Tamoxifen

Hi all

I am about to venture into IVF in the next 2-3 months but want to try one final push at natural conception with ovulation induction. My clinic were happy to do so and prescribed me 40mg of tamoxifen to trial for one month. It’s not clomid (I wonder if this was due to my PCOS) but cannot find any stories on Mumsnet of anyone taking it? Any success stories first time round? I just wonder if it’s worth proceeding but I’d rather exhaust as much natural options before IVF.

Cheers

@Naylor19 14-15 eggs?! Sounds like loads! How did the collection go? What happens now?x

Naylor19 · 11/12/2020 16:06

@Tecalina we actually got 16! 🙈 9 have fertilised and are in the running at the minute. I'm going in for transfer tomorrow ☺️🤞🏻 x

ChicaXS · 15/12/2020 16:47

@Naylor19 how did it go? I believe your PUPO now right?!? Xx

@Tecalina thank you! I’m doing well and I have my first scan this week so very nervous. I had some bleeding so am not optimistic but am praying and trying to stay positive. Have all the pregnancy symptoms still so it’s a great sign! Just want to make it to week 12 at least so I can relax a bit it’s been extremely stressful this last week.
How are you doing?

Are you both nervous with covid? I started moving in a bit this week too and have mixed with so many people whilst travelling so am freaking out! I’m sure it’s nothing but it’s scary to catch covid now!

@ChicaXS it went well Thankyou, I am indeed! 🤞🏻 we also have 5 Frosties ❄️🥰 so feeling very blessed! x

ChicaXS · 15/12/2020 16:57

Oh @Naylor19 congratulations lovely! When is your official test day? X

OP posts:
Naylor19 · 15/12/2020 17:04

@ChicaXS Thankyou ☺️ it's the 23rd! So close to Christmas, I'll probably end up testing early but we have bloods booked in for then. I feel like I need a little pre warning either way before then. When did you start testing? x

ChicaXS · 15/12/2020 17:17

@Naylor19 my clinic were cruel lol - mine was a FET which means usually you can test 10 days after transfer. But they made me wait 14 days! I tested on day 13 though haha. I told them but they ignored my result and made me test the next day (which was positive) it was the hardest thing to resist testing early but I did it (kinda) ... I made my OH hide all the tests. It was a hard decision 😂

@ChicaXS oh wow that is mean! Haha you did well to hold out that long! I defo won't last that close to official test day 🙈 x

Tecalina · 23/12/2020 17:46

Hello ladies, apologies once again for the last of reply. I tested positive for Covid last week and have been bed-bound pretty much since! I wouldn't wish this on anyone so please look after yourselves and stay safe!

@Naylor19 It sounds like the process was very successful for you! How did the test go today? I wasn't sure whether I could ask but I really hope all is ok 🤞🏻xx

@ChicaXS How are you doing? What week are you now? A lot of girls in the Mumsnet group I was in experienced bleeding at the start and have gone on to have healthy pregnancies, so I really hope all is ok with you ☺️

Our house is all ready to move into, but my partner and I are isolating at my parents' until the end of the week, so we can't move in until after Christmas. Sods' law 🙈 xx

Naylor19 · 23/12/2020 17:48

@Tecalina hey lovely it definitely has! We are pregnant 🥰 cautiously optimistic as I had some spotting a few days ago but beta at 9dp on Monday was 248 and today it was 546! So more than double 🤞🏻 how are things with you x

Naylor19 · 23/12/2020 17:49

@Tecalina And sorry to hear you have Covid I wish you a speedy recovery! x

ChicaXS · 24/12/2020 12:13

@Naylor19 CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🤗👏👏👏 I’m so happy for you! Well done ! Are you now 5 weeks! Real chuffed for you and welcome to madness that is first time pregnancy!
@Tecalina you poor thing! God what a nightmare to be pregnant and catch covid! I know it’s safe and won’t affect pregnancy but it’s a pain to recover from. It’s making me nervous as if I do catch it I’d rather catch it after the birth or alternately later in the pregnancy! I’m only 8 weeks and not doing to well mentally or physically- constantly sick and worried about any little sneeze or pain or spotting. The spotting is still there but it’s extremely light (barely there!) but it’s still a headf@! To be honest so far I’m not enjoying this pregnancy at all and hope that once I hit 12-14 weeks I can believe in it a bit more. My nausea is constant and I try not to moan but it’s completely floored me in many ways. We’re in tier 4 aswell which meant Christmas is cancelled lol. Me and my hubby are having a chicken roast tomorrow since all the turkeys for Great Britain are stuck in Calais haha!
I haven’t move in either due to tier 4 as all of our deliveries have been postponed. We are ready to move but we need our bed at the very least and that’s been delayed. We’re hoping now early jan will be the move date but I really hope this govt doesn’t botch it.
Anyway as you can tell not in the most festive spirit lol. Sorry ladies but I do wish you both and amazing Xmas and most of all continued healthy pregnancies into 2021! Hopefully I’ll be able to shake off this grinch attitude very soon lol xxx

