Anyone on Letrozole?

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

@Carleyxo my SIL is incredibly insensitive. She's the kind who loves big social media displays, scan photos all over the house etc. She knows about my miscarriages (which as you can imagine were devastating), and that that combined with my fertility issues means that it's far from guaranteed that we will ever manage to bring a pregnancy to full term, yet she still sends messages saying 'any baby news yet?'! I feel that some people must have the sensitivity gene missing!

Carleyxo · 26/12/2019 20:10

Sounds horrendous @Avocuddles I have a friend like that who sat there and said well I don't think you're ok (I have a thing of saving I'm fine what can I do as nothing can be changed) and basically duh at me for ages and I always get the baby news texts it drives me
Nuts! X

@Sylva123x first tablet taken :-)

Sylva123 · 28/12/2019 21:50

Ahhh @Carleyxo good luck!!!! I hope this is the cycle for you. In one of the posts you asked me what time I take the pills and I forgot to reply. I take mine in the morning, but I don't think it matters from what I've seen.
I hope your cycle goes well & hope your hormones are on a level with it. 🤞🤞🤞

Carleyxo · 28/12/2019 22:17

Me too! I took mine later this afternoon but I would prefer morning, I just didn't this morning as had a five hour drive and worried incase I reacted. Would it be ok to do tomorrow morning do you think or should I gradually make it earlier @Sylva123

Sylva123 · 28/12/2019 22:50

I'm not sure actually. I wonder if it makes a lot of difference? Is there anything in the leaflet about that? I don't know if it's best to take it an hour earlier each day, stick to the same time or just switch to the morning. I have had real trouble sleeping with it. I usually sleep so easily but these past 5 or 6 days I just can't sleep. Are you feeling ok on it so far?

Carleyxo · 29/12/2019 07:59

Oh no really I hope it doesn't interfere with my sleep :( I stayed in a hotel last night as we're visiting family up north and I've had the best sleep 😂 maybe because the beds huge and it's pitch black in here. I'll let you know about day 2 incase it changes. I'm going to maybe take it an hour earlier and keep doing that. I'm sure it would be fine because it's all going on tour body at the end of the day but just incase hey haha. What time do you take yours? @Sylva123

CCPP · 29/12/2019 11:29

Hi, I said I would join in as this is my 1st month on femara 2.5mg. I took it from CD 4 through to CD 8. I am now on CD 9. I had no side effects at all and took it at midday every day as I read to take it at same time daily. I'm recovering from a laparoscopy and dye procedure which was normal thank god. I do have PCOS and my last bloods showed I did not ovulate so doc put me on this. Fingers crossed for all of us 🤞

Carleyxo · 29/12/2019 11:55

Hi @CCPP is it just fermara you are on?
Is that what makes you have a period?

CCPP · 29/12/2019 12:17

H @Carleyxo yes it's just femara aka letrozole she prescribed. This drug makes you ovulate so hopefully an egg will be released this month.

Carleyxo · 29/12/2019 16:39

Ohhh sorry I got it confused with a drug my consultant wanted to give me to induce a period 😂 hope you get on ok with it x

Carleyxo · 31/12/2019 14:18

@Sylva123x have you had any bad dreams?

Sylva123 · 31/12/2019 16:16

@Carleyxo I had really really scary dreams on the Clomid but nothing on letrozole. Just takes me ages to fall asleep (I usually sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow!). Have you been having bad dreams?

Welcome @CCPP & good luck. I'm on CD11 so just a smidge ahead of you

Carleyxo · 31/12/2019 22:43

@Sylva123 I thought of you at 3am as I so struggled to sleep and had the worst dream ever so vivid 😩😩😩😩😩 it's made me on edge so much today x

CCPP · 31/12/2019 23:45

Thanks guys and best of luck to you too xx 🤞🤞
@Sylva123 I'm on CD 11 too today I finished the letrozole on CD 8.
Sorry to hear you are having some side effects on it @Carleyxo

Sylva123 · 01/01/2020 10:43

Oh no @Carleyxo. It's horrible isn't it. Hope you sleep better tonight. When the dreams are vivid like that it's hard to shake them isn't it.

@ccpp fingers crossed for us both. At least it's a quiet week for ovulation this week. I'm working but only short days.

CCPP · 01/01/2020 12:28

@Sylva123 ah ideal hopefully now it will happen. Is this your 1st cycle on letrozole too?

Carleyxo · 01/01/2020 16:51

Are we all on our first cycle together @CCPP @Sylva123
I'm due to ovulate Monday x

Sylva123 · 01/01/2020 17:41

Yes my first one on letrozole. I did clomid last month. Think we're all on our first cycle and all ovulating the same sort of time. Eeek! Good luck!
I called 111 to ask about about something different and I mentioned the letrozole. She said she knows lots of people who've been on it and experienced terrible mood swings. Hopefully that won't be us! I had one bad day at the start but thats it so far. Not as bad as my mood on clomid... So far!

CCPP · 01/01/2020 17:42

@Carleyxo it looks like we are 😊 I dont know when I am due to ovulate as my bloods show I didn't ovulate on my last few cycles on my own. So I am just dtd every 2nd day to try catch it. I'll be getting day 21 and day 28 bloods done to see did I ovulate on the letrozole. I normally, before letrozole, have a period every 34/35 days but I don't release an egg. I am hoping I will ovulate on this.

CCPP · 01/01/2020 17:45

@Sylva123 no mood swings here....yet haha. Oh fingers crossed this works for us 🤞🤞🤞

Carleyxo · 01/01/2020 18:09

I hope all is ok @Sylva123 very interesting about mood swings I haven't had any yet and took the last tablet today so we will see.

@CCPP is Letrozole your first step? Fingers crossed you ovulate, have you got ovulation tests ready to test?

CCPP · 01/01/2020 18:18

@Carleyxo yes letrozole has been this first step. I've had a lap & dye done and my tubes rent blocked so that's good. But an ultrasound did show PCOS so that's probably why I'm not ovulating. Is this your first step too?

CCPP · 01/01/2020 18:34

@Carleyxo I have read there is no point using ovulation tests when you have PCOS as ppl with PCOS tend to have high LH in their bodies. I might start using them and see what happens!

Carleyxo · 01/01/2020 19:18

Oh really very interesting! Yes it may be worth it but every other day will be good :-) @CCPP
