I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

Have a lovely weekend all xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 12/04/2019 18:19

@daisymay25 oh wow that you for the information really useful! Are you in pain then? Oh no not more needles! I’m looking forward to being done with those!

@kelly199 I know I think everyone had made a big thing out of my 33 follicles I think o was just expecting more! Blood tests are to check my hormone levels aren’t too high again because of how many I have there a chance they could go up really quick and cause OHSS! Yes after ec they said they try for 5 day transfers but depends on development I think or I might have a freeze all depends I guess on if my follicles play ball or not

So I have just spoken to my consultant and I have to go in on Sunday for my scan he said my levels haven’t gone up to much but he doesn’t want to wait till Monday! They normally don’t do bloods on a Sunday because they don’t have a courier bye they have found one so I’m really please they are looking after me so well! They will then decide wether I trigger on Sunday or Monday! So I’m getting close!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 12/04/2019 18:20

@squirrelnutkins glad you are starting to feel better!

@2finger22018 I hope you have a nice weekend

DaisyMay25 · 12/04/2019 21:00

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF you might not need them but if you've got a lot of eggs collected they'll suggest. I had a little pain earlier in my right ovary which was just it going down a bit I think. I'm just bloated still, not much pain really just uncomfortable to walk. When I had my scan on the Friday (I had one on Monday and EC on Wednesday) the doctor wasn't concerned so when I saw him today he didn't understand how there was 22 eggs, he thinks maybe my ovaries got a second wind and started producing again. How're you doing? I hope your EC is Wednesday!

Hi all; quick question. My first hospital appointment with the fertility clinic is soon and have just found out DP isn’t able to come due to work circumstances / they are refusing him the time off due to other staff holidays. This won’t be a problem will it? If only I go? Luckily he is all good the referral is for me!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

squirrelnutkins1 · 12/04/2019 22:51

Check your letter, mine did specify it was for us both and they did ask OH history of illnesses and any trauma to his bits etc, even tho his tests were fine.
Won't they let him take a couple of hours rather than the whole day? @GreyC

veeboo · 13/04/2019 07:55

Hi @GreyC as @squirrelnutkins1 said our first appointment they needed to see us both. From then in I was able to go on my own although we both went back for the consult after all my tests. Maybe you could call the clinic and ask? Did he tell work it was a medical issue? Maybe if he explains it's a specialist clinic with fewer time slots that may help.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 13/04/2019 08:18

@dasiymay oh right ok! How uncomfortable to walk? I only gave ec day off so will have to get make it through work in Thursday I guess at least with a long weekend afyer that it won’t be to bad as I’ll have time to rest and recover! Im ok feeling really comfortable and am not sleeping well because of it but just keep telling myself I’m nearly there (well to the next part at least)! Looking forward to my next scan tomorrow so I know what’s what (I don’t like being so unsure about what’s happening when lol) thank you for your info it’s really helpful to know!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 13/04/2019 08:19

@greyc same as what @squirrelnutjuns and @veeboo said! Also you normally get told a lot of info so helps if you are both there as it can be a lot to take in

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 13/04/2019 10:33

Feeling quite emotional today have been awake since half 5 as am feeling really uncomfortable! Have shouted at DH for not asking if I wanted to do anything with him today he just sorting himself out and then welled up in tears! Feeling exhausted Already and it’s only have 10 think it’s going to be a long day!

How everyone else has a nice weekend xx

DaisyMay25 · 13/04/2019 11:04

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I'm feeling a little better today. Sitting downs laying down I'm fine though I just walk very slow! I wouldn't have been able to go back to work the day after but everybody is different. I hope your scan goes well!!

GreyC · 13/04/2019 11:32

Thanks guys; haven’t had the letter yet; had my text and phone call to book the appointment. Have told him today that he needs to tell them what it is for so he is able to get the afternoon off. Thanks guys; very helpful

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 13/04/2019 11:34

@daisymay glad you are feeling better! I would of booked more off but not long started so I’m just going to have to take the rough with the smooth and hope it’s not to bad!! Thank you

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 14/04/2019 12:53

Hi everyone hope your all having a good weekend!

Had my scan today I have 5 follicles that are range from 15-17 and another few which are hopefully going to catch up! So one more day of injections for me! Had bloods aswell to check my levels but all were ok last check so they are not to worried! Unfortunately have to go back on tomorrow for another scan and bloods as just to be sure! Egg collection has been provisionally booked for wed so all being well tomorrow I will be told when to do the trigger won’t find out till later on in the afternoon after my blood results!! It’s all so close now! We did talk about how were expecting more follicles to of grown but the doctor reassured us and said he would prefer less with better quality eggs which makes sense!

Hope everyone else is ok xx

veeboo · 14/04/2019 16:27

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/04/2019 17:15

@Kelly199 thanks hun. Just had a few tears but that's to be expected. Been doing a bit of spring cleaning so that's keeping me busy and a clear out is therapeutic! Xx

Kelly199 · 14/04/2019 18:14

@squirrelnutkins1 definitely expected with what you're going through.
Totally agree with the cleaning!! Makes me feel so much better.
Sending hugs ❤️ xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/04/2019 20:04

Just popping on to welcome @VenusStarr to our chat. She's very lovely and has been ttc for a long time too. I've told her just how fab and supportive this board is ❤️ xx

VenusStarr · 14/04/2019 21:06

Thank you for the lovely welcome @squirrelnutkins1 💜

Ive been ttc for 16 months (I'm 35, dh is 37), had just been referred to the fertility clinic when we got our bfp on February. Sadly that ended in a long drawn out miscarriage nearly 2 weeks ago. I was 9 weeks but baby only made it to 5 weeks.

We have our first clinic appointment in May, we've been advised by a gynecologist to continue with that. Bit worried they may send us away to keep trying on our own. But I have multiple fibroids and dh has slightly low motility, so we'll see what they say.

Sorry for the long intro! Looking forward to chatting with you :)

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 14/04/2019 21:51

Thanks all! So glad the injections are nearly at an end!

@squirrelnutkins a good clear out always helps! My DH always says clean
House clear mind he is a bit ocd though!!

Hi @venusStarr sorry for you loss and welcome to the very supportive thread with a lovely bunch of ladies all at different stages but all trying to support each other however we can.

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/04/2019 21:57

Haha I would have to agree with your OH! @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF

Yeah, we're all at different stages, some awaiting egg collection, just starting on Clomide, IVF waiting list etc. I'm in limbo waiting to hear from the fertility clinic. May give the clinic a call let next week.

Def the best thread I've been a part of. So supportive and kind @VenusStarr
