Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@Lemongrass1 🤞 AF arrives very soon.

@Tarsette welcome.

HavingFaith · 25/08/2020 20:54

@poupou @UnicornPuff @thefishthatcouldwish @ivfjourney5 thanks guys! I’ve decided I’m going to call the embryologist the day before my transfer to make sure they remember to get an embryo out the freezer 🤣🤣

@Lemongrass1 really hope today’s cramps mean AF will arrive tomorrow for you! It’s so frustrating when it’s late but promising you have all the signs it’s on it’s way and hopefully you won’t have to move your appt next week x

@Tarsette sorry you’ve had such a hard time. Here’s hoping this FET is a success for you!xx

Lemongrass1 · 25/08/2020 22:08

Out of interest for those of you that started with norethisterone first and then added buserelin, how did it work? How long before starting buserelin did you start the norethisterone and when did you stop? And did you start buserelin at CD21? If I need another go at FET I may ask for this protocol next time! X

OP posts:
ivfjourney5 · 25/08/2020 22:14

@Lemongrass1 I started norethistertone and buserelin on the same day, CD16. From what I've heard from others, mine is different to most though so probably not much help!

poupou · 25/08/2020 22:48

@Lemongrass1 ! I started noretheristone on day 14 and then i am starting this saturday (day 21) buserelin! Will stop noretheristone on day 25 (usually between day to 25 to 30) and wait for AF ( 3 -10 days after stopping). Havent gotten to that stage yet but i think others have.

poupou · 25/08/2020 22:53

@Lemongrass1 @ivfjourney5 ! As far as i understand Noretheristone is given so your clinic will know when you will bleed. Hence they are sort of arranging when your next AF will be. So depending on the clinic can choose the day to start either 14 or 16. Buserelin is to mimic menopause essentially to not allow your ovaries to produce any hormones and not ovulate! But i am not sure how it works on @Lemongrass1 protocol. Maybe is the short version? And that is why you skipped noretheristone?

Lemongrass1 · 25/08/2020 23:02

@poupou I believe you are right, so with my buserelin only course, the timing of the bleed is more unpredictable. But by adding the norethisterone with a scheduled stop date then this leads to a more predictable timing of the bleed around 5 days or so after abruptly stopping. If I need to do this again I will definitely ask if we can add norethisterone to consultant! Cramps have pretty much settled now so kind of feel in the dark as to when AF will eventually show. Hopefully tomorrow! Sorry for filling the thread with my AF laments 🤣

@Lemongrass1 hey! I've been watching and waiting in the sidelines because you are def not alone...I'm Also here waiting for AF & I think I'm behind you...I'm on the end of northisterone until next Monday then will be having AF so likely AF around 5th Sep! So I will be here longer than most, maybe I'm on the wrong bus!

Had our consenting call yesterday yesterday, waste of time doing a zoom call as I then had to drive the 35 mins to get the meds which took 3.5 hours overall as I got their just as the hospital pharmacist went on lunch. So I sat outside in my car for an hour watching heavily pregnant ladies smoking outside the women's & children's unit 😫before waiting more inside & driving home having gotten shouted at for not knocking a guy over 😖🤨but knocking my wing mirror back swerving to avoid him. If I didn't have a headache before from the northisterone.

So I've got my estrodil tablets, progesterone for the week before transfer & we are hoping for scan around 18th sep, maybe transfer around 25th.

Eww sounds horrible 😔 I used to work at a hospital with maternity unit and every day going in was triggering. Made worse when I had a scan for clomid and other woman pregnant waiting for scans I just cried. I’ve since changed jobs and it’s much easier as I don’t have to see that. Good luck with your cycle xx

JandL2020 · 26/08/2020 08:08

I forgot to ask question to nurse yesterday - transporting Gonal F short journey (20 minutes roughly) on Sunday and putting straight in fridge is okay isn’t it? I’m going round in laws for tea and don’t want to have to leave and come back. Also for anyone wondering all forms are exercise are fine up to egg collection/transfer - she just said I might feel bloated 2nd week of injections so may not feel like doing much. Sounds like a great excuse to me 🤣😊 xx

79andnotout · 26/08/2020 11:42

Hope AF comes soon @Lemongrass1 and @Minster2012. I thought my hospital waits for prescriptions were bad - but that sounded stressful!

@JandL2020 - I live 45 minutes drive from the hospital - I just put my meds in the fridge as soon as I got home.

Day 4 of stims here. The menopur injections have been fine, the Fragmin ones haven't been too bad but they are sore afterwards, so I am wearing loose fitting clothes and trying not to touch my abdomen. No bruising or any marks so far. My headaches are gone and I feel fine so far. I start the cetrotide tomorrow. The stash of drugs in my fridge is rapidly decreasing!

I decided to not do any running or weights throughout just because I figure I need all that protein being directed to my womb, not my muscles. Also, drinking 3L of water a day means I can't go more than ten minutes without needing the loo! I'm making sure I walk my dogs through the woods so I can nip behind a bush if I need to!

