I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

That's brilliant news @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF, fingers crossed for you 🤞 hope you rest up this afternoon. X

veeboo · 18/04/2019 09:12

I haven't yet said welcome to the thread @VenusStarr. I am sorry for your loss. I have found this thread so helpful to be able to vent and not be judged.

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend. I'm hoping for ovulation and a regular cycle after my hsg seemed to knock my last one out of sync.

Kelly199 · 18/04/2019 11:48

@veeboo fingers crossed for ovulation for you!! Have a lovely weekend too xx
Hope everyone is ok xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/04/2019 12:12

Afternoon all,

Hope your all ok!

Feeling much better today yesterday was quite painful and going for a wee was daunting! Didn’t sleep well as was uncomfortable to move but have made it to work today feeling bloated but not much pain apart from if I need a wee which is all the time as still got to drink loads!

Had a call from the embryologist this morning out of the 16 eggs, 13 were mature and 9 have fertilised so am please with that!

Anyone doing anything nice for Easter?

@veeboo fingers crossed for ovulation

@kelly199 have you got to wait for your blood results?

Kelly199 · 18/04/2019 12:30

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF hope the pain will ease.
Amazing news!! I'd be really happy with those that have fertilised! So pleased for you!!
Not doing much for Easter, relaxing I think! Are you doing anything nice?
I called this morning, but she said they hadn't come back yet. Don't know how as I had them 10am yesterday and they get sent off everyday and are usually back the following as it's all computerised 🤔 I'm going to call back this pm and hope for the best.
I've been getting these twinges in my ovary (close to it). Don't know what it is? I've had it for a few days though. Wondering if maybe it's something to do with the clomid.
Really hope you have a lovely weekend. Rest up and I hope the pain will ease up for you.
Genuinely so happy about the eggs that have fertilised for you!! Wish you the best of luck for your transfer xx

veeboo · 18/04/2019 12:38

@finallytakingtheplunge that's great news! How are you feeling? Forgive my ignorance of the process but what happens next in terms of the transfer? Do they wait for a new cycle?

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/04/2019 13:06

Thanks @kelly199 we are really pleased and DH walking around really pleased with himself as looks like his sperm has improved from the last sample he did!

We are going away for a few days so that will be nice!

Maybe the results aren’t back till the afternoon so I’m sure like you say if you ring later they will have them!

Thankyou!! You are always so lovely 😊

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/04/2019 13:11

@veeboo sorry only just updated once I’d replied to Kelly199! Thanks we are pleased!

I’m feeling ok just bloated and some pain when the pain killers wear off!

As we are having a freeze all yes we will wait till next cycle now I have a call with the dr next week to talk about it! We are waiting for an update on day three to see how they are getting on if they have top quality ones they will freeze them and then leave any others till day 5 to see how they go and freeze if they can!

veeboo · 18/04/2019 13:22

Sounds so positive! Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Kelly199 · 18/04/2019 13:32

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF haha, aww I'm so pleased for you both. It's so stressful.
Hope you'll have a lovely time! At least you have some good news to go away with!! 😊
Yes, I will try! If I'm meant to have them today, I'm sure I will!
Aw thank you!! ❤️ xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 18/04/2019 13:48

Nice to hear everyone sounding so positive 😊

Kelly199 · 18/04/2019 13:50

@squirrelnutkins1 how are you? Silly question, I know!! ❤️

squirrelnutkins1 · 18/04/2019 13:55

@Kelly199 aw thanks for asking, I agree with @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF you are always super lovely!

I've had a few good days keeping busy etc but then this morning I just burst into tears after a really silly few fiesty words with hubby, it wasn't even an argument, we both just had a bit of sass on us but I then had floods of tears so that's worried me a bit, thought I was in control Blush

We're back to dtd a bit but not specifically 'trying' as I've no idea where I stand with my cycle! Just thought, I may give the clinic a call for an update on where we stand.

squirrelnutkins1 · 18/04/2019 14:01

Just spoke to gp surgery, they've not sent the letter to the fertility clinic letter yet even tho I saw the doctor last Monday ☹️ so annoying.
Part of me wants to ring the clinic directly but then I don't know if I could stand the disappointment if the answer is I'll be discharged. Hmmmm. Maybe I should leave it until after the long weekend.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/04/2019 14:12

Thanks @veeboo! Hope you do too!

