Just that really, I know it's a difficult time for so many people, but clinics shuttered just as DP finally agreed to get his semen analyisis done. My progesterone was normal, and I have regular periods, so I don't think Clomid would be an option for us. We've been trying for a year and a half, and I am 35 on Saturday.

If we do get a referral, and need IVF, how long will that take? So many questions?

Thanks

How was everyone’s weekend? We ended up at the beach at 5:30pm. Ended up a nice day.

@Daisz how are you feeling? X

RonRon1 · 27/07/2020 08:59

Morning ladies, hope you all had a good weekend. I am day 27 of my cycle so just waiting on period so we can start round 2...

Just wanted to say good luck @Daisz I am sure you blood test in soon. Thinking positively for you!

Daisz · 27/07/2020 09:39

Thank you @BeHereNowx32 and @RonRon1. Slowly going a bit mad, wish the weather was a bit better. Yes I have my test on Friday which still feels ages away. Hope your af arrives soon @RonRon1.x

RonRon1 · 27/07/2020 09:44

@Daisz Friday is ages away!!! I thought it was today for some reason. Have u thought about a sneeky test or are u gonna be patient? 🤔 Easier said that done.

RonRon1 · 27/07/2020 09:46

Friday will be here before you know itt 😁

BeHereNowx32 · 27/07/2020 11:22

@RonRon1 nearly there! ☺️☺️☺️ Will be nice to get started after that long wait.

@Daisz oh it really drags doesn’t it?! Are you working, or anything to take your mind off things?

I had some bleeding the other night. I completely panicked ☹️ It was horrible. The nurse said that it’s likely to be the pesseries causing it, and since then, I’ve just had TINY bleeding. So, hoping it’s all ok. Tempted to buy a pregnancy test, although I’m not sure how it will help. My scan in a week on Wednesday x

Daisz · 27/07/2020 12:28

@BeHereNowx32 and @RonRon1 Well I have just got back from a long walk despite the weather, so at least that is the morning done away with. It is all the up and down emotions that is the most difficult and no I am not working either, but don't really think that would help much, as I have so much I could do to help distract myself, but it is not doing any good really.

My last cycle I did test, but that was over three years ago. I got a faint Bfp two days before beta on cheap internet tests. I have a few left over from then, however they are over a year out of date.lol. I think if I were to test, it would be unlikely to come back as a false positive, but they may not be as sensitive now, so I can very well get a false negative, but then there would still be hope. The mind games we do to ourselves!lol.

I would not worry too much about the blood @BeHereNowx32 it could be from implantation. On my last cycle I started bleeding at 9 weeks. I took myself down to the early pregnancy unit and got a scan, everything was fine. The nurse explained how common slight bleeding is in early pregnancy, with everything settling down and the embryo starting to bury deeper down, it is perfectly normal to have some spotting, but if you have never seen it before it can be a little alarming.x

theotherfossilsister · 27/07/2020 13:17

Thanks all for lovely messages.

Just reading your updates and really rooting for you @daisz

@beherenow can't believe how stressful the bleeding must be, but I've read on so many posts here about it being totally ok.

My AF is due Thursday if my cycle is normal, although GPs receptionist who is lovely said that it might take a bit to come right after trauma. My beginning July one was freakily light. Holding out stupid hope's anyway that I ovd when by the sea with dp and we have a miracle.

It's really interesting about cats. Olives knew one of our friends was pregnant before she told us. Weirdly he's often super cuddly and all over me between seven and ten days dpo then stops aprubtly and prefers dp. I do wonder if maybe I'm conceiving and not implanting quire often. I don't know what to do if this is the case, but the Cimzia for my RA could well help, as inflammation can stop implantation.

Trying to be positive and remember that if I get through this period and August one we can resume trying and that sperm analysis is possible in September. I'm optimistic about the Cimzia. Yesterday I was able to climb Arthur's seat without pain.

If any of you want to go for walks around Edinburgh to take your mind of ttc then I'd love to come with you. Hoping to lose weight now I am on new drugs.

Hi all, it's so lovely to see a new message on here. Everyone is so supportive.

@theotherfossilsister, I'd love to go walking at some point. I'm very (very) cautious about social distancing though so probably best to wait a bit for my own peace of mind.

@Daisz not long till test date. Everything crossed for you.

@BeHereNowx32 sorry to hear about the anxiety caused by the bleed. @Daisz's post is hopefully a little reassuring?

I'm feeling a bit argh today. Period started (day 23, early!, usually around 26 days) so of course I'm half convinced it's my last ever period blah blah blah. Been on phone to gp trying to book in a smear (had letter to book just before lockdown) was told they're not doing them but then when I mentioned public health Scotland say they are for urgent recalls then postponed people they've found me an appointment..

BeHereNowx32 · 27/07/2020 19:09

@Daisz thank you. Yeah, it does seem to be common. I was so so worried. Hoping bleeding stays away now.
One day closer to your test day.

@theotherfossilsister hopefully your period comes ok. I remember when mine’s was 9 day’s late when my grandad passed away. I had started ttc so that was really unfair 🙄🙄
Anyway, we will be positive and you will be in your ivf journey soon!!!

@LouScot that’s good that you got an appointment. Hopefully it was just a fluke month, and nothing to worry about. But always best to get checked.

I felt soo rubbish tonight. Just realised that I haven’t drank any water!! I don’t know why I find it so hard?!

I’m having a lazy day tomorrow 😊 then think we are to get a couple day’s of sun xx

LouScot · 27/07/2020 21:26

Ooh yes, I saw the weather at my parents' earlier and saw Sean was predicting some sun! (as an aside, he's got such a nice garden!)
Feeling a bit more proactive now I've booked smear as clinic need up to date one for ivf. Period worries unrelated, but my cycle is definitely getting closer together - that happens doesn't it? Then it'll get further apart??

