Hi everyone

I’m creating a new thread with the hope of finding people with similar dates to me. I am due to start medication on May 13th with the hope egg collection will be June 19th. I’m 34, female factor fertility.

Anyone else out there with similar dates?

Thank you TwistofFate ...

I rang the clinic today, Ive done it all right apart from, I have made up the dosage amount in my head lol . It's meant to be 150, I've wrote down 150 yesterday afternoon, my protocol sheet that I read a thousand times last night says 150, but in my head it was 125?! Officially sent me wappy lol! Nurse told me not to worry and to just do 150 going forward. Can't believe I made a number up and moaned about the needle amounts 😂😂😂 got to laugh at myself !!!

mouse1234567 · 31/05/2019 13:21

@LittleOne3 your comment made me laugh about your DH not really being aware you are doing IVf. Sometimes I think the same! There is so much less appointments and treatment for them!!

@Mincedpea I had to do a freeze all because of a polyp in April. I then had a hysteroscopy three weeks ago and do my transfer shortly. It was annoying -but didn’t slow me down too much really and I feel a lot fitter now for my transfer having not stimmed-I had mild OHSS. In the end during my hysteroscopy my polyp had gone away!! But they gave me a scratch which might help?! The jury is still out!

Been a bit quiet this end as just been waiting for today’s scan to look at my lining. It’s reached 8.3 so I await a call from the clinic about when to start progesterone and when transfer will be but I guess it’s mid-end of next week. Feel pretty scared and anxious now.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday.

@jemimafuddleduck sorry to hear you had a family funeral.

KittyKatSmile · 31/05/2019 13:31

@jemimafuddleduck so sorry you're going through such a tough time. Take time to be kind to yourself and regroup and decide what you want your next move to be. We're all here for you (although: I am going with realistic pessimism - how do the ones of us who aren't successful then find each other again??!)

@DawnK77 thank you so much for confirming. I too had been quite puzzled by the conundrum so I'm glad to have an answer Grin

Ginandtonic31 · 31/05/2019 13:51

@jemimafuddleduck I'm so sorry you feel crap. It's an awful time to feel so out of control and such a come down after lots of hard work and excitement to then think what now? Try and relax and put a plan in place and it might then help you to get excited for the next phase.

@LittleOne3 My OH fell asleep the other night as I did an injection! I was trying to show him how hard the needles I had been given were to pierce the skin (they kind of push it in first and I have to really pierce it) and I looked up and he was asleep!!
In regards to the relationship OCD I've been feeling really up and down since we started IVF and I've felt similar at times of big change and commitment in my life. I can resonate with so many of the indicators. Then me being me I think well what if I'm covering up a real issue by thinking it's that?! Send me a message, definitely up for discussing it!

@Pose34 I don't think anyone is intentionally being rude. I think @jemimafuddleduck Point is that we are a group of women who are trying to support each other through every step of this journey from EC through to preparing for transfer. I think the point she's trying to make is that the post might not particularly have any value to a group of people that have supported each other to get to their BFP. Especially at such a sensitive time. I'm sure everyone has their fingers crossed for you and your wife and are open to support and advice.

Ginandtonic31 · 31/05/2019 13:55

I don't know how that's all bold!

mincedpea · 31/05/2019 14:23

This thread is moving really quickly! It's good to read about lots of people making progress with their stims and scans.

Sorry to everyone feeling bad right now, it's a tough enough old slog without extra sadness on top. I've ended up taking a couple of extra days off work as I just can't really think properly, the post-EC wait is not easy.

Totally agree that the medicine is really confusing, why is it so complicated? Before I forget, if anyone ends up using the Ovitrelle trigger, they have quite a nice video on their site about how to do it, in case you have a little panic just before you have to do it.

Thanks @Spongebob79 for sharing about your polyps, bad luck with three of them, but sounds like things are going ok with your embryos. Got my fingers crossed for you. Are you going for a fresh transfer?

@mouse1234567 Sounds like we are doing similar things, I'm just a few months behind you! I had never even heard of polyps before but they seem more common than I'd thought. It's good to hear that you're feeling fitter and that you're getting closer to transfer day. Keep breathing and doing whatever works for you to keep that anxiety at bay. You'll be grand!

