I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

To be honest I was sure that's why we weren't conceiving, just the stress of the last few years. So bit of a surprise when gp said DH had low sperm and we'd prob need ivf!

I can't get over this postcode lottery thing, it's so wildly unfair I can't even understand how it's legal! But I'm pleased they offer you at least iui. All the best with it all, and I'm so sorry about your mum. It must be on your mind a bit as you work towards being a mum too, and I know it doesn't ever go away xx

I’ve had a really crappy day! No idea why just hormonal and woke up with the most horrendous period pains took me back to when I was a teenager and struggled to get out of bed with them!! Confused!

2fingers22018 · 08/03/2019 09:03

Hi girls mind if i join? Had bloods done they think im ovulating my OHs SA came back normal just had a hycosy yesterday and they said no blockages ive got lots of eggs(no specific numbers given). We basically fall under unexplained infertility, we re on a 6mnth waiting list for ivf now. I luv a bit of sarcasm and sick humour you sound like my ppl need to laugh or we d scream suppose x

squirrelnutkins1 · 08/03/2019 09:33

@2fingers22018
So we meet again! Glad your hycosy went well 👍🏻 sorry it's unexplained ☹️ glad you've got eggs.
The ladies on this thread are LOVELY x

Kelly199 · 08/03/2019 09:36

Welcome @2fingers22018 !
Sorry it's unexplained!!
Glad everything else ok! Xx

2fingers22018 · 08/03/2019 09:46

@squirrelnutkins1 thanks hun..i dnt know how to feel bout it to be honest it went well as in no blockages etc but i was kind of hoping it was a simple blockage that couldve been flushed out x @Kelly199 thanks for the welcome im trying to catch up with everything thats been posted on this thread its gd to have ppl in the same position to talk to💜 ive got a question for everyone thats had a hycosy did they give yous all four antibiotic pills to take together? They told me to take 4massive antibiotic pills before i left the hospital seems like a lot in the one go?!

Kelly199 · 08/03/2019 10:02

@2fingers22018 I know what you mean! Just so there could be some explanation! I'm really sorry. I'll know by the end of the month whether they will give me clomid or if I need ivf. I have pcos and my gp said bloods showed I don't ovulate, but specialist wants to double check?! So annoying waiting and waiting! All my other tests were ok though (obviously apart from confirming pcos).
Yes, it's lovely to have people to talk to who understand!
I had my HyCoSy last Friday. She told me to take 2 tabs an hr before procedure. Didn't have anything afterwards. She just told me to ring/go to gp if I thought i had an infection as it can happen sometimes, but unlikely?
Perhaps that was why they asked you to take antibiotics ? Not sure though.. x

2fingers22018 · 08/03/2019 10:12

@Kelly199 they didnt give you any antibiotics?! Thats terrible dnt mean to worry u but i thought they give everyone them as a precaution i mean everything in hospitals is sterilised so ud think the chance of infection would b low anyway. FX u need clomid and it kick starts ovulation i know its not ideal but might b the lesser of two evils x im just stressin now about wether i should tel work about my ivf i dnt know if i should ask for some leave another thing to worry bout eh? Lol

Mrsmch123 · 08/03/2019 10:20

Hey just checking in again. Waiting for hycosy phoned today to check they had received my paperwork and was told it will be may some time. How did everyone find it?while it seams ages away it’s also the same month husband has his 2nd SA. So will work out ok. Also got an appointment to go over the results ect for July(which of course was slap bang in the middle of my holiday)but called and got it for the start of July. On a side note booked a holiday to Sri Lanka to cheer myself up😂flying business class!—trying to pretend im posh—

2fingers22018 · 08/03/2019 10:38

@Mrsmch123 the hycosy wasnt as half as bad as i thought it would be tbh but then i didnt have any blockages. Ooh im soo jealous bout the holiday its gd to have things to look forward to and distract yourself x

Kelly199 · 08/03/2019 11:32

@2fingers22018 oh really? She just told me it was low risk and if I did notice anything, to call the GP. I can completely understand why they'd give it though just in case. Thankfully, all is ok with me and no infections from it.
@Mrsmch123 hope you don't have to wait too long for your HyCoSy! X