This is really dumb, and I'm a blooming scientist, but my cycle is usually around 26 days. Last month was a day or 2 later, and this one a day or 2 early. I'm wondering if it wasn't actually late last month but just took longer for blood to be expelled?! So this one would actually be the same length?!

Obviously over analysing everything 😂

Hope everyone is well x

Daisz · 28/07/2020 08:02

Thank you @LouScot and @theotherfossilsister. Appreciating everyone's kind wishes. I have to admit @RonRon1 I caved this morning and did a sneaky test. Today is day 6. I have a super douper faint second line. That little bit of hope shall get me through to beta hopefully. At least the sun is out this morning, hope you all have a great day!Smile

BeHereNowx32 · 28/07/2020 08:39

@Daisz yay! ( Saying this quietly for now, but good news 🤗) x

RonRon1 · 28/07/2020 08:58

That is wonderful wonderful news 😍

@theotherfossilsister I would love to go a walk but maybe in a few weeks once my treatment is done as I am just so nervous I am gonna get a temperature and not allowed in the hospital. Iknow its so unlikely but it would be just my luck lol

Xxx

Daisz · 28/07/2020 09:33

@BeHereNowx32 and @RonRon1. Thanks guys. Not getting carried away until I get those numbers, but it has certainly given me a lift!Smile

BambiOnIce80 · 28/07/2020 10:43

Ooooh, tentative congratulations @Daisz! 🤞🍀🤞🍀 Keeping everything crossed for a good beta result for you on Friday 🤞🤞🤞

I haven't got a date for my FET yet @theotherfossilsister, so less worried about the covid stuff at the moment (I'm sure I will be when it comes round though! 🤒). PM me if you fancy a socially distanced walk.x

Sorry to hear you had a scare @BeHereNowx32 💐 Sounds like it's good news with the bleeding having stopped 🤞 Will be thinking of you when your scan comes around.x

@LouScot my periods are sometimes a day or two late or early. My understanding was that it depends on which ovary is doing the ovulating that month. My left follicle seems to sometimes ov a little bit earlier than the right one (and vice versa), thus the difference in cycle lengths every now and then. Good work on getting your smear sorted out 👍

Daisz · 28/07/2020 15:00

Thank you @Bambionice80. I really hope things get moving for you soon.♥️

ally99101 · 29/07/2020 19:15

Hi all

Glad to hear things are moving along for some of you.

Thought I'd give a quick update as some info that might help others. Hycosy done last week, consultation this afternoon, we're going with unmedicated IUI (at GCRM).

Have been told there's approx 2 month backlog to get nurse consent appointment and have just found out today that prices for sperm at GCRM have skyrocketed, so what was already going to be expensive just got even moreso. Feeling stressed is an understatement.

Good luck to everyone who's waiting!

LouScot · 29/07/2020 20:34

@ally99101 I'm using Gcrm too - single, donor sperm and had a call from a nurse earlier this week to say I was added to list for Consents but long backlog :-( I asked for up to date list of their donors and they only had 2 available, but the info isn't as detailed as European Sperm Bank. I think they're still much cheaper than ESB though. I'm going to use ESB I think, but price is ridiculous!!

theotherfossilsister · 30/07/2020 15:24

@Bambionice I will definitely pm you about the walk, also would love to go on a walk with you when you feel it's safe @ronron

My period came one day early, so I guess back to normal. Sad as this is cycle twenty. I think SA starts again late August and is by appointment only. I am really hoping GP can get us an appointment our with fertile week. (Ridiculous really as it's unlikely month twenty will make a difference.) Made the stupid mistake of going onto the April babies thread and so many people being trying six weeks or something. The injustice!

We are having regular sex, blood tests said I ovulate (I would like another day twenty one bloods to make sure though) and my periods are regular, so desperate now for an answer. Also dreading the referral taking ages. We were meant to get the SA in March and need it before we can get the referral. Maybe now the wait will be more like six months than three for initial appointment, then longer for tests on tubes amh, etc, then longer for treatment. Do you think this is likely? I'm thirty five so two years would put me at thirty seven.

Anyone know if we can get a private sa before end of August? I am having a desperate raging it's-not-fair kind of day. I just want a baby. Why must it be so hard?

OP posts:
LouScot · 30/07/2020 16:44

Oh @theotherfossilsister it's not fair! I don't have any practical help in terms of where you'd get a SA but I had amh tests at gcrm in Glasgow with not a particularly long wait (they do have long wait for consent form appointments now though) . Bloods came back within a week. Think costs were around 400-500 but that included consultation as I'm going to be using them. Apologies if you've already explored private clinics.

Feel free to rant to us whenever you need xx

LouScot · 30/07/2020 16:45

Ps I'm up for a walk too when it's safe x

BeHereNowx32 · 30/07/2020 17:44

@theotherfossilsister it’s so unfair. It’s already stressful and the wait will make it worse.

When we started ttc 7 of my coworkers fell pregnant and my sis in law. It was awful.
Do spire do SA? We had some fertility tests with them before ivf.

BeHereNowx32 · 30/07/2020 17:44

@Daisz good luck tomorrow x

Daisz · 30/07/2020 17:57

@BeHereNowx32 Thank you. As it is supposed to be a heatwave tomorrow, I maybe on the beach when I get my results.Smilex

@theotherfossilsister and @LouScot. I remember the feeling well, it has been a long road to get to where I am today. You will both get there, but it is frustrating.
