Ovulation test positive today and just had a massive row with my OH and now can't dtd 😥😥😥. Don't know what to do to be honest. Am so angry with him, take all these drugs and then this 😡😡

Loziliz75 · 07/01/2020 17:25

@Sylva123 I’m sorry for your bereavement, sending lots of love to you and your family 💗

@JadeS174 sorry your scan didn’t go as planned, hopefully it’s early and it develops as time goes on, if not hopefully increasing the dosage will do the trick 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@dragonfly1978 I’m sorry that you had an argument especially on a positive opk day try and dtd today and try and forget about last night. Sometimes we don’t realise the effect it has on our OH, we have this forum to vent and have everyone having the same feelings but sometimes OH’s don’t have that source and don’t talk to their friends about how the process is affecting them 💙 even though they only have to ‘cum’ it’s a massive pressure sometimes when both of you want a pregnancy. Hope your feeling ok today 💗 xxx

dragonfly1978 · 07/01/2020 17:44

@Loziliz75 thank you, we made up and managed to dtd last night in the end. I think you are right, we argued about something really random (the dog chewing something!) but I think at the heard of it he was feeling the pressure. We will hopefully dtd again tonight and tomorrow and then fingers crossed 🤞. Where are you in your cycle??

Loziliz75 · 07/01/2020 17:49

@dragonfly1978 Ahh that’s good news, I’m glad you made up last night 💙 fingers crossed you get to dtd next couple of days.
Im CD12 of cycle 3 clomid. Doing opk’s but no luck so far, trying to keep positive. Xxx

dragonfly1978 · 07/01/2020 17:51

@Loziliz75 I am cd 14 today on cycle 2, got my peak yesterday and still strong today. I am sure you will get yours soon, I didn't ovulate until day 17 last month

Loziliz75 · 07/01/2020 17:55

@dragonfly1978 I didn’t get a positive opk last month but trying to keep positive, although not doing a good job at the minute 🤦🏽‍♀️ Xx

Sylva123 · 07/01/2020 18:01

@dragonfly1978 me and my OH argue every month around ovulation without fail and we never used to argue very much. I think it's all this pressure rumbling beneath the surface and I always end up saying the same as you - I've taken all these drugs and had all these tests and now this!
I don't know the answer, it all feels so intense in the moment, but SO glad you made up and dtd. It's hard on relationships isn't it. Glad you're back in track x

Sylva123 · 07/01/2020 18:04

@Loziliz75 @LaurenN23 thank you both.

Lauren I hope the appt at the private clinic goes well. I met a few consultants from private clinics at the Fertility Show a few months back and they were so nice and seemed like they'd offer way more solutions than the normal treatment on the NHS. They kind of frowned when I told them what the NHS had offered us!
Let us know how it goes. It'll be our next step as well. X

LottieDot · 07/01/2020 19:31

@LaurenN23 I hope the meeting with the private clinic goes well. We'll be starting IVF in the summer if Clomid doesn't work and to be honest I'm pretty terrified. I think I'm also depressed, the comment you made about not being happy for an extended period of time- I feel the same way. Often I feel like I'm faking being happy, but I'm not truly feeling it if that makes any sense. Sorry I'm not sure what to suggest but just know that's its certainly not only you who feels this way. I hope the doctor is helpful for you.

@Loziliz75 hope the dr helps too when you go and see them. And let us know how reflexology is! Any luck with the OPKs yet? Mine are still very negative! Have been getting some EWCM though so I hope they turn positive soon!

@dragonfly1978 gald you made up, it's such a stressful high pressure time.

@JadeS174 sorry the scan wasnt as hoped, what CD are you?

I find it crazy how little awareness for infertility and especially the mental health side of infertility there is in the wider world. I had no idea until it became a regular part of my life. I think sometimes my friends and family just dont understand the emotions that go with it all.

