Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Eggling For a FET, you will be given a trigger shot once your clinic thinks your lining is looking good, you will then ovulate 36 hours later and transfer of a day 5 embryo will be 5 days after that. I usually cut out caffeine completely and try to limit alcohol to one glass of wine a week up until transfer and then no alcohol after transfer. I also try and exercise every other day (elliptical, light weights etc.) until transfer day as that increases blood flow to the uterus and helps my lining.

ivfjourney5 · 26/08/2020 17:47

@JandL2020 a health person (how technical 😂) was on the news this morning saying 1 or 2 coffees a day is fine, if it's more than that then gradually change to decaf over the course of a week so you're having max 2 with caffeine. As @AutumnHoping said the stress of completely cutting out caffeine will probably do more harm than continuing it, unless you have excessive amounts

@Eggling I started oestrogen tablets (progynova) on day 2 of AF, day 1 being bleed before 12pm. I need to take 21 days worth before FET (depending on lining, if it's thin I'll take tablets for a bit longer)

@ChicaXS I'll join you in the spotty teenager club, I've literally never been this spotty in my life. I've had norethistertone a few times over the last year and not been this bad, I think it's the mixture of other things as well. I've been tempted to treat myself to a face mask but worried it might irritate it!

Eggling · 26/08/2020 17:53

@ivfjourney5 @Tarsette thank you - still a fair way to go then for me! Just glad to have things moving again, oestrogen tablets start tomorrow.

@ChicaXS I think I've heard of people having FET on a natural cycle, I don't ovulate spontaneously though so that would be a no go for me!

JandL2020 · 26/08/2020 18:13

Just done my first Gonal F injection...didn’t feel a thing 😮😊 woop 🙌

Sian7919 · 26/08/2020 18:41

Hi all, hoping to join in. My partner and I are due to sign consents tomorrow and go through the teach session with the nurse. I came on my period yesterday. Do you think I will be able to start this cycle or have to wait for my next period?

ChicaXS · 26/08/2020 19:15

Thanks ladies for all of the advice @Eggling
I have PCOS with usually a extremely late cycle so maybe I’ll be on medicated like yourself?
@JandL2020 haha the needles are so tiny I’m excited to do mine next week! The cetrotide on the other hand looks like a mahoosive needle lol!
@ivfjourney5 haha you have succumbed me to doing a face mask today. Will do a gold one 😍 it’s crazy as at the age of 37 I never get spots and I have just broken out so much on my chin since taking the tablets lol!

@Tarsette thank you so much for that. I’ll take it in the evening of day 2!

Regarding coffee - I still have one a day and a decaf in the afternoon- I heard aswell it’s not damaging and under 200mg it’s fine. When pregnant I’ll switch to decaf completely as a safe bet! With alcohol is it safe to take after egg collection whilst you wait for your FET? Then quit coming up to the FET?

ChicaXS · 26/08/2020 19:17

@Sian7919 really doubt that will be the case but depending on your conditions they may put you on meds to induce a period a little earlier (after ovulation) so you can start ASAP. Call you clinic ASAP and tell them you came on x welcome to the thread!!

I had a months break before my next period and was put on the pill for 21 days. If you’ve already started your period then you may have to wait unless they’re doing a natural cycle. They should have told you that during the zoom meeting x

Sian7919 · 26/08/2020 20:20

@JandL2020 and @ChicaXS I was told I would do the short protocol but nothing much more. Then they sent us a video link which described the long and short protocol but that was about it, no specifics?

I’m on short too. I would ring them and ask when you get started given that you have started bleeding. They are keen to put on the pill first to regulate things x

@Lemongrass1 yay!!! 🎉

So much to catch up on! Going to go back and read up on what I’ve missed today but welcome to everyone whose joined! Let’s hope this is a lucky thread!xxx

UnicornPuff · 27/08/2020 11:55

@lemongrass1 yay! No need to delay!

On long protocol last time other than 'buserelin blues' I physically felt fine. This time short increased menopur from 300 to 375 and fyremadel in am. I have been really headachy and woken up this morning with left sided abdo pain. I know every cycle is different but it is just making me feel ergh today! Its making me grumpy almost like the blues are back!

Hope everyone is feeling a bit more cheerful than me!

thefishthatcouldwish · 27/08/2020 12:27

@Lemongrass1 yay.

79andnotout · 27/08/2020 15:18

Nice one @Lemongrass1!

@UnicornPuff - it's my first cycle so nothing to compare it with, but I've been having on/off headaches and sinus issues from the 450 mg menopur I'm on. My abdomen is very tender but I think that's from the heparin shots. I'm thinking of doing the heparin shots into my legs, as with three injections a day I'm running out of belly space. I don't know how close together you're supposed to do them all?

