IVF&FET June/July cycle buddies

Hi, we are starting a FET this month after a bit of back and forth with the clinic. Start downreg on Fri with ET hopefully first week of July. Wondering if anyone else cycling around the same time? X

I'm really sorry about the bfns @UncleBrynsfishingtrip and @Lemongrass1. This is such a lottery and it's so unfair.

@Rovera12 I'm glad they were pleased with the results of your scan. It sounds like you got some good answers from the clinic too.

@SpyroC I'm also 32 but my ovaries seem to think they are older (low AMH and then this round very low fertilisation rate, although clinic say they can't tell for sure if that's the eggs or the sperm). It's good to know I'm not alone with it. Has anyone ever suggested a reason why to you? They've always just refused to comment with me, which I find hard because I end up blaming things I've done.

I've not been very good at trying not to symptom spot. On Sunday (7dp5dt) my stomach got incredibly bloated again, like after EC, and stupidly I googled it and read it's a good sign, and now I'm full of hope, even though I know it could just be the progesterone. I'm almost dreading testing on Thursday now, I'd rather carry on hoping!

I'm glad the scan went well @Rovera12 how many days have you been stimming for? Hopefully, I won't need to enquire about double trigger but if it fails I will. I've been reading more about the day 4-5 drop off and 50% does seem fairly common so I don't think we're abnormal there it's just that some people are lucky.

@RosettaR it's so frustrating isn't it!? I read "It Starts With an Egg" when they told me about my low AMH and followed some of the advice. For my second cycle I followed all of the advice and it has made no difference. 😬 I hate the thought that there's little I can do if this fails. As for a reason I have mild endometriosis so that could be why but they don't really know. Endo is another thing with more questions than answers. How many dpt do your clinic say to test? Mine say 12 which seem ages away.

@unclebrynsfishingtrip I'm sorry to hear that. It's understandable that you would feel that way about trying and not getting there. Be kind to yourself. 

@rovera12 thank you for sharing what your clinic said about day 3 and sperm quality. I'm glad you were able to get some answers.

@spyroc that's really interesting about 50% drop off rate after day 4-5. Thanks for sharing that.
My clinic say they test 14 days after egg collection.

I just had my day 13 scan and the follicles still need a little bit longer. I have to go back on Thursday with a view to collection on either Saturday or Monday. I had a pretty good AMH score for my age (39) so we were hopeful that we'd get a decent number of eggs. Today the nurse said that we have about 7 follicles measuring either 13 or 14mm at the moment, with a few that were a bit smaller which may be fine on Thursday. She assured me that was good, but I don't know if it is good or whether she was just saying that. Does anyone more experienced than I am know if this is ok? I appreciate it only takes one, but I'd still like to know.

Morning, thanks again for all the messages of strength and kindness. Unfortunately 1 embryo has 100% been passed. As 2 were transferred there is a slim chance, very slim it may be OK. As I'm still in pain and bleeding not holding out much hope. But whilst it's in there there's still a chance. Find out today if need to go for an early scan or have to wait until Monday as originally planned.

@SpyroC congrats on being PUPO - sending your positive thoughts and keeping everything crossed for you.

@Rovera12 fingers crossed for Wednesday. Not long now.

@Bestofyou1982, there's nothing more horrible than seeing the "products of conception" as the doctors call it. Sound so cold and clinical. Fingers and toes crossed the other embie is still there!

@SpyroC, the changes in diet/supplements take a good while to manifest, as a minimum, I'd say you need to give three months to see any difference, usually closer to a year. One also needs to be consistently "good" which for most people will just be too hard.

I've had a second scan today and bloods. My naughty ovary is further growing a follicle, so I think my cycle will be converted to natural (whatever that means)

@Glitterandunicorns out of curiosity what's your AMH score? I'm also 39 and was told mine is 5.9 one doctor said this is fine, another doctor said it's low and could have an impact? So hard when we get told different things

@kiza my AMH score was around 16.3 I think. Definitely 16 something. I'm not sure what the normal range is I'm afraid.

@bestofyou1982 I'm sorry to hear that. I really hope the second embie is fine.

Ladies, I've just been for my 2nd lining scan. Last week I was 6mm, this week I'm only at 7.2. They said they want me around the 10 mark.

Because of COVID they have sent me home and told me to continue as I am until they talk to a doctor and then they'll call me back and we can decide how to proceed.

I wonder if they will keep me on progynova for an extra week. But would that even be possible!?

Or if they will cancel this cycle 😣

@kiza different clinics use different measurements, which is really helpful of them!
Mine is 6.2 pmol/l by one clinic and 0.7 ng/ml by another. I was told 6.2 is fine for my age (I'm 40) and the same month I was told 0.7 is unusually low for my age.

I had to find a converter tool online somewhere...

