Hi all

I am about to venture into IVF in the next 2-3 months but want to try one final push at natural conception with ovulation induction. My clinic were happy to do so and prescribed me 40mg of tamoxifen to trial for one month. It’s not clomid (I wonder if this was due to my PCOS) but cannot find any stories on Mumsnet of anyone taking it? Any success stories first time round? I just wonder if it’s worth proceeding but I’d rather exhaust as much natural options before IVF.

Cheers

@Naylor19 I'm so jealous of your 4D scan photo! We went for one but after four attempts, Stella was still being a stubborn mare and insisted on having her hands or legs over her face 🙈 she clearly wanted it all to be a surprise 😂 Chubby cheeks are the best though, I can already tell she's going to be a beaut ❤️❤️

When are you starting maternity leave? Have you decided how long you'll take off? Do you get a good maternity package with you?xx

Tecalina · 10/06/2021 20:40

@Naylor19 *Work, not you!

Naylor19 · 14/06/2021 13:40

@Tecalina aw they can be so cheeky can't they! Our baby's been head down for all our scans recently so it's been awkward to get good images but we were quite pleased with those ones they did manage to get! ☺️ I'm starting maternity leave on the 23rd august but because I work in a school we break up July 14th so I'll have a good few weeks paid before she arrives thankfully! I'm planning on taking 9 months off, I'll only get SMP sadly so it's a big pay drop for 9 months but we'll make it work! x

Tecalina · 15/06/2021 19:32

@Naylor19 Maternity pay is rubbish, isn't it?! I'm having to go back to work a couple of months early because my pay goes down to £0 after month nine and we've got a mortgage and bills to pay 🤦🏼‍♀️ My parents will thankfully look after Stella for two days a week but even then, her nursery costs £1066 a month for the other three dyas 😭😭😭 The government really needs to look into maternity pay and make it more realistic!
It'll be nice to you to have a few weeks extra, hopefully you get to enjoy them and the little one doesn't make a surprise appearance like mine did 🙄
Do you work in a primary or secondary school? What year??xx

Naylor19 · 17/06/2021 12:13

@Tecalina yes it is! It's so frustrating that they don't make it more affordable for working couples. Childcare costs are ridiculous, which is why lots of women don't go back to work! They should do a working couples grant for childcare to bridge the gap between end of maternity and their free childcare hours. We also have a mortgage and bills to pay so I'll be going back after 9 months too! I work in a SEN primary school with mixed ages, depending on ability. We move classes most years though so it's never the same to give staff a break from certain behaviours. I do love my job though it's so rewarding and we have our own forest and farm which is incorporated into daily school life for all children. ☺️ xx

ChicaXS · 20/06/2021 15:57

@Tecalina ha your response made me laugh and reassure me that I am making the right decision with opting an epidural! Like you, I would have preferred natural with gas and air but I don’t think I’m brave enough! I’m sorry you had a crap experience but it’s over now and Stella is worth it!

I am at Kingston - I find them really good this far but only had two appts which were good! My midwife is at my GP and she’s great ! However my NCT trainer cannot sing Kingston’s praises enough so it’s makes me feel so much more comfortable with the birth!

I think I’m the only lunatic going back within 5 months. My job is pretty hardcore and frankly I want to get back ASAP. Last day is 23rd July and back on 3rd Jan. your doing the right thing @Naylor19 I wish I could take longer but honestly I feel nervous with work. But I can always change my mind down the line ! I only have 16 weeks full pay too and the rest is SMP. I think that is rubbish for a private (and multi billion dollar) company ?

Regarding our 4D scan, he wasn’t behaving at all. Had his legs in front of his face so we gave up lol. Also he is transverse at the moment which is freaking me out as he needs to move head down in the next few weeks to avoid intervention. I’m starting exercises next week and am hoping he gets head down!

I have my final NCT class tomorrow - it was a good course but I wasn’t floored by it. Honest you can learn more on mumsnet! The social element is nice I get to meet the mums this week in surbiton!

My house is coming along nicely but me and my OH are so last minute! We still haven’t done the nursery but it really does start next week lol! Should have been done weeks ago! House is pretty much there just needs some more decor and we can breathe! Loving surbiton- didn’t think I would but it’s a nice area!

Xx

@Naylor19 That's quite a full on job! But rewarding, as you say 🙂 And to have a forest and farm is pretty cool. Bet the kids love it!!

How are you doing now?

Tecalina · 05/07/2021 18:51

@ChicaXS How see you getting on? How many weeks is it now??x

Naylor19 · 06/07/2021 07:40

@ChicaXS it is frustrating, you'd think a big company could offer a better maternity package! My work also just require so much notice before starting back so flexible with how much time I take if I change my mind which is good. Sorry your 4D scan wasn't as successful it's frustrating when you can't get decent pictures isn't it! Hopefully he'll flip and be in the right position for you soon! 🤞🏻 how long have you got left now? It can't be long! x

@Tecalina yeah they do! It's amazing in the summer! ☺️ I'm ok, I've got to go and do the GTT test tomorrow because it's the second time I've had sugar in my urine which is annoying! Hoping it's not diabetes though! Feeling more and more Achy by the day now and she's moving so much it hurts sometimes! But feeling blessed to be here ☺️ how's things with your new little one? x

ChicaXS · 06/07/2021 18:11

Hello lovely ladies!

