Sept IVF/FET

I can’t see a Sept cycle up yet so thought I’d start one. Currently TTC #2. Our March FET was postponed due to Covid and we had a FET in July which sadly resulted in a BFN last week. Had our follow up last night and to our surprise we can try again straight away so signing consents next week and starting down reg in 2.5 weeks. Told the cycle went perfectly and must have been an embryo issue so we aren’t changing protocol but going for double embryo transfer this time. Anyone else looking to cycle/ transfer in Sept? Or am I a bit early/ keen 😂

Hiya, I'm just waiting on my period too. My cycle varies from 21-28 days and I'm currently on day 24, so any day now. I can kinds feel it coming but it's probably wishful thinking. I don't usually get cramps until after it's started.

I'm doing the short protocol with 450 mg menopur and then cetrotide to halt ovulation. Oh and Fragmin so I don't turn into a massive clot.

My drugs didn't arrive in the post but I managed to pick them up direct from the hospital pharmacy yesterday so I'm good to go.

I can't wait to just get on with it. This is my first cycle and it feels like we've been building up to it for forever!

LKSF · 20/08/2020 14:16

Hi Everyone hope you don’t mind me joining 😊
I had a fresh ET on 2nd Aug which sadly ended in a BFP! Luckily I had some embryos Frozen so I’m just waiting for a period next month to start the drugs ready for FET in October! 🤞🏼

Sending lots of luck to you all and praying all the embabies stick 🙏🏼 xx

UnicornPuff · 20/08/2020 15:05

@79andnotout at least your drugs are sorted and ready to go as soon as AF arrives. So is that 3 injections a day? It sounds stupid because there were more in total on the long protocol before but I dont want to start on 2 injections a day! I am sure the mental block will go as soon as i start again.

@LKSF sorry to hear your news. Everything seems to be a waiting game in this process. And you have some frozen so don't have to start from the beginning (although the process is no quicker!)

LKSF · 20/08/2020 15:10

@UnicornPuff I know I hate all this waiting, wish we could just go straight in for another transfer! Hopefully it’ll all be worth it in the end 🤞🏼

79andnotout · 20/08/2020 15:21

Welcome @LKSF - sorry to hear your first round didn't go to plan. But fingers crossed for the FET.

@UnicornPuff - I'll be doing 2 injections a day for the first few days then going on to 3. I've never given myself an injection before. I'm not particularly squeamish so hoping it's alright, although the fragmin is supposed to hurt. I had better get used to it though, as I would have to inject that one every day throughout the pregnancy and six weeks beyond, if I get that far. I think it would be ok in the beginning, but I can't imagine it's much fun injecting into a pregnant belly! How did you feel when you first had to inject? Did you manage ok? My OH is a massive wuss with blood and needles so I'm not even going to bother ask him to help.

Anyway, I'm using the excuse that I will need my spare tyre to inject into so I can't lose any weight right now. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

UnicornPuff · 20/08/2020 16:16

@79andnotout the injections are absolutely fine it is really the thought more than anything else. I have given plenty of injections (nurse) but it is just getting past the mental block that you will be the one to feel the sting! I tried through our first round to get my DH involved and do an injection but he wasn't having it. He was quite interested in mixing the vials but not the actual injecting!
Fragmin can be a bit stingy but again you will get used to it quickly. The delightful stuff we do!

ivfjourney5 · 20/08/2020 16:33

@UnicornPuff glad to hear you're going ahead with this cycle! I was on fyremedal for my short protocol, it has a small sting to it but nothing bad!

@unknownscot AF never plays ball when you want it to come! But at least it's arrived now and you can get the next steps!

@79andnotout 🤞🏼 anytime now for AF. I'm glad you managed to get yours drugs sorted in the end!

@LKSF sorry to hear about your fresh transfer, but let's focus on those lovely Frosties you've got tucked away! It's definitely worth the wait for FET instead of rushing, I know how frustrating it is but the body is in such a better place to look after the embryo

AF arrived yesterday (3 days after finishing norethistertone) so I start on progynova tomorrow morning! Hit me up with some tricks to help my lining!

JenniferRo28 · 20/08/2020 16:39

Hi Ladies, hope you dont mind me joining :) I will have a read through this chat from the start when i get time so i know whats what and whos who :)

Fingers crossed im due to start my first round of IVF in Sept, im based up in Scotland, can i ask, is it common that you phone in on the first day of your period and they tell you they have no space for you that month and to phone back next month? My letter from the hospital says this may happen im just curious if this is a rare occurrence or if i should be preparing myself for the fact we may not start until October :( Im sure you will all understand when i say a month to everyone else feel like 6 months to us :(

Gmax79 · 20/08/2020 17:04

Hi everyone! Just found this post so I hope you all don't mind me tagging along 😬 First IVF round for me - on a long protocol cycle. Day 5 of buserelin injections - so far so good apart from a bit of tiredness (which could be from many other things tbf!!). Best wishes to you all & hope I can add something helpful along the way 🥰