Hope everyone is doing ok, sending positive thoughts.xx

Spongebob79 · 31/05/2019 15:24

@Jemimafuddleduck it is nice to hear from you and sorry you’re having such a hard time at the moment, I hope you can take a bit of time out to look after yourself xx

@mincedpea (love the name btw) yes we’re going for a fresh transfer

had the call this morning that all 5 are still very similar and progressing as they should for day 3, so it’ll be a Sunday transfer for me. One thing she said yesterday and today that’s bothered me a little is her reference to them being average. I know average isn’t bad at all but it doesnt sound like they’re top quality. Suppose we’ll find out more on Sunday.

Pick up puppy tomorrow so that a good distraction but means that DH will have to wait in the car with her on Sunday whilst i go in for transfer on my own. I don’t mind too much.

Nordicmom · 31/05/2019 16:13

I’m at a indoor climbing centre with the kids and the sweat smell is killing me I can’t breath through my nose ! Also been wondering last few days why I’m feeling increasingly not just moody but like I need more of my betablocker . Like I’ve had 10 cups of coffee . I have the familiar something crushing my heart feeling I get from my steroid ( hence the betablocker I’ll have to switch into another one I get a positive this worries since I’ve been on it for 9 y so no one knows exactly how I’ll feel when doing that ). At times I feel a bit shaky if I’m lucky I’ll have to say about this ...

LittleOne3 · 31/05/2019 16:47

@ginandtonic31 @mouse1234567 I feel there should be a competition entitled 'The Not-so-cleverest thing my other half has said or done during IVF'.

After 3 weeks of injecting at 7pm my DH told me he'd booked a table to celebrate how far we'd come. He booked it for 7pm.

Although @ginandtonic31 I think yours might be a winner 😂😂😂

@spongebob79 Can't believe you're getting your pup. That feels like a lifetime ago when you were last talking about that. Have you been on a shopping spree for it yet? I waaaaay overspent on our puppy before we got him 😍

Weenumpty · 31/05/2019 17:42

@Pose34 firstly, congratulations- how lovely for you. However, I too read your post earlier and found it quite upsetting, on my way to find out if my only egg was viable for transfer. I think that the purpose of this thread is for any and all to share the highs and lows of the journey, whatever the end result, with others who understand and have the sensitivity of what to say. You must appreciate that the majority of people on here have shared what they're going through and have not just come on to share their good news. You've obviously been through it too but didn't go into that first. If you have any useful advice that would be great.

@jemimafuddleduck I'm so sorry, dealing with all of this is hard enough never mind a family bereavement too. I hope you're looking after yourself.

Zest11 · 31/05/2019 18:21

Wow this thread does move fast. I think I will end up moving onto the June/July thread whenever that gets put up as I am only in a few days in to burserlin (already got some bruised thighs!) It is so helpful though knowing what to expect.

@jemimafuddleduck I am sorry to hear of all of your struggles. Life can really be so unfair!

I like the silly things DHs have done. @LittleOne3 I read your post twice as at first I thought what a lovely thing he has done...and then realised! Grin

Weenumpty and Ginandtonic31 very well said indeed and yes Pose34 if you do have any helpful advice, that would really be appreciated.

mouse1234567 · 31/05/2019 18:53

@Spongebob79 I understand how you feel re quality -I have quite a few embryos but none are top quality. My acupuncturist did say though that they can only tell so much from the outside. I’m trying not to get too hung up on it -I was always an average child!

@LittleOne3 -I love the sentiment of what your DH did booking the meal but 7 o clock booking did make me laugh! Haha!

Got the call from the clinic and FET scheduled for Thursday-start progesterone tomorrow. I’m silly to worry but have a work meeting that day so am anxious about getting the time off. I know it’s silly to stress about that tho and must put myself first and not worry. Have people taken whole days off for transfer? Mines in the afternoon but I want to go in relaxed so I think I will take the whole day. I’m feeling really anxious and not excited about it all to be honest. I’m trying to distract myself with clothes shopping! Also eating healthy is soooo dull!