Thank you! Yeah good point about the protein and work outs. I only really do light kettlebells. I certainly won’t over do it and I’ll need the toilet every 5 seconds as well I’m sure. Is everyone cutting out caffeine? I usually have a cup of tea in the morning. Is this a no no? I also fancy a a chocolate today 😂 x
AutumnHoping · 26/08/2020 12:25

@JandL2020 I never cut out any caffeine with my first and second go. I didn’t want to shock my body without it to be honest lol

poupou · 26/08/2020 13:00

@JandL2020 ! I think i have the same timeline as you.
I am exercising for now while on noretheristone but i think i will
Stop and just do walks while i am waiting for lining to thicken.
I stopped caffeine and only having decaf x2 per day! Also increasing protein intake with whey protein!

JandL2020 · 26/08/2020 13:36

I’m hopingby increasing protein this counts as an McDonald’s milkshake 😋

Eggling · 26/08/2020 13:47

Hello hope everyone is well. AF started today so I'm booked in for my day 10 scan next Friday. So hoping it goes smoothly as my body has a habit of not behaving as it should!

I'm doing FET- does anyone know what day they generally do the transfer? I know it depends on my lining but as a rough guide? It'll be a 5 day embryo. I initially thought it was day 14 but not sure that makes sense thinking about it!

79andnotout · 26/08/2020 13:49

I've cut caffeine (in tea, coffee) but I did it a couple of weeks ago as it made me feel like hell. We have a fancy coffee machine at home so I'm just waiting for the bag of decaf beans to arrive and then I'm going onto decaf lattes so I at least get the smell (and extra protein and fluid from the milk).

I had a five guys milkshake the other day @JandL2020 and a burger, but they weren't as good as I remembered. I was very disappointed.

I tried to give up sugar but have failed. I don't think I've had a single day without chocolate or cake so far. I can't even just not buy stuff in as we have a kitchen full of cake ingredients and my boyfriend often churns out a batch of cookies when he's feeling peckish. I could ask him not to, but I don't want to!

AutumnHoping · 26/08/2020 14:19

@Eggling waiting to hear responses. I’m waiting on AF. My body doesn’t usually play ball either so I suspect my transfer (all being well) will be longer than the normal or average!

Yes five guys overrated. Just waited forever at McDonald’s for milkshake. Worth every 488 calories 😋
LKSF · 26/08/2020 14:35

@Eggling Hi 😊 I’m waiting on a FET but I’m not really sure the process, your a lot further on than me! My clinic told me to call them when I come on my period so they can send me out drugs and get me booked in for scans etc but after researching on google it said I needed to take the drugs on day 1of AF so I’m a little confused! They were telling me this when I rang them to say my previous cycle was negative so to be honest I think I was just crying and not really listening 🙈
Did you take drugs before AF arrived? X

AutumnHoping · 26/08/2020 14:53

@LKSF I am to start Progynova on Day 2

LKSF · 26/08/2020 15:20

Hi @AutumnHoping so did you call up your clinic and get them to send you out the drugs before your AF arrived? It hard because I’m not really sure when I’m due as I haven’t really had a proper bleed since my failed transfer! 😩 think my best bet is to call the clinic next week so I know exactly what I’m supposed to be doing!

ChicaXS · 26/08/2020 15:21

Afternoon ladies! Hope all is well!

Nothestirone really is a bitch hey? Thank good it’s my last day tomorrow but my body has been transported into A spotty teenager with severe bloatedness and teen tantrums. Thank God it’s my last day tomorrow however I will be on the injections from next week and I’m dreading whether I’ll be more hormonal than I am ha ha. Does anyone know what time I should be taking GONAL F On day 2? I understand that my DT will always be my bleed on day one before noon however the nurse never really mentioned a time on when I will be taking the injection on day two? Also from what I understand we should be taking the injection the same time every day the same with Cetrotide? Welcome newbies and hooray for those that aubt flow has arrived, for those still waiting, it’s literally around the corner!
Regarding FET I have no idea what day it should be transferred I’m in the same predicament as I’m hoping to get it transferred as soon as possible post my PGS results. Also didn’t know about the medication to prepare the lining before FET transfer, I was hoping they do the FET in your normal cycle.

AutumnHoping · 26/08/2020 15:25

@LKSF I got my medication shortly after the consent appointment so had it over a month so I had it when I was ready to start. Yea, give them a call and see can you get it so you are ready to go and not have to miss the next cycle. The clinic would maybe lend you some to keep you going if it wasn’t delivered on time. Goodluck xx

Tarsette · 26/08/2020 17:26

@ChicaXS yes, you have to take Gonal F at the same time every day, usually in the late evening, within a one hour margin approx. Getting meds to prep the lining for FET is only needed if you have lining issues (like me). Otherwise you can have a natural cycle or a medicated one (if there are other hormonal issues).