2fingers22018 · 08/03/2019 11:56

@Kelly199 u know what its like with nhs varies from area to area what they do but i do think the chance of infection is low. I felt ill after taking the bloody things upset stomach so theyv prob not had a chance to work anyway lol

Kelly199 · 08/03/2019 12:34

@2fingers22018 I know, it is crazy how different it is with everything in diff areas. Shouldn't be, but it is!!
Aww no!! Mine prob would've been the same. Doesn't take much for my stomach to turn lol x

2fingers22018 · 08/03/2019 12:40

@Kelly199 im just wondering if they were meant to give me the 4in the one go but oh well took them now lol

Kelly199 · 08/03/2019 13:23

Lol, I hope they were meant to! They're out of your system now at least if they weren't! Lol xx

Kelly199 · 08/03/2019 13:23

I'm sure they meant to anyway don't worry x

GreyC · 08/03/2019 17:53

Had my results for day 21. It was 24. So not sure what that means but seeing the gp in a couple weeks to talk about referral

Mrsmch123 · 08/03/2019 18:51

@grayc hey I was told anything above 30 indicated that I had ovulated.

veeboo · 08/03/2019 20:03

@grey I was told the same as @mrsmch13 but the nurse also said that some units say anything above 16 suggests something has happened but they set at 30 to be sure. Maybe they will monitor for a few months. Fx for you. Keep us updated x

Trying81 · 08/03/2019 21:22

Currently awaiting a referral to a gynaecologist

Oct 18 stopped taking pill. No withdrawal bleed, no period since

Past 2 weeks been getting intense pelvic pain, stomach ballooned out so much that I look pregnant. Had bloods done, and a X Ray which has shown nothing but A&E doctor suspected kidney stones.

Been on the pill pretty much permanently since I was 16 due to painful periods initially, which is making me suspect endometriosis

Has anyone experienced similar symptoms?

veeboo · 09/03/2019 09:51

Hi @Trying81 I used to get terrible period pain and bloating. It seems to have calmed down now after a year off the pill. I also tried to cut out certain foods and that helped. I had an ultrasound which found no issues and I've got a hsg on Thursday and slightly worried there might be an issue.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 09/03/2019 10:40

Hi to the newbies! I am currently In Morocco thought a bit of RnR would be good before I start my injections on next cycle well unless by some miracle we conceive naturally but it’s unlikely!!

Hope everyone else is ok? Will try and catch up and post something more useful shortly!!

@GrayC aren’t you having a day 21 and another day aswell because I’d tiur cycles? Or am I confusing you with one of the other ladies? Maybe wait till you have that one done? I can’t remeber what mine was but it was over 30 which seems the standard guideline maybe ask for it to be done again x

Trying81 · 09/03/2019 12:34

Hi @Veebo

Thanks the response, hoping my pain will calm down soon, I am waiting for an ultrasound appt to see if they can figure out what is causing my lack of periods.

Good luck with the hsg

GreyC · 09/03/2019 13:00

@finallytakingtheplunge

No that isn’t me. Somebody else; I had some blood taken around ovulation and Who knows what’s going on in my body!! Ha! I’m trying to go with the motions and not to be too upset and google crazy about the levels. I’m hoping when I go back to see the gp we will start a plan of action and move forwards with it all. It will happen at somepoint I hope; naturally or with intervention & im holding on to that.
Hopefullya good big update for you in a couple weeks. In limbo at the minute and it certinly makes me frustrated

sl85 · 09/03/2019 14:56

Hi guys,

Another newbie jumping in!

Had both tubes removed this week, and will hopefully be starting our first cycle of IVF in April, once my post-op recovery is over. Anybody else had tubes removed laparoscopically? The pain is much much worse than I expected! I'm still bed bound 4 days later!

Not really sure what to expect once we start the IVF treatment, I've heard some horror stories about the hormones but needs must! I'm finding it really difficult to stay positive and realistically manage expectations! The whole thing is so overwhelming!

Xx
