Anyone on Letrozole?

1000 replies

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

Oh gosh I'm so sorry 😭😭😭😭 @TTCbabyONE
I'm ok thanks plodding along :-) x

Sylva123 · 13/04/2020 09:56

@TTCbabyONE just catching up and I am so sorry to read through whats happened. The body can be so cruel to have that burst of hope. Let us know what the doc says. If it is a MC I am so, so sorry. 💕
This journey can be heartbreaking xxx

Sylva123 · 13/04/2020 10:03

@Carleyxo I hope your review goes ok tmw. It's such a shame to have the test delayed. Fingers crossed for July. Well done everyone for keeping on trying and keeping the hope.

I'm out of letrozole chances now (just got a BFN) so I'll probably be leaving the thread soon and stumbling my way through IVF, whenever we can get an appt.
Just wanted to say thanks for the support and company through this madness. I'll definitely keep checking in to see how you're all getting on. Ive never met any of you but desperately want BFPs for you all. ✨

TTCbabyONE · 13/04/2020 11:06

Hi ladies, it is a MC. It’s been such a rollercoaster week, think I’ve been through every emotion possible! We are heartbroken but hopeful 💫

Good luck for your review tomorrow @Carleyxo let us know how you get on. Definitely keep us posted with your progress even if you move to another thread. It’s been so nice to know there are others out there to speak to through this journey x

Carleyxo · 15/04/2020 19:21

@Sylva123x I'm so sorry for you :-(

The review went better than I thought, he said although the results weren't great it could of been a one off but none the less they certainly aren't horrendous like the other lady made out because the count is really good so counteracts the low amount of good ones if that makes sense. He was so reassuring and said it can definitely happen naturally etc and actually the wait for IVF is not long - they're taking appointments for July at present but when all back to normal I could get an initial appointment to discuss within a month and then followed by tests checks etc and show how it all works and then take medication on next cycle so start to finish two months.

He did say they were very unsure if the IVF generous funding will still be there next year due to potential cuts for the government to claw back the money they're giving out at present xx

JadeS174 · 22/04/2020 16:18

How is everyone doing?

Hope you're all okay, as well as you can be during this time. X

unknownscot · 22/04/2020 21:47

@JadeS174

I had a really shit day in work (NHS) - mentally and physically exhausting. Not a great state to be in especially when fertile too.
I came home from work and cried. Just so so so fed up with everything.
Hopefully a better day tomorrow!!

How are you? X

JadeS174 · 22/04/2020 22:01

Oh no @unknownscot what do you do?
I can appreciate where you're coming from. I'm a nurse and things are incredibly stressful since coronavirus 😳

I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I'm okay, I'm 4dpo today. One minute I'm positive and thinking this is it, this cycle will work and then next I'm thinking I won't be successful at all. Such a rollercoaster! X

Carleyxo · 23/04/2020 19:36

Hey @JadeS174 thanks for asking. I'm good also 4dpo I think (went for a untracked month this time) how are you x

JadeS174 · 23/04/2020 20:49

@Carleyxo Glad you're well.
Yes I've been totally unmonitored this month but got a peak solid smiley on Clearblue ovulation test Saturday so I'm assuming I'm 5dpo.

I'm not too bad thank you 🙂

Carleyxo · 24/04/2020 18:29

Sorry @JadeS174 I meant untracked as In I haven't done any ovulation sticks etc to try and de stress (I don't feel stressed but you know what I mean)
Period is due 5/6th May so in the TWW now. My husbands bday is the 9th May so I keep thinking how lovely it would be x

JadeS174 · 24/04/2020 21:47

@Carleyxo ah sorry! 🙈 Well I have everything crossed for you. It would be a lovely birthday present for your husband 🤞🏼X

Sylva123 · 27/04/2020 19:19

How's everyone getting on? Everything crossed for a May positive for you @Carleyxo. What was it the psychic person predicted - was it around now? If not it's great that the IVF waiting list isn't too long.

Good luck to you too @JadeS174

@ttcbabyone how are you doing after everything??? Are you ok?

And @unknownscot sounds like work is hard and stressful at the moment. Where r u up to with everything?

