Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

@UnicornPuff that’s great news! Glad your scan went well and you can move onto the next step! Hope your first menopur goes well tomorrow 😊

79andnotout · 22/08/2020 10:00

Ugh I've been on these TTC forums for nearly half a decade now so all the acronyms are too familiar!

@Unicornpuff hope the first injections go well.

@Lemongrass1 - my period arrived during the night so I called my clinic this morning. It was all very anticlimactic. They said they'd call me back today or tomorrow! They will let me know if I can start this cycle then. They also asked how long my cycles are (they're short, usually 24/25 days) so I think that means I'll need to get on with it quickly so I hope they call me back today.

I've been for a run with my dog and had a coffee, just in case that's the last time I'll be able to do either of those things for a while.

My next door neighbour (and friend) had a baby at 1am this morning! So pleased for them, they've been trying for about 12 years and had five cycles, it's been a long road. I'm looking forward to being an 'aunty' to her. My sister is due any day now too. I've told them we're doing ivf so if it doesn't work and I'm depressed for a bit afterwards they don't take it personally. At least they've both been there (my sisters had loads of rounds of ivf too) so they'll understand.

79andnotout · 22/08/2020 15:47

Hmm no call back. Maybe I won't be starting this cycle after all. Ugh, that would be annoying.

UnicornPuff · 22/08/2020 18:49

@HavingFaith and @79andnotout first injection just done and was absolutely fine. I had the argh moment before I put the needle in but it goes in so easily and you barely feel it. I am starting to remember by the end of last time it was second nature! Which is lucky as because they upped my dose of menopur I now use 2 syringes!

@79andnotout did you hear back from the clinic today? If not I have everything crossed that you hear back with good news tomorrow.
Its amazing when you hear different peoples fertility struggles finally getting a beautiful baby. I dont know about you but I swing between positivity and being completely convinced it won't happen for us. This fills me with hope 😁

ivfjourney5 · 23/08/2020 10:38

Hoping and praying you get a call today @79andnotout 🤞🏼It's really good you've got some understanding people around you!

@UnicornPuff so glad your first injection went well!

Welcome @ChicaXS I had buserelin as my trigger. Are you at risk of OHSS?

@Lemongrass1 I hope AF has turned up for you now?

@thefishthatcouldwish good luck for the scan tomorrow!

@HavingFaith not much longer on the norethistertone now, hope AF doesn't take too long afterwards

HavingFaith · 23/08/2020 11:34

@UnicornPuff glad the first injection went well!

@poupou are you underway now too?! First norethisterone yesterday, if I remember rightly?

@ivfjourney5 yep, I’m waiting for AF now - stopped norethisterone on Wednesday just gone. Last time I took norethisterone it took 6days for AF to show up so I’m guessing it might be the same this time.
How are you getting on, on the progynova?

@79andnotout fingers, toes, everything crossed that your clinic calls you back and you can get started this cycle!xx

poupou · 23/08/2020 16:19

Hello @HavingFaith ! Yesss yesterday started noretheristone! Feeling slightly tired but probably has nothing to do with this. Next saturday starting buseralin! I hope your AF arrives soon. How are you feeling? Any side effects?

79andnotout · 23/08/2020 17:32

Hi guys, thanks for the good luck vibes, it came off! I had t chase them multiple times but I have now started, did my menopur and fragment injections about an hour ago. I do the next lot in the morning and then the same time each day. It's good to have started! Doing the injections wasn't too bad in the end, but I can feel the fragmin one still an hour later. My boyfriend was nearly sick while I was doing them, ha, there's no way we'd be having a child if he had to put himself through this!

Got my first scan booked for 1st September. Clashes with an important work meeting I have, typical. Will need to reschedule without giving the honest reason why. I've been stockpiling my excuses so I'm armed and ready!

Hope you're all having a nice weekend. It's been pissing it down here all weekend.

ChicaXS · 23/08/2020 17:43

@ivfjourney5 yes I have PCOS and quite a few follicles on each ovary so they put me on a OHSS risk group, however I’m going for FET anyway as we are doing PGS. This is my first IVF cycle so I have no idea what to expect. The nothisterone I’m on for 7 days then AF then injections! Why is buselerin good for OHSS?

X

Koalabear23 · 23/08/2020 18:38

@79andnotout I’m so pleased to hear the positive vibes worked and you’ve started! The work excuses whilst doing IVF is tough.

Good to hear a few people have started, good luck to everyone with their injections!

Lemongrass1 · 23/08/2020 19:26

@79andnotout @UnicornPuff congrats on starting!

