Hi everyone,

Thought I'd start a thread for those of us undergoing fertility treatment in July/August.

I'm (hopefully) having a FET late July/early August, anyone else want to hop on this thread for the ride?

I’m still feeling very floaty. Not too uncomfortable this time. I’m just so relieved the EC is done. My husband kind of missed the pot a bit for his sample. He’s not entirely sure where it went so hopefully it’s not hanging from the ceiling in there 🤣🙈 15 is a good number but I believe it’s all about the quality so just a waiting game over the next few days to here how they get on. The consultant has previously hinted it might be an issue with my egg quality. Just one good egg please 🙏🙏🙏 my lining is nice and thick 10mm. I do think the whole process is just like a game of roulette. There are no rules x

@Celledora I’m so sorry to hear that. Huge hugs to you. Look after yourself.

Dlpdep · 08/08/2019 11:13

How is everyone today? We started puppy training classes last night, very exciting. Our poor little pup was very afraid of other dogs so socialisation is going to be a big thing for us. I’m still chugging away with my nightly dose of crinone and counting down the days until I can test.

@Celledora I’m so sorry to read your update.
@Peanut1980 fingers crossed for you that you get some super blasts. My clinic was great and rang me every day with progress updates but looking back on it I don’t know that I needed them. The end result was a little different to how they were progressing and I guess behind it all I was a little disappointed that I didn’t have more to freeze. Hopefully I won’t need any of the Frosties, but still....

Caityprice · 08/08/2019 12:20

@Dlpdep - awww your poor little pup! Kind of funny though. What kind of dog is she/he? Sorry if you’ve said that! I’m sure you have.

I am 8.5 days til I can test, and it feels like I’m going to count every minute. I’m back working (thankfully from home today) so at least that will speed up the days. Although once I’m in the office I need to not wince every time I touch my boob accidentally. They are SO sore from the progesterone.

It’s funny what you said about the embryo updates. I got no updated between fertilisation and the embryo transfer day, and that drove me nuts, but I guess you can’t really win either way! Everything crossed for you @Peanut1980 - I think the wait for embryo news was worse than the wait for the test (so far, ask me again in 7 days though)

Peanut1980 · 08/08/2019 13:22

Thanks ladies. I’ve just had the call from the clinic. All 15 were mature and 13 have fertilised. I had 9 mature eggs and 5 fertilised last time so slightly ahead of the game. Anyway, anything can happen so positive start but will just have to see what happens over the next few days. They’ll next call me on Saturday with an update. All being well we’ll then book a date for a transfer on Monday morning 🤞🙏🤞🙏

Good luck with the puppy training classes @Dlpdep. I bought a puppy after my miscarriage in November. He was and still is a great distraction.

Dlpdep · 08/08/2019 13:42

@Caityprice it’s a little cocker spaniel, gorgeous but nuts!

@Peanut1980 isn’t Nov/Dec such a shitty time to have a miscarriage? Everyone else is all festive and full of the joys of the season and you just can’t get into it at all. That’s great news! 13 fertilised is a great number!

confused107 · 08/08/2019 13:45

Excellent news @Peanut1980

I'm still spotting when I wipe, but relieved it hasn't turned into full on AF or fresh blood (sorry gross) my headache has gone but then so has the breast tenderness. I have no idea what it all means, and what is a good or bad sign. I think I'm going to test early on Saturday. It's only two days early then at least I will have the weekend to recover from a disappointing result before work on Monday

Puppy classes are the best fun. Ours completed the basic socialisation then went on to get her 'bronze citizen' award. Think we all got a lot from it, but boy did she know how to switch on the good behaviour in class. Model student there and nightmare at home!

Caityprice · 08/08/2019 14:01

@Dlpdep oh they are gorgeous! But yes, full of beans. We want maybe a spaniel/golden retriever cross. It’s like our dream dog, but at the moment we work a bit too much (I can work two days a week from home, but there’s three days I really can’t)
@confused107 hopefully that’s good news! And don’t worry about the TMI. I feel like this is the one place you can be as detailed and gross as you want Grin

Caityprice · 08/08/2019 14:02

Oh and @Peanut1980 - GREAT number!

Marmite83 · 08/08/2019 14:37

@celledora I'm so sorry, good luck with whatever you decide.

Great result @Peanut1980! Fingers crossed for a good phone call on Sat.

I've still got everything crossed for you @confused107

I'm currently 4 days post transfer and 5 days away from otd on Tues. I've had a really bad tummy the last two nights which I'm hoping is just a result of the medication. Not pleasant though. Other than that I'm doing ok. Just trying to stay busy and not eat too much crap!

TinyPaws · 09/08/2019 08:29

Sorry I've left this thread so long! I've had an interesting few days and not wanted to update prematurely but more on that later.

@Caityprice Welcome to the 2WW and congrats on 1 in the oven and 2 in the freezer! Hope you make it through with your sanity intact. I've tried offering the tug toy to the puppy instead but it doesn't seem to be helping. I've got teeth marks all over my arms and legs! Yoga wise I like Yoga with Adrienne but not sure if it's suitable during 2WW/pregnancy.

@sometimesalways There are very good arguments for holding out on testing (clear result, possibly less anxiety inducing?) but I've been naughty and tested early.

@confused107 Glad you have been keeping yourself busy but sorry you've had some spotting. You're on the home straight now! We're planning to do puppy classes once our pup is 13 weeks old. She has so much energy I can't wait until we can take her out! 4 more weeks to go.

@Parkandride Sorry you've had a delay, must be really frustrating, every day feels like a week when you're doing IVF!

@Bailey2017 After my last chemical pregnancy (fresh IVF cycle) I started to bleed 3 days after stopping progesterone. Hope you're doing ok. x

@Lola124 I think the main thing is to enjoy your food and not stress! My clinic recommend vitamin D also. How are you finding the stims?

