Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@JandL2020 sorry I am sure you mentioned that and a full bladder? There are so many people and the conversations move so fast! Thats exciting have you tried without the scratch? And why did you choose it this cycle?

ChicaXS · 24/08/2020 16:35

@UnicornPuff haha feel free to use My description haha! Is it weird that I’m excited to use them next week lol!

Thanks all regarding the spotting. Yes I’ll call my clinic is I still see spotting to make sure all is ok! The nausea is ridiculous though. Haven’t thrown up yet but defo feel like it’s at the back of my throat!

Xx

This is my first cycle of IVF and just went with the scratch as it was offered to me. Since doing a bit more research there isn’t strong evidence for it. I probably wouldn’t do it again as it wasn’t pleasant. The full bladder is the worst and I swear I needed the toilet a lot more in the days following. Xx

JandL2020 · 24/08/2020 16:58

@79andnotout

I haven't found the injections bad at all (although I've only done 4), even Fragmin which has a fatter needle.

The thing I'm struggling with is drinking 3L of water. That's a lot of water! I feel like I'm doing some sort of juvenile drinking game. I'm glad I'm working from home, as I'm on the loo every ten minutes.

I've also got a headache. I don't know if this is from the menopur or if it's still me just missing caffeine. Anyway, time for a bit of a lie down I think.

I've given up all my usual forms of exercise for this cycle, I'm just sticking to walking. It's only a month off, I guess, although it pains me as I'm quite fit at the moment and I know how quickly I usually lose it. Oh well.

Good luck tomorrow for the scan @JandL2020.

Thanks. I may drag myself out for a walk tonight before the crappy weather arrives tomorrow xx
poupou · 24/08/2020 20:10

@ivfjourney5 ! How are you doing on progynova? Lining tips that i heard from others: aspirin increases blood flow but talk with your clinic about this, warm bottles, increase protein intake, raspberry leaf tea, vitamin E and L'Arginine. Running doesnt help at all either. However iif your lining is fine and still exercising keep going.
@HavingFaith! I hope your AFis here!
@ChicaXS ! Also have lots of nausea while on noretheristone! But after a few hours of taking the pill gets better.

thefishthatcouldwish · 24/08/2020 20:15

My scan today went ok. Only thing got to wait for AF to fully arrive if it does tonight I need to ring the clinic and start injections tomorrow. Spotting but no full period.

Covid fest was ok.

HavingFaith · 25/08/2020 09:29

@79andnotout so glad you’ve started now! Hope the headaches have eased x

@thefishthatcouldwish good to hear your scan and the Covid test both went well! Has AF fully arrived now?

@UnicornPuff @poupou AF has arrived! I barely slept a wink because the cramps were so bad, but at least it meant I knew AF would arrive today. Will call the clinic and see when they book me in for my scan

@Lemongrass1 any sign of AF for you? (Sorry if you’ve said already, I tried to scroll back but it’s very likely I’ve missed lots!)

JandL2020 · 25/08/2020 09:55

AF in full flow waiting for my baseline scan 😭🤮 I think this is the most worried I’ve been so far! X

thefishthatcouldwish · 25/08/2020 10:10

@HavingFaith yes and it’s very painful. Taken paracetamol which hasn’t touched the sides. I feel sick and hot. Have come to do paperwork but so far have done zero. Might go home and try and sleep. N

HavingFaith · 25/08/2020 10:17

@JandL2020 hope your scan goes well!! Fingers crossed it all goes perfectly xx

@thefishthatcouldwish sorry you’re in so much pain! Definitely head home if you can. I feel your pain - I’m currently curled up in a ball, in bed with my laptop trying my hardest to get some work done.

Thank you. It was fine in the end - nurse was lovely and lining is thin enough to start stims tomorrow. I’m off to bed as well with laptop and ‘working’ - can’t switch my mind to do anything at the moment. I either want to cry, sleep or go on mumsnet 😂 on plus side the nurse said I can exercise normally during stims...swimming and kettlebells etc is fine. Just after egg collection/transfer is no no and light exercise like walking only. Xx

ivfjourney5 · 25/08/2020 11:23

@unknownscot I was living in pjs mostly! Towards the end of stims and after egg collection I was so bloated I actually looked pregnant so I avoided going out!

@JandL2020 I'm glad the scan went well!

@ChicaXS sorry you're not doing so well on norethistertone. How are you feeling today? Hopefully the side effects start to subside for you

@poupou the progynova is going well thank you. I've just looked at the number of tablets I've got and it's more than double the amount than I need, I thought it stops after transfer, does anyone else know? I don't want to waste the nurses time asking them, I've double and triple checked I'm taking the correct dose, i just can't understand why they've given me so much. Thanks for the tips re lining, I'll have a look at some of them!

@HavingFaith I'm glad AF has arrived for you and you can move onto the next steps now

@thefishthatcouldwish, @JandL2020 and @HavingFaith please be kind to yourselves and go and rest if you need it!

I'm starting back at acupuncture tonight. I started back in Jan before I had treatment to get some natural approaches while we were waiting, but the lady has just opened up again post Covid

HavingFaith · 25/08/2020 11:45

@JandL2020 great news all went well at the scan! Heading back to bed sounds like a great plan - it’s so emotionally draining you need those ‘do nothing days’ x

@ivfjourney5 my protocol/clinic says that progynova and progesterone should continue to be taken until week 12 of pregnancy, so I also have huge amounts. Maybe your clinic is the same? Definitely worth checking out when you speak to them next. That’s amazing timing for your accupuncturist to be be back working! Enjoy your session later x

HavingFaith · 25/08/2020 12:18

The nurse just called back and booked my baseline scan for this Friday morning (CD4).

