 🥳

@Lemongrass1 I feel fine so far, only just first day on it, I hope it stay this way! I'm mostly excited to be able to start after a long long wait. I hope you feel less tired and get to enjoy the long weekend.

@HavingFaith I'm happy with their efficiency on getting things done when the ball starts rolling but also feel that I have to ask a lot of questions to get where I am, they seems to think I should already know about everything, but maybe I just haven't done enough research.

Just wondering if alcohol is a big no no from down reg onwards? I'm seeing friends this weekend and I probably need to come up with an excuse for not drinking, I've only told a few of my close friends about the IVF.

Sian7919 · 29/08/2020 08:56

Hi everyone just wanted to post a message to say that I hope you’re all having a relaxing weekend. I’m just going to take it easy and do a little bit of walking with my partner probably. I started taking the Menapur injections. They’re a bit stingy so I put it in slowly.. I was pleased to be able to start but I had no idea it would be this quick after such a long wait! I know that sounds backwards. Now I’m fretting I didn’t do enough to prep for my body. I’ve been taking vitamins and cut down on caffeine. Trying not to drink any now. Also started using the Mindful IVF app for meditation, as I get really anxious. I might try the no deodorant/ products but worried I might end up smelling haha might give it a go though :)

Sian7919 · 29/08/2020 09:04

@ivfjourney5 thanks for the tip. Will look into that. @KassT you could just say you’re doing something like dry Jan or a new diet 🤔

Alexm06 · 29/08/2020 09:35

@KassT I have been told not to drink (which is annoying as it’s my birthday on the Tuesday) so yeah I would avoid it. Antibiotics? I know some people use that excuse.

@Sian7919 I’m on Menapur aswell I’ve only had 2 injections so far and I haven’t had any side effects as of yet but yeah I found them a bit stingy too!

@ivfjourney5 I wish I had plans unfortunately with my centre I have to self isolate through the whole process so I’m going to be stuck inside the bank holiday (and my birthday which sucks) How about you?

Lemongrass1 · 29/08/2020 09:36

@Sian7919 don’t worry about the prepping. I’m not convinced it does much apart from the real basic things like taking folic acid/ stop smoking etc. Glad to hear you managed to start 😁

@KassT I’ve usually had the odd drink during Downreg and stop for stims/ after ET when doing a FET. Everyone is different with what they are comfortable with. I don’t want to stop a bit of light drinking too early as if it’s successful then that’s no booze for 9 months 🤣

KassT · 29/08/2020 15:25

@Sian7919 @Alexm06 thank you for the tips, I hope my friends won't dig further to my "reason" of not drinking, I'm a bad liar. lol

@Lemongrass1 yes I agree with you. I cut down a lot since ttc, been having a glass or 2 during weekend, for me it's easier to quit alcohol then caffeine!!! I'm still having my morning coffee but in half strength.

Hope all of you are having a great weekend. X

HavingFaith · 30/08/2020 09:59

Morning everyone - how are you all today?

@poupou how did your first buseralin injection go yesterday?

@Minster2012 if I remember rightly, today or tomorrow should be your last day of norethisterone! How are you feeling?

Today is day three of being on progynova and I’ve been feeling really crampy since yesterday but not sure if it’s to do with the progynova or not 😕

AutumnHoping · 30/08/2020 11:31

@HavingFaith that’s rubbish. Sorry I can’t keep up with all; have you been on progynova before? I’m expecting AF in a week or so and will start it then but was looking at the side effects last night and seen lots felt crampy and crappy on it. And weight gain. Something to look forward to then! 🙈 I hope you feel better and it doesn’t last the whole time

poupou · 30/08/2020 11:37

@HavingFaith first injection was interesting i must say! I did it in the car as we were returning to london from the countryside! I was worried i injected less than the 0.5 ml but i assume its ok. After the injection and the noretheristone i am like a truck hit me. Feeling very tired. And had a very unsettled sleep last night. But its still day one.
I am sorry that you are not feeling very well. It seems that we are exhausting ourselves with all these medications and injections but fingers crossed it will all be worth it! Take a rest day and relax if you can!

zebra80 · 30/08/2020 11:40

Hi folks, can I join too please?

Had prostap injection 10 days ago, period arrived yesterday and starting menopur tomorrow - wee bit nervous about the self injecting but I'm sure I'll get into the swing of it. This is my first (and probably only) IVF cycle, had a couple of failed IUI attempts and then delays last year with getting autoimmune hypothyroidism under control then covid mean that at 40 my chances aren't great... I'm single and using donor sperm so that increases the cost even more. So although I'm relieved and a bit excited to be finally starting, I'm trying not to get too excited!

@unknownscot I'm in Glasgow, hiya!

Still getting the hang of all the acronyms etc but hope everyone is feeling ok today - I'm off out for a walk to try to shift this downreg headache :-)

HavingFaith · 30/08/2020 12:22

@AutumnHoping this is the first time I’ve ever been on progynova. It’s a relief to know the cramps are a normal side effect! I was worrying it meant my lining wasn’t thickening. Hope the progynova is kind to you once you start!