@Dlpdep One in the oven and 3 in the freezer is a fantastic result! I can't wait until we can start puppy training classes, the pup is getting more and more mental by the day! (As am I it seems...)

@Peanut1980 Hope your little one had a fab birthday. 13 fertilised is a fantastic result, fingers crossed they develop nicely. This part of the process is so stressful! When will you get an update?

@orangefolly That's a great result, hope you get good results with the testing and have a chill couple of weeks.

@Celledora So sorry this cycle didn't work out. Hope you're being well looked after. Flowers

@Marmite83 Glad you are doing ok and keeping yourself occupied! I personally find the 2WW absolute torture.

Right, on to my news. The short version is, it's a BFP.

The slightly longer version... I'm now on my 5th cycle of fertility treatment and can't figure out which is worse - holding off and testing when I'm supposed to or testing early and often. They are both excruciating in slightly different ways!

I noticed I was feeling quite nauseous at 2dp5dt and unusually sensitive to smells. This cycle I started testing daily with cheap one step tests at 3dp5dt and all the tests are positive (I'm now 7dp5dt and official test date isn't until Thursday which will be 13dp5dt). I did have an hCG trigger shot but am confident this is not what I'm seeing in the tests as they are getting darker (and also on my first IUI cycle I tested with a FRER at 13dpo/15 days post trigger and it was a stone cold negative). I took a FRER this morning and it's got what I think is a fairly decent line for 7dp5dt/7dpo. I can share a pic if people don't mind?

I'm obviously pleased to have a positive test but after 3 early losses it's hard to get excited. My lines are looking better than they did at this point with the chemical pregnancies that ended at 3+6 and 5+0 so hoping this is a sticky one. I'm experiencing quite a bit of anxiety and going to try and see if I can arrange some counselling.

This journey is a crazy one and I'm thankful to be sharing it with you ladies. I hope we all get to hold our babies someday.

Dlpdep · 09/08/2019 08:58

@TinyPaws this is sounding good, especially as you have been testing all along. I have everything crossed for you. I think it’s a good idea to access counselling now, it will help you work through your anxiety a little. Our puppy trainers have a WhatsApp group and we all have to upload videos of our pooches doing their homework. Cuteness overload!

My OTD is this day week and we are going to be away at a friend’s house. I might test on the Thursday morning to see as if it is a BFN, I can’t see that changing overnight. The trip will involve theme parks and we would always have a few drinks at night. If it’s a BFP I will need some creative excuses. The old antibiotics excuse doesn’t hold much water anymore. The only thing I have going for me is that people wouldn’t be expecting me to be pregnant so they won’t be watching for signs.

Marmite83 · 09/08/2019 09:03

Congratulations @TinyPaws! It's hard not to expect the worst when you've been through previous losses but I really hope this is it for you. If the lines are getting darker that's a really good sign.

I'm currently 5dp5dt and so far I haven't been tempted to test because I know I had an hcg trigger and wouldn't trust the result. Thinking I might poas before I go for my blood test on my otd on Tuesday so I'm not waiting all day on Tuesday for the news. Not feeling particularly hopeful for some reason, not sure why.

Dlpdep · 09/08/2019 09:35

@Marmite83 the night before I got my bfp for my DD I was at a 40th birthday party and had a big discussion with my DH about how the medicated cycles (clomid first, then Femara when that wasn’t working and HCG shots) weren’t working as we had had a few months of doing everything right and not getting a BFP even though we fell pregnant first month for the two miscarriages I had had at that stage. The following day I realised that AF should have made an appearance and that was DD. Hang on in there, you have no reason to believe it won’t work this time. We do this to ourselves so that we don’t get our hopes up.

Viletta · 09/08/2019 10:39

@TinyPaws congratulations on your bfp! Wishing you smooth full term! Great news!

Bailey2017 · 09/08/2019 12:23

Hi @TinyPaws yes mine was similar just coming to the end of it now. Will be beginning of Oct till try again. So having abit of a break and doing normal things. Have been feeling abit shitty tbh. But it's expected so I'm allowing it. Speak soon xx

TinyPaws · 09/08/2019 12:52

Just started bleeding. Gutted. Period not even due until tomorrow. Never bled this early or with a positive test before.

OP posts:
Marmite83 · 09/08/2019 12:56

I'm so sorry to hear that @TinyPaws, be kind to yourself x

Viletta · 09/08/2019 13:14

@TinyPaws some bleeding can happen while pg. are you sure it's af?

Caityprice · 09/08/2019 13:14

@tinypaws is it definitely a full period? Not just a light bleed or heavy spotting?

sometimesalways · 09/08/2019 13:16

@TinyPaws oh no I am so sorry! Hugs to you. This process is so tough. Is it definitely a period? Could it be just one of those random light bleeds of early pregnancy?

TinyPaws · 09/08/2019 13:34

It's not as heavy as my period in full flow but more than a couple of drops. Panty liner territory. Fresh red blood. Clinic have advised to increase progesterone to 4x daily.

OP posts:
sometimesalways · 09/08/2019 14:02

@TinyPaws hang in there! You never know. My friend who had ivf a couple of years ago had a light early bleed and was terrified but it turned out fine and she has a little girl now... if it's not full flow bleed, you never know

Caityprice · 09/08/2019 14:55

Everything crossed for you @tinypaws - the clinic wouldn’t have told you to up the progesterone if they’d given up hope? Deep, deep breaths. Lots of deep breaths.

TinyPaws · 09/08/2019 15:45

Haven't had any more bleeding in the last 2.5 hours. What I have had so far was quite a bit lighter than my regular period. Clinging on to hope!
