I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

Welcome to the thread @VenusStarr

Sorry about your loss. Second what the other ladies said, we're all on here to help each other along the way xx

GreyC · 14/04/2019 23:00

Hello @VenusStarr. Sorry to hear about your loss. This is loveliest thread I have been on. Everyone is very kind and helpful.

I had my last follicle scan yesterday and they think i ovulated day 13 ish due to some free fluid they saw in the scan. Never heard of free fluid before!! So maybe immature eggs being released; so early in my cycle. . Waiting to hear from them with a report.

2fingers22018 · 15/04/2019 09:27

@VenusStarr soo sorry for your loss welcome to the thread🌹

Kelly199 · 15/04/2019 10:39

@GreyC pleased for you to read that you're ovulating! Sorry that it's possibly early with release of immature follicles!
The report will obviously detail everything for you? Good that they'll email it to you.
Let us know how you get on xx

Hope everyone is ok xx

Hello all!

Good news on the ovulation @greyc! Did they say it might be an immature egg?

I had my final scan this morning and the follicles have grown a fair bit since yesterday now have some at 16-18 and they now think about 9 will be good for ec which has been confirmed and booked for wed morning! Awaiting a call later to say which trigger I can take as I have the hsg and the other one but as my readings haven’t been high I’m assuming it will be the first! Then I get to have a day off from injections and blood taking very please about that!!

How is everyone else? Xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 15/04/2019 12:42

Oh I also had some free fluid today so they will have to check on ec day to see if it still there as if it is might have to freeze all as they won’t do a fresh with fluid there so fingers crossed it goes!

Kelly199 · 15/04/2019 13:08

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF great news!! Good luck for Wednesday, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! 🤞🏼
Hopefully the fluid goes too!! xx

VenusStarr · 15/04/2019 16:05

Thank you for the warm welcome :)

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF that's great news, fingers crossed for you 🤞

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 15/04/2019 17:45

So have just got off the phone with the dr and unfortunately my hormone levels are now to high so have to use the non hsg trigger and now having a freeze all cycle! Slightly disappointed but better to be safe then sorry! On the plus side least my body gets time to recover which can only be a good thing.

VenusStarr · 15/04/2019 18:58

Definitely better to be safer @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF. I've heard good things about frozen transfers. Will it be next cycle, or will you wait a while?

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 15/04/2019 19:04

@venusStarr hopefully we will go for next cycle but will find out more when I go on wed for ec as I’m not sure of the process or how long I have to wait as I am sure I’ll be having more blood test to check my levels

Hi everyone, I'm new to the TTC journey but I hope I'm ok to join in. Husband and I got married last year (both 31), I've been off contraception for over 4 months but nothing yet, I've been temping and monitoring CM but I've definitely not ovulated since stopping the nuvaring and starting to get nervous. I know it's super early but I have endometriosis and fibromyalgia so it feels like an uphill climb.

I'm trying not to stress but I don't feel I have much outlet for my worries in the real world (DH is so laid back he's practically horizontal, the mums are desperate for grandkids and I don't want them getting overexcited so we're not telling them we're trying).

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 16/04/2019 08:31

Hi @planBea 4months isn’t a great deal of time to start worrying just yet a lot of us have been trying for years with various issues and are at various stages of treatment or are on waiting lists for treatment. Has your dr told you that you will struggle to conceive I know endo can cause infertility but don’t know enough about it really! Are you having any tests?

PlanBea · 16/04/2019 09:12

Hi @finallytakingtheplungewithIVF I had a laparoscopy two years ago and the doctor said my fertility is compromised - they suggested starting trying straight away as we're unlikely to get pregnant naturally. I was on contraception for symptom management otherwise we would have started sooner. The first few cycles I was ok not having ovulated but for some reason this cycle has just knocked any confidence I had that maybe we'd be ok and just get lucky.

VenusStarr · 16/04/2019 09:36

Congratulations on doing your trigger shot @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF 😊 will be thinking of you tomorrow for your collection 🤞

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/04/2019 10:10

@PlanBea
Hi 👋🏻 As mentioned, 4 months really isn't very long. It's a long hard road if you read back on this thread or similar threads, so try not to get too down hearted at this very early stage. Just keep going and after a few more months speak with your GP. Mine was very good with getting tests started when we'd been trying for a bit less than a year due to my previous history of endo.
It can also take a while for your cycles to settle after coming off contraception.
Keep your chin up as best you can

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF Eeek keep us posted!!! Xx

Kelly199 · 16/04/2019 10:12

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF so pleased for you!!! Good luck for ec tomorrow!! Xx
