New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

Thanks @kelly199 getting use to doing them now! Just at clinic waiting for scan and bloods feeling nervous as DH couldn’t come with me today!

@lelly199 yes went ok but was very tender on one side basically one of my ovaries is not in the usual place so was very uncomfortable my 33 follicles are growing nicely I have some at 10mm and some at 9,8,7 and then some smaller ones but she said they don’t want them all to grow! Have to start my 2nd injection tomorrow morning! Another scan booked in for wed morning! Feeling abit meh woke u last night from a horrific night sweat literally soaking wet! Still got s headache but they didn’t seem overly concerned about those things!

My scan went well (I think). I have an 18mm on my right ovary and 2x 11mm on my left, so I don't know if those will grow?? Anyone have any ideas on growth?! They've advised of risk of multiples, but said they're too small at the moment and don't know how much they'll grow until ovulation.

@kelly199 thanks Hun! Yes I am feeling pretty crappy right now and am now dreading the next injection as I think that one is the one that can make you hormonal! I’ve sent him to the shop for chocolate I think I deserve a treat! I am going to book myself in for a facial or a massage once I get to the end think my body will be on need of some pampering! Think I really underestimated how hard I’d find this!

Wow well yours are bigger then mine think when you do ICSI they want them between 15-17mm so looks like you have a good one there! Not sure about if they will grow anymore did they not say? When’s your next scan?

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF sorry you're feeling so crap. Yes, chocolate is good! You should treat yourself.
I've heard that's quite good for people during infertility. Acupuncture is supposed to be good too. I'm going to see how this cycle is and I may consider doing it if I'm going through more cycles.
I know, it's so horrible that you have to go through it. Fingers crossed for you bfp at the end.

Think I was overly tired and stressed yesterday so feeling slightly better this morning and 🤞🏻 The headache isn’t here yet! Just gearing up for the 2nd injection not looking forward to it as have to mix this one myself! Still feeling massively bloated but guess I’ll jist have to get on with that!

@kelly199 yes I know have to take cetrotide on the morning and then my other one in the evening as normal! Just done it and was ok except it kind of feels like I’ve been stung by nettles but the nirse did tell me that!

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I knew the injections made u hormonal didnt realise the hot flushes n headaches tho r u still at work or have you taken some time off? X

@kelly199 yes every morning now!! It lasted about an hour was a very odd sensation as it wasn’t constant either! When’s your next scan?

@2fingers22018 well I didn’t have a noghtsweat last night so let’s hope it was a one off! My headache has been better today and think this is the best I’ve felt since Saturday if I’m honest! No am still battling on can’t really justify not going to work really! How are you feeling now?

Have had a call from the clinic today need to up my night time dose from 125 to 150 so I guess my hormone levels are fine and I’m not over stimulated! 2nd scan tomorrow

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF thats gd ur feeling better suppose work is a distraction lol i feel like crap today..again i feel like im going into a full depression. I just wish there something i could do to be more pro active all this waiting is making me feel helpless. I know i sound pathetic i feel utterly pathetic😧

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF hope you're ok now. As long as it isn't constant!
They said I don't need to go for the one tomorrow because they know the dose is right for me and I have at least one egg that's good size. Next one now is 23rd as bank holiday the Friday and Monday!

Yeah I am ok just done bemfola injection number 5 so trying to think of it as only 5 to go hopefully!
Well I guess it’s good that they know you are on the right dose now you just to get on and do the baby dance as much as you can! fingers crosesed for you!! Xx

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF im just on this stupid waiting list for ivf the wait is torture trying to stay positive but after nearly 4yrs now im losing faith in ttc @Kelly199 great news that you get a break from scans x
