I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

Glad yours was good! Feel bad for you for your next ones ☹️ Hugs x I'll see if I can find the pic but one time I ended up with the biggest bruise. Some just have a better nack than others don't they!! Hopefully there'll be a mix up and you'll get the good one!!

That last one was for @Kelly199

Ahhh thank you @veeboo @Kelly199
I don't know whether to laugh or cry! Can't believe my body is sort of working! Maybe the HSG gave my tubes a clear out or something! She said to still take the letrozole starting on day 2 of my next cycle but I'll need to be monitored to make sure my ovaries don't go crazy!!

Aww have you got the day off? Go get a hot water bottle, cuppa tea and some choc. You deserve it! I had mine while I was asleep so I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would've been xxx @veeboo

Kelly199 · 14/03/2019 14:27

@veeboo hope the cramping will settle for you.
@squirrelnutkins1 that is a bad bruise! Yes, some are much better than others!! I think I should get over my fear with the amount I've had/having !!
I'm so happy for you. It's really good news. Step forward!!
When is your day 2 due? Think I'm like a week behind you.
As far as I know, I should hopefully be given the prescription for Clomid Friday to take end of month (whatever cycle day she says from and if she sticks to the plan as she does seem to change her mind!) and same reasons as you, I need to be monitored too! Xxx

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/03/2019 22:29

@Kelly199 thank you 😘
Hmmm, my day two will be around Sun-Tue I would have thought. Never can quite predict my cycle length.
Did they say how many days of the month you have to take clomide?
Are you managing ok with work and appointments?
I'm really fortunate that I work in a hospital so can just pop out, although going forward I don't know how stealth like I'll be able to be. Follicle scan will take longer than a quick blood test.
Cross that bridge when it comes eh! Xx

@veeboo going back to the not drinking excuses, I like the sound of the antibiotics one. I'm a TERRIBLE liar tho! My weekend plans have just been cancelled but I was thinking of just saying I'm trying to lose a bit of weight (which I am) but not sure that excuse would be bought!?

Kelly199 · 15/03/2019 11:58

That's good then! Bet you can't wait to get started with it!!
I've literally just got back from my appointment. She prescribed the clomid so have that ready. She's told me to take it from
CD2. Flo app predicted that'll be around 26th, but we'll see. Not counting on it. Always a diff day lol.
She's transferred me back to nhs now to have the monitoring. I'm surprised how much monitoring they offer!
I'm having blood test on tues as planned. Will then be having blood test on CD21 next cycle and an ultrasound scan on day 10, day 14 and day 24 to ensure the egg has actually been released!! Very thorough!!
That's good with work. It is difficult for people who aren't so lucky!!
I was a dental nurse, but now work for my partners mum in admin.
If I was still in dentist. There's no way I'd get away with all these appointments!! Xx

Kelly199 · 15/03/2019 12:00

Sorry forgot to answer how many days.
I have a six month supply and to be taken CD2-6. She said best to take them at night and make sure at the same time every day xx

Kelly199 · 15/03/2019 12:00

@squirrelnutkins1

2fingers22018 · 15/03/2019 12:31

@veeboo that was such a nice txt its gd to hear sum ppl are soo careing and thoughtful glad ur hsg went alrite did they say much? @squirrelnutkins1 thats great news about u ovulating! @Kelly199 r they monitoring to make sure your ovaries arent over stimulated?..im back to the not drinking since my hycosys been done its soo annoying isnt it? Wouldnt mind if i was pregnant and had sumthin to actually show for it uuughh

Kelly199 · 15/03/2019 12:55

@2fingers22018 I think so! I think that's day 10 and 14, but say 24 I think is to make sure an egg has actually been released. I only expected one scan, not 3! Really good though.
Hope you're feeling ok. It is shit when you haven't had good news yet! Sending hugs xx

