As it says on the title really! Wondering if anyone else twiddling their thumbs and wanted to keep each other company?
Me- 40, was TTC for 4 years (unexplained infertility)- short protocol in 2018- fresh transfer resulted in an ectopic pregnancy followed by a successful FET later in the year. We have 8 frosties which we hope to use in another FET starting Feb/March 2020. First consultation next month. Feels so daunting to be starting the process again! X

I need suggestions please... :(
I really need to find a way to de-stress other than going to the gym because I don’t have time for it atm. My freaking hair has started falling out in clumps. Last time it happened was a few years ago when my grandfather was dying and we went to see him daily to help feed him etc, that was extremely stressful so my stress hormones are clearly sky high again. I’m going to feel so guilty if ivf gets messed up because of this but I have no idea what to do.

Mischali · 28/01/2020 20:46

And I’m struggling to eat, feel nauseous all the time, so my healthy exercise and eating plans are out the window and that makes me even more anxious Confused

CritterTamer · 28/01/2020 20:53

@Mischali - I think most clinics don't count day 1 if AF arrives after 3pm. Yes we discussed doing a medicated cycle if my cycles haven't settled down to something normal by the time we are looking to start in April ready for a transfer in early May. To be honest I think I'll opt for a medicated cycle bite anyway as I know my lining isn't great unless I'm having acupuncture so if feel more confident about getting a good lining on a medicated cycle toom she said if my LP is still super short they'll just start the progesterone earlier and didn't seem to think it would be a problem.
Are you sure to start in the next couple of days then? Are you in a short protocol? I'm getting impatient (and nervous) already now - going to the clinic today made it ask seen a bit more real 😊

CritterTamer · 28/01/2020 20:57

@Mischali just saw your other posts - I'm so sorry your feeling so stressed out. Have you considered trying yoga? You need to make a little time but 20-30 minutes per day, or even every other day can make a huge difference, and you can do it at home. I practiced fertility yoga daily whilst going through add leading up to our last IVF cycle and it was extremely beneficial, both physically and emotionally. You could also try the headspace app for mindfulness and guided meditation.

Minster2012 · 28/01/2020 21:05

@Mischali I would also recommend yoga or colouring or something called mandala pieces to make random artwork?

Rubyredwren · 28/01/2020 21:51

@Mischali no good that you are feeling stressed! I find that the headspace and calm app are both good. I usually use an essential oil diffuser with some lavender or clary sage and do a 10 - 15 minute session in the morning or evening.
Yoga but I don’t have as much time for it as I would like.
Accupuncture works for me and my acupuncturist has used ear seeds on me. They last a few days and she tells me to press on them when I’m feeling stressed.

Mischali · 29/01/2020 06:31

Thank you so much everyone for the kind advice, I am getting the apps, oils and will get some YouTube yoga videos for when I don’t have time to go out to gym. I have a severe reaction to acupuncture so won’t do that again but everything else sounds lovely!

Yep so because Af started in the evening yesterday, today counts as cd1. I’m getting a scan and my meds on Friday morning. Retrieval should be in 13 days then.

@CritterTamer that’s great news that you have a timeline to start working with!

@BOBBS that is fantastic news, all the best with your FET tomorrow, will be thinking of you all day and can’t wait to hear all about it!

@Minster2012 hope you are feeling better and better every day and good luck with your scan!

Sending good thoughts to everyone x

Mercy87 · 29/01/2020 07:30

Thanks @Lemongrass1 @BeHereNowx32 @CritterTamer @Rubyredwren and @mischali for the reassurance - hopefully I've got a fair reason to stay positive then (although after all the activity of injections the 'waiting for nothing' feels a bit odd)

@mischali I'm really sorry to hear you're stressed - I second the yoga advice and though it may sound silly, I find jigsaws really helpful as a mindful/escapism activity - something you can do for 10 mins or 2 hours and all consuming! Grin

@BOBSS that's fantastic news about tomorrow - everything crossed for you!

2020 is the year for us all ladies - we've got this! 👊

BeHereNowx32 · 29/01/2020 07:37

@Mischali I used a ivf mindful app before bed. It was brilliant. It has a track for each ivf stage (most are free). I always fell asleep listening to it. Take care.

@BOBSS great news. All the best for transfer

Thank you to others for the well wishes x

Minster2012 · 29/01/2020 07:38

@BOBSS 8.3 that’s awesome a very healthy lining! All systems go for tomorrow! Hope you have a lovely relaxing day today planned.

@Mercy87 I like jigsaws too! Very helpful when waiting for nothing!

I hope my lining is as good!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻But my transfer would still be next week 😕

BOBSS · 29/01/2020 11:41

Thank u so much @Mischali @Mercy87 @BeHereNowx32 :)

@Minster2012 Your lining will be better..remember when mine was 5.2 n urs was 6.3.. so dun u worry.. "slow n steady wins the race" :)
How was ur scan today otherwise?