I'm totally off all the medication now and it feels like a fog has cleared. I can't believe how that stuff made me feel so different. Had a video consultation with a private NHS clinic today. It was really good. They're giving us a 30-40% success rate. Its hard to know with "unexplained" infertility though isn't it - no one really knows what they're treating. Hope you're all getting on ok with your cycles .x

Carleyxo · 27/04/2020 19:20

Wow @Sylva123x that's certainly a step in the right direction though. Do you feel relieved to hear that? When can they start ivf for you?

She said April/May time then mentioned August so it was all a bit odd. Tried to think if the August would be the three month scan x

JadeS174 · 27/04/2020 20:22

@Sylva123 thank you. Glad your consultation went well 🙂 xxx

JadeS174 · 30/04/2020 09:27

LONG POST ALERT SORRY

So yesterday was a particularly difficult day for me as my friend, who I also work with left for maternity leave. She admitted early into her pregnancy that she hadn't being TTC and was one of the lucky ones that "just fell". But course I'm still happy for her.
I came home and was talking through my feelings with DH and I appreciate he is struggling as well and trying to support me but said things like "If the medications work, they work. If they don't, the don't" and "I'm sure there are millions of women in the same situation as you"- not helpful! We didn't argue but I told him saying things like that don't help when I'm feeling the way I do. He was very apologetic and telling me all will be okay.

Then trying to sleep last night a weird thought kept going through my mind. I had cramping at 8dpo (about 1 week before AF due) but sometimes implantation doesn't occur until 12dpo. So what happens if you have symptoms of AF and then implant?! That just baffled me!

Apologies again for v.long post. Hope you are all okay! X

Sylva123 · 03/05/2020 00:12

Don't apologise @jades174 my posts are always crazy long! So sorry about the person at work. It's hard not to really feel it when it's someone close by and it's hard not to compare what we're going through with other people that just seem to sail through it all so easily. My friend has just announced her 2nd pregnancy that she wasn't really trying for - and we started TTC before she fell pregnant with her first. Of course we're happy for other people - but it does sting.
Sorry your husband said the wrong thing as well. It can feel so isolating can't it, with no one really getting it. How are you now?

I don't know about the implantation thing - I don't think you'd have AF symptoms if it's implanting, I think the symptoms can feel really similar (twinges, sore boobs etc). Xx

Pinktruffle · 03/05/2020 12:21

It's very difficult to distinguish between AF symptoms and pregnancy symptoms. They are incredibly similar, including the cramping so at this stage it could mean either @JadeS174. I know it's easier said than done but try not to read too much in to it, it'll just drive you insane, Letrazole does enough of that on it's own!

JadeS174 · 03/05/2020 22:14

@Sylva123 @Pinktruffle thank you for replying.
I'm okay thank you, AF arrived today so I've got 2 more months of letrazole left.
Hope you're both well. X

Sylva123 · 03/05/2020 22:27

Oh no I'm sorry @JadeS174. I hope this is your month. X

unknownscot · 04/05/2020 13:40

@JadeS174 sorry to hear it wasn't your month.

How is everyone else getting on?

I'm 5DPO - waiting game is back on! Although, the good news is that the private clinic we were hoping to attend before lockdown have opened again for consultations. Hopefully they get back to me soon with an appointment date! :)

Leah89 · 04/05/2020 13:47

Hi guys!

Is anyone on Letrozole and Metformin? I am on 7.5mg Letrozole and 1000g Metformin. I also have PCOS and very, very rarely have periods.

What are your experiences with both?

Thanks! Smile x

unknownscot · 06/05/2020 10:31

@Leah89 Sorry just letrozole for me - how long have you been on them?

TTCbabyONE · 12/05/2020 13:27

Hi everyone, how are you all doing?
Have any of your clinics starts back up? Hopefully won’t be too long for us now before we can get the ball rolling again.

I haven’t been on here in weeks so I’m just catching up on all your posts xx

JadeS174 · 12/05/2020 20:42

Hi @TTCbabyONE I'm not too bad thank you. How are you?
No, my clinic isn't doing any appointments/monitoring at the moment. I'm CD10 today so hoping ovulation is on the cards in the next few days 🤞🏼 I have 1 more round of letrazole after this month and then have my next appointment in July (if things are back up and running) to discuss the next step/IVF.
Hope things are back to normal(ish) soon enough! X