I initially missed the call so called straight back and they actually answered the phone first time (this has never happened, not once!). But the nurse that answered couldn’t find a trace of anyone calling me and then said “who told you to start taking meds, we don’t have any record of that” My heart almost exploded out my chest.
It all got sorted in the end and they do definitely have record of my previous appts and consent signing etc! But it’s made me feel so nervous, like I’ll show up for transfer and there’s no record of me or they haven’t thawed my embryo 🙃
This fertility stuff is such a wild ride, you just never know what’s going to be thrown at you next!!

Ok, moaning over, now to find some chocolate x

poupou · 25/08/2020 12:27

@HavingFaith! Its the last thing that anyone needs going through the treatment and anxiety for the clinic to be so out of it! My clinic also didnt had any notes foe one of my appointments last month and i got so upset by it! Great news that is sorted and best of luck for your scan!
@ivfjourney5 i think as havingfaith said that you might need to continue the medication up to a certain point in pregnancy or maybe it was just in case you will need higher doses?

ivfjourney5 · 25/08/2020 12:49

@HavingFaith and @poupou thanks! I knew the progesterone would continue to be taken until week 12 if it's a positive result, but I didn't think I'd continue with oestrogen. I suppose it makes sense though with the amount I've got!
@HavingFaith oh god, that sounds dreadful. Thank goodness they found the notes in the end, not what you needed this morning! Enjoy the chocolate, you deserve it

UnicornPuff · 25/08/2020 12:53

@HavingFaith yay! When is your baseline scan?

@JandL2020 I am glad your scan went well. I think the general rule is its normal to worry about every single tiny thing that happens in this process, but never worry about the embarrassing stuff because they have seen it all before and if they are any good will make you feel like it doesnt matter.

@HavingFaith I am so sorry, that must have been the most awful call. I can see why you would get extra anxiety. Hopefully it is a one off and they won't do it again! @poupou to you too! Your would think they would be super careful because they are talking to women who have been playing with their hormones!

Hope the rest days are helping everyone.
I am working from home to self isolate and in comparison to my last cycle feel fine. But I suppose I am only a couple of days in. Or I am lucky this time!

thefishthatcouldwish · 25/08/2020 13:39

@HavingFaith what a nightmare.

Hope you’re feeling better.

I have slept and slept which is good. I really want a bath.

Children start back next ( am pre school manager) week so need to get my room ready. Final checks etc.

Tarsette · 25/08/2020 17:09

Hello ladies, can I join too? I will be having a FET in September. It will be my 4th and last one. I have thin lining issues (due to damage caused by an IUD) so have been on the IVF rollercoaster for quite a while! It started with having uterine scars removed in 2016 and a first successful cycle in 2017 which gave me a beautiful daughter. We started trying for baby number 2 a year ago and I have had 3 unsuccessful transfers and 2 cancelled cycles. The last cycle was cancelled in July because my doctor found polyps in my uterus so I had to have an operation in August to remove them. If all looks good once I start my next cycle (prob Sept 1 or 2), I will start Gonal F injections to get my lining to grow properly and hopefully will be able to have a transfer around Sept 20th. I am going to go for a double transfer to increase my chances since it will be my last try... Not looking forward to the bloating that comes with the injections but at least I know exactly what to expect! I look forward to following all of your journeys!

Lemongrass1 · 25/08/2020 19:01

I feel so depressed, am I the only one still waiting for AF?? 😭 It has usually has come by today when I’ve downregged before but being obstinate this time. Had period pains on and off since before weekend and all day today but no bleed so far! Feeling bloated and moody for days too. Argh 😣

poupou · 25/08/2020 20:23

@Tarsette! Hello! I am
Sorry for the unsuccessful cycles and the cancelations. As far as i know for thin lining some clinics also give viagra for increase blood flow but l arginine and vitamin e are proven to work well to increase lining.
@Lemongrass1! Oh honey iam sure its a nightmare to wait for AF to arrive so you can progress. Dont despair. It depends on what other medication you are on as it also might delay things and usually they say between 3-10 days after stopping norethisterone AF should arrive. How long is it since for you? Fingers crossed it will arrive soon

UnicornPuff · 25/08/2020 20:24

@Lemongrass1 I am sorry that AF is keeping you waiting. At least with the period pains and mood you know it is on its way. Have you been downregging? Or waiting to start downreg?

@Tarsette welcome. It sounds like it has not been an easy journey for you so far. I hope your double transfer turns into a beautiful baby brother or sister to your little one.

Lemongrass1 · 25/08/2020 20:29

@poupou @UnicornPuff thanks for the reply. I’ve been downregging for 11 days, not taking norethisterone. This is the fourth downreg at its always come by day 11 before so I was hoping it would come by now ☹️ I have my downreg scan next Thursday so need it to come by end of week otherwise I’ll have to push back the scan. V annoying, just want to know my dates

@Lemongrass1! I am so sorry that is so frustrating ! am positive it will arrive soon. And i completely understand the need to know the dates!