I’m doing well, just abouts! On the last mile now however some annoying news…. I am 36 weeks and baby is still breech. Have to see the consultant tomorrow on next steps which means I may need a c section. I’m contemplating a vaginal breech birth but the stats of an emergency c section is distressing…. I don’t like the idea of an ecv as it seems unnatural and psychologically dangerous! I will find out tomorrow what my stats are of him moving but they say babies are usually locked at 36 weeks (though I know women who have had their babies turn last minute which is really reassuring!)

@Naylor19 I passed my GTT but a week later they found sugar in my urine (I had +++ which is really high) They put me on strict diet for a week (I pretty much had low carb and zero sugar) and have passed my urine tests ever since. It literally is sporadic so don’t worry xxx

@Tecalina how is stela doing?

I posted some of my nursery pics, we literally finished it on Sunday lol!

Where on earth have the last coup of months gone?! You've both probably had your babies by now, or are at least mere days away?!

@Naylor19 How did the GTT scan go? Where are you at now??

@ChicaXS please update us! How did it all go??

All is great with Stella and myself. She's 7 months on Friday 😱 With a bit of sleep training she is sleeping through the night, which is wonderful for us! I finally have half a brain to work with 😂 She's on solids, which is an interesting experience - oh the mess - and her reflux is sloooowly getting better 🤞🏻🤞🏻. She's also sitting up now, it's all happening so quickly 😭😭
We are hopefully off to Greece in a few weeks, provided travel rules stay as they are now, so I'm currently making lists of all the baby crap we have to take!

I'm so excited for you both and would love an update whenever you can!!xx

Naylor19 · 31/08/2021 10:22

@Tecalina the time has flown! So glad nights are getting better for you, we're in the constant tired state at the minute! Greece sounds lush, we've been a few places it's one of our favs! Hope you have an incredible time!

Florence Iris Naylor made her appearance on the 22nd August at 39+1 after suspected preeclampsia. A traumatic birth but she's wonderful, 7 pounds 13 oz of pure perfection! 🥰 we've been in a little bubble of baby bliss since!

Hope everything's ok with you @ChicaXS xx

Hello lovely ladies! So great to hear from you both!
@Naylor19 congratulations my love! Florence is absolutely beautiful!!!! What a stunner! I’m so sorry you had a traumatic birth- did you end up having a natural birth ? The preeclampsia scare must have been unpleasant 😭
I’m proud to announce Rami Lance! He was born on 28 July- c sec as I stayed breech and the little mite wouldn’t move. It’s been a journey since, poor rami has severe reflux and we’re now suspecting a cows milk allergy. He is only 5 weeks. It’s been really stressful since I’m sleep deprived, recovering from surgery and dealing with a poorly newborn 👶🏼 😔
I wouldnt swap it for the world though!
@Tecalina so nice to hear on your progress! I hope stela is doing well! I would love to hear about how you recover from her reflux too! I’m so jealous on your Greek holiday- hoping this will be us next year! I hope you have an amazing time!

Shall we start a WhatsApp group? Xx

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!!! What an amazing journey we've all been on and finally we have our babies 😁😁

@Naylor19 I'm so sorry you had a traumatic birth, when you feel ready, I'd be interested in hearing your story. Florence is absolutely gorgeous, enjoy the bubble!

@ChicaXS Rami's adorable but I'm sorry he's having a hard time with reflux. Stella's has only just gotten better, since she started sitting up unaided. But she still spits up after lost feeds, but no where near as much as she used to. We found the main cause was her constipation, she was so backed up she didn't have room for food, the poor little thing!

I'm happy to chat via WhatsApp - 07871273457 x

Sharing in case it helps someone with thin lining.

I’m 31 and have struggled with very thin lining, no proper periods for a year, a past D&C, and 10 years with an IUD. Every doctor told me my lining was “fine,” but nothing was working and I couldn’t even get a normal cycle. Always been under 5mm.

I tried everything: estrogen, vitamin E, castor oil, Viagra suppositories, letrozole, Asprin, warm foods, supplements — absolutely nothing changed. I even tried trental which is now insane to me.

This cycle I did two new things after my own research:

1️⃣ Tamoxifen 20mg CD6–10 (used in some fertility cases for lining support)
2️⃣ Proper Chinese acupuncture/TCM (4 sessions in follicular phase, ginger tea twice daily, no cold foods, cupping, blood-building focus)

For the first time, my ovulation was strong, my BBT was stable (no zig-zag), and my luteal temps held steady.

Today, at 10 DPO, I got my first faint positive in over a year. Still super early so no idea of the outcome, but I finally implanted, which has been impossible for me until now.

Not advice, just sharing in case someone else with a thin lining is feeling dismissed. This was a natural cycle💛
