New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

Not yet. Still waiting for AF. I'm on cycle day 33. Hows things with you? @Kelly199

@squirrelnutkins1 typical!! How long did you say your cycles usually are?
No news since last time I msg (I think, hard to know what's been said there's so many lol).
Just waiting for my af to start the clomid. Due on 25th! How many scans are you having?
I was wondering with mine as she's sending me for 3 on day 10,14 and 24, but if my af starts 25th it'll mean one lands on a Sunday!! It shouldn't matter if it's the day after on the Monday? Hard to say because they've obviously selected particular days for a reason!

The last few months have been 32, 30, 28, 28 so expecting it any time now.
She only mentioned about a day 12 scan.
Glad yours are being so thorough!
I did wonder that about if it falls on a weekend. Will have to ask when I ring up.

So annoying waiting! Mines between 29-36. Now I want it to arrive, it will most likely be late lol. Always the way. Hope yours shows up soon so you can start!
Yeah I know I am lucky. Some people don't have any, can't believe that!
I suppose day 12 is the in between. I've only ever heard of 1 scan being done, I was shocked when she said. Thought I'd got it wrong until I read over the info sheet she gave me.
Could you let me know please if you find out? I'll find out at my first scan appt otherwise and let you know as I should be ok for the first one (depending on when it decides to turn up!)

Yeah I just want to get started! I forgot to ask about taking it at night 🙄 I might just take it with me if I'm at work and ask the question then if the answer is take it in the daytime I've got it there with me.

I stayed an hour late at work cus it's sooooo busy and we have new staff who are lovely but just ask me questions ALL day every day so I can't get a thing done 🙈

Yeah, I did ask mine about when to take it. She said doesn't really matter, but to make sure it was same time everyday. She said she usually recommends night, but that's just because she thinks you'd remember better at night (I don't think we'd forget anyway given we've waited months to take it 🙄😂 lol)
Others have said night because they think they sleep through symptoms?

@squirrelnutkins1 and @Kelly199 any sign of af yet ladies? On an entirely different note has anyone watched the series cheat they have troubles ttc it was really interesting seeing from the prospective of the husband wanting kids more than her. Sometimes feel as if every programme i watch revolves around ttc lol prob cause its in my mind 24/7😂

I am so fed up. Since the day of my hsg last thursday I've had flashing smiley on clear blue opk. Ovulation was due sat/sun but had no positives despite testing throughout the day. I'd hoped my cycles had regulated and that the hsg might help but clearly not. So frustrated. :(

@Kelly199 and @squirrelnutkins1 defo give it a watch dont want to give any spoilers but its really gd aside from the ttc part

@veeboo im the same thought id ovulate days ago going by ff but still no +opk but cramping and ewcm!

@veeboo what does the flashing smiley mean? I have one of those, but gave up with it and bought the cheap ones because I could never get a smiley. Obviously know why now, but what does the flashing mean?
Sending hugs. Are they given you any medication or anything? What's the next step for you?

@veebo maybe the hsg has just messed with you slightly this time and will hopefully sort it self out soon! What cycle day are you?

@2fingers22018 it's so annoying after 3 months of regular cycles. I really hoped we'd be in with a good chance after hsg but j guess not.

@kelly199 the advanced tests give you a flashing smiley when they detect estrogen surge which happens prior to the lh surge when you get a static. I'm not sure whether to keep trying this month or write it off

@2fingers22018 starting "Cheat" now!!

Hi @finallytakingtheplunge I am on CD19 now and have had 27/28 day cycles for 3 months so not sure what to think. We will have to keep going!

@kelly199 who thought we’d all be wishing for af to arrive so we can crack on! I am good thank you just waiting like the rest of you for af but I have two weeks to go so not quite as impending or as frustrating yet!
