Hi ladies,
Gosh they have been some difficult emotions for many over the last few days. Sending bug hugs to you all. IVF is such an emotional drain with so many unknowns, twists and turns to get our heads around.
Big welcome to all of this that have joined. And congrats to thos who are in the TWW

I did an early hime test that looked positive then did another that looked negative so just have myslef a bit of space fron group to try and not think about IVF and TWW for a while.
TWW ended today and I'm really pleased to have had a positive result confirmed by clinic this morning. But I was surprised to be advised to 'shield' (exact word used) and work from home until viability scan in two weeks time and have been given information as such to share with work. I work in a primary school where distancing is not possible and am over 35 do classed as older in pregnancy terms. May be different advice for different people, but thought I'd share in case helps with forward planning for anyone or seek advice from their clinic.

BeHereNowx32 · 13/07/2020 11:45

@Bestofyou1982 congrats. Lovely news. Hope you’re feeling ok. I didn’t expect them to advise shielding. But at least there is less worry that way.

@RosettaR it won’t affect your chances. But it does do horrible things to the body. My stomach was very sore during the night. Take care.

My OTD is in less than 2 days. Not sure I feel, except fed up of taking the meds lol. I’m so bloated (obv I will be happy to take them if it works).

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 13/07/2020 12:16

@Bestofyou1982
CONGATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Wohooooo! Amazing news that your clinic have confirmed positive. You must be relieved but also not counting down the seconds till the viability scan.

How many weeks after positive result do they do the scan? Xx

Lemongrass1 · 13/07/2020 12:32

@Bestofyou1982 that’s brilliant news!! Congratulations xxxx

I’ve done a test today at 3dp5dt which was obviously negative- doh!!

Morning, ladies!

Am I allowed to join in? Hope you're all well today.
I'm currently on CD7 of my medicated short cycle in preparation for FET.
This is my second FET, the first one ended in a miscarriage at 7 weeks. This time, I'm under a miscarriage consultant as well, his complex plan, so on a LOT of medications.
Petrified that this won't work :(

Lemongrass1 · 13/07/2020 12:51

@Jorun welcome!

@RosettaR try not to worry, I’m sure it won’t affect your chances x

@Parkandride any sign of AF?

Congratulations @Bestofyou1982 ! I work in a school too and I have been wandering what will happen if it works but figured I'll cross that bridge if I'm lucky enough to get to it.

What a pain! @RosettaR but I'm sure it won't effect anything. It's just impossible not to over think though isn't it.

Welcome @Jorun

I had another scan this morning and my follies have had a good growth spurt from 8-12! But 2 are in the small side. Looks like collection will be Wednesday eek!

Jorun · 13/07/2020 13:13

I'm quite interested in shielding advice. It turns out that from the 1st of August, the requirement to shield for people with suppressed immune system (which also includes pregnancy) will seize. In addition to my FET I will also be on steroids/hydrochychloroquine/intralipids. If this FET is successful (please please please let it stick!), I'd essentially have two risk factors. I also work in a hospital. With all that, my work is saying I'd still probably will have to be at work post 1st of August. Has anyone been told about the 1st of August thing?

Glitterandunicorns · 13/07/2020 14:10

Hi @jorun. Welcome! I haven't specifically asked about the 1st August guidance, but I have been told by my hospital that I should be shielding for four weeks (two weeks leading up to the treatment starting and two weeks or however long it takes until a transfer if I'm lucky enough to get that far).

I would say that the guidance from the Government relates to people with pre-existing medical conditions or "normal" pregnancy who have been required to shield since lockdown, and your current treatment and any guidance from your clinic should be considered as a separate thing entirely. So if you have been told by your clinic to shield, do so (and if they can provide you with any documentation to support this, share that with your manager).

In my workplace, pregnancy, adoption, fostering and infertility treatments including IVF are protected categories, which means that if you need time off for appointments, treatments or have illnesses resulting from or relating to these things, then your time off doesn't count towards triggers and you are granted the time off with no problems. I'm able to work from home. Is IVF treatment protected in your area of work? If so, this may offer another solution.

Glitterandunicorns · 13/07/2020 14:11

@jorun, sorry- forgot to say I'm so sorry for your previous loss. Thanks

Glitterandunicorns · 13/07/2020 14:12

@Bestofyou1982 congratulations! That's amazing news! I'm so pleased for you.

Janefx40 · 13/07/2020 14:55

@Bestofyou1982 congratulations! So pleased for you.

@Jorun welcome. Sorry for your previous loss. Not sure about shielding. If your clinic advise it I guess you will have to approach work and see what they say. Hopefully they will be understanding.

@Lemongrass1 doh! Hopefully you're not disappointed as you know it is just super early. I spend way too much time on the "line eyes" threads - that is a good replacement for early testing!!

@BeHereNowx32 2 days! Eeeeeekkk!

Janefx40 · 13/07/2020 14:56

@SpyroC good news on the follicles. Looks like Wednesday is another big day for the thread

BeHereNowx32 · 13/07/2020 15:01

@SpyroC good news for your scan. Very exciting to have ec soon. All the best!

@Janefx40 definitely eeek!!😱 can’t say I’m feeling much! Hope you’re ok x

Janefx40 · 13/07/2020 15:03

@BeHereNowx32 yes I'm ok thanks. I keep finding myself imagining how it will feel if it's negative. Can't quite allow myself to imagine the opposite. Hope you are ok

Xxx

BeHereNowx32 · 13/07/2020 15:06

@Janefx40 I know. 😞 I’m the same. When is your test day? X

Lemongrass1 · 13/07/2020 15:21

@SpyroC great news on the follicle growth spurt! 🤞 for a good result at EC.

