Just that really, I know it's a difficult time for so many people, but clinics shuttered just as DP finally agreed to get his semen analyisis done. My progesterone was normal, and I have regular periods, so I don't think Clomid would be an option for us. We've been trying for a year and a half, and I am 35 on Saturday.

If we do get a referral, and need IVF, how long will that take? So many questions?

Thanks

@ally99101 can you ask for gas and air?? I get it for my transfers, and they’re always fine for me to use it. I hope it goes ok!!

@RonRon1 14 days isn’t too long! It does drag when you’re waiting for the next stage though 😆 Hope period comes in time
I am ok, thanks. Just feeling tired. Not many symptoms, which I know is normal. Just really looking forward to my 7 week scan, and hoping all is ok.

@unknownscot all the best when you start medication, and egg collection etc. It does feel better once you can get things started

Scirocco · 19/07/2020 14:31

Has anyone else had no contact at all from their clinic?

LouScot · 19/07/2020 14:32

@theotherfossilsister so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend and that things have been tough. Sounds like you've needed the time by the sea to try to take some time for yourself and focus on health and compassion - how are you feeling now?

Lou x

Hi all. @BeHereNowx32 hope you are settling in nicely to your pregnancy? although I suspect you will still be in shock and wanting time to go quick so that you can get your seven week scan.

My fet is on Wednesday. I went to the supermarket this morning to stock up on implantation friendly foods. I got a couple of pineapples and beetroot, pomegranate juice organic whole milk and eggs, lots of fish and steak, seeds, need to try and find some brazil nuts from somewhere. Any other suggestions I would be grateful for? That is pretty much what I ate last time round but if there is anything else that I am missing please let me know.

@theotherfossilsister welcome back. Sorry to hear you have had such a bad time. The whole point of you taking time away was for you to heal and move forward, sorry that you have had more bad news to process instead.

Glad to hear things are progressing for the majority of people. Hope we can all join @BeHereNowx32 in more joyous BFP's.🤞

BeHereNowx32 · 19/07/2020 17:06

@theotherfossilsister so sorry. I missed your message. What a stressful time you’ve had. Definitely chat here when you need to. I hope you and your DH can do things which help you cope with everything going in.

@Daisz great news! Wow you are so well prepared!! I ate Brazil nuts, but a lot of takeaways alongside that!! Xx

BambiOnIce80 · 22/07/2020 07:36

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been through such a terrible time whilst you've been away @theotherfossilsister 💙 Sounds like it's put things into perspective for you - be kind to yourself 💐

How are you feeling 1 week into pregnancy @BeHereNowx32? I hope the queasiness is keeping away 🤞

Sending you positivity for today @Daisz 💓 And enjoy your breakfast glass of red! 🍷😁

BeHereNowx32 · 22/07/2020 07:44

@BambiOnIce80 just feeling tired so far. Had a headache yesterday, which turned into sickness. But really, I’m not feeling much!!
How are you?

@Daisz good luck for today, and until test day 🤞 x

Daisz · 22/07/2020 08:04

Thank you @Daisz and @BeHereNowx32. It does not seem real yet. Sure reality will set in soon. Hopefully I shall be joining you soon in the pregnancy symptoms chat. Will update later!

BeHereNowx32 · 22/07/2020 11:39

@Daisz remember not to look into symptoms too much. I’m still not really feeling anything (but obviously we will both continue to do it!!) wishing you all the luck and love in the world.

