Anyone waiting to start IVF/FET in 2020?

As it says on the title really! Wondering if anyone else twiddling their thumbs and wanted to keep each other company?
Me- 40, was TTC for 4 years (unexplained infertility)- short protocol in 2018- fresh transfer resulted in an ectopic pregnancy followed by a successful FET later in the year. We have 8 frosties which we hope to use in another FET starting Feb/March 2020. First consultation next month. Feels so daunting to be starting the process again! X

Congrats @Minster2012 on being pupo :) that sounds like a good quality embie! Just out of curiosity, why couldn’t you go for a walk? Are your activities restricted? I’m wondering what this clinic will have me do after ET...

Mischali · 08/02/2020 06:21

Oh by the way when is your otd, and will you be testing early? Smile you can probably see I can’t wait for everyone’s testing to start!

Mischali · 08/02/2020 07:03

Hm ok so today Dr only counted 7 follies right, 2 left. My left ovary was damaged in endo surgery many years ago so even when it makes follies we never get eggs from it. He said we should wait until Tuesday for ER just to make sure as many follies as possible can grow/catch up. I’m a bit deflated; on Thursday he said we’re looking at 12/13 and today we’re only looking at 9. I’m expecting about 5 eggs retrieved and hopefully 2 fertilized if I go off my previous ivf percentages. We’ll see.

CritterTamer · 08/02/2020 07:44

@mischali - wow that's an early scan for a Saturday morning! My clinic doesn't start until 8 save doesn't scan at weekends at all. 9 follicles is still great and you could result get more than 5 eggs. I had 12 follies at my last cycle and they told me to expect 7 or 8 eggs but we got 12, and 11 fertilised.
@Minster2012 glad the thaw and transfer went well. Did you know the grade of the embryo beforehand or did it change during/after the thaw? Now to keep safe during the dreaded TWW!
AFM i'm now 8dpo with no sign of AF so far so I'm really happy. My LP was only ever 10 days unless I was on acupuncture to lengthen it so looks like things are returning to normal finally which gives me hope that my body will be ready for the FET 😊

CritterTamer · 08/02/2020 07:45

That's should have said keep sane during the TWW not safe!

Minster2012 · 08/02/2020 08:13

Morning!
@crittertamer we didn’t know the grading before the thaw no we were just told they had made it to day 5 blasts & look good to freeze (as we were only freezing). I don’t think it is that that good having looked a bit but it was our better one & doing what it should have when thawed so hey 🤷‍♀️.
It sounds fantastic about for you, all heading the right way!! Will be you soon!

@mischali Our OTD is 21st, we may only test a day or so early no more & that’s only so I wouldn’t have to face ppl on the OTD, the day before (MIL, SIS & nephew) whereas maybe on that weds I have a free day. I think your numbers sound good for your follies. The clinic said chill out for the rest of the day (though we did go out for lunch) then from today act normal but no strenuous exercise no lifting or twisting. They even said no dog walking yesterday but very much encouraged today

Mischali · 08/02/2020 11:07

@CritterTamer hehe my appointment was 8:15 and I only went in at about 8:30... I think I’m about an hour before your timezone. But there were a lot of patients before me so I think they opened at 7. My appointment on Thursday was at 7:30 am. My dr works also 7 days a week. Today was so busy they had patients in a second waiting room!

@Minster2012 yeyy I will also be testing on that same day, if I do have a transfer; it will amount to 10 dpo/ Days past retrieval and I’m testing out the trigger from 9days past retrieval. This will be our last ivf, maybe an fet if we have any and if this cycle doesn’t work, but after this we’re done ttc. So I might as well test a lot!

Oh for anybody doing a retrieval and transfer after a trigger shot: I did the math... if you do a 250 mcg hcg shot at 8pm, 36hr before retrieval (which amounts to a 6500 iu shot), with a half-life of 30 hours, then on the 12th day after the hcg shot at 2am the levels should be 12,7 iu. That amounts to 2am on 10 dpo/7 days past 3 day transfer/ 5 days past 5 day transfer.

Minster2012 · 08/02/2020 12:19

@Mischali so are you testing on 21st or 20th/19th? I won’t be sure yet depends how I get through this week & onto next... I def don’t want to test before valentines or on. I don’t want to potentially ruin it & have toddler gymnastics in the morning that day so have to face ppl. Unless of course we see proper blood and it’s game over. Just need to stay busy!

Mischali · 09/02/2020 04:54

@Minster2012 from 20-24th daily to see trigger fade and to see if a line returns. 24th will be otd. I know I’m counting my chicks before they hatch, I haven’t even done ER yet!

Rubyredwren · 09/02/2020 08:18

@Tryin4no2 wishing you good news for your fertilised egg this week
@BOBSS how are you coping with the 2WW
@Minster2012 congrats on being PUPO and hope the 2WW is treating you well!
@Mischali good luck for retrieval on Tuesday!

I’ve not been online for a few days. Was on my way to the hospital for a scan last week when my dog walker called to say my dog had got onto the road as she was putting her in the van, been clipped by a car and bolted into dense underscrub and they couldn’t find her!
I turned up at my scan in tears, scan showed I hadn’t ovulated yet but they didn’t want to give me trigger shot because I was so stressed. Then made my way over to search for the dog that afternoon/evening without success. Luckily someone found her the next morning and she was fine!
Meanwhile I got my peak fertility on OPK Friday morning and I’m booked in for transfer next Thursday!