Gmax79 · 20/08/2020 17:15

@JenniferRo28 Hi - I'm up in Scotland too (Aberdeen 😬). I had a postponement due to C19 back in March but haven't heard of anyone being told to call back - but then, I am new to this IVF world 🙃

I am sorry to hear that, how frustrating for you 😔😔

Gmax79 · 20/08/2020 17:19

@JenniferRo28 - I have a smashed phone screen so didn't see your post clearly 😫 I didn't get this notification on my letters from the clinic. Fingers crossed your September call is 👍🏻

I have a new phone on order 😬

79andnotout · 20/08/2020 17:26

HI @JenniferRo28 - I have to call on the first day of my period too, and they tell me whether there is space or not. They said as it's my first round and I'm old they will almost definitely fit me in. I presume it's to do with how many egg collections they can do per day.

thefishthatcouldwish · 20/08/2020 18:14

Welcome @JenniferRo28 the waiting is horrible isn't it!!

DH rang clinic today as I am having baseline scan Monday and Covid tests but my protocol hadn't come through so I had no idea of times or dates etc!!

Lucky we did as we have to go in tomorrow for a blood tests as mine and DHs have ran out.

Had day of thinking I can't do this. I know it is the fear of unknow.

Lemongrass1 · 21/08/2020 10:14

@Koalabear23 @LKSF @JenniferRo28 @Gmax79- welcome!

@tryingtostaypostive AF is always so annoying, never here when you want it. Hope it shows soon. X

@79andnotout has AF turned up yet?

@ivfjourney5 so glad you are feeling better! It’s weird how the clinics all do differently. I guess they just go on consultants personal preference. Great news AF showed, I always find I feel better after AF comes!

@UnicornPuff great news you’ve started! How’s the sciatica?

@thefishthatcouldwish good luck for Mon 🤞🤞

@HavingFaith how are you doing?

Not much going on here, day 7 of buserelin. Had good doing period pains last night and was hoping AF would show early but nada 🤣😂

Lemongrass1 · 21/08/2020 10:15

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, so busy on here now 😁

OP posts:
HavingFaith · 21/08/2020 10:59

@Lemongrass1 I’m exactly the same as you - today will be day 7 of buseralin and not much to report! Just crazy hot flushes. Had some cramps last night so I’m hoping AF shows up in the next couple of days as I stopped norethisterone on Wednesday.

I need to have a look through my meds to see if I need another prescription - I have a stash of stuff left over from Feb when I wasn’t able to have a fresh transfer but not sure how much is left.

@LKSF @Gmax79 @JenniferRo28 welcome! 😊

@unknownscot did you hear back from your clinic about start dates?

unknownscot · 21/08/2020 11:13

Hi @HavingFaith

Yes, so start norethisterone of 8 sept and then menopur and fyremadel/cetrotide

Nervous but excited.

X

HavingFaith · 21/08/2020 11:20

@unknownscot yay! Very excited for you! Not long to wait now 😊
I did that same protocol earlier this year and it was also my first round of ivf and a freeze all x

ChicaXS · 21/08/2020 11:50

Hi all!

I’m also joining this month. My protocol is extremely simple compared you ladies?

I’m on notherstirone then only Gonal F and cetrotide. I have burselin once as a trigger. 12 days for now. Hopefully it’s enough?

X

LKSF · 21/08/2020 12:22

@ChicaXS it’s strange how everyone’s medication is different 🤷🏻‍♀️ i was on Nafarelin(nasal spray) and then Gonal F(injections) and then just the one trigger injection 12hours before egg collection and then the Utrogestan pessarie’s!x

No idea what the drugs will be for when I go for my FET!

unknownscot · 21/08/2020 12:45

@HavingFaith
How did you get on? How many eggs etc? If you don't mind me asking x

Gmax79 · 21/08/2020 13:02

Oh my days - I've just had to google 'AF' as I didn't know that IVF abbreviation 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I'll be 41 next month🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Always a school day, especially in the world of IVF - sooooo many abbreviations 😅😂

HavingFaith · 21/08/2020 13:18

@ChicaXS welcome!

@Gmax79 haha!! I’ve had to google so many times too! The one that baffled me the most was defo EWCM! 🤣

@unknownscot I got on ok on that protocol - didn’t have any bad side effects etc but of course it’s different for each woman.
I had 15eggs collected and ended up with 10 embryos.

unknownscot · 21/08/2020 14:57

@HavingFaith indeed, can never go with anyone else's journey. Each is so different.
I've taken norethisterone before and I don't remember getting side effects so hopefully be okay.

@Gmax79 oh I wouldn't worry too much - I never understand abbreviations and actually cringe using them sometimes!

UnicornPuff · 21/08/2020 15:55

@Lemongrass1 my sciatica is so much better still there but I have started to see a chiropractor and the immediate difference was amazing! When are you expecting AF to turn up?

@HavingFaith thats amazing that 10 fertilised, sending positive thoughts your way.

@unknownscot the time will fly and it will be the 9th before you know it!

I had my baseline scan today lining nice and thin and ovaries cyst free. So start my menopur tomorrow evening. Fermodyl Monday morning and if everything goes to plan egg collection guesstimate of either the 2nd of 4th of Sept.