@poupou that’s definitely a first injection to remember! I always worry I’m not injecting enough but it always works out ok and whenever I’ve called my clinic to say I think I’ve injected less or there was some left in the syringe they always tell me not to worry and that it’s never as much liquid left as I think! Hope you’re able to have a chilled one today and rest up xx

@zebra80 welcome 😊 hope your first injection goes well tomorrow - I’m sure you’ll be fine and get the hang of it very quickly. Fingers crossed all goes well for you.

The wife had her 1st Gonal F injection yesterday. She was nervous about doing it herself so I did it for her. Well it's easy when you aren't injecting yourself.

Anyone have any side effects with it ? She's had a slight pain in her abdomen and a headache but I'm guessing that's quite common. Anybody had any harsher side effects and If so what did you do to help with those ?

Hello! Well done on doing the injection my other half won’t even look 🤣 I’m on my 5th day of Gonal F. No real side effects so far until today...tiredness and slight pains. I also had sleepless slights but last night I slept well but really want to sleep today! No headaches which I suffered with on Clomid (horrible drug) so far Gonal F has been kind to me! I have migraine strips in fridge just in case I start to get them. I think it’s important to keep eating and drinking lots of water, and exercise in moderation will help with symptoms. As I finish this I can really feel right lower abdo pain ouchies...time to get up and walk about 😂 xx

Day 10 of progynova today and I'm feeling good! Scan's booked in for Friday to check my lining to see if I can stop buserelin and start Lubion! The husband also rang me today so I'm in an amazing mood, it's been over a month since he could last ring, he works away and contact is minimal! The suns also been shining and I've been out in the garden a bit

@KassT how did it go with the friends party? Did you decide to have a small drink or make some excuses? Hope it went well either way and you've had a good time

@Sian7919 I'm a big fan of the mindful ivf app, I'm also coming to the end of the BFN podcast which I've found really informative

@Alexm06 oh that's a shame! Happy birthday for whenever it is 😊🥳

@zebra80 welcome! Wow how inspiring! I hope you've got some family and friends to support you on the journey? My husband works away and I can't speak to him properly so I've found it a bit harder without his support, but my parents have been great! I've not long got the hang of injecting myself, I had to go to mums everyday at the same time for her to do it! I hope you pick it up quickly 😊 Did the walk help the headache?

HavingFaith · 30/08/2020 17:27

@J1984 that’s great you were able to do the injection for her! I haven’t been on gonal f before, but I had the same side effects with my stims medication. The headaches were the worst part for me, I just tried to drink as much as I could.

@ivfjourney5 that’s so lovely you got to speak to your husband! I can’t imagine how much more difficult this must be being away from him.
I’ve got a scan on Friday too for the exact same progress check! Only difference is that’ll be day 7 on progynova for me so I don’t know how much progress my lining will have made by that point

pattaz2711 · 30/08/2020 21:18

How is everyone, I haven't been on.. as nothing to report, I'm still waiting for my period to start.. after having the ERPC (d&c) had to go back in Friday as it's been 3 weeks an was still positive. So prob won't start my period until I get a negative.
I'm so ready to start. But nervous aswell..

I just want to say, that you ladies are so strong... people don't realise the stress of ivf.. sending you all lost of love xx

zebra80 · 30/08/2020 22:16

@ivfjourney5 thanks - I'm lucky to have lots of support and a couple of friends who have been through IVF. It's funny, talking to them and knowing the strain it put on their relationships we've wondered at times whether I have it easier being on my own! That must be so hard to not even talk to each other for weeks at a time.

The headache is hanging around, I think I maybe didn't drink enough water yesterday so going to head to bed with a big cup of (decaf!) tea. But overall I've not felt too bad at all in the last week.

@pattaz2711 sending lots of love back to you... that must be such a rollercoaster getting yourself ready to start all over again x

pattaz2711 · 30/08/2020 22:19

@zebra80 it is mines failed twice now, an obvs getting to 8 weeks an then going through it all.
As much as I know I want to do it again it's so hard xx
I only tell the groups what going on.. I have spoken before an feel like a failer when I have to say it didn't happen..
X

zebra80 · 30/08/2020 22:52

@pattaz2711 big hugs, that sounds so tough. With my IUI I had a positive test briefly and even that was gutting without all the added strain of the IVF procedures. It's so much pressure isn't it.

I hope you do know that you're not a failure at all, if it was just down to your effort and motivation there wouldn't be any problem having a baby... I think unless people have been through pregnancy struggles they have really unrealistic expectations. One of my friends (who is lovely and very supportive) was really shocked when I said my chances were 20% or so, she'd assumed it was about 75% successful!!

All we can do is try; I really hope this time is the right outcome for you x

pattaz2711 · 30/08/2020 22:56

@zebra80 I know a lot of people think ivf no problem.. but they don't know the half of it... even when I was talking to the nurse who helped me with my ERPC didn't know how much goes into ivf..

Finger crossed for this one.. we have 3 frozen one day 5 hatching and 2 day 6 hatching