Not much going on here, still waiting on AF. Due any time from ‘now’ but will be late if previous downregs are anything to go by! I hope it comes this week 🥺

79andnotout · 23/08/2020 21:12

Thanks @Lemongrass1! My period started pretty much on time and yet it still felt really late as I was itching for it to arrive, so I feel your pain. I have a feeling I'm going to have to dig deep to find some patience for the next month. It will be doubly hard work as I usually run to ease tension. My dog is probably going to get sick of being walked instead!

unknownscot · 24/08/2020 09:23

@ChicaXS you're on a very very similar protocol to me. I'm at a high risk of OHSS due to PCOS and extremely high AMH.

ivfjourney5 · 24/08/2020 09:58

@ChicaXS yes a trigger of buserelin really helps reduce a OHSS risk. I had my trigger changed to buserelin at last minute to reduce the risk and it worked, I didn't get OHSS! @ChicaXS and @unknownscot I wish you both the best that you don't over stimulate, do be prepared for bloating though

AutumnHoping · 24/08/2020 12:48

Can I join too? Should be starting FET in September following miscarriage in June. Hoping all goes in our favour this time! Goodluck to all x

HavingFaith · 24/08/2020 12:55

@thefishthatcouldwish hope your scan goes well today! Let us know how you get on x

@poupou I’m feeling pretty good! The buseralin hot flushes have settled down a bit. Feeling quite crampy today so hoping AF shows up tomorrow.

@ivfjourney5 @ChicaXS ahh I always wondered why I had Buseralin as a trigger! Nobody else I knew who had done ivf had it for their trigger but that makes sense to me now!

@AutumnHoping sorry to hear about your miscarriage xx
But welcome to the group, I really hope this FET is successful for you 😊

AutumnHoping · 24/08/2020 13:09

@HavingFaith thank you! Getting excited to start the journey again!

unknownscot · 24/08/2020 13:42

@ivfjourney5 oh I've got all my floaty dresses and stretchy clothes at the ready.
I'm signed off work so at least I'll be able to be in lounge wear to be a bit more comfortable.

Is anyone in the Glasgow area?

JandL2020 · 24/08/2020 13:59

I stopped the pill last Thursday but only started bleeding properly today. Baseline scan tomorrow - I’m a bit nervous about the bleeding 🩸 😔 I also sick yesterday on my last dose of antibiotic following ES - so I’m pretty exhausted and have zero motivation to do any work. At my appointment tomorrow I’m going to ask about exercise during stims...I really want to continue to swim Pilates etc. Xx

ChicaXS · 24/08/2020 14:58

Afternoon everyone!
Not having a great time with nothesterone I must say. Started to spot (tiny speck of blood) which may or may not be due to exercise ( I’ll tone down when I’ll start the injections!) or the meds. Most namely it’s cramping and nausea. Is that normal? It’s only day 4 of taking it.

@HavingFaith @ivfjourney5 @unknownscot bloatedness is nothing new to me lol so I wonder how bad it will be. I have severe IBS and PCOS so I always look pregnant! My BMI is in the healthy range and am relatively slim but always bloated! It gets worse with coffee but I have switched to decaff not that it makes a difference! Green tea bloats me the worst!

Thankfully working from home but I do PT exercising a week- wonder if I should cancel those until after egg collection?

My medication came today and it’s all becoming real! The needles are too cute - super thin I’m really happy with them - I thought they would be worse. May take a stab at doing it myself now lol

unknownscot · 24/08/2020 15:13

@ChicaXS
I'm glad to hear you feel confident about the needles now. I inject patients all day everyday but a bit anxious about doing it to myself.

And I know what you mean about bloat. My wardrobe ranges across so many sizes as depending where I am in my cycle/what I've eaten etc really alters my bloating!!

unknownscot · 24/08/2020 15:15

@ChicaXS Also, I'm not sure about spotting. Maybe call the clinic?
Nausea and cramp is 100% normal though xx

UnicornPuff · 24/08/2020 15:56

@79andnotout that brilliant news! Sometimes it pays off to keep calling if it gets things moving

@lemongrass1 and @HavingFaith has AF arrived? Our bodies are so cruel, going on holiday and it will turn up early to join you. Then the one time you want it, it takes its time!

@AutumnHoping welcome. I am really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Sending positive thoughts your way

@JandL2020 good luck for tomorrow's scan. I was terrified having had long protocol last time it doesn't feel like enough time for the lining to thin in 1 day after AF. They also do day 1 scans all the time, they won't worry about the bleeding so don't let it worry you. What does ES stand for?

@ChicaXS I haven't taken nothesterone, but from what I understand it is meant to help control your cycle. If you are having breakthrough/spotting its probably worth letting your clinic know to make sure its OK.
I love your description of the needles! I dont think I have ever heard them described that way! Next time I teach injections I might try your phrase and see if it work to help relax 😂

JandL2020 · 24/08/2020 16:03

Thank you UnicornPuff, that’s made me feel better. Sorry endometrial scratch. No sickness today luckily.
I’ve been listening to Magic FM today they have a fertility special! Xx

79andnotout · 24/08/2020 16:05

I haven't found the injections bad at all (although I've only done 4), even Fragmin which has a fatter needle.

The thing I'm struggling with is drinking 3L of water. That's a lot of water! I feel like I'm doing some sort of juvenile drinking game. I'm glad I'm working from home, as I'm on the loo every ten minutes.

I've also got a headache. I don't know if this is from the menopur or if it's still me just missing caffeine. Anyway, time for a bit of a lie down I think.

I've given up all my usual forms of exercise for this cycle, I'm just sticking to walking. It's only a month off, I guess, although it pains me as I'm quite fit at the moment and I know how quickly I usually lose it. Oh well.

Good luck tomorrow for the scan @JandL2020.