@ChicaXS Thankyou lovely! I'm 4+3 so still very early! Just wish I didn't have the spotting but have been assured by my consultant lots of women have it and go on to have successful pregnancies 🤞🏻 when I was pregnant last year my morning sickness didn't kick in till 7 weeks but it was awful so I definitely remember that! Just hoping this is the little babe we get to bring home this time 🤞🏻💖 xx

ChicaXS · 24/12/2020 12:47

@Naylor19 I know how you feel about the spotting. I know it’s hard but try and ignore it. Apparently is extremely common with IVF pregnancies due to surge of synthetic hormones. If it reassures you I’ve been spotting since pregnant and heard a healthy heart beat at 7 weeks. Fingers crossed for you, you just got to persevere these next couple of weeks. I hope we bring home our rainbow babies too xx

Naylor19 · 24/12/2020 13:23

@ChicaXS oh really that is reassuring! It's just so bloody hard isn't it! I'll feel better when we get past the point of our last loss. I'll be keeping everything crossed for us both, after such a shitty year we must be due some luck! xx

Tecalina · 24/12/2020 15:02

@Naylor19 Oh my god!!!! Congratulations doll! This is wonderful news. I know it's very early days but you must feel so relieved that your efforts have finally worked for you ☺️ You will be in my thoughts in the coming weeks and I'll be sending over lots of positive vibes. How fab it would be, all of us going into 2021 with little bubbas inside us 😁😁 As @ChicaXS says, spotting is so normal for many women, I hope it doesn't make you too anxious (which, of course, is easier said than done!). Do you get a 7 week check up, to listed to the heartbeat etc?

Covid-wise I seem to be on the mend. I've still got some muck on my chest and breathing is a little trickier than usual, but the nausea, exhaustion, aching muscles and sore throat seem to be going! I honestly wouldn't wish this on anyone, it's been so debilitating!

Are you able to at least celebrate Christmas in some way or another in Leicestershire? I get so confused with all these different tiers now!xx

@ChicaXS Please don't apologise for having a bit of a rant, I assure you I've done more than that these last few weeks 😂 I remember the first trimester sickness well. It hit me at bang on 7 weeks when we were in Cornwall and it spoiled the holiday quite a bit because I didn't feel up to doing anything! We were back at the guesthouse by 7pm every day because I was constantly exhausted! I really hope it passes for you, mine went around week 14 so I'm afraid you might have a little while to go yet 🙈 But of all goes well it'll be totally worth it!! When is your next appointment/check up, or do you have to wait until the nhs one at 12 weeks now?

We're hoping to unofficially move in next weekend. The removals guys aren't due until the 9th Jan, but we've got a mattress so we'll just set that up on the floor for a week 😂 I've already given my clinically vulnerable mother Covid, I don't want to risk passing anything else on to her once we've all recovered!

I don't think any of us are feeling particularly festive at the moment, roll on 2021!xx

Naylor19 · 24/12/2020 15:09

@Tecalina Thankyou lovely we definitely feel blessed to have had it work first time! We get a scan on January 14th where I'll be 7+3 so just counting down to that now! 🤞🏻 it would be so lovely if all 3 of us had little babas in 2021! 🥰 I have read lots of forums about spotting and ivf so I'm trying to relax a little more, I'm not sure if it was my pessaries and since I stopped using the applicators I've had no more spotting so touch wood it won't come back! 🤞🏻

We're in tier 3 so we're going to my mums for Christmas dinner which should be lovely. Are you able to do much where you are?

I'm glad your starting to feel a little better too! Covid still makes me so anxious even more so now we're pregnant! But I know a few women who've had it during pregnancy and lucky everything with baby is fine. So at least that's something xx

Tecalina · 26/12/2020 15:45

@Naylor19 I remember counting down the days to my 7 week scan at Create, it was torture! But it arrived and was worth the agonising wait 😁 I really hope it's the same for you ☺️ I'm so, so pleased the spotting has stopped, my fingers are crossed it doesn't happen again! When will you tell family/close friends?

We're in Tier 4, so Christmas would have just been spent with my parents and my brother but because of our positive tests, my brother wasn't able to come over so we're celebrating on the 31st instead!

