Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start a thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment in July/August.

I'm (hopefully) having a FET late July/early August, anyone else want to hop on this thread for the ride?

@TinyPaws not what you need at all. Hopefully it will be a good sign, as others have experienced a positive outcome with bleeding so early on. Xx

Marmite83 · 09/08/2019 16:17

I've got everything crossed for you @TinyPaws. I had a fairly large bleed of bright red blood when I was about 7 weeks in my second pregnancy, following a mmc in the first one. I was convinced it was over but at the scan we saw a heartbeat and it turns out I had a haematoma (bruise) in my uterus that was bleeding. It stopped fairly quickly. That pregnancy resulted in my 3yo dd. Don't give up hope, it doesn't sound like the clinic has.

Dlpdep · 09/08/2019 16:51

I also had a friend who had a number of bright red bleeds and rushes to the maternity unit for scans and has an 11 year old to show for it. Hang on in there @TinyPaws

Parkandride · 09/08/2019 18:37

Keeping my fingers tightly crossed @TinyPaws I really hope it's just a random bleed.

Still waiting here, period due in 4 days, think I'll be on the next thread! Had my first accupuncture session yesterday, had a nice relax during then some strong cramping afterward which was odd - maybe it does do something!?

Peanut1980 · 09/08/2019 19:25

@TinyPaws sorry you’ve had a rollercoaster of a day. Don’t lose hope yet. I feel the rule book on expectations of what’s normal is thrown out the window with this process. I have everything crossed for you 🤞🙏🤞🙏

confused107 · 10/08/2019 07:04

So I tested this morning and BFN. It's two days before my OTD, but it was an early responder so think it's my answer. Just feel terrible. Don't know if I'm strong enough to go through this again

@TinyPaws hang on in there. I have everything crossed for you and a better result for everyone else

Peanut1980 · 10/08/2019 07:25

@confused107 I’m so sorry to hear that. Big hugs to you. I haven’t even had my transfer yet and already dreading the OTD. It’s so heartbreaking. Sorry if I’ve asked this before but do they know the cause for your infertility? How many attempts have you had so far? Do you have any on freeze?

Marmite83 · 10/08/2019 07:42

Sorry to hear that @confused107, there's still a chance though. And if not just remember you're so much stronger than you feel right now.

Caityprice · 10/08/2019 07:47

Oh @confused107 I’m so sorry. But you never know right? You’ve still got two days?

Big hugs.

Caityprice · 10/08/2019 07:47

@TinyPaws - how’s the bleeding?

Viletta · 10/08/2019 07:55

Hi all, BFN for me. It's my third attempt, 2 fresh and one frozen. I've got another frostie left. Wondering if it's just bad luck or implantation issues..

confused107 · 10/08/2019 07:58

Thanks everyone. Going to treat myself to a long hot shower. Sick of cold showers....

@Peanut1980 unexplained infertility. Only issue identified has been low AMH. This was our first go so hopefully the clinic will be able to tell us more when we go back for the consultation. TBH, unless they have an idea of how to do something different to improve our chances I'm not really keen on another stab in the dark

Viletta · 10/08/2019 08:05

@confused107 hi there, I'm in the same boat, BFN, it's 12dp5dt. Official otd is Monday, but I'm sure the test would definitely show now. All we can do is keep going.

confused107 · 10/08/2019 08:13

Sorry you are in this position too @Viletta. Nothing in the freezer for us so don't know what's next

sometimesalways · 10/08/2019 09:21

@confused107 oh I am so sorry, it's so stressful! But as PP said, it ain't over till it's over. You still have two more days and you should retest and don't loose hope.

I am convinced today that af is coming. I am 10 days into TWW.

Out of curiosity; where we all asked to test at 14 days? I was asked to test at 14 days PT. Or are different clinics recommending different waiting times?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 10/08/2019 10:02

Just catching up. Sorry @confused107 and @Viletta I don’t want to be that one annoying person that tells an annoying story but I have heard of people testing negative before otd and then positive on otd. My clinic made me absolutely swear I wouldn’t test early for this reason. Hope things get better.