Sian7919 · 27/08/2020 16:58

Hi guys, @Lemongrass1Goodluck with starting your meds!

I went for my consent signing today and they also did some extra bloods, urine and Covid swab. They said that if the swab comes back negative by tomorrow then I can start this cycle, as in tomorrow, but we'll see. They also wanted me to have another TV US tomorrow. Picked up my meds, who knew how bif they would be! I have no space in the fridge for much else, so I hope I can start tomorrow lol! @UnicornPuff I will be taking 450 units of Menopur too. I aksed the doctor again about my chances and she said less than 10%, I'm 41 in a week. But she said my antral follicle count was good, 14 as a baseline test, so fingers crossed. I will try and meditate every day as I feel really, really anxious. I know that's not a good thing. Hope everyone is well on this wet and damp day x

79andnotout · 27/08/2020 17:21

@Sian7919 if you start tomorrow you will just be a few days behind me. I'm 41 in october, also on 450 mg menopur, and also with an AFC of 14. The doc told me a 20% chance of it working though, although I thought that sounded a bit high! Maybe my doctor is just an optimist :) What other drugs are you on? I've just started taking cetrotide to halt ovulation, and will be triggering with gonasi.

Pissing it down here too. I was hoping this month would involve lots of dog walking as my form of exercise, but I have two greyhounds who hate getting their feet wet and would much rather lie on the sofa looking out at the rain.

ChicaXS · 27/08/2020 17:30

@Lemongrass1 congrats hun!

@Sian7919 so glad you made it for this cycle what an awesome clinic to get you in so fast! Don’t let the percentages faze you- a miracle embryo is all you need to get pregnant!

So by chance I had a medical today and blood bowed up in my urine which I’m annoyed about as I’m not sure if that’s nothesterone or a UTI or kidney issues? It’s getting tested for infection so I will know by Tuesday but I’m worried whether this will affect my cycle as I’m about to start gonal-F on Tuesday as AF is due Sunday or Monday. I was going to call the nurses but scared they may cancel my cycle!!!

Lemongrass1 · 27/08/2020 19:17

@tarsette @Sian7919 welcome to the group!

@Minster2012 hope AF comes soon after stopping norethisterone. I know what a drag waiting for it is!!

@79andnotout when’s your next scan? Hope addition of cerotide has gone ok

@JandL2020 I haven’t really cut out caffeine 😳 Well done on first Gonal L

@eggling great that AF started 😁 What kind of FET are you doing?

@ChicaXS it depends what kind of FET you do. There’s full on long medicated with downreg (with buserelin daily or one shot of prostap) to turn everything off, then you have a bleed followed by starting oestrogen to build up lining for around 10 days or so, then add progesterone for 5-6 and then transfer. Or a short medicated FET where start osterogen day 2 and then similar to rest of the protocol for the long. Also a natural modified where they work with natural cycle and give a trigger so they can time ovulation followed by ET 3/5 days later depending on when embryos frozen. Also a complete natural where you do LH & scan monitoring where they catch timing of natural ovulation and time ET accordingly. I think there’s variations on the above too and some other types but that’s all I can think of!

@ivfjourney5 when I did stims it was like going through puberty again! Still have awful scars from acne on my back

@UnicornPuff hope you feel better soon

@Poupou @HavingFaith
@thefishthatcouldwish how r h doing today

Sorry if I’m missing anyone!

I feel SO RELIEVED today, AF came heavy last night so hopeful for a good lining scan on Thurs. 🤞 for t/f 18-21 Sep. Can’t believe we are nearly in Sept already! X

OP posts:
HavingFaith · 27/08/2020 19:25

@Lemongrass1 fingers crossed for your scan! Having the possible dates for transfer makes it all seem so real!

@Sian7919 that’s great you should be able to start this cycle!

@ChicaXS really hope your results on Tuesday are nothing to worth about and nothing that will interfere with your treatment x

I’m feeling good today, cramps and hot flushes have finally subsided. I have my baseline scan tomorrow morning so just praying all goes well and I can start the progynova

KassT · 27/08/2020 20:13

Hi ladies, hope you are all doing super well. WinkGot my appointment today with the nurse and was told i can start down reg right away! Whoop whoop!!! Everything become so real all of sudden and I start to doubt if I've been treating my body well enough the last 3 months.... very very nervous but excited at the same time. Not sure what to expect!

unknownscot · 27/08/2020 20:40

Hope everyone's doing well.

I'm just wondering - I've to take norethisterone for 7 days and then start menopur injects a week later.

A lot of you seem to have to wait for a bleed after norethisterone. Should I double check with the clinic? They just told me to start injections a week later.