BambiOnIce80 · 22/07/2020 13:05

Very glad to hear that it's going so far, so good in your camp @BeHereNowx32 😊 I think you're right about the symptom spotting - impossible not to do and impossible to know if it's worked or not! In January I was absolutely convinced that AF was on her way - the way I was feeling was identical. No IB, boobs had stopped being tender and other little, almost imperceptible signs that AF was on her way... and then we got the BFP, so go figure! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm OK thanks, just carrying on with waiting and waiting 😏 It has made me reevaluate a couple of things though - primarily if we can do a double transfer when we get to FET. We had the option for our fresh cycle in January (because we were self funded), but opted to only put one back as a kind of 'test case' (I'm a scientist - I can't help myself! 🤓). If we'd been having the FET now like we were supposed to, then I think we'd be just going for the one again, but all this uncertainty around waiting lists and whether we will or won't end up going into lock down has got us thinking... should we go for it and transfer 2??🤔 If we go with the worst case scenario of not getting our FET until early next year, then that's a 6ish month waiting list for a FET. I'll be 41 in the spring so, even if it does work, I'd be closer to 42 by the time the bambino was born... which for me pretty much rules out the chance of trying a second FET for a sibling (disclaimer : I absolutely don't think that people over 42 shouldn't have IVF! It just wouldn't be right for my circumstances).... So, I'm wondering about trying for a double transfer with the hope that 1) it'll double our chances of a BFP and possibly a live birth 2) we'd have a chance of completing our family in one fell swoop. But I don't know what's for the best 🔮 I work in the NHS, so I'm only too aware of the risks from twin (and singleton, for that matter!) pregnancies, but I really am leaning towards doing it 🤔🤔🤔

What would you ladies do in these circumstances? It might be a moot point due to our FET's being NHS funded, but I'd hope I could argue that because of my age and the fact that we paid to make the embryos that we should be allowed 🤔

Daisz · 22/07/2020 13:24

All done. Love your comment at 1139 @BeHereNowx32, my transfer was complete at 11.37.30secs am. Went really smoothly and quickly, just need to wait!🤞

BeHereNowx32 · 22/07/2020 15:04

@Daisz good news. Now time to relax

@BambiOnIce80 I would definitely consider 2, if I had a time limit in mind. Speak to the doctors and see what they think. X

Daisz · 22/07/2020 16:26

@BeHereNowx32 thank you. A quick question did you continue with the raspberry tea after fet? Not sure if I should. I am in bed just now with my cat, can't get anymore relaxing than that, but it won't last long so grabbing it while I can.

@bambionice80 I was told right from the beginning that I could only transfer 1 embryo at a time, due to my cervix being a little on the short side, so technically I have never had to consider that desicion. Well I am 42 now, but agree I would never consider doing a fresh cycle at my age, but total get why people do. But I shall definitely be using my last embryo, then I shall be able to close this chapter of my life. If I had a lot left over then that would be different, but being the last one, I kind of feel sorry for it, especially today now that it is all alone without the others for company. (I know I am being silly!) I suppose I really do want a sibling for my dd. I sort of grew up alone and I wanted different for my dd but I fully understand that it may not work out like that. I also think it depends on family and friends, myself and my dp don't have a big family support that includes young cousins etc and also very few friends have young children, so I guess dd is really going to feel it if she does end up an only child. I suppose everybody's situation is different, ultimately do you feel you could cope with twins if that is what you end up having with a double transfer? I think if you have the support and the answer is yes then that is probably your answer!

BambiOnIce80 · 22/07/2020 17:14

Thanks so much for both of your thoughts @BeHereNowx32 and @Daisz ❤️

@Daisz I'm an only of only's myself, so get where you're coming from! I didn't mind though - but I think I'd like the option to have more than one (if I was that lucky 🔮). I definitely wouldn't be considering it if we were in 'normal' waiting list times, but we aren't 😔 I worked out that if we assume that the new waiting time for a FET is 6ish months, then it would take us 3 years to get through our frosties if we transferred 1 after another! 🤯 I'd be 43 by that time and, like you, I wouldn't consider a fresh cycle at that point. So I guess maybe I want to do the double transfers so that if they're all BFN's I can still possibly squeeze in another fresh cycle? 🤔 So many things depend on "if this happens, then we'd do this - but then if that happend, we'd do that" - it's mind boggling! 🤯 On the family help front, there'd be none (so maybe I'm being massively naive about how much child care would cost us! 💸). My family are closest... but a 6.5 hour drive away 😬

Thanks so much for being here ladies 💖 Typing this stuff out is helping me get my thoughts in order.x

BeHereNowx32 · 22/07/2020 17:32

@Daisz no. I think raspberry leaf tea can cause contractions and you should avoid at the start of pregnancy. I finished my pomegranate juice, and then didn’t do anything special after that. I only managed to rest day of transfer too.