Minster2012 · 09/02/2020 08:25

@rubyredwren oh no that’s awful but I take it your dog is ok now? Good that you have your date and sorted to look forwards to! I’d have been mega stressed too, currently listening to the wind thinking I’d rather not be walking dogs today but no doubt will have to!

@Mischali I don’t think I could do that to myself with the trigger that’s some planning too! I’d just want to know a line was real!

Hope everyone else is good, I managed a party type thing last night not drinking without raising suspicion which is good

Rubyredwren · 09/02/2020 13:18

@Minster2012 yes, the dog is all okay now but it was a very stressful day/night.
Here’s hoping we are all very calm and stress free over the coming weeks! 🤞🏽✌🏽❤️

CritterTamer · 09/02/2020 14:16

@rubyredwren - glad your dog is ok - that must have been terrifying for you - I'd be besides myself if that happened to one of my dogs!

I've managed an 8 day LP this cycle - I guess that's better than 4 days but hardly great so will try progesterone this next cycle and then hoping to have endo scratch late march and transfer in April - you guys are all going to have your results by then - I'm way behind but rooting for you all xxx

BOBSS · 10/02/2020 05:35

@CritterTamer great to know that you LP is returning to normal..will be better in next cycle..😊

Mischali · 10/02/2020 06:39

@Rubyredwren what a shock, so glad your dog is ok! All the best with Thursday, glad that the stress didn’t mess your cycle up. X
@BOBBS glad to hear you are doing ok and catching up on your movies/series Smile that’s a good way of keeping your mind off things!
@Tryin4no2 have you heard anything more? Good luck hun.
@CritterTamer that is already a huge improvement.
@Minster2012 that’s exactly why I’m going to test out the trigger, to make sure a line is not from leftover trigger. I have trust issues with hpts lol. How are you doing stress wise?

So yesterday my stomach/ovaries was so incredibly sore I could barely walk & incredibly bloated. I did wear tight jeans though. Today I can’t really feel ovary pain anymore and now I’m worried that I might have ovulated yesterday. I’m going for a counseling session this morning and the nurse at the clinic is apparently only available to talk afterwards. So I’ll have to phone in later to ask. But have taken all my meds as I should have, including cetrotide so Idk.

Minster2012 · 10/02/2020 09:57

@Mischali I’m sure it’s fine it’s just your body playing tricks on you! And tight jeans are never great during this process!! Is it ET today? If so good luck!

Mischali · 10/02/2020 11:31

@Minster2012 Retrieval tomorrow and I’m going crazy with anxiety

Tryin4no2 · 10/02/2020 15:31

Thanks @Rubyredwren, and so sorry to hear about all of the worry with your dog - really glad all ok now.

@Minster2012 wishing you lots of luck with the implantation stage!!

Thanks @Mischali - my one embie was a bit slow on day 4 but made a comeback and got to day 5 blastocyst - just had my transfer ... will be thinking of you tomorrow. It’s such a stressful time but just try to look after yourself and remember you are in their hands. With your numbers I’m sure ER will go well. X

BOBSS · 10/02/2020 17:01

@Mischali best wishes for tomorrow..will pray for u..u may try watching any comedy/romantic movie..n distract ur mind..have ur fav food..etc..😊😊

@Tryin4no2 ur embie is a fighter..just got proved..will be lucky for u 😊😊

Tryin4no2 · 11/02/2020 08:11

Thanks v much @BOBSS! Keeping my fingers crossed for us all! X

Mischali · 11/02/2020 10:08

@Tryin4no2 I’m so glad your embie made it to blast! Pregnancy rates with blasts are really good!

Can’t wait for everyone’s test results.

So I’m home from retrieval and tucked into bed. The sedation wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, woke up easily. Just a bit groggy and sore. Well, we got way more eggs than what we saw on Saturday’s ultrasound! 16 eggs collected. 9 are mature, 3 are 12 hrs behind and 4 are 24hrs behind.
Of the 9 mature, all are morphologically normal. 4 will be fertilized with ivf and 5 with icsi to improve fertilization rates (I think it’s called split fertilization or something?) they will keep an eye on the other eggs to see if they develop some more and then might attempt to fertilize them too. I am truly surprised and astonished.
In 2016, 4 years younger, I only got 9 egg cells (none from my left ovary), 5 of which were morphologically abnormal and couldn’t be fertilized. They also didn’t attempt icsi which apparently improves fertilization rates. The embryologist at that time did say to me my egg cells might have been abnormal due to my protocol which was COMPLETELY different from what I had now? But it was at a different clinic. And medicine has probably advanced since then.
All I know is with my age, surgery scarred ovaries, low amh and low expectations I am over the moon.
Now to wait for the fertilization report in the next 2 days!

Mischali · 11/02/2020 10:14

Ironically enough, in 2016 I did everything “right” and obsessed about every fertility health related aspect for years beforehand. This time I just didn’t have time to cook all the right foods all the time, dh and I still vaped/smoked till end November, I couldn’t get to gym as much as I wanted, some days I was so stressed & nauseous I couldn’t eat, work stress has been insane... so I didn’t follow the “ideal ivf prep rules” nearly as well as I wanted to.
Now we just have to see if we do get any blasts.

Tryin4no2 · 11/02/2020 10:15

Well done @Mischali!! Those are great results for your ER! Now for some R &R!
