5 eggs retrieved - panicking

Hi everyone - this is our 4th donor egg IVF cycle and the clinic called earlier to say that 5 eggs have been retrieved. I'm devastated because I know what a numbers game this is - we've previously had 12+ eggs and watched that number drop drastically over the following days, so I'm terrified that we won't have any embryos to transfer and the latest cycle of drugs and anxiety has all been for nothing, not even a chance of a BFP.

I'm so upset . . . any success stories out there with 5 or fewer eggs? Thank you x

Thank you - obviously the nasty little pessimistic voice in my head is poking me with "you could lose them overnight, don't get too excited . . ." but I'm trying desperately to ignore that and think positively.

PS My DE grade 2/3, day 4 transfer is now 3 and drew all over her bedroom wall today Smile!

Embryo transfer update! One embryo on board, and one to freeze! I can't believe it, I'm so happy. The one that has been transferred is a hatching blast too. It's so much more than we could have hoped for on Friday . . . maybe this is it for us? Pleeeeeease be sticky, little embryo!

Bit late but I only got 4 eggs. All 4 fertilised and made it to blastocyst. The one we transferred is now a 1year old!

All about quality. I remember the embryologist explaining but at the time was more worried about there being any.

8 follicles, 4 developed and 4 eggs collected.
2 x 5 day blasts.

1 fresh cycle last year and sadly MMC
1 FET in February. 12 weeks tomorrow :)

Good luck in the 2ww. Some things I did in that 2 weeks:

  • acupuncture
-eating pineapple core -hypnotherapy visualising that the the embryo would stick -ziti west cd on after embryo transfer

Now I have no idea if this is all Mumbo jumbo or not, but the point is, it made me feel like I’d done everything in my power and it gave me something to do so I wasn’t just symptom spotting.
