New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

@kelly199 thanks I don’t have to do it till 7pm so still a few hours Togo!! Trying not to think about it tomuch as I know I’ll panic later at the thought of the needle 🙈.
So glad it’s Friday!

Lol I know I think the first one will be the worst and then hopefully it won’t be to bad think I’m going to read over all the stuff and make sure I use the right one 😂

Ekkk have just done my 1st one was t to bad it’s a bit fiddly as I am on the lowest dose 125ml the lowest pen comes in at 150 so have to do a bit of twisting so hoping I got the right dose 😳. Doing it was fine and have warned DH that if I get all horrible and hormonal then he knows it’s these injections bless him

Thanks girls. Finally got seen (after FIVE HOURS waiting) by a gynae doc. They don't think it's ectopic which is good but still don't know 100%. So annoying. I thought I was sent to a&e to get a scan but I just felt like no one knew why I was there 🙄 so I'm not really any the wiser and wide awake!

I hope you're back home now @squirrelnutkins1? It sounds like a lot to deal with. I hope you're okay. Have they given you any advice?

I'm on CD1 now. So glad AF showed up, I had a cycles at the end of last year where I thought I ovulated but AF just didn't come until CD59. So glad that's not the case now!

Aww bless. I'm sure he'll understand why.
Are these injections daily for a while now? Sorry if you've already said before, my memory is like a sieve! Hope you're ok xx

@2fingers22018 I'm feeling ok thank you, other than a few strange twinging now and again. Not painful, but I'm aware of them. No side effects though from tabs whilst I was taking them, thankfully! How are you? Xx

@squirrelnutkins1 I'm so sorry to read you're going through all of this. Seems so unfair. What've they said for you to do now? Sending hugs ❤️

Thanks all for the well wishes.

It's all just so messy. As I've said before we're lucky to have free healthcare in this country but it was just a shambles. At 12:30 this morning I was no further forward than I was at 7:30pm. I had to keep saying over and over and over again that I'd miscarried. I just feel so numb.

The walk in centre gp didn't want me to wait until my planned scan on Tuesday pm in case it was ectopic so he was sending me to hospital for a scan last night or this morning. Or so was the plan...

So as it stands now, if they can get me in on Monday they will but otherwise it'll be Tuesday so was all a waste of time. Well not really as you can die from a ruptured ectopic but yno what I mean.

Sorry for the essay!!

I really hope that it doesn't turn out to be ectopic. Good luck for your scan. Fingers crossed they can see you Monday!

@kelly199 yes I have to do one daily for about 10days think it depends on how well you respond to them! Just done my 2nd one!! I have a terrible headache so not sure if it’s from the injections!! Fingers cross it’s not constant 10 days of this will be tough and I’m only just starting out!

@kelly199 thanks it got really bad but after some sleep it’s not as bad but still there in the background so will see how it goes and will mention it tomorrow at my scan! Can’t work out if it’s all in my head or if im bloating already I suspect wilth my 30 odd follicles I’m going to get bloated rather quick! Are you looking forward to your scan tomorrow?

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF oh I hope it will go for you now. So horrible! Going through enough as it is without having the side effects! Hope it settles for you and your bloating will settle down!

Yeah, I am looking forward now. I'm a little nervous though as I don't know if the fact I have pcos with around 38 follicles on my last scan, means that I will mature too many eggs. I wish I'd have asked. As I ovulate naturally anyway they discovered, but just later on. I'm just hoping there's not too many and they'll cancel. Stupid isn't it, I'm hoping there's some there, just not too many!! Xx

@kelly I don’t think the bloating will go if anything it will get worse as my follicles grown apparently it can get quite uncomfortable by the end 🙈. It seems to of gone now so hopefully it was just the initial shock lol!

I’m not really sure how clomid works? What will be cancelled? Sorry if you have explained already!

Apparently, if you have too many mature eggs when I go for my scans, they advise not to have sex and to cancel the cycle for trying because too dangerous. Don't really know how it works though if that commonly happens/if I'm more at risk of it because I have too many follicles to begin with (if I'm even making any sense 😂). So much to take in!! Xx

@kelly199 oh I get you now. Makes sense I hope that doesn’t happen other wise just more waiting isn’t it!

I think I’ll be ok for now it’s not quite as bad as what I get before af it’s just noticeable fingers crossed it stays like this for a few days before it increases!