Minster2012 · 29/01/2020 12:12

@BOBSS my scan isn’t until 2pm so trying to stay busy until then! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

BOBSS · 29/01/2020 12:49

@Minster2012 ok..best wishes😘😘

Feline123 · 29/01/2020 12:59

Hi all, I’ve recently found out my first cycle of ivf failed. Thankfully have one more cycle on the nhs. My next follow up appointment is end of feb and I’m hoping they’ll say I can start in March. But it’s the not knowing and wondering when it all be that I don’t like... I just wish they could tell me now! I’m such a planner and ivf does not like to plan lol. I have one frozen embryo so I’m assuming it will be a FET cycle next.

@BeHereNowx32 do you know the name of the ivf mindful app you use? Sorry if you’ve already mentioned it!

Has anyone used Zita West’s meditations? I don’t want to spend £12 on them and find out they’re rubbish lol

As I have at least this month away from ivf I’m going to get back into exercise - it was something I was so surprised to say I missed! I’ve never been naturally happy exercising, but when I stopped during my ivf cycle, I realised how much I missed it as it really does help with stress levels!

Best of luck to everyone here x x

BeHereNowx32 · 29/01/2020 14:01

@Minster2012 good luck for you scan.

@Feline123 sorry to hear about your failed cycle. It’s horrible being in the limbo between cycles. Good that you have a focus with the gym.
The app is literally called “MindfulIVF” I may actually download it again.
The icon is a little cloud with headphones on.
I just ate a donut 😒 I’ll be healthier Tomorrow lol.
X

Feline123 · 29/01/2020 16:05

@BeHereNowx32 thank you, I’ll download it later 😊 and I hope you enjoyed the donut!! I’m literally eating what I want to at the moment...starting again on Monday lol

Minster2012 · 29/01/2020 17:09

Thank you ladies, again not great results here, maybe my recent illness has set me back but my womb lining was 6.8 mm not the required 7mm for FET so although we are going ahead we are giving it a few more days so next Friday 7th now not 5th

🤞🏻🤞🏻It grows a bit plumper!!

CritterTamer · 29/01/2020 19:35

@Feline123 welcome, and sorry to hear about your failed cycle - it's totally rubbish to go through. I have used the Zita West meditations and I personally enjoyed them - I think there were three and £12 is a bit pricey but they were better than the headspace ones.

@Minster2012 - such a shame about your lining, fingers crossed it improves by next week 🤞

Feline123 · 29/01/2020 19:56

@CritterTamer thank you, I knew it hadn’t worked at the weekend and I’m only now starting to feel slightly human again!! Thanks, I might give them a go too! I was listening to a couple of free ones on YouTube throughout my last cycle but I got bored of them quite quickly!

Rubyredwren · 29/01/2020 20:39

@BOBSS wishing you the best of luck for your FET tomorrow. Sending positive vibes your way!

@Feline123 sorry to hear your first cycle failed. You are right! Not knowing is the most frustrating thing. I found out my cycle failed in November. I was going to go ahead with the next cycle but decided I wasn’t ready so had a one month break and doing mine this cycle.

I also searched Spotify for fertility and IVF playlists and found a few good meditation playlists.

@Minster2012 fingers crossed for the 7th 🤞🏽

I was speaking to someone today who has had her first at 42! Very reassuring for me 💕

Minster2012 · 29/01/2020 21:26

Massive good luck tomorrow @BOBSS xxx

Tryin4no2 · 29/01/2020 23:16

@Mischali sorry to hear you are feeling so stressed - I would second that I find mindfulness apps so helpful - I find it impossible to clear my mind on my own - did like headspace.

@Feline123 so sorry to hear about the cycle not working this time - be kind to yourself - I heard that second cycles are more likely to work as they know how your body responds so 🤞for that.

@BOBSS wishing you so much luck for tomorrow!
@Minster2012- 6.8 is so almost there, maybe just a tiny bit more time is all it needs!

I’m slightly freaking out about the morning injections - not great with needles but doing ok with my DH doing the evening ones - stupidly panicking as there’s no video to follow and talk on the instructions of watching for blood incase a blood vessel is hit - felt very dizzy at the thought - maybe it’s just the drugs.... what a wuss!!

BOBSS · 30/01/2020 02:39

Thank u so much @Rubyredwren @Tryin4no2@Minster2012 I strongly advise sitz bath 2 times a day..also u may rub olive oil at lower abdomen area before sleeping n use hotbag in dat area..I think these 3things have helped me in addition to other things..u may give it a try for better blood circulation n this lining..warm hug to u😘

Feline123 · 30/01/2020 08:44

@Rubyredwren why had I not thought of Spotify!!! I’ll have a search on there, thank you!

@Tryin4no2 thank you, yes I’ve heard the same...but my next cycle will be a FET so I’m assuming things will be slightly different anyway?! Ugh, I hate this limbo stage, I can’t wait to find out more answers! I also really hate that I’m wishing time away until my next appointment.... I’m trying so hard to live in the moment and not wish my life away, but not succeeding at that right now lol
