Anyone waiting to start IVF/FET in 2020?

As it says on the title really! Wondering if anyone else twiddling their thumbs and wanted to keep each other company?
Me- 40, was TTC for 4 years (unexplained infertility)- short protocol in 2018- fresh transfer resulted in an ectopic pregnancy followed by a successful FET later in the year. We have 8 frosties which we hope to use in another FET starting Feb/March 2020. First consultation next month. Feels so daunting to be starting the process again! X

Also; anyone have side effects from their meds? Which meds? I’m dizzy and extremely moody. Although that might just be general ivf moodiness! And only on day 3 of meds.

BeHereNowx32 · 02/02/2020 10:02

@Mischali that’s a shame. I can see it’s a sensitive thing to post. I’m ok with it, and have done so in the past.
My first cycle I had lots of hot flushes and headaches while down regg. I don’t really remember much else. Oh except when I was in the contraceptive pill. My mood swings were awful!! I think that was worse than anything else. Hormones can be horrendous. X

Minster2012 · 02/02/2020 12:08

@Mischali I got lots of headaches from the down reg meds I hated those too

Hi @CritterTamer , @Minister2012 @Mischali my OTD is on 16 Feb.. I have taken leave till then n trying to relax as much as possible..but in between getting anxious n all.. thankfully this time DH has taken leave too..n supporting as best as he can..:) so happy with that..

Any tips/ideas to make tww better??

Wishing everyone bfps to all d ladies here😘😊💕

Mischali · 02/02/2020 15:45

@BOBBS that’s a long wait, good luck hun. Will you be doing hpts at all or wait for the beta? I think staying busy especially doing things you like; whether it’s cooking/baking, going for a walk, tea with friends, going for a mani/pedi... get out of the house if you can.

Tww is also going to be a challenge for me... I’m going to test out trigger 20-24 Feb; my beta is 24 Feb (that’s IF all goes to plan and we transfer a day 5 embryo etc). Guess what my husband informed me he is going spearfishing 21-24 Feb. it’s going to be hard since no-one else knows we’re doing ivf so I’ll have no-one to talk to and will most likely have to do my hpts secretly at my parents’ house (I stay there with my toddler when husband goes spearfishing).

Minster2012 · 02/02/2020 17:07

@BOBSS that seems longer than TWW? Didn’t you transfer on 30th? That’s an awfully long time? When we did last FET to my best friend as host surrogate we waited the full TWW so it was definitely right, but I couldn’t do longer!

@Mischali we only have hpt our clinic don’t do blood tests even if you get positive hpt they just book you for a scan, they stopped doing blood tests when they said ppl didn’t want to go in just for that! But they won’t take a result sooner than TWW from their tests so it’s right though

Minster2012 · 02/02/2020 17:08

@BOBSS I was going to say I’m planning on keeping busy, meeting friends, getting out the house did our TWW!

Mischali · 02/02/2020 17:30

@Minster2012 gotcha. My clinic does 48h apart repeat betas, I’m glad because I would go crazy if I had to wait for the ultrasound lol!

Minster2012 · 02/02/2020 18:11

@Mischali yeah I can totally understand why bloods & repeat bloods would be reassuring. I think I would prefer it but no choice & seeing as my friend was also coming from 1.5hours away it certainly helped us before...even for us we in theory live about 10 miles away from the clinic but rush hours/traffic and general nightmare traffic & horrific parking means it usually takes an hour to get each way so it’s more convenient (& if I got a good result I’d test every day for ages anyway 😂)!

Tryin4no2 · 02/02/2020 20:25

Good luck @BOBSS. I haven’t had IVF before now, but a lot of 2WW’s while TTC - and my only advice is try not to symptom spot and stay off google if you can- it makes me crazy!! Keeping busy sounds like a very good idea. @Mischali sorry to hear about the dizziness and moodiness - I have the latter but not sure if that’s drug related..!

Rubyredwren · 02/02/2020 22:23

@Mischali I hadn’t even thought about sex alongside this cycle. They didn’t say anything about intercourse but I better check just in case!

Maliha82 · 03/02/2020 02:08

Hi everyone im a newbie. 37 yrs with POF going to use DE from London egg bank. Bit nervous. I'm at the London Womens Clinic and have a really nice Doctor. Have my follow up consultation appt soon and should be having my 1st transfer in March fingers crossed. Im currently on ellest duet which has given me some side affects but nothing too bad. Good luck to you all.

Minster2012 · 03/02/2020 19:25

Hi @Maliha82! Welcome I think you’ll be with some of the other ladies here, my transfer on Friday and I’m already going crazy trying to count days down 🤦🏼‍♀️

Tryin4no2 · 03/02/2020 20:57

Welcome @Maliha82! Good luck @Minster2012! Had scan today, not many follicles but apparently a decent size/maturity so I am due to have egg retrieval on Wednesday (have to do another injection at midnight tonight... ) so tired! Not feeling that optimistic given the low number of follicles.... but no going back now....

