New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

I'm okay @kelly199. I'm CD 11 now and started opks for the month. Should ovulate this weekend which would be handy as we are off work although last month I didnt ovulate until cd23. DP had his appointment about his ED and they gave him some new tablets and advice. Just persevering!

Thanks for the positive vibes!! Am feeling a bit nervous now but it has been mince to not have any injections today!
We’ve had a few issues with some last minute paperwork but it’s all sorted now!!

What are the bloods for tomorrow @kelly199?

@veeboo glad your DH is getting some support and new medication fingers crossed for ovulation this weekend!

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF progesterone labels, although my cycle is never the same every month, so may be too soon anyway? We'll see.

Need some advice ladies had my hycosy 6wks ago now they said it was k to fone and see where i was on the ivf waiting list but itd prob b 6months long..do u think i should wait longer to fone im just REALLY fed up of the wait!

Thanks all :). @2fingers22018 do you think you'd feel better if you knew it was say 5 months time so you had a date? I suppose its going to be frustrating either way but I always like something to aim for.

@veeboo exactly i feel like a date would give me something definite to aim for but im scared they might say oh sorry that was just approx ur appts 9months away or something..dont know what to do

Yeah defo ring and you'll have something to aim for and something to look forward to. To some extent you can make some plans around it, maybe book a nice hol before you get started etc @2fingers22018

Morning all have to say I had a terrible night sleep and now I am very nervous as just getting ready to leave for the clinic!!!

@finallytakingtheplungewithivf I can't imagine getting any sleep either on a day like today. Hopefully one you'll look back on one day! Hopefully you can rest over Easter?

Hope everyone else is OK. Feeling a bit better today. Need to go to the doctors for my rubella screening letter in preparation for our appointment.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! Am just on my way home! I had 16 eggs collected!! So am pleased! The sedation was great you drift off in to a nice sleep! I was in quiet a lot of pain on waking up but have had paracetamol and codine so am ok but still feel very much like period pains but ones I can cope with! I am very tired though right now so looking forward to getting home! I am having to take blood thinners for 5 days and they have given me more cetrotide which should shrink my follicles over the next three days! I have work tomorrow but am going away for a few days over Easter weekend so will try get some rest and just relax and enjoy myself now that I am not filling myself with to many hormones! Fingers crossed for my phone call tomorrow to tell me how many have fertilised! I have a follow up call next week to talk about my fet which they said I can do on my next cycle so am pleased with that aswell!

I will catch up with other posts later on I have read but my mind is still a bit groggy and can’t remember what I’ve read 🤪