@Janefx40 haha no I’m not disappointed in the results as it was too early but a bit annoyed with myself for opening the Pandora’s box of early testing! How are you doing? So far I’ve cleaned the house today and done some admin to distract myself but still finding time for google 🙄 Good idea on the line eyes thread!

@BeHereNowx32 not long to go 🤞🤞🤞🤞

BeHereNowx32 · 13/07/2020 15:24

@Lemongrass1 yes, keep filling your time with nice productive things instead of tests. But I’ve been symptom spotting since I left the hospital after transfer 😅😅 can’t say there are any symptoms now tho x

Jorun · 13/07/2020 15:25

@Glitterandunicorns, thanks for your advice. My clinic wasn't bothered if I shield or don't, but my miscarriage consultant wanted me to shield. Just read that they are stopping sick pay from the 1st of August as well :( can't afford to lose income (IVF is expensive!).

@Janefx40, but also imagine how you'd feel if it's a positive. I know exactly how you feel . I broke down during my first fet and tested on day 6 post transfer! I could not bare the wait!

Lemongrass1 · 13/07/2020 15:27

@BeHereNowx32 I am conscious of every twinge in my body at the moment 🤣 But haven’t had any symptoms apart from a pin head worth of old spotting a few hours after transfer. I’m sure I’d be worrying that AF was coming if I was having cramping though. No winning in this game. Need distractions!!

Bestofyou1982 · 13/07/2020 17:39

@Lemongrass1 that is very early to test. At least you know any positives moving forward aren't false positives.
@Janefx40 @BeHereNowx32 and other lovelies (I know I've missed people) the 2WW is a killer as the days seem to have extra hours in those 2 weeks.but each day is another step closer. Try and enjoy being PUPO. ( I say try as even with a positive test I still don't feel like I can enjoy it. Haha!)

@Jorun welcome and sorry to hear about your rocky road to get here. I was wondering about after August 1st also. I guess I'll find out 27th (if get to next scan). Last time we had EM before that point.
Anyone else spoken about what to do after August 1st?

@SpyroC great to hear your scan news sounds so positive.

Thanks for all of the congratulations on positive. Trying to remain positive in mind too. Count down to scan begins.
There are a lot of count downs in IVF it seems. Haha!

RosettaR · 14/07/2020 09:19

I'm feeling better, no idea really whether this was a stomach bug or just psychological. My clinic say people sometimes just seem to collapse after transfer as it's the end of so much work and stress to get that far. They don't think it will have impacted implantation so I can only pray they are right! From what I can tell implantation is a bit of a mystery - my clinic's line is that it's all up to the embryo.

@Jorun that's tough you might have to go back to work. I'm really lucky in that me and DH are both working from home currently so are able to decide what risks to take.

@SpyroC good luck with egg collection tomorrow!

@Lemongrass1 sorry about the bfn. I'm going to try to hold out until the day before the OTD, which would be next Wednesday. It's such a long time!

Jorun · 14/07/2020 10:12

@RosettaR, I've never been off, I'm a key worker at a hospital, so not had any time off throughout the pandemic.

I was wondering if anyone going through FET atm? It sounds like most of you girls are on the fresh cycle (good luck for egg collections, sounds like there will be quite a few this week! :)). I've never had a transfer on fresh, as we did PGS testing for our first round.

What are you all up to during the TWW? I'm thinking about activities which are safe but also take mind off it. I think I will probably end up gardening or ripping wallpaper (with a mask of course!). My last TWW was awful. I was off work for the whole time and my mind was just in constant overdrive.

Rovera12 · 14/07/2020 10:58

Hi ladies, how’s everyone doing ?
@jorun welcome to the group am so sorry to hear about your loss

@bestofyou1982 congratulations 🥳

@lemongrass1 that’s a bit early to test😁. It’s easier said than done, give it a few more days and try to keep yourself busy with other stuff.

@RosettaR glad you feel better today👍.

I have been quiet for a few days because I don’t know what was happening to me. I have been spotting since after day 5 of my period, hot flushes at night(very severe), headaches and tiredness.
I had my baseline scan today and the doctor said all was fine. My lining was about 2.7mm , no cysts no fluids. 6 follicles on the left and 15 on the right.

I have 2 fibroids which was there before my first cycle. One is still the same size and the other is slightly smaller now.

I Start my gonal F 150iu tonight, keeping my fingers crossed and being positive for this cycle.

I have asked for a blood test to check my progesterone, my clinic says they don’t practice that. I will go private to get dat checked a day before or after transfer .
I have also asked for a mock ET which they agreed to do on egg collection.

Please pardon me for this long write up, you ladies are the only ones who understands my situation. I needed to share my experience today with who totally understands.
I feel like there is so much I need to share and can’t help keeping to myself.
Yes I have a partner who is supportive but got no idea about IVF, no matter how much I explain to him.
Thank you all for listening/reading. I also feel flat in a way, maybe it could be the injections who knows? I cried during scan this morning and could not figure out why 😁😁.

Wishing you all a lovely and fruitful day. Xx

BeHereNowx32 · 14/07/2020 11:19

@Jorun I am doing FET. My OTD is tomorrow. I have been completely overthinking the whole TWW. Although, I am quite busy, I still can’t help it. I’m not feeling much atm. I get little things which could be symptoms, but could also be my imagination!
That’s good you have a plan. When is your transfer again?

@Rovera12 I was exactly the same during my first cycle. The side effects were so extreme! How are you feeling today? Good luck with the next stage. Hope you feel better once starting the new hormone x
