I hope you don't mind me posting. I was on the thread at the beginning, plus previous versions, and can see that a lot of you are having a really tough time. Flowers

I never really felt like any of this 'applied' to me somehow - we'd been referred for IVF, and I'd managed to blag some Clomid while we were waiting! So I loved seeing people's success stories, and really appreciated the support of others going through the same, but totally couldn't imagine me getting my BFP.

However, I did, on my second round of 50mg - this with me having PCOS with abnormal hormonal levels and no natural period for 10 months previously! Plus DH's sperm was sub-optimal, and I have 1 partially blocked tube.

Not intended to gloat at all, but I wanted to offer some hope. Also to say, although Clomid is a strong drug, I credit its success also to the fact that I started sticking to a low-GI/sugar diet and had myo-inositol at the recommended dose during this time. If you feel like this is outside of your control, I definitely suggest trying these things.

Sorry for the extra long post! Massive baby dust to you all and any questions, please ask. I was the most hopeless, so it can happen!

xx

I know the feeling 😞 I had spotting sometimes bright red from 8DPO. Side effects are so bad I don’t know if I can do another round of this.

Does anyone know if it’s okay to take a months break from it?

Thanks for the positive post @Chichz congratulations!

@JandL2020 I'm sure it's fine to take a break if you need it.

It's gone quiet on here, how is everyone?

Hello ladies!
I was wondering if I could ask you clomid experts a quick question Smile
When you were prescribed clomid was this during your initial fertility app? Or do you need further tests / apps before they prescribe it?
Thanks!!
X

Hi @foreverhopeful67, they suspected I wasn't ovulating at my first appt from the initial tests I'd had done, but they wanted to do a HyCoSe to check my tubes weren't blocked and a normal ultrasound, so that took a while. I think it was about 5 months between my 1st appt and the one where they prescribed the Clomid. All the NHS authorities seem to work differently though, so they might be more efficient where you are!

I went to my GP in August and was prescribed clomid by hospital fertility clinic in December. Within that time lots of delays so I did go private for initial investigations. But once my GP had all the information the referral to wait at hospital was only a few weeks. So it can be quick.

Day 22 today spotting started last night ☹️ So that’s me out again. I’m not taking clomid again after this it’s really not great for me.

Oh @JandL2020 I'm sorry spotting started. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's not AF. Have you mentioned the spotting to the clinic?

@ForeverHopeful67 I had quite a few tests done before being prescribed clomid as I do ovulate but ny cycles became more irregular. We're unexplained though so I think they wanted to try all the tests first.

I mentioned it to the nurse she said it is happens again to ring her (I haven’t) not a lot they can do about it. Hopefully I can bring my appointment forward cos it’s not until May

Thanks for all the feedback everyone lots of different experiences! From my initial paperwork from the clinic it looks like I've had most of the tests but we'll se whether they want to do more... my appointment is two weeks Tuesday so I'll keep you posted.

@JandL2020 sorry that your spotting has started again Sad maybe it would be worth calling the nurse just to see what she says? No harm in it! Do you think you'll be able to bring your app forwards?xx

@LottieDot AF showed yesterday 😥😥. I had three days where you could definitely see a line and even my husband could. I am never using clear blue tests again! What an emotional roller coaster!

Ah @dragonfly1978 I'm so sorry. Not that it makes it better but it sounds like a chemical with those clear lines. Fingers crossed for next cycle xx

Ah hello @LottieDot! Thanks so much for responding. I wasn't sure if a new one had been made as this is nearly full but couldn't see one? I've been reading back over the old ones trying to get to grips with things. What's your backstory if you don't mind me asking?

@GinIsTheOnlyTonic oh yeah a new one willbe needed soon! Weve been ttc our first for almost 2 years, all test have come back normal but I was given clomid due to lengthening cycles, I'm on my 5th of 6 cycles of clomid. I believe I had a chemical pregnancy in January but not 100% sure. We're both in our late 20s and otherwise healthy so its been a bit of shock having to deal with this. What about you? X

@LottieDot been TTC no 2 since Sept 2015. I found out last July I have stage 4 endometriosis and my tubes are damaged which is most likely the reason behind my infertility. Surgeon said I'd only get pg with IVF but fertility consultant did an HSG and decided to give me Clomid Hmm. Not holding out much hope that it will work but it's worth a shot hey! What cycle day are you on currently? Do you know if you've been ovulating?