Kelly199 · 18/04/2019 14:26

@squirrelnutkins1 you're too kind, thank you ☺️❤️
Aww, you're bound to feel fragile. It's so rubbish what you're going through.
Yeah, worth giving them a call so you have some sort of idea.
Really hope for some good news for you soon 🤞🏼
Just saw your other message! Sorry they haven't sent it yet. It's so annoying when it's in others hands and they don't get things done!! Perhaps give yourself this weekend and see how you feel about ringing on Tuesday after the bank holidays? Maybe ring the gp and chase up to make sure they've sent your referral!!! Sending hugs xx

VenusStarr · 18/04/2019 15:51

Thank you for the welcome @veeboo :) have you any signs of ovulation? Fingers crossed for you, a long weekend is good timing!

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF great news. Hope you gave a lovely, relaxing weekend away, you deserve it :)

Sorry your surgery is being less than helpful @squirrelnutkins1. When we were waiting for our GP to refer us to the fertility clinic I waited 3 weeks and then found out they never even looked at my husband's sperm analysis results! I turned up at 8am the next day and waited for an appointment and it was done that weekend. The GP rang me on the Saturday Blush I don't think they'll discharge you, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

I did another hpt today and it's very faint, I was worried that my levels were still high after the miscarriage but reassured that my levels are falling. The gynecologist last week said we didn't need to wait a cycle to try again but think we'll just dtd whenever we feel like it, like you squirrel I'm not sure how my cycle is now. I did have ewcm at the weekend but nothing now.

Glad we have a long and hopefully sunny weekend to look forward to ☀

2fingers22018 · 18/04/2019 16:14

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF thats quite a lot is it not? Great news!.. fx everything else goes smooth it has been really helpful to hear from someone goin through ivf and give an honest account of everything 💝

2fingers22018 · 18/04/2019 16:19

Ive been losin track with everything goin on in this thread lol how are you @squirrelnutkins1 @Kelly19 @venusStarr

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/04/2019 17:16

@venusStar thank you! It will be nice to get away and let me body recover! You do what ever feels right for you! Xx

@2fingers22018 yes I believe 9 is a good number we are very happy just fx now that we get some Frosties just in case the first one doesn’t work (well as long as any make it to freezing that is) I said to DH I’m not sure how I’d feel about going through all the injections again so soon if none do! Don’t get me wrong you get use to it but you do get a bit fed up with it (obviously in the best possible way). I hope I haven’t scared anyone I think the most honest I can be is as above you will get use to the injections I struggled at times with being so bloated! I didn’t get to many side effects apart from a headache for a few days and one nights sweat and I did get a bit short tempered but not sure that was just because I was fed up with being bloated! Egg collection was fine afterwards it’s painful but like o said I was back at work today even though I am knackered now!

Oh and the only other thing is they don’t tell you that you might have more injections after! I was looking forward to having a cider in a beer garden (just a cheeky one now the first part is over) but I do t think o can drink on blood thinners!

If you want to know anything else I’m more then happy to answer 😊

GreyC · 18/04/2019 17:32

Hi everyone! Just caught up on everyone; I have been away since last week and returned today for a friends wedding tomorrow

  • @finallytakingtheplungewithIVF - great news!! Fingers and toes crossed for you!!
2fingers22018 · 18/04/2019 17:35

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF thanks do u mind me asking where do u work tho is there any manual work involved or is it a desk job im just worrying how al cope with work x

veeboo · 18/04/2019 19:12

Thanks @VenusStarr, no signs yet. I use clearblue advanced as I've had slightly inconsistent cycles. Nothing major but not sure how much of the thread you've read. I do ovulate but my partner has ED so it makes things tricky. Should hopefully come over the weekend as I'm CD13 now.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/04/2019 19:16

@greyC. Thanks chick! Xx

@2fingers22018 I have a desk job so no manual work for me! What about you? I’d prob say if I have to go through it again I would take two days off as even though o do feel ok I am tired and gives you a bit more chance to rest! Xx