2fingers22018 · 15/03/2019 13:08

@Kelly199 thank you soo much hun 💜x they did say keep trying while we re on the waiting list sumtimes hycosys can move mucus out and you can get pregnant but im trying to not get my hopes up ive had too much disappointment..gd luck to everyone with their treatments itd b great if one of us actually got lucky❤

Kelly199 · 15/03/2019 13:17

No problem at all 😘❤️
I know what you mean. Doesn't make you want to when all you've had is disappointment!
She said she's going to see how I am on clomid then look at referring for ivf. Hopefully I will have some luck with clomid, but not counting on it!!
I know, I wish everyone luck too. Hope you will have some success soon ❤️ xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 15/03/2019 14:05

@Kelly199 wow that's super thorough isn't it!!!! I'm glad you're getting such excellent care 😊
For sure, especially when you've not told anyone. It must be so hard making excuses and using holiday for your appointments.
That's interesting about taking it at night time. I've heard some people get bad headaches on it so I might ask about taking it at night as well.

@2fingers22018 thanks!
It's hard to keep going isn't it, disappointment after disappointment. I don't even feel like doing 'it' half the time 🙈 it becomes a must rather than because we want to do it, pretty unsexy 😂
Interesting about the mucus. I've kind of said the word blockage but not thought what it could actually be.

Here's hoping this will be all our years xxx

Kelly199 · 15/03/2019 15:24

@squirrelnutkins1 yeah it is really good! Thank you.
Oh my partners mum knows, so I don't have to make excuses with her. The amount of appts I've had, I don't think I'd get away with her not knowing 😂 lol.
Yeah, hopefully be ok!
Won't be long for you to eventually get started on the clomid! I can't wait for my af to arrive now just to get the ball rolling. Yes, fingers crossed it's all the year for us!! 🤞🏼 xxx

2fingers22018 · 15/03/2019 16:36

@squirrelnutkins1 yh i was just thinking blockages could be scarring or from periods i didnt really think about mucus it was the nurse that said hopefully its just caused by sum mucus blockage that the dye might flush out. She was really lovely i was saying to my OH everyones so quick to put in complaints i should send an email praising her she was soo nice cracking jokes to lighten the mood and asking if i was okay. Oh well im back on the opks so we can try this month while we wait im not telling my OH tho at least if he doesnt know gives one of us less pressure.

veeboo · 15/03/2019 19:35

@squirrelnutkins1 yes I'd rather say I'm trying to lose weight as I am trying to be healthier to ttc. But I am so terrified of the are you pregnant question that I feel like I should drink to avoid it! That's ridiculous isn't it?
I think DP will help me out if I decide not to drink.

@2fingers22018 they literally just said the dye has gone all the way through and showed me the spillage, said that was good and to come back to see the consultant. I think our next step is IUI but I think we might wait. I think the real issue for us is that my partner has erectile dysfunction so we don't dtd as much as we should.

2fingers22018 · 15/03/2019 21:31

@veeboo they said at mine no blockages aswell i thought they might have mentioned follicles n stuff or am i just being daft? The more i think about it my head spins theyr puttin us down as unexplained but ive had 1 blood test that says i ovulated my OHs SA came back normal and the hycosy showed no blockages. Do yous think i should ask for my bloods to be repeated maybe i dont ovulate every month?

2fingers22018 · 15/03/2019 21:33

@veeboo have they not offered your OH any help with his erectile dysfunction?

veeboo · 15/03/2019 22:11

Yes they referred him to a clinic but its separate to the fetmrtility process. My clinic said they only check for ovulation once unless the results indicate a problem but you could maybe ask?

squirrelnutkins1 · 15/03/2019 22:31

I'd defo ask. That's what I did and got the repeats done. Surgeon wouldn't have suggested it. Are your cycles regular? @2fingers22018

2fingers22018 · 15/03/2019 23:15

@squirrelnutkins1 my ff app says im 47% regular so i guess not oh well another trip to the docs i suppose its almost as if they cba finding out what our problems are

GreyC · 16/03/2019 12:53