Got a sore tummy today. Can’t decide if I should go out and about tomorrow. Which would be a lot of walking.... and make me feel worse. X

BeHereNowx32 · 22/07/2020 17:45

@BambiOnIce80 lots of think about. You will make the right decision for you and your DH.

Daisz · 22/07/2020 18:50

@BambiOnIce80 I know clinics are concerned with twin pregnancies in general, not just with the added risks in pregnancy, but also with the mental health of the mother after delivery, due to the added stress caring for two babies can cause. But there is no harm in talking it over with the clinic just to get their thoughts. Yes it is good to get things off your chest.Smile

Daisz · 22/07/2020 22:25

@BeHereNowx32 Thanks for the advice. I am drinking homemade beetroot juice and pomegranate juice and water. The beetroot juice is very unappealing, but did it last time. Hope you feel better soon. Yes things are definitely different this time around, not much time to relax, but it has certainly not hampered you in anyway.Smile

LouScot · 22/07/2020 23:03

Glad you've had the transfer @Daisz, hope the next few weeks go well and that you'll soon be able to share the same happy news as @BeHereNowx32

@bambionice80 I've read a few papers about implantation rates and double transfers (despite not yet having any embryos let alone 2, because that's what us geeks do 🤓😂). I think if one was a much lower quality I'd probably just do one as I'd worry about the lower quality one having a negative effect on implantation of the other, but if they were similar then yes, I'd go for both. You're healthy, educated and going to do everything you possibly can for your wee baby/babies so although there's always risks with multiple births I'm sure you'd do everything you could to mitigate those risks.

LouScot · 22/07/2020 23:04

@Daisz hope the beetroot juice isn't too awful Grin x

BambiOnIce80 · 23/07/2020 07:39

I'd stay in today if I had the choice @BeHereNowx32 - it's miserable out there! ☔😓

That's exactly what I'm worried about @Daisz. Talking about it last night, if we manage to have the FET in the early autumn then we'll only put one back. If it's any later than that then we'll be seriously thinking about doing a double. We've got 5 to get through (if they all survive the defrost) and I'm not getting any younger ⌚ I hope you managed to chill out with your cat yesterday 🐱 Mine wouldn't leave me alone just before I got my BFP - he was practically trying to shove his head up my nose, constantly sniffing around my face! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Might pimp him out as a 'medical detection cat' if there's ever a HPT shortage due to the lockdown! 😂

Thank you @LouScot 💖 Our frosties are all similar grades, so don't think one would interfere with the implantation of the other 🤞 How are things progressing at your end? Did the clinic get back to you about the donors?x

RonRon1 · 23/07/2020 08:32

@theotherfossilsister I am really sorry to hear about ur loss. Sending love.

@BambiOnIce80 oh that's a hard one. I know someone who had a Double transfer and ended up with... Triplets and one of them split. Smile

@Daisz I am really rooting for you xxxx

Daisz · 23/07/2020 16:46

Thank you @LouScot and @RonRon1, really appreciate the positive messages, and can only hope for the same for you shortly.

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 yes my cat was the same last time. I have just woken up from a nap still absolutely exhausted. Since yesterday I have felt so tierd and drained, I just can't remember feeling like this before. Maybe all the stresses of the last few months have caught up with me, or my age is letting me down finally, but goodness I am whacked. @BeHereNowx32 did you manage to get out for a bit? I took advantage of the break in the weather and went for a short walk just after midday, at least it stopped raining then. I feel for you @Bambionice80 I would be the same if I still had a few embryos left, it is not easy whatever you decide.

BeHereNowx32 · 23/07/2020 19:36

@BambiOnIce80 @Daisz had to take our wee dog out for a walk in that rain! But it was nice when the sun came out. Went in the garden and out for another walk. Just short ones.

@Daisz how are you feeling today?? I’ve been having quite low mood. It’s must be hormones. I’m so tired now too. Think I’ll be sleeping by 8pm. Hope you’re able to relax a bit x

Daisz · 23/07/2020 21:06

@BeHereNowx32 yeah it turned out lovely in the end. I feel much better now that I have had a meal. I have been feeling much the same as you since yesterday. If I did not know any better and if it was not so early I would be symptom spotting, but realistically it must be the progesterone. Hope you enjoy your early night.zzzzz.