JadeS174 · 07/01/2020 20:37

@Loziliz75 thank you xx

@LottieDot I'm CD13 today, so yesterday was CD12 but last month I didn't get a positive ovulation result until CD20. So she said maybe it's just too early but I doubt it. Xx

Loziliz75 · 07/01/2020 20:50

@LottieDot I’ve had no success on the opks yet, but still only CD 12 that’s what I keep saying to myself there’s still time yet 👏🏼 Reflexology is booked for the 16th January so I’m hoping that helps me too, I’m skeptical but intrigued by it!! Doctors is this Friday so we will see what they say or suggest, I just need someone to talk to that I can break down in front of and they are gunna judge me for it and not biased at all. I agree that there isn’t enough support or awareness between the link about mental health and infertility and especially when so many Drs are dishing out clomid known as the ‘clomid crazy’ and not really following up on how your feeling whilst on it!
@JadeS174 hopefully it will be positive soon, we are similar CD’s! Xxx

LottieDot · 07/01/2020 20:59

@JadeS174 it could easily be too early! Are they not going to do anymore scans?

@loziliz75 yeah it's definitely still early -im not expecting a positive for a good few days yet- just hope I get one! Yeah my moods seem to be so much worse on clomid, I go from sobbing to angry and back again in like 5 minutes- especially when AF was due! Hopefully the Dr has some good advice/steps for you.

Danielle2306 · 08/01/2020 13:04

Hi new here. Just about to take my 5th month of clomid . not feeling to great lately. Getting down about it all. Would be great to talk to others who going through the same thing x

LaurenN23 · 08/01/2020 14:20

@sylva123 @LottieDot thank you both! We booked in yesterday and they have given us an appt on 11 Feb. We have decided to go with a clinic that offer good success rates for IVF incase we need to stay on for that. They were super helpful on the phone and although it's going to be expensive, I feel like it's the right thing to make sure I'm making the most out of every single round of clomid. I have 4 more left after this month.

For anyone interested the prices were:
£225 for consultation
£200 for womens bloods (if they aren't happy with the ones the dr took on NHS)
£195 for internal follicle scan
£175 for semen analysis (not sure if we need this one yet so will go with their advice.

Hope everyone is okay

LaurenN23 · 08/01/2020 14:54

Also, I've found a great podcast called Big Fat Negative which is all about infertility and I've had a read of this which I think you all might enjoy too www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.refinery29.com/amp/en-gb/money-diary-audiologist

Danielle2306 · 08/01/2020 15:02

Hi guys. Silly question here. Do you class spotting as day one of cycle when taking clomid or wait for the real period to show. I'm worried I'm taking my clomid of on wrong date

Sylva123 · 08/01/2020 15:05

Thanks for sharing the priced @LaurenN23! Will you do cycle monitoring with them during the clomid and will that then mean a couple of hundred each time you go for a scan? I'm thinking about trying private but not sure I can afford it.

Sylva123 · 08/01/2020 15:06

@Danielle2306 it's when the real period comes. My period came on around 8pm one Sunday night and they told me to count the Monday as day 1. The first day of full flow. Other people might have been told different things tho - advice varies so much!

Sylva123 · 08/01/2020 15:07

Also @LaurenN23 thanks for the podcast and article! Really appreciate the recommendations

Danielle2306 · 08/01/2020 15:11

Thank you. See I'm sure my consuntlant said first sign of period but I just never know if should count spotting. X

LaurenN23 · 08/01/2020 15:13

@Danielle2306 day 1 is first day of full flow from what I've been told too :)

@Sylva123 I won't know for sure how much they will charge per cycle of treatment until I have my appt but I think so yes!! Eye watering but feel that I will always look back to my next 4 cycles with the nhs wondering if they were missing something that could have been avoided!

Danielle2306 · 08/01/2020 15:15

Thank you :) x

Sylva123 · 08/01/2020 15:29

@LaurenN23 I know what you mean. And it's a lot cheaper than IVF if it works, so it's worth it. Then you know u did all u could

Loziliz75 · 08/01/2020 17:02

@Danielle2306 I got advised too on the first day of full flow, normally I spot the day before a tiny bit then come on full whack the next day so I’ve always took it when I’ve fully come on. Welcome by the way 😂 xxx

LottieDot · 08/01/2020 20:47

@Danielle2306 welcome! Day 1 is first day of full flow- so if you need to use a tampon/pad that would be day 1.

@LaurenN23 thanks for the info! 200 per scan - wow, I had 5 last month Shock . Although as you say if it makes the difference between clomid working or needing IVF it will be worth it. We are very lucky that we get 3 nhs funded rounds of IVF where we live and qualify for, I'm too scared to do anything privately incase it jeapodardises that funding. I'm assuming you would be self funding IVF?
