Our third has filled up.

For anyone who is taking clomid for whatever fertility reason.

I'll do some tagging later!

I definitely ovulated the second cycle and the doctors said they were 99% sure I did the other two (although I didn’t have scans afterwards to check) as the follicles were big and I had the trigger shot. I think it can take a bit longer for the follicle to develop in some people, particularly as my natural cycles were quite long - about 6/7weeks.

Have you ovulated this cycle?

Chichz · 14/11/2019 21:54

Thanks, that's really helpful. Smile

I've got no idea, as not having any scans etc. I imagine it will take a bit more than one month of 50mg Clomid to get me going though, haha!

I guess I will see what happens at the weekend and then decide how long I'm willing to wait for a period before I start up again...

Sounds like Clomid has worked really well for you though! X

BonTon · 14/11/2019 22:18

Not well enough...still not pregnant! 😊 fingers crossed for you x

DobbieFreeElf · 14/11/2019 23:07

@Chichz be careful taking Clomid without a period as if you do as it's a Category X drug and (if you were pregnant) it would cause major defects/ miscarriage.

I believe that nearly all consultants would either tell you to wait for AF or prescribe the drug that starts your period.

Chichz · 15/11/2019 06:55

@BonTon Thank you - and you in your next steps! It can be such a long journey I know.

@DobbieFreeElf I literally had no idea about that- it's amazing what you learn from Mumsnetters! I was planning to do a pregnancy test before restarting, even though it's very unlikely, but perhaps I should wait a little longer even if it says negative? Hmmm.

I've just got 4 months worth to 'keep me going' til IVF effectively, and sort of want to make the most of them! X

DobbieFreeElf · 15/11/2019 07:17

Yes, I only mention it as a negative pregnancy test isn't 100%, AF is the indicator that you're defo not pregnant...

If I were you I would try and talk to your consultant by phone and ask what they advise.

I think we all take for granted that Clomid is actually a really powerful drug and most advice is that a woman taking it is monitored whilst taking it although, because of our poor over stretched NHS, we are given it and left to our own devices.

Chichz · 15/11/2019 07:23

Thanks so much.

I'm actually taking the day off work today as I've caught the general primary school November illnesses Grin so thought I could ring the consultant's secretary, but she doesn't work Fridays! I'll ring early next week if AF doesn't arrive, for advice. X

Beth804 · 15/11/2019 15:58

@Chichz I'm in the same boat as you, I ended up going to the gp for more norethisterone to start a bleed again for the 2nd cycle of clomid. Wasn't sure what else to do as I was just given 3 months worth with no monitoring. Haven't ovulated this cycle either though👎

I have managed to get in touch with the fertility nurse who works with the consultant. She is going to speak to her about increasing my dose before the next cycle, as well as bloods on days 21 and 28. So feel positive about that at least! Hopefully 100mg will be enough to get me going! 🤞🤞🤞

Chichz · 15/11/2019 17:25

@Beth804 That sounds like a plan! Maybe I will follow suit - my GP never seems to want to prescribe anything to induce a bleed.

Third time may well be lucky for you though! X

Sylva123 · 15/11/2019 18:40

Hello Clomiders! Can I join in your chat? And can I start with a question?!
Apologies if this has been asked 100 times. I have been told to start clomid on day 2 of my cycle.
I started my period quite heavily at 6pm this evening. I had bad period pains and spotting when I woke up this morning.
Does this count as day 1? Even though I started bleeding in the evening?

DobbieFreeElf · 15/11/2019 18:45

Problem I've always found with GP's is they are not experts and therefore have limited experience with all the complexities of fertility issues!

TSH came back even higher than it was a year ago (was 2.64 now over 3) so I'm to immediately start taking Levothyroxine as I apparently have an under active thyroid. Anything over 2.5 increases the chance of miscarriage apparently so I guess they want to get this down before starting IVF to try and get the best result! Good news is it only takes 4 weeks to start seeing the affects and if it's not better then I can increase dosage.

