Just that really, I know it's a difficult time for so many people, but clinics shuttered just as DP finally agreed to get his semen analyisis done. My progesterone was normal, and I have regular periods, so I don't think Clomid would be an option for us. We've been trying for a year and a half, and I am 35 on Saturday.

If we do get a referral, and need IVF, how long will that take? So many questions?

Thanks

At the risk of throwing the cat among the pigeons @theotherfossilsister , have you heard of these guys for acupuncture?

albanystreetclinic.co.uk/

This is where I went pre lockdown (had been going for a year or so). They do late and weekend appointments, so I never needed to take any leave to go in (I'd stop in on my way back from Waverley at 7pm - worked a treat!).

LouScot · 21/08/2020 12:05

@theotherfossilsister, gcrm still have a bit of a backlog. I had initial consultation in June and still waiting for my consent appointment, but they said normally they don't have a waiting list.
I'd go with whichever acupuncture clinic you feel happiest with. You don't want to be tense or irritated with them and have negative energy if you know what I mean. I sometimes can't believe I'm taking negative energy seriously, but I really do think it can have an impact on our wellbeing.

@BeHereNowx32 I'd actually googled that clinic a while back, it's good to have a personal recommendation. Do you mind me asking rough price?

X

BambiOnIce80 · 21/08/2020 12:38

Hi @LouScot , if you mean the Albany clinic then I think it was about £38 for a 30 minute session, but they also do a 6 session discount if you're going through IVF which works out cheaper 👍🏻

I can't lay down doing nothing with pins in me for an hour, so 30 minutes was plenty for me! 📍😂 I did end up pregnant, but will never know if the acupuncture helped or not 🤔 It was nice to have someone to talk to about it all regularly, if nothing else.x

BeHereNowx32 · 21/08/2020 13:20

@theotherfossilsister we had ICSI through Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

@LouScot Spire don’t do actual ivf. But they do fertility tests. We had some scans, which were probably about £100 each.

@Daisz hope all is ok xx

Daisz · 21/08/2020 14:01

All went fine today with my scan. Due date 9thApril. Smile

BeHereNowx32 · 21/08/2020 14:12

@Daisz great news ❤️

LouScot · 21/08/2020 14:36

Great news @daisz x

BambiOnIce80 · 21/08/2020 14:41

Fantastic news @Daisz! 😍 Long may your bubble continue! 🤞🍀🤞🍀

Daisz · 21/08/2020 14:50

Thanks guys, it is a big relief, one less hurdle to go through!

theotherfossilsister · 21/08/2020 18:16

@Daisz Oh wonderful, what a massive relief that will be for you. A proper due date to plan towards. I can and can't imagine how amazing that must feel.

Thank you all for your suggestions, re: accupuncture, my instinct is to go with Jian, I just feel really awkward and guilty about cancelling the other lady, and also scared the receptionist will ask why, and I'll have to make up a lie (really rubbish at being assertive about things like this.

Had a bit of a cry on DP today, asking things like, what if I don't have a baby, will you leave me? Etc. He's so stressed by this, so it's hard, but we came up with a sort of plan. As I can't get AMH and HSG until we have the referral, and this will be six or seven months after his SA, I am going to go private for these tests. We will then see what SA says in October, and if either of these tests mean we cannot conceive naturally, or if AMH is really low (or is it high that's bad?) we'll go private because a year and a half is too long. If not then we will keep on trying naturally for a year, and we will buy an AVA bracelet - I thought they were gimmicks at first but it would give some peace of mind. If in August next year we still have no referral for IVF and no hope of one, and we have not had a miracle, we will go private then.

I'm not sure where we'd go private as Edinburgh isn't taking referrals for private treatment, maybe GCRM as they sound lovely. Did you find it really good, @LouScot?

@BeHereNowx32 thank you. I would love to be treated in Edinburgh because travelling to and fro sounds hard, especially as we have no car, but I also feel scared that it has to be sooner than Edinburgh can offer. If it wasn't for COVID we'd be on a waiting list by now, I reckon, rather than waiting to go on the first waiting list to just see someone.

@theotherfossilsister I hope you can figure things out. Such a stress for you and your husband. Hopefully things work out with GCRM.
Going private definitely speeds things up. But it obviously costs a lot. Hopefully private tests makes things go quicker for you. Good luck xx

Hey everyone! Sorry I have missed so much chat!

@Daisz congratulations!! Sorry I got my days muddled and though it was the wednesday!

Sorry to here so many of you are feeling frustrated. I feel your pain, it is so frustrating and you feel so powerless! Sending you all lots of love!

