New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

Hello everyone. I’ve been off radar for a little while trying to get myself together. Really sorry to here @Squirrelnutkins1

I hope everything goes well for the rest of you.

I had my first follicle tracking done on Monday. Took her a while to find my ovaries so I was panicking abit; but she did eventually find them! She said that everything so far looked normal and I had a huge follicle there but didn’t really say how many there were. I go back tomorrow to see what happens next.
I have also I think had a positive OPK today - I’m gutted we didn’t dtd last night but I was asleep straight after work 🙈 but have done the previous 2 and will get on it after work today. But untill I’ve had my scan there isn’t really any telling if my egg will be released or what.
My appointment for the clinic is in May so we shall see what’s going on; as it seems I produce the LH but maybe not enough to trigger the egg release

On second thought; I think the opk is still negative but almost positive?! What do we thing?

@GreyC good luck to you! Fingers crossed all will be well. Seems as though we're almost at the same time in our cycle. I had my first follicle tracking scan Monday too (my cd12) ! Although, they said I don't need to have any other until 23rd now to make sure egg has been released.
I'm still waiting for my +opk!
Looking at the picture, I would say that's a positive opk.
Personally, I think that's pretty dark? Looks same as control line to me! Good luck to you, hopefully you will have some good news end of month!

Mine are between 25-27 days usually. So I am day 12 of cycle today. I am going to test later too to see - the line doesn’t normally hang around for long with me which could be all related. I have Ewcm a lot today. Which I really don’t usually get; I am second guessing the opk I think! Literally bouncing for DP to get home ha!! Going to dtd hopefully over the next few daysregular and hope for the best! So romantic hey!
I’m having 3 scans (I payed for it myself) so one tomorrow and then not sure Saturday maybe?

@GreyC thank you. Mine are usually between 29-36 days, but I have pcos. Wondering if clomid may regulate my cycle a little though so have been doing the opks for a little while just in case so I don't miss it!

Yes, they told me three too. Day 10, 14 and 24, but because cd10 was sat, I had it on Monday. They told me then that no need to come in for cd14 as they just wanted to make sure the dosage was ok and it was so they're happy not to see me until 23rd now. Fingers crossed for good news!

@kelly199 yes injections went well you kind of get use to it and I’ve been lucky in that o haven’t bruised myself either!

Had my 2nd scan the follicles are growing I now have some at 12,11,10,9,8,7 I think so that’s good they have said EC might be wed so still a while to go and she did mention I may have a feewze all because how many I have but they are waitbjng to see how my hormones are going they were lower then they wanted on mon hence the dose age increase had more bloods today it took the nurses three attempts to get some so am feeling like a pin vision today! Headaches are now gone which is good but bloating is increasing but prefer that to a bad head anyday!!

@2fingers22018 have you got any holidays planned or anything to look forward to? I know it’s hard but Try keep yourself busy with nice things!

@greyc good to see you back! Have you tried using the clear blue ones with the faces I use to use them removed the doubt for me!

Sorry about the bloods!! Horrible when they have problems, especially when you haven't got a choice but to have them on a specific day!

Sorry to just but in, I do read this thread but haven't contributed. Just wanted to share my experience so far with @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF

I know how you feel with the discomfort and bloating, at my scan on Monday I had 25 follicles. I've actually mostly been sofa bound the past few days. Anyway today I had my EC and they got 22 eggs, I've got blood tests to go for and got to measure liquids in and out of my body for monitoring. However they have given me a transfer date and haven't mentioned at all a freeze all. I hope that gives you a little hope? I wish you all the best!!

well done on the 22 eggs collected are you having ICSI? How are you feeling after the collection?

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF 33 is a lot but they will monitor you after I'm sure. I just know how uncomfortable you are! Wednesday seems a bit far away for EC though, when's your next scan? I had some huge ones at my last one on Monday, one was 26mm!!
I'm feeling a lot less bloated thankfully! Had a nice little snooze and feeling a lot better. I am having ICSI, are you? Just gotta wait for some good news tomorrow, I'm hoping at least 10 have fertilised. Is this your first cycle?

My next scan is Friday morning! What medication where you on if you don’t momd me asking? Well she suggested that based on them only being a few 12mm and the rest smaller and she said they only tend to grow 1-2mm a day but I guess I’ll no more Friday’ how long did you take medication for?

For down trey I was on buserelin then for stims gonal f. Hopefully they've grown by Friday then! I was in stims for 11 days with the 11th day being trigger day, felt like forever though! It's my first cycle too! I was terrified about egg collection, nearly had a panic attack this morning but it went perfectly fine. I was awake but just kept chatting to the drug doctor all the way through. I cried when it got near the end, he said it was from then hormones. But honestly I didn't feel it, the sedation was lovely!!

@daisymay25I’m am on short protocol so haven’t don’t the first part so am on day 6 of bemfola so if I do 11 days I guess wed is feasible!

Glad it’s not to bad think I will be the same and get a bit panicky!

I went and saw a gynae nurse at the hospital this morning. I thought I was literally just going for a blood test but yet again I had to go through what happened 🙄☹️ She said my HCG levels had dropped again and instead of a blood test she could just do a preg test to see if any preg hormone left in me. Test was negative.

She thinks I was only 4-5 weeks by my HCG levels which has left me very confused. By my last period and confirmed ovulation (2 blood tests) I thought I was 7 weeks this time last week. Feel more confused tbh but she really acknowledged my feelings and that's been good therapy for me.

She said even in the short time I was preg my life changed because you make plans and have all these thoughts and we've waited so long and had so many disappointments and we've had a LOSS, doesn't matter how many weeks, something has gone and it wasn't my fault and it's ok to grieve.

Funny how I know all these things but I feel like my feelings have somehow been validated and I feel a bit better (after some more tears of course).

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF so out of the 22 they managed to inject 19 and overnight 13 fertilised which is great news for me. I'm booked in for transfer on Monday and won't get any updates til then, I'm hoping to have a couple for freezing too. How you doing today?

Is this a positive? Literally just done it at work??

Also, we've been having sex every other day starting day after my last clomid (I know that was early as not in my fertile window, but wanted to have the best chance). This means though that last night was the night off and we were planning on dtd tonight anyway. This won't affect us too much though will it because the sperm from before will still be there?
