New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

And if you're late (fx!) they might just make you test

@veeboo sorry, just seen your message, sounds like a good idea for your sanity this month, if it's getting you anxious take a break 🙂 see you in a bit, make plans that don't involve tests and have a good weekend! We'll be here as and when x

I'm ok thank you. First clomid tablet last night, so onto another cycle!!
Yes, ring for your appointment as I'm sure I've heard you can have it during af, depending what it's for Xx

Depends what the scans for @CloudSway I had one on a heavy period and she said that was good cus she could see more with the lining being thin

I've been to the doctors this morning. Woke up and felt like I was dizzy and going to faint (whilst lying down) the feeling hadn't passed so managed to get in with the GP. My BP was high and blood in my urine so he thinks it's my period arriving, which is just about in line with my usual dates (couple of days late) and means I didn't ovulate last week and it was around 15 days after the miscarriage. Feel awful so he said rest at home and given me some anti-sickness tablets. He did say the first couple of periods after a miscarriage can really knock you about. I'd got it into my head it was something sinister.

I’m ok but after reading about everyone getting constipated after ec collection and me feeling rather smug that it didn’t happen it seems to of caught up with me! I’ve also been having some pains low down where I’d expect all my follicles to be and seem to hurt more when I wee so bit worried I’ve got an infection or something but seems unlikely 2weeks on so will see how it goes!
Have paid for me next lot of meds so in two weeks time I will being down Regging (4 weeks of injections 😩) ready for my fet which will hopefully be some time in the first week of June!

Thanks for asking @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF had an emotional day 😥 think it just hit me again. Have woken up with intense period pains but af still isn't here. It's like a physical kick in the guts reminding me I'm not pregnant anymore 😥

Eek, that's exciting about starting your meds, although that sounds like lots of injections! How you feeling about starting?

Mixture of nervous and excitement really DH keeps telling me how he got a really good feeling about it and I’m just like calm down who knows what can happen once my embro is back inside me! I’m trying to remain positive but realistic at the same time it’s so hard

Getting closer to the day, bet you're so excited (and nervous, obviously!). It's so horrible for you to have all those injections, but just try and keep a positive mind of what it's all for. I sincerely hope you will have success from your next cycle!! Xx

Spoke to dh about the opks and we are on board for next month, he reckons we won't get too worked up about it now because we know it's not going to happen naturally anyway so won't get our hopes up - don't have the heart to tell him I'm literally still thinking this could be the month we get bfp every month lol, but I'm just pleased I can better predict when af will start so all good!

Checked with the hospital, the scan won't be an issue if I'm on. I mean, won't be an issue for them, feels pretty gross and weird for me but hey, guess I'd better get used to gross and creepy on this journey 😏 oh and it's to check on a thick walled haemorrhaged cyst on one of my ovaries

@cloudsSway I know it weird but honestly it will be fine I remember my flat appointment they were like right let’s do your internal and I was like what!! I’m on!! They were like it’s fine on unless you want to rearrange so I just did it! The amount of time you have to have an internal you’ll get use to it and no one bats an eyelid!

Hi all. So I haven't done a good job of trying to relax this week. I tested this morning at 10dpo but my luteal window is only 12 days and it was a BFN. I could cry. I don't know how to keep going through this rollercoaster every month. Now we've been told there is nothing obvious wrong we have had a number of months where I know we've dtd at the right times. Perhaps not loads through the cycle but this month the day before ovulation and once more either side. I hear of people only doing it once in the fertile window and getting pregnant. It's so hard. I don't know what to try next.

Sorry I've been a bit quiet, really been struggling.
Just phoned the gp to check my letter has gone to the fertility unit and it was sent a week ago so that's good. Just waiting to here from them now. I don't feel strong enough to phone them today.
Getting my colour done this afternoon so that's a nice treat.
Just text my friend who lives near my hair dresser to see if I can pop in to see new baby on my way home. I really don't want to but I feel like I'm being nasty not having been already. She was born the same week I had my miscarriage so it's hard.
Pretty sure AF is starting as well so that's crap.

So sorry you're finding it tough @veeboo it's a roller coaster of emotions isn't it :(

@veeboo we re the same unexplained infertility and it fucking sux @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF my dogs been dead for over a month now and i still think about her when i come home its soo quiet without your little pets to greet you with a bark or in your case some tweets 😧 @CloudSway i dont think i could get a scan on my period mine are soo heavy 😶and id probably cringe soo much id shrivel up and die..funny how we think periods are soo gross and embaressing when its just normal guys are lucky!

@squirrelnutkins1 stay strong hun that must be soo tough for you is this your friend that knows your ttc? X

Glad the scan will be ok to have. Yeah, it isn't nice for you, but to them it's nothing as I bet they do it more than we think.
What's the plan for that? That's obviously what the scan is for? Hope they'll be able to do something for you xx
@veeboo sorry for bfn. It's so shit!! I know nothing I can do will help, but I've recently bought the book 'It Starts With The Egg'. I'd say to have a read (recommend to everyone on here). It's targeted at everyone to read really as it's for people who want to try naturally, prevent miscarriages and improving odds of ivf. I bought it as I'd seen loads recommending it and it outlines a lot of things for everyone, whatever journey your on. Tells you how to improve your odds of conceiving with what supplements you need (tailored depending on how long been trying and if you have conditions such as pcos). It's all been scientifically proven and she's given all the references at back of book. It's worth a read. Also says about how to improve sperm too.
@squirrelnutkins1 sorry you're struggling. It's expected with what you're going through.

@2fingers22018 @CloudSway I had a scan during a heavy period, I felt so embarrassed and was a bit of a mess down there after but the lady was so nice and gave me wipes to clean up with lol!

@2fingers22018 @Kelly199 No this friend doesn't know but with her first baby it took 4 years and then this baby was a surprise! She can't do today as has family round so will go next week.