CritterTamer · 03/02/2020 21:39

@Maliha82 - welcome 😊
@tryin4no2 - how many follies do you have? Good luck with trigger shot tonight - I found it so nerve wracking to do!

Tryin4no2 · 04/02/2020 00:16

Thanks @CritterTamer! Just done it - glad it’s done (I’m not that keen on needles... lol) only 4 at the right size - a couple of smaller ones - I have low AMH so it’s not a huge surprise - just doesn’t leave a lot of room for error...

Rubyredwren · 04/02/2020 06:18

@Tryin4no2 All it takes is one. Good luck 😊

@Maliha82 Welcome!

Mischali · 04/02/2020 10:25

Hi @Maliha82 :)

@Minster2012 wow good luck! How many are you transferring again?

@Tryin4no2 I only had 2 blastocysts last time, one worked and resulted in my ds. It’s good news so far that those follies look decent. Almost retrieval time hun!

I’m so anxious and frustrated and irritable & crying at the drop of a hat. Less than 3 weeks to go. Pleeaaassseee let it go by fast Sad

Mischali · 04/02/2020 10:25

*3 weeks before beta

Rubyredwren · 04/02/2020 13:26

Just had my second scan. One follicle at 17mm, a second at 12mm and a third that regressed to 10mm (apparently that’s normal). There were 2 follicles at my last scan. Lining is 8.2mm
I got a flashing smiley on my OPK this morning so waiting for my solid smiley.
If I don’t have a surge by Thursday they said they might give me something to induce ovulation. Natural cycle feels very different to last time!
Fingers crossed for a transfer next week but they couldn’t give me a date.

Minster2012 · 04/02/2020 14:21

@Mischali we are transferring one, we have 4 embryos in total in freezer, 3 x day 5s & one day 3 from the 2 days 3s that resulted in our DS. If we had twins goodness it would be good but we’d definitely have to give our big young dog away 😔 so only one!

As I’ve been ill recently I’ve had lots of eye appointments which has resulted in having to ask family to help look after my son & we couldn’t get him into nursery for our ET day on Friday we were really worried as no one knows about IVF & we wouldn’t really have any more excuses....thankfully on way back from eye appointment this morning we got a message from nursery to say they can have him all day so we can still hide it! Thank god I was really worried someone might start asking questions, I think my mum is already suspicious

Mischali · 05/02/2020 06:25

@Rubyredwren it sounds like you are almost ready to ovulate! Are they transferring 3 or 5 days after O?

@Minster2012 ugh it sucks to have to keep ivf a secret, it’s such a huge thing to deal with. We are also not telling anyone (except our best friends) and I’m already stressing about what we’re going to do the day of egg retrieval. I have to be at the hospital at 6am to be admitted. It’s an hour’s drive away from my son’s school, which only opens at the very earliest, at 6:30. Tomorrow at my scan I’m going to ask if my husband can come to deposit sperm (on that day) only after dropping our son at school. Which means I’ll have to drive home by myself after ER and having sedation (and I saw 2 ladies at the clinic completely unconscious, strapped to hospital beds 😭😭 I’m so scared they were ladies who had ER!). Just ANOTHER thing to stress about! I will have to take my 3yo along to my day 9 internal scan tomorrow Confused because again it’s too early in the morning for him to be at school & my husband has to catch a flight for work. But there’s no way he can come along on the day of egg and sperm collection!!

Minster2012 · 05/02/2020 07:54

@Mischali that doesn’t sound good, I could have driven after EC, but I didn’t have full sedation, did you ask what the other ladies had done? Hopefully not that then! I know exactly what you mean, don’t worry our 18month old came to my scan last week & he’s got to come to my progesterone blood test tomorrow morning, we just can’t get extra cover. I’ve had 2 eye appointments this week Monday & yesterday so no favours or excuses in one week left!!

CritterTamer · 05/02/2020 08:33

@Mischali my clinic insists that someone comes with you to drive home after EC - no driving for 24 hours after the sedation. I definitely wasn't with it again until the next morning - try to get something in place to get yourself home afterwards just in case this is the same at your clinic xxx

BeHereNowx32 · 05/02/2020 08:36

@Mischali I wasn’t allowed to drive either, and wouldn’t have felt comfortable doing so (although I’m not a confident driver anyway). I helped to walk out to the car by nurse. Then straight to bed! I hope you get something sorted.
I did tell a lot of people about the ivf. Although most people didn’t know when we were actually going through it. I really needed to support.