@TinyPaws got everything crossed for you x

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 10/08/2019 10:03

@sometimesalways my otd was 13 days past 5 day transfer x

sometimesalways · 10/08/2019 10:19

@Whatelsecouldibecalled interesting! I had 5 day blasts too
Perhaps it's differences in protocol that changes the otd? Or perhaps it matters if the transfer was morning or afternoon (mine was pm)

Dlpdep · 10/08/2019 10:39

Mine is 13 days after day of transfer too. I’d say it’s to avoid any possibility of false positives or negatives.

So sorry to read updates. We need some good news on here pronto!

TinyPaws · 10/08/2019 11:42

Thank you everyone for the kind comments and good wishes. I've had no further bleeding and pregnancy tests this morning are noticeably darker than yesterday's, test line is almost as dark as the control line now so feeling cautiously optimistic again.

My OTD is 13dp5dt and 20 days after the trigger shot. Last time (different clinic) it was 14dp5dt (21 days after trigger shot) but with my stimulated IUIs it was 14dpo (16 days after the trigger shot). I guess they make the OTDs so late to make sure any embryos that are slow starters are detected.

@Parkandride I had acupuncture pre-transfer but my TCM practitioner doesn't do acupuncture during pregnancy. I found the sessions very relaxing. Fingers crossed it's done some good.

@confused107 Sorry for the BFN. How many days post transfer are you?

@Viletta Sorry it was a BFN.

@sometimesalways Hang in there - nearly there!

@Peanut1980 Did you get an update on your embryos yesterday?

I am a big believer that if things are not working, there is a reason and that "unexplained" is not a proper diagnosis. I also believe that female factors especially egg quality are frequently assumed even where there is no evidence that this is in fact the case.

OP posts:
sometimesalways · 10/08/2019 12:35

It does sound positive @TinyPaws that's great! Perhaps if that light bleed never happened to you before, it's a good sign? Little embryo has made a strong home there Smile keeping everything crossed for you! It's so great to have positive news in the group

Peanut1980 · 10/08/2019 13:03

Oh I’m pleased for you @TinyPaws 🤞🤞🤞

I’ve just had the call from the clinic. All 13 are still going. 4 are of great quality and the rest are average. I’m booked in for a transfer at 12:00 on Monday. Feeling stressed as they keep advising we transfer 2 but my husband will only allow us to transfer 1. He says it will ruin our lives if we twins. I’m just so desperate for it to work that I want to follow their advice but obviously I can’t do two if my husband doesn’t agree. He’s literally convinced our marriage will be over if we transfer 2. Just had a heated discussion. I’m a twin conceived naturally. I don’t really want to have twins at this age. Arrgghhhhhhh I just want it to be successful. Need to do some research!

sometimesalways · 10/08/2019 13:09

@Peanut1980 can they give you any statistics? In terms of the chances of both embryos implanting, in the context of twins running in the family / age / quality / other factors?

TinyPaws · 10/08/2019 13:20

@Peanut1980 It sounds like your husband is catastrophising, would twins be SO bad? Obviously transferring 2 significantly increases the risk of twins but the risk is still there even with a single embryo transfer (my clinic quoted me a 2% risk without assisted hatching or a 4% risk with). On the other hand, if you choose to put 1 embryo back this means you will have an additional embryo in the freezer for a possible future FET, and FET and fresh success rates are similar. Lots to think about.

Marmite83 · 10/08/2019 14:14

Sorry @confused107 and @Viletta, fingers crossed for a positive on your otd.

That sounds very positive @TinyPaws

My otd is 10dp5dt, 14dpo, 16dp trigger. Seems like my clinic does it earlier than all the others. No idea why. Think I'm going to poas in the morning before I go to the clinic so I get a chance to deal with whatever the result is before they ring me. Still feeling like it hasn't worked atm