Hope everyone is ok.

Helene2019 · 31/05/2019 18:54

@weenumpty wishing you good news.

@jemimafuddleduck thinking of you.

And also thanks to everyone who is posting about their experiences. There are a number of people just ahead of me in the chain of events and so it is reassuring to hear from people about what comes next as this is my first round - and frankly I'm quite ignorant about everything despite it being explained by the clinic (it's quite a lot of info to take in!).

I'm day 7 stims and belly is super bloated, and I have something akin to period pains/trapped wind. Wondering if hot water bottle is ok on tummy, or if anyone has tips to alleviate the discomfort?

Helene2019 · 31/05/2019 19:02

@mouse1234567 if I get to FET stage I plan to take the whole day off. You've now put the idea into my head to have a massage in the morning before hand - I find it difficult to wind down and I think going in relaxed may be a good thing for me! Then I plan to distract myself for a few days with something creative.

Spongebob79 · 31/05/2019 19:03

@LittleOne3 I know, she was 2 weeks when we first went to see her and I posted that pic. Today she’s 8 weeks and tomorrow she comes home 😀.

@Mouse1234567 I like your thinking, I have always been very much an average type of person. Nothing wrong with average. With regard to transfer I definitely know what you mean I’ve been stressing all week about it as a 2 or 3 day would have meant time off work and you don’t know for sure until the day. Previously I have taken the whole day off just to mentally prepare myself but I’m sure some come from work and possibly go back to work after.

DawnK77 · 31/05/2019 19:17

Happy puppy day tomorrow! That's exciting! My dog is currently sunbathing lol!

Good idea re the massage. I don't relax well, I think I'll look into that, thanks for the idea. I'm also thinking of copying further down idea jigsaw puzzle. I've started trying to garden to take my mind of stuff but that doesn't take much of my time .

Thanks everyone for all your info all the time, I would be lost without this section!! xxx

Cauliflower82 · 31/05/2019 19:55

Whoa I feel totally behind. Two full pages of activity - I’m going to do my best to catch up with you all.

@jemimafuddleduck you’ve been on my mind loads the last few days - I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having such a tough time. I’m never good at saying the right thing in all honesty but I am thinking of you and just hoping and praying your luck changes really soon.

@helene2019 when is your egg collection due?

@mouse1234567 that’s excellent news! Best of luck. I’m hoping to take the day off, presuming I get that far. I’m hoping me and my husband can do something special to mark the occasion. Also I have more anxiety over the clamping bit of the procedure than I do pretty much anything else 😧.

@zest11 I was bruising loads the first couple of days too but I’ve mastered it now (if I do say so myself 😂). Inject the solution very slowly - SO slowly and I don’t feel a thing. I still hate the stabbing though - I come at mine from an almost 45 degree angle and, although I hate the bastards, it never really hurts or bruises or bleeds now. It appears injecting buserelin is my calling.

@littleone3 I love that story about your husband booking a table for 7. What a trooper. I inject at 7 too 😂.

@spongebob79 it sounds like pretty good news to me 😊. I’m pretty good with average - there’s a lot to be said for it.

@dawnk77 I feel your pain re solution mixtures, etc. I can guarantee that’ll be me next week (hopefully).

I’m sorry if I’ve missed anything.

I’m day 18 of buserelin. Wow! I can’t believe I’ve got this far and yet I’m really not that far through the journey at all. I’m feeling mentally good but boy do my breasts hurt 😂. Just wow! Eagerly awaiting Wednesday to hopefully hear I can start stimming.

Must you take menopur at the same time each night? Can it differ by half an hour or so?

TwistofFate · 31/05/2019 19:57

I'm struggling to keep up! Busy day in here today. ☺

@Helene2019 I think you're allowed to use a hot water bottle or take paracetamol, avoid ibuprofen though.

@mouse1234567 I took the whole day off for transfer, it's a quick procedure but it can be emotional and you might just want to relax afterwards, but you don't need to. I knew a woman who got a FET during her lunch break.