@kiza @Heart4 I think part of the problem with AMH is it varies hugely so the "normal" ranges are massive. The normal range for my age (32) for example is anything between 4 and 58 pmol/l. Mine was 10.8, "normal but low" as the consultant described it. I think really it's all a bit of an unknown. Because of my AMH my clinic put me on a very high dose of stims but then I got 19 eggs so if anything I was over stimulated. Quality really is more important and no one seems to know whether AMH is an indicator of quality or not, I've been told both that it is and that it isn't by different consultants. So clear as mud realy ...

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip Sorry to hear BFN confirmed 😢 OTD is today for me and blood test showed hcg was completely negative so hopefully they’ll call me later to confirm I can stop the meds. Have a follow up next Mon and we will try another FET. Good luck with whatever you decide to do next xx

Yeah our consultant said that normal is 6 or above so my 5.9 is just below and due to me soon turning 40 it's on the lower side and could be the reason we have been struggling. But then I spoke to the nurse the following week and she said that number was fine for IVF.. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I think I'll wait until I see the IVF team as they're the experts!

I just want to say thank you to you all for sharing so much of your journey. I've been a lurker as I've been waiting for my IVF appointment and the clinic said I should receive the appointment letter next week, although didn't give any clues as to when the actual appointment would be 🤔

You ladies have educated me so much on IVF and have helped ease so many of my worries and questions. I'll definitely join another thread when I know I'll be starting the whole journey of needles and hormones becoming a way of life! 😆

@Janefx40 thank you for your kind words and from everyone else too. In all honesty I’m relieved that it was a straight BFN today, I’ve been through the heartache of borderline results and false hope before and this is far better to be able to move on from the cycle with a clean slate. I’m trying to keep hopeful for the next go and looking forwards to discussing with our specialist on Mon what we do next. xx

@RosettaR I feel they just have to say they are pleased to make me calm or feel ok. I don’t know if I agree with them.

@SpyroC I have been Stimmung for 6 days, I have another Scan tomoro. I am praying it gets better.... I will also ask to check my last cycle to compare how I responded to stims at this stage.

@Kiza I can’t tell what my amh is because I have never been tested. My nhs clinic don’t test for amh.

I am praying for a positive scan tomorrow as it’s my 2nd wedding anniversary today. 🥳🥳

@Lemongrass1 sorry to hear the negative has been confirmed. But understand exactly what you mean about relief with a definitive answer. There is so much not knowing.

That sounds fine @Rovera12 they don't even scan me until day 9. Both times my day 9 scan has been indicative of the number off eggs collected despite that I get a lot more grow to size in the final few days. In my case I think I have a maturity issue so I'd say slow and steady sounds good. Happy anniversary for tomorrow! X

It's hard to say @Glitterandunicorns as everyone is so different. In my case i stimmed for 12 days and was initially given enough meds for 13 so that must be their intention. I'm sure different clinics do things differently too. You just have to be guided by them.

@Jorun I first tweaked my diet back in September due to the endo. The hardcore ISWAG version for 4 months and watered down version for 6 so I'm confident it's had enough time unfortunately.

On the AMH discussion mine was 5 age 31! I was devastated by this news but it has been fine. Just means they give me the full dose of stims.

I finally started my second cycle! Had a scan this morning and confirmed I can go ahead. Just gave myself the first stimulation injection. I always get a rush of anxiety and excitement with the first injection. Once again I have a big follicle 16mm and a 10mm and some other smaller ones. They think the 10 is the 'real' dominant egg and the 16 is some sort of a leftover cyst from the previous cycle / stimms. Every scan is different for me and always makes me feel like a freak and a failure as my body does something new and unusual each month.

@Bestofyou1982 sorry that the loss of 1 is confirmed. Hard to still be slightly in limbo but hopefully there is a chance for number 2. Did they decide when to scan you?

@Lemongrass1 sorry that you had a negative but as you said an absolute negative is easier than a halfway house. I have had that before and it is a shit situation to be in.

@Kiza good luck with getting started. I intentionally didn't find out my AMH this time. I know that I'm 43 so it's not going to be good! And even if it is they'll still tell me that most of my eggs will be non viable. So I decided to give myself a break and not look at the results!!! They've got drugs to stimulate our ovaries so I figure I will let them worry about the details.

@Zillenial I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you as I've not been in that situation. Did they call you back after speaking with a Dr?

@Jorun I did natural cycle FET. They had to figure out when I was going to ovulate so I suppose it is more work for them!! But it seemed to be just fine.

@Heart4 well done on your first injection. I know what you mean about the anxiety and excitement, I was shaking loads for my first one!

Is anyone testing in the next few days? I'm so nervous about testing tomorrow! I'm meant to be working after but I think that will be a hard ask whatever the result.

I’m feeling really anxious about the next few weeks. Today we have the lining scan which should give an indication of when we should travel for the transfer. I am hoping that they will be happy, so we can move forward to the next stage. I cannot imagine how I’m going to feel on the OTD ( if we manage to get to that phase!). I have a long list of tasks to be finished before I go on vacation leave but I’m really struggling to concentrate, especially in the afternoons, I could sleep for 2-3 hours!