AMH test finally came back from The NHS, 13.5 which is high enough to qualify for ivf at the clinic we chose (but we knew that from the internal scan on Tuesday!)

DobbieFreeElf · 15/11/2019 18:47

Hi @Sylva123 No, day1 is the day you wake up bleeding (according to my consultant) also some prescribe it cd3 onward so if I were you I would start on Sunday! (And enjoy the weekend before the hot flushes and headaches!)

Goingbacktokansascity · 15/11/2019 18:49

@DobbieFreeElf amazing news about the AMH, and great they found out about the thyroid and can hopefully prevent a loss!

@Sylva123 I was told to count the first day you wake up bleeding but I’ve been counting the first day I have heavy bleeding because I had the same as you described. Different hospitals advise day 2-6 or 3-7 for clomid so I guess it wouldn’t make much difference whether you waited another day just to be sure

seven201 · 15/11/2019 22:06

@Sylva123, welcome. Like others say count today as day zero of your cycle.

@DobbieFreeElf I've also been prescribed Levothyroxine as I too have just been told I have a slightly under active thyroid. My AMH is 30.6 which is on the higher end of normal (and usual for polycystic ovaries) which means I could overstimulate and get ohss, so they'll be careful with meds or something. It's incredible what they can do to tailor to everyone's individual needs isn't it!

@Chichz I hope you manage to get hold of a doctor on Monday to ask about bringing on a bleed. Must be very frustrating. I'm a teacher too and also had the day off for the same reason! I'd been dragging myself through the week but just couldn't make it to the weekend! I hope you feel better soon.

@Goingbacktokansascity I hope you're having a good weekend away.

Goingbacktokansascity · 16/11/2019 08:40

@seven201 thank you 😘 pregnancy test today negative so I’m going to continue drinking and enjoying the weekend even though I’m internally gutted and just want to have to be sober.

seven201 · 16/11/2019 08:57

@Goingbacktokansascity it may just be too early! Not saying you shouldn't drink, just that you're not out yet.

Goingbacktokansascity · 16/11/2019 09:17

@seven201 I appreciate your optimism 😘😘😘 hopefully I come home and have a positive test and feel guilty about pickling my baby 😂

carleygh · 16/11/2019 21:52

@CharlotteCx how are you? So I've thought of you as I finally ovulated and got a few spots haha Grin

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 16/11/2019 23:51

Currently on CD1 of a norethisterone induced cycle, and feeling awful. I'm having terrible cramps and can't sleep. Grateful that it's worked though, I get so nervous between stopping the pills and waiting for AF Grin

Sylva123 · 17/11/2019 00:21

Thank you @goingbacktokansascity, @seven201 & @DobbieFreeElf for your help. Really appreciate it. Will start tmw. Wish me luck! I have a 4 hour drive after taking the pill so am hoping those hot flushes & head aches will wait for me to get home!

@goingbacktokansascity I'm sorry about your negative test. Hope it's just that it's too early. X

dragonfly1978 · 17/11/2019 08:50

Hi everyone, am just on day three of taking norethisterone and then praying it brings on a bleed so I can start my first cycle of Clomid. Am hoping the side effects aren't too bad!! Great to have this post to read as my husband really doesn't understand how it all works and I don't want to stress him out so he feels too much pressure and can't dtd 😂

CharlotteCx · 17/11/2019 09:49

@carleygh hiya! I’m good thank you x CD28 today - been feeling really sicky the past few days, lots of spots still 😢 this is a new one, all day yesterday my teeth felt super sensitive and kept having shooting pains. Never had that before. Last cycle today was when I started to spot, so we’ll see! My CM was a really pale yellow yesterday and quite thick (sorry tmi) but that could either be a sign of af on route or early pregnant. I’ll keep u updated. When did u ovulate? I’m really happy u did! X

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 17/11/2019 10:37

What cycle day did you all start clomid, and what time of the day do you take it?

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 17/11/2019 10:38

I've got my fingers crossed for you @CharlotteCx