I am ok trying not to over analyse every little twinge. Wish I kept a journal during the first round as I cant remember if what I am feeling are symptoms or normal! Anyway I will keep you posted. xxxx

BeHereNowx32 · 23/08/2020 15:37

@RonRon1 hi! I felt that way too. Wish I kept a journal. But I definitely think you’re best not focusing on symptoms. Just each stage at a time. You’re doing so well!!! When is OTD?

Well, I am properly “on my period”. Which is a relief. I have a scan to make sure the sac isn’t there next Friday. And hopefully I can get a break from that place and scans!!

It’s likely that we won’t be doing FET for another 6 months or so. I will try to keep in touch.
I’ve already had people asking if I’m pregnant or thinking of another 🙄 need to come up with a good answer to them!
Xx

Daisz · 23/08/2020 16:44

Thank you @RonRon1, hopefully you will be celebrating soon as well. Fingers crossed for your bfp.🤞
I am so relieved for you @BeHereNowx32, you have been through so much you deserve for things to be over so that you can recover. I know what you mean about people constantly asking about having another child. I have just been telling people that I am passed it now, and that usually shuts them up. I can only imagine how shocked people are going to be when I finally tell them. Ideally I want to keep things quiet for as long as possible though.
I worked with someone who was constantly being asked when she was going to be having children, after she got married. Her response was that she and her husband liked watching television too much so had not got around to it. Around seven years later she announced that she had been doing ivf and they finally managed to have a little girl. I generally think people mean well, but they have no clue as to when to keep their mouth closed.x

RonRon1 · 24/08/2020 15:59

@beherenow32 I am glad u have a plan of action. I don't know why people fell the need to ask people these life questions! U just get married and it's like when are you having a baby etc

Can I ask advice tomorrow I am 7 days post 5 day transfer and am desperate to test... Should I wait!?! I am so nervous and excited...

BambiOnIce80 · 24/08/2020 18:31

Is it the blood test in 2 days time for you then @RonRon1? I think you need to do whatever is best for you. I didn't test last time until I got my beta result back because I couldn't cope with seeing yet another BFN (but when it was a BFP I pee'd on many, many sticks just to bury the hatchet! 😂). That said, waiting for that phone call was horrific. I think next time I'm going to collect my FMU in a clean universal container, go and get the bloods done and then test when we get home. That way I can be better prepared for that phone call (get any tears out of the way and have relevant questions ready to go)... not that I think about it much or anything! 😬

So relieved to hear that the physical side of things are on their way to being over @BeHereNowx32 ❤️ Sounds like your plan is shaping up too 👍

I deployed pretty much the same tactic as your colleague @Daisz. Nearly everyone we know would think that we don't want kids and would be surprised if we ever had a baby. I prefer it that way. It's a lie, but it's better than the constant (and inappropriate! 🙄) questions. How are the pregnancy symptoms coming along?

I didn't fancy the travel to Glasgow either @theotherfossilsister, but I think I'd reconsider that if we'd been starting out in these strange covid times. It can't hurt looking at GCRM and finding out what they have to say. Good luck 🍀

RonRon1 · 24/08/2020 20:38

@BambiOnIce80 I laughed out loud there as I absolutely over think. I am due the blood test on Thursday morning. I don't think I can cope with another test waiting for the line that has never came! I just hope this time it is positive news. x

Daisz · 25/08/2020 08:22

@RonRon1 not long until Thursday, wishing you luck🍀

BeHereNowx32 · 26/08/2020 10:16

@RonRon1 good luck for tomorrow. Waiting for the results is the worst. But you’re nearly there xxx

RonRon1 · 27/08/2020 07:26

Thanks guys I am So nervous x

kikisparks · 27/08/2020 07:55

@RonRon1 good luck for today!

BambiOnIce80 · 27/08/2020 08:13

Keeping everything crossed for you @RonRon1 🤞🍀🤞🍀

RonRon1 · 27/08/2020 13:28

I didn't think this day would ever happen for me guys but the nurse just confirmed I am pregnant!! I did two test this morning both positive and the blood level was 85!!! I am speechless.

I did a test on Tuesday and it was negative so it had been a surprise. I would never do a test before the date they say again as we were so low yesterday.

Thank u to all of u for being so supportive. 7 weeks scan on the 17th Smile

willithappen · 27/08/2020 13:33

@RonRon1 omg so happy for you! Congratulations

Daisz · 27/08/2020 13:38

Congratulations. That is fantastic news!♥️♥️
