Hi, we are starting a FET this month after a bit of back and forth with the clinic. Start downreg on Fri with ET hopefully first week of July. Wondering if anyone else cycling around the same time? X

@Glitterandunicorns welcome. It can feel daunting starting IVF but it is ok once you get going. Groups like this can be really helpful.

I've never had any negative effects from the sedation they use. In fact I actually really enjoy the sedation!!! A few of us on here have said the same thing. I just have the most lovely sleep and wake up feeling relaxed. I was very nervous about sedation before the first time.

I have a bit of a bad tummy. It's mostly being bloated, having a few cramps, wind and needing the loo a lot. I'm not on any drugs yet so it isn't side effects. Now I'm panicking that I have Covid. No other symptoms at all. Please someone tell me I'm being nuts!

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 05/07/2020 07:26

@Janefx40
Bless you. This Covid stuff does make your mind do weird things. How are you otherwise?
Maybe your body just needs a day of chilling out and rest.

@Glitterandunicorns
I 😍 your name! Whatever they gave me at Egg Collection was amazing! It was all over with so quickly and you’ll feel a little groggy/strange afterwards but I managed go home half an hour afterwards. You’ll just need to plan a nice calm, quiet afternoon/evening. I went back to work the next day xx

RosettaR · 05/07/2020 07:43

@Nmvasey I think starting down reg on day 21 is more common but different clinics do it differently. I'm sure they know what they're doing. You could ask them why it's day
1 and about the bleed.

Welcome @Glitterandunicorns. Good luck!

@Janefx40 I'm sure it's not covid! Far more likely it's just a random upset stomach. It will pass.

The past few days I have been feeling so anxious about the whole thing. I think it's partly that I wasn't expecting to get this far or have such a good chance with so many follicles, and now I'm terrified of screwing it up somehow! I'm so scared the anxiety will reduce our chances of it working but if I think like that I just get more anxious! Any tips on staying calm?

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 05/07/2020 08:12

@RosettaR
Something that reassured me was when my clinic said ‘worry’ won’t stop IVF from working.’ Obviously you want to feel calmer but worry is going to happen.

I find distractions are good. We watched the children’s film Coco yesterday. It is beautiful 💗😢 it was nice to have two hours of not thinking about treatment.
Could you do something to distract yourself? Xx

BeHereNowx32 · 05/07/2020 08:13

@RosettaR have you tried the mindful ivf app? I used it last cycle, and just started again, and I do feel like it is helping. There are different categories, depending on your stage.

thefishthatcouldwish · 05/07/2020 08:13

Hi all can I please poke my head around the door and say hello?

Wednesday I had a phonecall from my clinic wanting to book me in for consent signing. We hadnt heard from clinic since start of lockdown. I had rang and was told to be patient. This was with a view to start donor IVF in August.

After another phonecall or two the clinic decided that I can start in July.

Got medication coming next week. Consent signing Friday but start my medication on Friday before the consent signing.

Feeling nervous but mostly excited. Well that's how I feel today.

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 05/07/2020 08:59

@BeHereNowx32
I’ve just downloaded the Mindful IVF app. It looks great. I’ll try my first meditation later xx

Janefx40 · 05/07/2020 10:13

Thanks Ladies

@thefishthatcouldwish welcome!

@RosettaR what I always say to people is don't worry about the worry!!! Yes people always say it's better to be relaxed but I think that is rubbish because honestly infertility and IVF is one of the most stressful things you can go through. I'd be amazed if any woman going through it is relaxed. And then we worry about the fact we are worrying!!! As "@UncleBrynsfishingtrip said worry isn't going to stop IVF working.

Sorry you feel this way tho. I have started the mindful IVF app too! Xxx

Glitterandunicorns · 05/07/2020 10:32

Hi @Janefx40. I'm sure it's not COVID-19. It's much more likely to be a random tummy bug. I hope you feel all better soon.

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip thank you so much for the reassurance! I had a nightmare HyCoSy, but I appreciate that that was without any painkillers.
Also, thank you for sharing what your clinic told you about worry not affecting the outcome of your IVF. I have to do a work thing right after my transfer (if we get that far) which is completely unavoidable but extremely stressful, and I was concerned about that affecting things. I'll crack on with mindfulness and meditation and relax as much as possible though.

@RosettaR thanks for the kind welcome!

@thefishthatcouldwish welcome! I'm new too! That's great that your clinic could start earlier than you anticipated! Best of luck!