I'm feeling a bit more human today, after 11 days of feeling like utter rubbish! My breathing is still very iffy though, made worse by a tiny human squishing all my organs up 🙈 xx

Naylor19 · 26/12/2020 15:52

@Tecalina I hope so! We've already told close family as they knew we were doing ivf. But we'll announce to other at 12 weeks hopefully 🤞🏻

Aw that's annoying but at least you have a plan to still celebrate! And hopefully by then you'll feel back to normal!

Glad it's not been to horrendous, I can imagine covid and growing a little one is tiring stuff! x

ChicaXS · 06/01/2021 15:10

Happy new year ladies!

Sorry I have taken so long to respond again - my mental health took a dump recently as I’ve been suffering from pregnancy anxiety! I’m hoping to speed through to the second trimester where things will be much safer! Nausea has been really bad too and not getting any better. All I eat are cheese and onion crisps! My appt hasn’t come through yet which is worrying lol! I chased up today as I’m over 10 weeks. I don’t really mind being late as our hospitals are prioritising the crisis but I do want my nuchal scan on time as I’m worried about issues that may arise.

@Tecalina how are you recovering now love? I felt so bad for you with covid! I’m actually really scared to catch it whilst pregnant, rather catch it later in my pregnancy if I had a choice! Are you all better? Have you moved in? I’m sure lockdown hasn’t helped? We Still have not moved either but that’s because of our own choice, I didn’t want the stress until I feel a bit better. All our deliveries have been pushed back too due to lockdown so it all sucks!

@Naylor19 how are you feeling?!? I hope the spotting has subsided? Not long now until your scan!!!!! Must be so exciting!

Naylor19 · 06/01/2021 15:14

@ChicaXS hey lovely hope you get your scan sorted soon! 🤞🏻 I'm ok sickness kicked in last week and I'm so tired! Luckily working from home so at least that's something. No more spotting since then so that's a relief too ☺️🤞🏻 I'm 6+2 today just grateful to still be in the running! Scan next Thursday so definitely excitedly anxious for that! 🙈 x

Tecalina · 06/01/2021 18:56

Hey ladies, I'm very happy to say I kicked Covid in the gonads (I've decided it would be male as it's a total bastard 🙊🙈). I still have a chesty cough, but I no longer want to fall asleep all the time...Well, not before 5pm anyway 😂

@Naylor19 You're over half way to the 12 week mark, that's exciting! I'm so glad you're still ok, and you get to hear the little heartbeat next week ❤️ Such a magical time! The sickness is awful but it's definitely a good sign! Working from home during the first trimester is definitely a blessing, no one can guess what you're going through 😁 Any other symptoms?xx

@ChicaXS Which hospital are you at, if you don't mind me asking? It's really strange but since moving back in London I've had a much better antenatal experience. I was originally at Watford and they were terrible! I really do appreciate we're in the middle of a pandemic but it angers me that other services have to suffer because our poor NHS has been ripped apart for years (sorry for the rant 🙈). But I can't believe you're 10 weeks already, I'm so happy for you!! When will you be discharged from the private clinic?

We are moving in on Saturday, as we were waiting for the carpets to be fitted. I honestly can't wait to start setting up the house, it feels like I've waited forever! It was definitely sensible of you to delay moving until feel better. The first trimester is rubbish enough, you need home comforts xx

Naylor19 · 06/01/2021 19:19

@Tecalina yay great news! 🥳 glad your feeling better lovely!

Yes a great way to look at it, halfway! Anxious but excited about next weeks scan 🙈 I've had the odd cramping but that's mainly after inserting the pessaries! And sore bbs 😳 I'm also super tired all day 😂 I could day nap easily if I wasn't working lol xx

ChicaXS · 07/01/2021 12:05

@Naylor19 ahhh so happy for you! Enjoy the scan next week- it’s really something when you see the little blob :) hopefully you will get to hear the heartbeat which is amazing!!! And welcome to nausea. It’s been waking me up at 2-3am every morning! Are you still on the pessaries?

@Tecalina hoooooray for the end of covid! So glad your feeling much better! How were the doctors and nurses with your recovery? Did they seem worried?
I was discharged from Care yes with the exception of medication prescription. I still need to take injections and pessaries until week 12. I feel like I’m pumped with extra pregnancy hormones and can’t wait for them to end! I’m at east London still until next month or so but my hospital is the royal London. It’s going to be a weird one as I’ll have my first scan and appointment then request to transfer. I have no idea where to transfer yet - I presume it’ll be Kingston hospital as that’s closest to surbiton? Where are you? Was it easy to transfer? Xxxx