Congrats @Prose34 however, I agree with others, joining to share your good news rather than having been part of the thread during your treatment reminds me of every time I opened a message from a friend to see an ultrasound scan, it always stung the most when it was from someone who knew that I was struggling with infertility.

@spongebob79 How exciting! Your puppy will be a great distraction and I'm sure she'll bring you lots of joy and affection. I genuinely think my cat keeps me sane sometimes.

Cauliflower82 · 31/05/2019 20:13

@twistoffate totally agree re @prose34 so delighted for you and hope one day we’re all in your shoes. I think it’s just that this board has become quite important to us all - a place we share our journey and seek support and give support to others. I’m not sure the end result is the most important thing on these boards - I could be very wrong though. For me, it feels like the crappy day to day stuff, the different steps we all take to get one step closer. I’m not very good at articulating myself sometimes so hope that doesn’t offend. Congratulations to you and your wife, I wholeheartedly mean that.

Still wondering if anyone else on the 2 ww and on progesterone shots and pessaries is feeling nauseous or it is it just me ? I seem to be very sensitive to hormones maybe it’s just that but is driving me crazy end of next week feels sooooo far away !

LittleOne3 · 31/05/2019 21:48

@nordicmom Not particularly nauseous. But I'm only on one 400mg pessary twice a day. Boobs are killing though. Literally you could not have a worse drug to make you believe you're pregnant ay!!

@Helene2019 my bloating was baaaad. I always felt it was particularly cruel making me look 3 months pregnant when I wasn't! No cures though sorry. Was about 5 days after EC that I finally settled.

@mouse1234567 @spongebob79 Yep We have 'average' embryos. Our one inside at the mo is a B. All frozen are C quality. I hate all the questions that I suddenly come up with as soon as I get home. But at the time they give me information I just seem to nod and say 'Uh-huh'. Grrrr.

@DawnK77 What dog do you have? We have a border collie. He's a gem 💎🐕💕

Spongebob79 · 31/05/2019 22:06

Can I ask, those on the progesterone how many days did it take for your boobs to begin to hurt? Ive been taking 2 x 400mg cyclogest twice a day and I’m on lubion and injectable daily as well, since Tuesday, but so far nothing. I’m sure I remember having some symptoms by now so slightly worried it’s not working?

Nordicmom · 31/05/2019 22:18

Littleone3 I have two pessaries a day too not sure what amount I’ll check later also some to inject in the evenings again not sure how much DH does it I still hate needles after all these years .
A puppy is on the cards here too once we move in the next year or two . We’ll start looking once my FIL estate is all sorted in the fall . He died in a traffic accident last September in the beginning of an unbelievably awful 6 m of our life’s . A month later my mom very nearly died of a heart attack and pneumonia in Finland where i’m from she was at the icu when I got there just waking up after Cryotherapy that worked her brain doesn’t seem damaged , then I had a thyroid cancer scare , our then 13 y DS got mugged not physically hurt but mentally scarred and so was I in these times of all the stabbings ( we live in London too ) , then I found out my dad had had a stroke a few years earlier prob according to scans and how he was behaving then and is now on drugs trying to prevent a bigger one then in Jan the hospital ruined my first cycle which was a long one and I wasted all that time and money. Surely this kind of unbelievably bad luck if you believe in that can’t just continue for ever ! All on top of my existing health problems for the last 10 y and issues with kids and DH work etc everyday things . I’m
now getting better from it but had real anxiety especially at night for ages I’ve had depression all my life on and off but not anxiety until this all happened . Has been very hard to keep going but it made me more determined than ever to go for the ivf before I’m too old regardless of everything else going on ... sorry to ramble on am in a mood tonight !

LittleOne3 · 31/05/2019 22:22

@spongebob79 my boobs have been sensitive for all the drugs so difficult to know but I think they've got proper heavy/aching about 6 days after starting pessaries

LittleOne3 · 31/05/2019 22:29

@nordicmom Sorry didn't mean to ignore your post - I didn't see it. Sorry for how much you've had thrown at you. I guess at least with IVF you can take a bit of control over compared to all the other stuff xx