Tarsette · 05/07/2020 15:38

@RosettaR Completely agree with the other ladies: worrying will never stop your follicles growing or an embryo implanting. That is all up to your body (not your mind) and a fair share of luck! I have actually decided to take this cycle easier than the previous ones. If I feel like drinking a glass of wine, I will. If I feel like skipping the Brazil nuts one day, I will. And I reckon this extra leeway I am giving myself will end up being beneficial! Let’s not be too hard on ourselves, this whole process is bad enough as it is...

gemmabissell · 05/07/2020 19:45

Hi

I have my 3rd FET coming up, (lining scan next week), I will be transferring a 5B blastocyst, Judy after some success stories really, not feeling confident at all.

Xxx

BeHereNowx32 · 05/07/2020 20:26

@gemmabissell hi! I had a successful cycle on my 4th transfer (embryo was a 3BB/ developed to a 3AB. It can happen, but I know how hard it is to believe it can. Wishing you all the best!

Glitterandunicorns · 05/07/2020 20:48

Hi @gemmabissell I'm sure it's completely normal to feel not confident about all this. I'm very early in my IVF journey, but from what I understand, 5B is a great score! Best of luck for your FET. Thanks

gemmabissell · 05/07/2020 20:49

Thank you i appreciate the positive stories xx

JessB7777 · 05/07/2020 21:35

Hi everyone, can I join you? I’m on day 9 of an ivf cycle with ABC.

For anyone who has had egg collection, do you think I’d be ok to stroll about 20 minutes back to the car afterwards? Or does the sedation make you feel really rough? Trying to work out parking in central London as seems better not to take public transport at the moment.

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 05/07/2020 21:56

@JessB7777
A warm welcome to the group 💗
You definitely be walking soon after the egg collection. It might be up to 45-1hour before you ready to get in car.
I was given biscuits and tea afterwards and they talk you through the next stage e.g when to start pessaries and oestrogen.

Janefx40 · 05/07/2020 21:56

Hi @JessB7777 welcome. Hope it's all going well for you. I probably wouldn't do a 20 minute walk afterwards. You may feel a bit tender and sore. You will have had sedation so you will need to be accompanied. If you can afford it, I would pay the congestion charge and get whoever is driving you to park/hang around nearby. Otherwise maybe take a cab from a reputable firm - of course there is some risk from that and the cost probably is more than paying congestion charge anyway.

Also don't eat pizza afterwards or bloaty foods!!! You can get a bit bloated from the procedure so you don't want to add to that.

I realise that all might sound a bit negative. It's not a bad procedure at all so nothing to worry about!

Good luck x

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 05/07/2020 21:57

@JessB7777
Just re read your message and yes you’ll be fine to walk for 20 mins. My clinic insisted someone was with me.

Janefx40 · 05/07/2020 21:58

Cross posted with @UncleBrynsfishingtrip who thinks the opposite. So there you go - we all experience it differently!!

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 05/07/2020 22:00

Ha! 🤣 so true @Janefx40 each person is sooo different and our bodies/clinics all vary hugely. Just take the advice of your clinic and plan for the worst case scenario.

Parkandride · 06/07/2020 09:42

Where is my period!!!!?? They never appear when you want them and vice versa. I want to get started with my FET. 3 days late now.

Raspberry tea drinkers, what is it like? I hate regular tea but don't mind a mint, or lemon & ginger - Is it more like that?

Also use the mindful ivf app, got to love some "fertile body, fertile mind!" DH despairs of it Grin

Congrats to those PUPO and nice to see some good scans

BuffyFanForever · 06/07/2020 10:14

Hi Guys,

I’ve had positives on home tests but now waiting for the clinic to call with blood test results....so so hopeful this time...but sending myself a bit crazy trying to work but can’t whilst waiting for this call!

SnarkWeek · 06/07/2020 12:28

Hi everyone,

That’s really exciting news Buffy don’t want to jinx anything by offering congrats too soon, but that’s fabulous!

Good luck to everyone this week, sounds like it’s going to be a busy one for a lot of us!

Had a scan this morning, they’re really happy with my follicles (ovaries are now so big they are touching- gargh!) so we’re going ahead with egg collection on Wednesday, just waiting for a call to tell me the details. My lining is looking a bit thin though (4.9) so it’s now unlikely that they’ll do a fresh transfer this month after all. I know that was the original plan, but it’s hard not to get your hopes up and I feel a bit depleted now. My lining has never been an issue before so I feel a bit blindsided by it. Trying to focus on egg collection now and not worry about anything else. This whole process is such a rollercoaster and I am a bloated hormonal mess right now!

Good luck tomorrow RosettaR - I’ll be sending good vibes your way Smile😊

BuffyFanForever · 06/07/2020 13:30

I’m going crazy they were supposed to ring between 11.30 and 12.3o and nothing. No one answering the phone. Absolutely no one to contact, hate this clinic so much!

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 06/07/2020 13:47

Sooooi I had my transfer this morning! Wohoooo! It went well. Only took 5 mins! I was in and out very quickly xx
